But a few years back, a chocolate tone, kind of short woman who worked at the front desk and was the masseuse, was a complete nightmare to clients. She was rude, manipulative and unhinged. I had two sessions with her. The first session with her was mediocre. The second session reception said she was the only one available so I took a chance because I needed it fast. I still remember how while giving the massage she tried to trauma dump on me about her walking into her apartment to see that someone unalived themselves in it. Wtf?! Why are you telling me this while you are massaging me? Why are you talking to me? It's completely inconsiderate and inappropriate. And if you are a kind person it's hard to hear someone went through that and not have empathy- But I'm paying for this time and you are ABUSING IT!! I didn't want this woman touching me anymore she was just a soul sucking, destructive, bleeding spirit that needed personal help and to find another profession so that her toxicity wouldn't spread further. I remember calling to make an appointment for someone else for the 3rd session. I had no qualms about politely but directly saying that I did not want her again. Then she pretended to be someone else and said that she was the only person available for the time time slot. I just said never mind. She kept intercepting the calls for some time and it was impossible to get anyone else to talk to. I wish I didn't buy the package. This was years ago. It seemed like they were ok with this nightmare of a soul working there in a space of healing for so long. I lost money on this and it's been years and I still have triggers of thinking about how terrible the service and the masseuse was. I HOPE they got rid of this person because I'm sure she single handily ruined significant income and clientele for this business. I haven't been back because her energy was so bad it ruined everything. I think she even pretended to be the owner in writing- it just wasn't worth the time to figure it out. it says a lot for a business to have someone so horrible like that around and they not see it. I arrived a little early and was escorted upstairs to an appropriate private room. The massous was an Asian female. She was very pleasant and we managed with her lack of English. This was a straight-forward no pre-interview type of situation which was fine since I had no need to relate any medical or other historical information. The massage was very good quality and covered all the areas required for an athletic type body and body areas. There was some minor stretching done and it was apparent the massous was capable and knowledgeable of appropriate pressures and anatomy. I was very pleased with quality and price. I will return. As someone who suffers from chronic neck pain, I really need someone who can get in the muscle deep. So when I say I need a deep tissue massage, I mean I need DEEP. Most of the time, I have to direct my masseuse what to focus on and what I need in terms of pressure and most of the time they listen. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I was paired up with a female masseuse who was sweet enough in manner but didn't seem to speak much English so when I asked her to only focus on my neck or when I kept asking for deeper pressure, she was respond in agreement but then would proceed to continue doing what I asked her not to do. I specifically asked her to only focus on my upper back/neck area and not to do my whole body. She did work on my upper area but then proceeded to do the rest of my body when I asked her not to. I know they are trained to do full body massages but the purpose of getting a massage for a lot folks is to get some relief from pain or tight muscles with specific attention to problem areas. If I'm going to pay an inordinate amount of money for an hour massage, I'd rather not have it wasted on parts of my body I don't need worked on. Needless to say, I realized I can't get what I really need here, so while I appreciated the good service overall, I will continue my journey for a great masseuse elsewhere.

But by the time I walked over to Adams Morgan, I had discovered that the nail salon I used to go to from time to time had closed. While I was walking down the street to see if there were any other nail spots on the block still open, I stumbled upon Prada, opting for a foot massage instead. I walked down the stairs into a dark space and was quickly greeted. I opted for a 30 minute foot massage for $40. They ask that you pay first before taking you to a big comfy chair in the next room. The foot massage itself was pretty good but they smell in the space reminded me a bit of basement mildew and remained consistently top of mind while getting the massage. But the woman that did the massage was so nice! If you're looking for a quick and easy foot massage it will do the trick, but just don't expect spa-like esthetics.

The receptionist was very friendly and we were checked in without a problem. The masseuses were very professional and friendly. The massage was good, but instead of working out some of the knots in my muscles, the massage aggravated them and they felt more sore than broken up and relieved. The scalp massage was delicious tho! For the value of the Groupon, it's a great deal but I think you get what you pay for. I may just have to splurge a little for 5 star quality but for an occasional massage, this is a good place.

I discovered Saida through one of the daily coupon sites, and when I left a message to schedule my first massage, it was returned promptly. Her office is directly across from the zoo and easy to find, extremely clean, and nicely decorated. And, now, on to the massage: it's fantastic. She has a very gentle touch, but can apply a lot of strength if necessary. This was further demonstrated during my second visit. In the course of unpacking/decorating after a move, I'd had a large picture frame hit me in the head and effectively give me whiplash on one side of my neck. When I woke up in pain the next morning, I called her, and she was able to fit me in for an hour the next day, a Sunday (she also had a half-hour slot the same day, but I decided to wait). She asked me relevant questions and then got to work, spending the entire time on the area in pain. I started to feel some relief immediately, and while the healing process will probably take another couple days, I have no doubt that she sped it up considerably. Oh, and her prices are VERY reasonable. She doesn't accept gratuities, so the price listed ($75 for one hour, for example) really is the price. Just awesome.

The staff member came into the room loudly talking on the phone and after a few minutes told me to get dressed and that we would start with the foot massage portion.
