This is old- but it was so bad I have to get it off my chest! This company did cancel a lot so that was already not good . But a few years back, a chocolate tone, kind of short woman who worked at the front desk and was the masseuse, was a complete nightmare to clients. She was rude, manipulative and unhinged. I had two sessions with her. The first session with her was mediocre. The second session reception said she was the only one available so I took a chance because I needed it fast. I still remember how while giving the massage she tried to trauma dump on me about her walking into her apartment to see that someone unalived themselves in it. Wtf?! Why are you telling me this while you are massaging me? Why are you talking to me? It's completely inconsiderate and inappropriate. And if you are a kind person it's hard to hear someone went through that and not have empathy- But I'm paying for this time and you are ABUSING IT!! I didn't want this woman touching me anymore she was just a soul sucking, destructive, bleeding spirit that needed personal help and to find another profession so that her toxicity wouldn't spread further. I remember calling to make an appointment for someone else for the 3rd session. I had no qualms about politely but directly saying that I did not want her again. Then she pretended to be someone else and said that she was the only person available for the time time slot. I just said never mind. She kept intercepting the calls for some time and it was impossible to get anyone else to talk to. I wish I didn't buy the package. This was years ago. It seemed like they were ok with this nightmare of a soul working there in a space of healing for so long. I lost money on this and it's been years and I still have triggers of thinking about how terrible the service and the masseuse was. I HOPE they got rid of this person because I'm sure she single handily ruined significant income and clientele for this business. Do not book a massage here if you expect professionalism and consistent quality. I recently purchased a pack of 5 Swedish massages. The first 3 massages were completely different and wasn't based on the Swedish massage technique. Swedish massage isn't just about the amount of pressure. The third massage, the therapist was late and I wasn't notified. I was left standing outside of the locked building. I had to call and inquire. The therapist took four phone calls during my actual massage. She only spent about 35 min on the one hour booking. I was told that I would receive a comp dry sauna service with my fourth massage. I just walked in for my fourth massage and saw the owner Reggie. I told Reggie of my experiences and he offered to refund my fourth and fifth massages that I paid for but didn't think it was necessary to address the previous service. At 5:53pm, even after I spoke to the receptionist multiple times, no one came out to open the door and I was still standing outside in 35 degree weather. I tried to contact the receptionist again and was sent to voicemail both times. Extremely unprofessional. I left a voicemail asking that my card not be charged because I left and didn't get the service or experience I was hoping for. 4 stars for the masseuse's skill 3-3.5 stars for the overall experience I got a deep tissue massage by Sierra. Overall I thought the massage was wonderful and I didn't regret going. And if you get Sierra, your muscles and body tissue are in good hands. So why not 5 stars? Well, there were one too many little things that weren't great and I felt they needed to be noted. If there had only been one or two of these they wouldn't have affected the score, but to experience all in one visit deserves a reckoning. * the massage oil was wonderfully warm when used on my back but was not kept at that temperature and by the time the massage was halfway through the oil was lukewarm when applied to the arms and downright cold when applied to the legs. * the music abruptly stopped and we were in silence for several minutes. A couple times before that the song would abruptly end and a new one would start. Not a huge issue, but did mess with the relaxing vibe. * by the time I checked in and got to my room it was a few minutes past my starting time. To be fair, I arrived right at the start of my appointment time (parking was hard to find in the area and I had to walk a ways). That said, the receptionist was busy with a client and told me to wait and that took up some time. I was finally in the room to disrobe 10 min after the original start. When my massage ended I was sad to see that the late start was not taken into account and I had only received a 40-45 min massage instead of a 60 min one. Don't get me wrong, it was a great 40 minutes, but I was shelling out the money for 60 minutes of needed work and felt disappointed that I wasn't getting everything I thought I was paying for. * I spent about 4-6 minutes waiting for my masseuse to come back into the room after disrobing. I know every minute of my massage is precious so it took me about a minute to strip to my comfort level and get under the sheet. And then I waited. And waited. And waited. Next time I'll tell my masseuse I don't need that long to prepare because I started to get annoyed by the length of time I was waiting. Especially since it was taking time out of my session (see above). * as mentioned above, parking was hard to find despite not being the weekend. I'd read reviews saying parking wasn't an issue and misjudged the time I needed to not only find a spot but then walk the difference to the parlor. * finally, the website is horrible. It was hard to navigate and not user