This place is huge. I think there were 24 or 25 lacrosse fields last weekend. Fields are well kept and nice and flat. Traffic in and out is expected so it's not worth complaining about. $20 to park is steep, put to be expected, this is how they pay their bills, not much other revenue. You get what you pay for. Whoever is running this place from a Parking perspective should be fired. It is very, very clear that roping off the sections for people to get in and out is causing traffic to be at the worst possible way. We refer to this complex as "the dump" as it sits on a landfill and emits foul odors into the atmosphere. Parking is $20 a day. So enjoy paying to watch your own child to play a youth game, on top of the other fees you are already paying. Have a parent that drove separately? That's another $20. Robbery for a crappy smelly gross field. Traffic is a mess and it takes forever to walk anywhere other than the fields by the entrance. Complex is quite large and it's unreasonable to walk from one end of the field to the other. Sometimes they have golf cart that takes people around, sometime they do not. Outstanding venue for youth and adult sports. We visited as spectators to our granddaughters soccer games. The complex is massive with the ability to facilitate many games at one time. Several outhouses can be found throughout the venue and they have an area for conducting ceremonies or a place to relax and enjoy a bite to eat or drink. They even rent chairs for those that forget to bring their own. Parking is bountiful although rustic. There is a unique smell that has been reported by others but nothing that is remotely uncomfortable. The SoCal Sports Complex is a wonderful asset for youth sports and a great venue for all of us spectators. read more

The parking here is Really really bad for many reasons! Horrible!! You have to pay premium to park in the dirt(or mud if it's raining). For large events like fireworks shows or anything that ends all at once, you can get stuck in the parking lot for OVER an hour!! The way they have designed it is that there is literally only 1 road out! Imagine if there were an emergency ..... you'd be screwed! We parked in the back BUT ended up having to drive almost halfway TOWARDS THE FRONT in order to get around the concrete barriers in order to drive out because some a55hole put a rope and cones across the back exit and sat there in a golf cart! Stupid!! Never again will go here! Alot of people say it smells funny there too, and that is because it was a green waste dump and is a green waste facility still next door. read more

This place is huge, and was built with just one thing in mind: make money. It starts with the parking - $15 per car, and there are rows upon rows of cars. Easily 1,000 cars, so that's 15 grand right up front. Then; there's 22 fields, so how many scores of teams pony up $700 to play there for a weekend tournament? The infrastructure isn't bad though. They have a decent "food court" area, as well as merch tents. This is one of those times where I'm kicking myself for not thinking of this get rich scheme first! read more

This is a great soccer field to go to but unfortunately the workers at the parking stand are the worst there is more than multiple occasions were there are laddies that have bad attitude and are always being rude to the costumers for instance today there was a "manger" named Jessica who was very rude and showed very bad attitude who was selling expired parking tickets I went to confront her and she refused to give us a refund and then after her horrible attitude she returned the money so we could park outside the field after a nice worker who recommend to make a complain on Jessica who has had other complains previously that day read more

The sports complex appears to be on top of an active landfill. Not sure what else to say. The fields themselves were fine. Smell was not great. Parking was painful for a tournament as there is only 1 way in and it gets backed up pretty quickly. Food truck options were fine. read more

