Save yourself the trouble and avoid this dishonest dealership.
We went to this dealership yesterday intending to purchase a 2023 Ford Explorer. We arrived around 10:30 AM and didn't leave until approximately 4:30 PM. What should have been a straightforward purchase turned into one of the most frustrating dealership experiences we've ever had.
Because we had concerns after reading some of the dealership's reviews, we made sure to get the vehicle's price and details in writing before moving forward. The Explorer was advertised as having 39,000 miles, and every piece of paperwork we signed also stated 39,000.
In the finance department, we had an uncomfortable experience with the extended warranty. We felt the pricing was presented in a misleading way and that we were pressured to make an immediate decision rather than being given time to consider it. We ultimately declined the warranty, and the finance representative's demeanor noticeably changed afterward.
After completing the purchase, we got back into the Explorer and noticed a loud rattling noise coming from the AC that we hadn't noticed during the test drive. The dealership agreed to address the issue, so we took a closer look at the vehicle and discovered something much more concerning: the Explorer actually had approximately 45,000 miles--not 39,000.
We immediately brought this to their attention. We were told the dealership already knew it had 45,000 miles and had priced the vehicle accordingly. However, that didn't address our concern. We made our decision to purchase based on the vehicle being represented as having 39,000 miles. The listing said 39,000, the paperwork said 39,000, and we were never told before purchasing that the actual mileage was approximately 45,000.
After hours of going back and forth between sales, finance, and management, we were eventually taken to the sales manager. He agreed to reduce the price by $500 and provide floor mats. We felt that was a reasonable attempt to make the situation right and we accepted it.
However, Kyle, the finance manager, came back and told us they would not honor that resolution. Kyle repeatedly made it clear that the dealership was unwilling to do anything further and presented walking away from the purchase as though it were simply a favor or the only option available to us. We felt as though they were trying to wear us down enough to just accept their mistake and take the car.
After spending six hours at the dealership dealing with the warranty pressure, AC issue, mileage discrepancy, and multiple discussions with different employees, we were exhausted and frustrated. At that point, we no longer felt we could trust the dealership and decided to walk away from the purchase entirely.
The most disappointing part was that we weren't asking for anything unreasonable. We simply wanted the dealership to acknowledge that the vehicle had been represented with incorrect mileage and work with us on a fair resolution. The sales manager appeared willing to do that, but the resolution was ultimately taken off the table.
We left feeling pressured, dismissed, and taken advantage of. Ultimately, the way this situation was handled completely destroyed our trust and cost the dealership the sale.
My advice is to avoid this dealership entirely and save yourself the trouble. read more