friendly. At the end of the day if one or two of the above things had happened I would've brushed it off and been content. Had three massages and they were great - However, my next three appointments were cancelled one hour before my appointment time. In one instant I was 30 min away. The owner explained his proiblem of obtaining thearapist when needed. My point to him was do not send a confirmation text 2 hrs before appointment and then cancel one hr. later. Based on other reviews of cancellations, if the Business can fix the therapist availability problem, it would be an idea place to help black businesses since the massages themseles were great. I wanted to do something special for my SweetHeart. As working parents of three. Time together is not only a must but add relaxing and rejuvenating and you have hit a homerun. So I went on @groupon to find a locally owned spa. I picked a couples massage. Now this was my first time experiencing a massage of any type. We received an hour full-body massage and 30mins. infrared sauna. Although this was my first time I had heard enough to do at least an hour. And Man was I right! I don't know if it's cause I'm 6'2" but I think 30min. massage would have just made me mad. The technicians were very professional. They let us know what they were going to do before they did it and checked on us to make sure the pressure was good. The only thing that stopped me from giving them a full 5 stars is little add on like maybe a selection of essential oils to be in the room while receiving the massage. I came here because of a groupon deal ($55 for a 1-hour massage and half an hour in the infrared sauna) and boy, am I glad I did! I have pretty chronic back pain and I was looking for a place to go to alleviate it for now. It isn't that accessible by public transportation but it is doable. However, I did end up taking an Uber out of convenience. It wasn't that bad but my back and hips were screaming with pain by the time I finally arrived. I was nervous when I realized that the masseuse would be male, but Reggie, the owner was super professional, warm, and welcoming. He asked me what I wanted to feel like and I told him I had back problems and off we went! I'm not a stranger to massages but Reggie was absolutely fantastic. Usually I have a problem with people going in too deep that it's painful but it wasn't the case here. Almost perfect pressure (although it was a little light at times but nothing really to mention) and I just felt wonderful. He targeted almost exactly my problem areas (notably hips, lower back, and shoulders. Yes I know that's a lot lol) with precision. One of the best massages I've ever gotten, and such a steal too! The infrared sauna was also great. Not too hot (sometimes I have trouble breathing in saunas that are too hot and damp) and wonderfully soothing. It was perfect after the massage. It's a smallish wood-looking place where you chill for half an hour (there is a timer). My Mom had purchased a deal on LivingSocial and gifted it to me for a 1 hour massage. The location is off of Bladensburg Road and if you aren't paying attention and driving at night it's easy to miss. The sign on the outside is dark (black) with white writing. The inside provides an inviting and relaxing ambiance. Although my deal was for a regular massage I opted for a prenatal massage which would normally be an additional $30 but because the receptionist failed to mention it to the massage therapist, she let me know that next time it will be an additional fee. I don't remember the name of my massuese but she was the absolute best! I was so relaxed and the meditation music was perfect, I think I dozed off a couple of times. There was another masseuse there and she was very rude to customers and had an attitude because they were late...oh they allow a 15 minute grace period after your scheduled appointment time. Stay away from this place especially if you have a groupon. I purchased a 60min message voucher off of groupon for this establishment. I ignored the bad reviews that referenced woman being uncomfortable because they felt their message therapist was getting sexual pleasure through messaging them and bad reviews from customers who purchased Groupon vouchers and got treated poorly. Don't make the mistake I did listen to the bad reviews. I called to book an appointment in February, I was told that I wouldn't be able to be seen until to May 24th (2 months). The girl on the phone was extremely rude when I asked her why so far out. I was told "well if you was paying with cash you could seen sooner". I'm sorry didn't know there was a difference. To make a long story short I booked the appointment. The appointment was so far out that other obligations arose and when i tried to reschedule nobody answered the phone. I drove up to the parlor and was greeted by a nice receptionist who told me she was sorry for the phone being out ,but they have had complications. When I tried to reschedule she told me that since I had a Groupon Voucher the next available appointment was 2 months out and I would have to pay an additional 25 dollars since I missed the first appointment (even though they dont answer their phones). I was also informed that I could be seen that day if I wanted to pay in cash. The receptionist told me this is coming from th owner/manager not her. To rap this up if you purchase a Groupon voucher to Body Bliss you will be treated like a 2nd class citizen. If this business doesn't want to honor the vouchers don't put them on Groupon. Groupon didn't force you to put those vouchers on their website. I try to support black businesses, but unfortunately a lot of