The worst thing about this league are the officials. They are the absolute worst in any of the leagues our team plays in. On top of that, the league will not let the fans tell them anything or they will threaten you with losing the match. Now, I am of the opinion that it is totally fine to talk to the ref (even yell) as long as you are not insulting, and he is clearly in the wrong. The bad thing is that some of these refs think they are so special they will get angry from the beginning and even if you only say something like "HEY THAT WAS NOT OFFSIDES!" Sometimes their calls are so bad, you really can't help but say something, it would be weird if you did not. For example, one time one of them called a throw in before the ball even went out. I HAD to say something because that is absolutely not ok. I said "You already called it and it wasn't even out!" The ref got so upset that he basically said no more, or else. -On top of officiating, their scheduling is terrible. Sometimes they say you won't get games at certain times but will schedule you there anyway. -I have also seen some coaches have absolutely terrible attitudes against other coaches or parents and somehow the league does not ban them. By terrible attitudes, I mean cussing and yelling across the field and getting in a fan's face. (Over personal issues, and officiating calls.) How the ref let this happen I DO NOT know, the coaches have their spot in between the fields. -The league "workers" (I guess, or volunteers maybe) do not uphold the rules evenly. One time, I saw a guy tell a team they could not warm up in between the fields, but they do not tell everyone to stop. I will try to get a video of bad officiating to post for proof. If I was the coach, I would not keep the team in this league.

Second, they stack one team with their competitive team kids into rec. season. So every year, it seems that one team clobbers all others in a very unfair advantage. Third, the games for the single division (age group) are on one field, but don't let that fool you. Different divisions are on different fields. Therefore, if you have multiple kids, get ready to miss most games as they may be at the same time on different fields (this is a specific question that I asked when registering. I was told they would group kids of the same family for the same practice day on the same field & for game days. This is impossible for games. Practices, the attempt wasn't made we had four days of soccer between two kids). Fifth, if your older kiddo plays at Vista sports park, be ready to freeze for late night Friday games or burn on Saturday games. The turf is so hot at there is no shade at all. Sixth, our coach was mostly concerned with getting kids to join the competitive team. Every week, he pressured the MVP until he received a solid "no" answer from the parents then he moved on the next best MVP. Lastly, our coach was late often to games and inattentive, watching a movie on his phone, during the "end of he season team party". It is so disorganized & poorly managed. Recommended to find another, more cost affective rec. team.

It's a true community hub. The new play structure is a big hit with the kids, and the skate park is always full of energy. That said, weekend parking can be rough, especially when soccer ramps up ,we've had to park by the school more than once. Bathrooms could definitely use more attention (hovering is your best bet), but overall, it's a solid place for sports, play, and a few hours outside.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!…read more This field area has enough space for several games and practices to take place simultaneously. -and the grass is typically in good condition: not too many mud patches or divots/unevenness in the earth to be concerned about while playing. I play for an over 21 recreational league here now but about 12 years ago I first came here to try out for the Oceanside Breakers. Happy to see it's still serving the same purpose! Parking situation can be scary business as the field is located in a hub for afternoon/evening sports practices/scrimmages/tournaments. The parking lot gets zoo-ish quickly. Plan accordingly when it comes to finding a spot yourself or dropping off/picking up someone. I don't like that I've seen fights break out in the parking lot. Surely not something you want going on when there are kids around! Bathrooms are your regularly scheduled, dingy park bathrooms. Always take a buddy! If you're not a soccer player or enthusiast yourself, there's a nice sidewalk rounding the field for your walking/exercising to keep you entertained!