Depending on the day and the wind, it can be nauseating especially if you have to be there for hours. I was ready to give low stars for that alone, but really other than that it wasn't bad. Parking was straghtforward (cashless to make it faster) with parking attendants guiding cars and an area for drop offs, Porta potties in abundance (but try to time your restroom break for outside the complex), fields very organized and maps everywhere to make it easy to find. No trees/shade, but weather mid-July was mild since it is so close to the ocean. Canopies are welcome, though, if you want to carry them (kind of a far walk from parking lot to the fields). GA (Girls Academy) did a great job and so did the referees The entire complex sits atop a high ridge/hill and if you look west you can almost see the ocean So that means it's most likely going to be windy. In March it was warm but cool up on the complex because of the wind. We had one rain day and with the wind, the rain came down sideways Our team manager made a wise decision to stay near the beach in the Solana's Beach area...about 2blocks from the beach . Obviously there's a ton of other cool places like Oceanside, Encinitas, Carlsbad etc. I only mention this because there's plenty of hotels right next to the soccer complex and a shopping mall - but you can experience that in any midwestern town. If you're already soccer traveling to Southern California spend the extra and stay near the beaches and spend the extra time driving to the complex. Granted, we weren't staying 'on' the beach but about two blocks away. But you can Wake up early and walk/run the beautiful sunny southern Cali beaches or of course hit the beach after a game. This was our first visit to the So Cal Sports Complex for a scrimmage for my daughter's team. It was a warm, December day and there were a many fields being used for soccer games. Positives- plenty of parking, portable toilets with hand washing stations, flat, level soccer fields that were well-marked, and goals with nets. Negatives- field rental was $320 for 90 minutes. It was my impression that a referee would be provided for our scrimmage. A man came to our field, collected waivers and cash, ordered our girls to remove their ear rings and walked away. I assumed that was our referee- but that wasn't a the case. Instead, no one came to ref and my wife and I were the referee team. So Cal Sports owes us ref fees. Next time, I will follow the money collector until I see a ref. I didn't get a chance to film the game and instead received verbal abuse from the other team. Nice place, but overpriced and not well-managed. read more

In terms of soccer fields this is one of the better ones. The grass is kept nice, there is a lot of parking, and it has easy access. They have shuttles to help people who need it because it is large. So it cost $12 per day on April 6-7 for parking which is absolutely ridiculous when up the freeway at Angels Stadium, the Angels charge $10. Since when did SoCal Sports Complex sign Mike Trout for $400 million? And to make it worse, the lots are rocks and dirt. So you finish the games and you then need to go to the car wash, another $10-20 bucks. What if you need to use the restroom? Well, they have the always classy port-a-potties. And the food is also Ball Park prices. They charging like Silverlakes but not improving the place. Returned in. July 2019, same!! At least the fields are still nice, parking still hefty. After reviewing all the negative reviews about this place I was prepared for the worse...but I am not sure what a lot of people have been to in their past. A lot of big soccer tourneys charge for parking and have food trucks etc so not sure about the negativity around that and the fact that the parking is dirt I would not have expected a paved premier parking lot either so I think seriously some people need to get over themselves. So I will get to my part of the review...I thought for our first time this place was perfectly situated easy to get to and the fields were awesome and well taken care off. Also the parking was easy to get in/out of so once games were over there was absolutely no traffic congestion getting out like some tourneys I have been to in Nor Cal were we live. Also the organization was outstanding and ran like a well tuned Swiss watch and in my opinion the refereeing was really on point as well. Sure some of the t-shirt prices were a little high but when aren't they at any major concert event or MLS type of event. These people at here to make money as well. I personally experienced a few of the food vendors as well as couple of friends and everyone was super friendly. Plus food was great and prices were fair. But I have to get to the one point that people would ask why would I not give them a 5 star? This place smells because of its location to a landfill and you cannot get away from it the whole time you are there....plus there are a ton of flies which are also annoying. Lastly and just a little nit picky but based off all the revenue this tourney is bringing in some clean flushable restrooms would be nice....the porta potties in the hot sun by day 2 combined with the smell of the landfill not a good combo. read more

Parking was $12 this weekend not $10. They have no permanent bathrooms, only porta potties. It's a 1/2 mile walk from the parking lot to field 8. There is no quick way to get here from north Orange County; it's almost 2 hours in traffic if you're not lucky enough to have the early game. Trucks charged $2 for a can of soda. It smelled very earthy and organic, like a big compost. The fields were in decent shape though and were clean - and there was room to toss the Frisbee. read more