them are run like Body Bliss. Just a tip of you have a living social deal make your appointment as soon as possible they are booked months ahead. If your voucher expires you will have to pay $20 on top of turning in the voucher. Jessica did my massage and it was great, she made sure to pay more attention to my tense areas and checked in to make sure she wasn't hurting me or if I wanted her to go deeper. I fell asleep because it was so peaceful and calming. The place is very calming and relaxing. I only deducted a star because my massage started 15 minutes after my start time so I was waiting undressed in the room. I first tried to make an appointment a day or so after by filling out the email contact form on their website. I waited for two weeks without getting a response. Finally, I called and left a voicemail last week. No response. This week, I called again and spoke to a receptionist. She was friendly, at first, but when I said I had a Groupon, her attitude immediately changed. I asked for appointments during business hours hoping to get one scheduled soon. I was told that there were no Friday appointments (even at 3pm!) until "June or July." Not sure why the receptionist wasn't sure when the next Friday appointment was, but other weekday appointments were just as difficult to book. The soonest I could get was over a month away. The receptionist indicated that if I paid in cash I could get a MUCH earlier appointment... The biggest issue here is: I double and triple checked the fine print on Groupon. Some businesses actually let their customers know that Groupon users get limited dates to chose from, but not this one! And because I had to ask Groupon for a refund (instead of waiting ages for an appointment) I couldn't even leave a review on Groupon! I visited Body Bliss on 1/30/18 for my first ever colonic. The atmosphere was clean and calming. The woman at the front desk was very efficient with checking me in and pointing me to the restroom and waiting room. I was a little apprehensive about the colonic procedure at first but Reggie (the hydrotherapist and owner of Body Bliss) explained the entire process to me and made sure I felt comfortable with the procedure before we got started. I found the entire procedure to be very calming and relaxing; I felt great when I left and have since been recommending it to all my friends. I also felt so comfortable with Reggie that I came back the next day for a Swedish massage. Reggie was very thorough and was able to hit all my tight spots from my scoliosis, weight lifting 2x a week, and propensity to skimp on my stretching routine. His touch was firm but never did I feel any pain or discomfort. When I left I could feel the usual tightness in my neck had diminished and my lower back felt more languid and mobile. I'm giving 5 stars for my 1st massage Danielle and 0 stars for my second massage with the owner The first one I got was from a young lady named Danielle that I just feel in love with her. I was looking for an establishment with a sauna and a google search led me to this place. I called to confirm that they, indeed, had one and was pleasantly surprised to find that they had an electric, thermal sauna. I had only experienced steam saunas but was eager to try this place out. I was able to book a same-day appointment. I arrived and, inside, was a cute little spot with, seemingly, friendly staff. The only thing that left me a bit dissatisfied was the fact that the allotted sauna time was 30 minutes. In a traditional steam room, this would have been ample time. However, as the timer tick down, I had only begun working up a decent sweat during the last 7 minutes. In a subsequent conversation with staff, I was informed that they would be agreeable to me scheduling future sessions in 1 hour increments. I made my next appointment for 2 weeks out for the 1 hour slot. I was looking forward to it and had begun telling friends and family, to not only encourage them to check the place out for themselves, but to know where they could gift me sauna sessions. My goal was to go weekly, if possible. I arrived at 6pm, sharp, for my next scheduled appointment on February 6, 2019, only to be told that they'd double booked my slot and wanted ME (the initial holder of the slot... Which was open and available when I stood at the receptionist counter to schedule before leaving the initial appointment) to reschedule for another time. They'd given my scheduled time to someone with a Groupon. I certainly hope the customer with the Groupon intends to be a regular and repeat client in the manner that I was geared up to be. I didn't appreciate this experience at all and after planning my work schedule and evening to accommodate this, much needed, self-care, I just hope the other party that got the slot enjoyed it enough for both of us. Unprofessional and disorganized. I was deciding between Body Bliss and another spa in Rockville, and the thing that finally swayed me to choose Body Bliss was the Sauna portion of the Groupon deal for "60-Minute Massage and 30-Minute Infrared-Sauna Session for Two." But the Sauna was broken and no one told us! I called a little bit before coming in for my appointment and no one mentioned anything about the Sauna being out of operation (did not receive a reminder call either). When my SO and I arrived still no one had mentioned that the Sauna was broken. It was only after our massage (during which my arm was cut by the massage therapist's finger nail) that I threw on a robe and ventured out to ask where the Sauna was located ... to which my therapist let me know that it was broken. We spoke with the owner and he offered that we