I am editing to add. They force you to park where they want you to park. They don't allow you to drive through the lanes looking for people leaving. If you want to do that, tell then you want to drop off someone at the drop off, then just go where you want. Ok let's cut to the chase. This isn't a resort or vacation destination it will not appear on the travel channel or lifestyles of the rich and famous. It's exactly what it is intended to be which is a giant sports complex built to host outdoor sporting events on grass. Soccer tournaments, LaCrosse and/or Football among others. It's cavernous and without creature comforts but with a foul smell emanating from an adjoining land fill... 3.5 stars on a sports venue rating system Most of these gigantic sports venues are in god forsaken places. Over the years I have become a connoisseur of sorts as it relates to these places as the father of (3) very sports minded and athletically competitive kids. From regional, state and national championship youth events (Baseball, Football, Soccer, Softball and LaCrosse) they are housed and hosted at these venues all across the west wherein you can host 20-40 fields and usually up too 100 + teams in a single complex with ample parking and the ability to have restaurants and/or overnight accommodations either motel or RV nearby. The So Cal Sports complex is exactly what it is supposed to be nothing more nothing less other than the smell. My son's club soccer team was down this past weekend for part of California State Cup in Oceanside. Because of the rain the fields were in great shape, green and pristine. The parking is like going to a major sporting venue except it's on dirt / gravel lots for $10. The venue brings in various merchants based on the event like a number of food trucks, apparel and equipment providers and music. it's about a 5-10min drive to nearby fast food and civilization. These likekind sports venues are in Lancaster, Palmdale, Bakersfield, Riverside, Norco and associated rural destinations in So Cal. The same exists in Nor Cal and in Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Texas and New Mexico to name a few that host these large national events usually in the middle of nowhere. The rationale is as follows it's truly a mathematical equation and real estate issue. The reason Beverly Hills or Malibu can't host these events is the scarcity and prohibited cost of land (Real Estate). Even if you could but you can't find a flat buildable parcel of land in the 25-40+ acre range the cost would be significantly more than a million dollars per acre and most likely around $5+ million per acre whereas in these aforementioned sites the entire project is maybe a few hundred thousand dollars total if that as land is abundant and really dirt cheap. The same reason the Rams are moving to Inglewood well that and Kroenke bought the land years for pennies on the dollar with the intention of moving the Rams here all along now that same land has gone up 10 fold... The So Cal Sports Complex is a no frills replica of most with the exception of the foul smell from the landfill that is bad especially when the wind blows. The venue is isolated with porta potty's the aforementioned outside food and other merchants brought in for the event. In most cases these events are a significant money maker for the local economy as motel/RV parking rates skyrocket on event weekends and local fast food places see huge jumps in revenue... I like the Bakersfield soccer venue a little better because you can get closer and park field adjacent as the venue is massive in the middle of nowhere truly nowhere. It's about a 20min drive back into town. Set your expectations accordingly and you will be fine. Appreciate the accomplishments of your son/daughter relative or friend and savor that image and memory not the venue because they are what they are isolated, expensive typically with challenging weather either frigid cold or smoldering hot in the middle of nowhere. That's the 411 and in certain cases the 911 as well. The So Cal Sports Complex is nothing special nor is dilapidated its grass and chain link fencing thats it but exactly what it is supposed to be except for the aroma. Set your expectations accordingly and it will be fine and a great journey as you celebrate the accomplishments of your loved one not the facility... read more

The park is terrible, it's all dirt and there's dust everywhere. The portapotty bathrooms are disgusting. The fields smell like menthane emanating from the ground, it must be unhealthy. My lungs hurt from the smell. . The shape of the grass fields is poor. And they charge $12 to park your car, you would think with all the money they're making from the parking they could have at least permanent clean bathrooms, or maybe even paved roads. read more

This place needs to invest in a restaurant and get some restrooms in check. I wish, wish that I owned this property I would be counting the cash like Scrooge McDuck. Not only is it $12 to park but it takes 15 minutes to get from the street to the fields because they dint hire enough attendants with all that money they're making. The labs split from 1 to 3, but the attendant at the front doesn't tell you that (really not sure what their job is besides watch the cars). Then they have 3 attendants. Needless to say was late to watch my son play. You can do better, Oceanside. read more

This place stinks. Both literally and figuratively. The noxious smell was so bad this afternoon that I would have gladly put on a hazmat suit. We thought the trash cans or porta potties were to blame, but we heard the fields are located next to a landfill. Gross. It definitely smelled toxic. The flies were everywhere! What's even worse is they charge $10 to park in a rocky lot. Make sure to wear decent shoes because crossing the huge rocky lot can be a challenge even in flat shoes. It was very unpleasant. The grass is patchy with holes. For that amount of money they make from parking fees and vendors they should be able to provide nicer grass. They do not have a real bathroom anywhere at this location. It's only porta potties and they were nasty. The water in the hand washing station was dry by noon on the first day. The only thing they have going for them is the proximity to Oceanside, other than that it's not a pleasant experience. Do not recommend. read more

We came here for the Surf Thanksgiving Tournament. Or should I say $urf tournament. Bring the big $$$ because everything is totally over priced. More on that later. The only reason this place gets 1 star is because the pitch the teams play on is very nice. Now the rest of the story. Everyone on our team has a headache from the fumes of manure that we have to endure. Unless they planned to have the teams play under this condition, why? Are these fumes toxic? Nobody knows, you can't find an tournament people anywhere. I supposed you can't blame $urf for the condition of the fields, but they are the ones who chose to play in a polluted environment. The SoCal sporting complexes smells like a pig farm. 2. Who is the idiot that designed the fields to be facing east/west. Seriously, You can forgive not having lights, but why would you put fields on this complex facing so the players are playing right into the sun. Idiots! The good news is that the complex is built on a single piece of grass, so when the next tournament comes in they can put them north south. The other thing about the fields is that the slope is probably 4 feet. Meaning the west goal is 4 feet higher then the east goal. The last game of the day starts at 3:45pm The sun sets at about 4:45pm, so the last 10 minutes of those games are played in the dark. Which doesn't matter because to poor kids can't see because their retinas have all be burned looking into the sun. 3. I realize this is a fund rai$er for $urf Soccer. I don't even mind paying $10 for parking on dirt and getting my car covered in dust. However, what ever deal the cut which would make the food trucks have to charge $12 for a sandwich is extortion. $urf is a very expensive tournament to play in. It's a stay and play, so they are getting a piece of the hotel rooms. Most tournaments are that way now. But then to have to pay. $12 a person to feed a family. They successfully schedule the games to make it too short in between games to leave. The lines for the food trucks were 30 people deep and most ran out of food by lunch time. Again, poor planing. They retail store was out of small t-shirts by noon on Friday. Don't you want to sell merchandise? 4. Everyone likes to play in one location. It is part of the fun of being in a tournament. The $urf used to play at the Polo grounds but now they will be playing here. I realize it is brand new and there are some kinks to work out, but $urf has been putting on tournaments for years. How could you screw this up so much. Also, if you would like some friendly advise, it you are going to have a tournament that is stay and play where you get revenue from the hotel rooms, you may want to schedule teams to play on Sunday too regardless of weather they move on to the knock out round. The hotel we stayed at required a Saturday night stay and with no games on Sunday, it was a bad situation with some parents. I was just glad to get out of the stink. read more

You would think by charging $10 per car would bring enough $$$ to build a set of restrooms but NO you will find lots of portable ones which match the overwhelming smell of manure in the never ending wind. When I first arrived I texted my husband and said I wished all our tournaments could be there. But later we were overcome with a horrible smell, I guess from the composting facility nearby. I tried covering my face with my sweatshirt. I felt ill for hours after I left--it wasn't just a bad smell but felt toxic. My eyes and nose were burning. If my kids' teams play there again we won't go. If it affected me that much just sitting there I can only imagine what my daughter breathed in playing soccer. read more

Fields are nice but parking is awful. I paid $10 a day to park over dirt and rocks and walk through mud because they water the dirt down. Don't wash your car until you know you're done here. Field 5 is about a 10 minute walk and longer depending where you park. A different parking lot should service those rear fields. You can smell chemicals - not sure from what. Looked for a map of the fields online and on the website but they didn't even have that. I found a draft "plan" which was incorrect. Better parking, organization and maps are desperately needed.