come in for the Sauna some other time. But what person would come to sit in a sauna for 30 minutes, without receiving a massage? There are my suggestions: -As soon as something is out of operation, please call all your customers who have booked appointments and let them know so they can reschedule. -Take ownership over any mistake that is made, from the actual massage experience to the front desk, you as the owner need to take responsibility and do whatever it takes, within reason, to make sure your customers leave happy--not more stressed than they came. Remember that you are serving a population that are coming from stress to seek respite. Please honor that. Welp I hate being late so I pushed my butt out of bed to make it on time to my 10 am appointment. Got there a few minutes before 10 & the lady at the front desk was just pie! So dang sweet! I loved her. (FYI when I called to make the appointment I got a different woman who wasn't as pleasant so I was ready for a sassy lad but I got the sweet angel) Anyways, my guy was running late! Poop right. But it was my pamper day so why stress. Then the angel at the front desk gave me a free service because she wanted to make up for it! Whooo! I love her. I found out about Body Bliss through Groupon and had a wonderful experience. The spa is clean and the staff is professional, friendly and skilled. The owner, Reggie, scheduled my appointment and their flexible hours easily accommodated my schedule. I had a tandem massage with 2 therapists who knew how to treat someone with spine issues like me. They concentrated on the areas where I had tightness and applied a perfect amount of pressure. Parking can be tricky because the spa is located right on a bust street but I found neighborhood parking and walked less than a block. I will most definitely be back. read more

I actually had a really good experience with Body Bliss Suites, and ran across none of the problems anyone else discussed here. I'm wondering if maybe they have stepped it up over the past few months, or if I just got lucky? Either way, I felt like they were definitely worth the visit and that the services I received were competently delivered. As many people here did, I came in with a Groupon voucher for a 60-minute massage and a mini-facial session. My biggest complaint is the location, because it's really far from every public transportation and the directions misrepresent how long it takes to drive there. The outside of the building also looks really tacky, but maintain faith, because the inside is beautiful and soothing. I was calm the moment I walked in the door, and even though I was almost 10 minutes late, they didn't give me any trouble; I just filled out the entry form and they passed me off to my masseuse. Sierra was friendly -- quiet but in the best way possible. I got situated and she checked in with me about what kind of pressure I liked, where I needed the most attention, etc. I asked for pretty strong pressure and for a focus on my upper back and neck as that's where I harbor my tension and get a lot of pain. The massage overall was really nice. She addressed the issues I requested and generally used exactly the right amount of pressure. Even though she paid particular attention to my trouble spots, she still gave me a full-body experience that was so relaxing and calming, I almost (almost) fell asleep. She even placed hot towels on my back while focusing on other parts of my body, which was really nice and different. To my surprise and delight, I didn't even have to move to another room or employee for my facial -- she just had me turn around and moved forward with the facial. As the steam towels and lotion were setting, she massaged my arms and hands, which was divine. Everything about my visit ran really smoothly, from scheduling and when I arrived through to the moment I walked out. The business isn't perfect, but I definitely thought it was worth a visit and would consider going back even with the distance. read more

3 1/2 stars. I rounded up because the environment that morning was so low key and relaxing. Often some places are so "hyper" with the staff & in the waiting room it's not conductive to relaxation. I get A LOT of massages, so let's say I am discerning. :-) I bought a couple of vouchers on LivingSocial and a friend and I made appointments at the same time. The Location - Right off a major road and not far from a major intersection and though I didn't drive probably 5 - 10 minutes from 295. I also saw lots of street parking. I took public transportation which was fairly easy & straightforward. I'm guessing to keep the offices dim they have the windows cover with those light diffusing signs & advertisements. Also, outside I saw a van marked with advertising for mobile massages and massage parties. The Massage - the treatment room was clean, smelled amazing and very inviting. I took a walk just before my appointment so I was hot. Midway thru the massage I became cold and with a simple request from me, my therapist turned the air off. The massage was very relaxing. I had a gentleman named Reggie. Very professional. My friend enjoyed the massage but wishes the therapist (Jessica) would have used more a pressure. Oh yeah - we were both covered in massage oil when we left. If you don't like a lot of oil be sure to speak up. LOL The normal price for massages there is very reasonable so I will probably add Body Bliss to my rotation of massages. Also, if you live nearby you should definitely try it. Good massage place in the DC city limits are far and few between. They also offer hot stone massage (can't wait to try it), facials & waxing. read more
