Love coming here to celebrate Oceanside's Bday! Traffic getting out is always a mess but the music and fireworks are always a good time. They added in a drone show too this year which was super rad! Until next year!

Went here to see the July 3rd fireworks. It was a great experience. I will definitely go back next year. The event was so easy to attend. Lots of parking and space on the field. Very well organized. Many food options available. The fireworks were great and were preceded by a drone show.

This is a nice complex. They have lots of bathrooms and food options. The fields are nice and well kept. They charge $20 a day for parking, cards only. No cash.

Outstanding venue for youth and adult sports. We visited as spectators to our granddaughters soccer games. The complex is massive with the ability to facilitate many games at one time. Several outhouses can be found throughout the venue and they have an area for conducting ceremonies or a place to relax and enjoy a bite to eat or drink. They even rent chairs for those that forget to bring their own. Parking is bountiful although rustic. There is a unique smell that has been reported by others but nothing that is remotely uncomfortable. The SoCal Sports Complex is a wonderful asset for youth sports and a great venue for all of us spectators.

Visited in March '24, for my U13 GA daughter's soccer team tournament . I had Read previous reviews that 'knocked' the place down for: * Car access-parking * Smell: near a landfill * previous tournament lack of organization and bad refereeing It's actually a pretty nice outdoor soccer complex. Car access in and out was smooth and plenty parking on rock/gravel lot. Daily parking fee but that's to be expected. Smell was certainly prevalent and dependent on wind - sour cinnamon? But you get used to it. I google searched land-fill odors and it's supposed to not be dangerous Do your own research The grass soccer pitches are good to very good There is also a food tent vendor that also rents lawn chairs for us folks who flew to Cali. I think I recall a food truck as well? and the requisite smoothie vendor. Whoever complained about their tournament and refereeing is dumb: it's not up to venue to organize your tournament nor schedule the referees! GA (Girls Academy) did a great job and so did the referees The entire complex sits atop a high ridge/hill and if you look west you can almost see the ocean So that means it's most likely going to be windy. In March it was warm but cool up on the complex because of the wind. We had one rain day and with the wind, the rain came down sideways Our team manager made a wise decision to stay near the beach in the Solana's Beach area...about 2blocks from the beach . Obviously there's a ton of other cool places like Oceanside, Encinitas, Carlsbad etc. I only mention this because there's plenty of hotels right next to the soccer complex and a shopping mall - but you can experience that in any midwestern town. If you're already soccer traveling to Southern California spend the extra and stay near the beaches and spend the extra time driving to the complex. Granted, we weren't staying 'on' the beach but about two blocks away. But you can Wake up early and walk/run the beautiful sunny southern Cali beaches or of course hit the beach after a game. Have a great Soccer Trip

Thanks, always enjoy coming here. Nice fields and nice location for soccer. The weather is usually great and there's lot of competition.

Ask the Community - SoCal Sports Complex

    Are dogs allowed?

It might depend on the tournament, but the signs out front said no dogs. However, we saw quite a few at our soccer tournament (Albion Cup in July), so they must not enforce it.

Does anyone know if it's cash only for parking or do they take debit?

    Cash

    What hotels are closest?

There's a Marriott Courtyard right across the street from the complex.

It's a true community hub. The new play structure is a big hit with the kids, and the skate park is always full of energy. That said, weekend parking can be rough, especially when soccer ramps up ,we've had to park by the school more than once. Bathrooms could definitely use more attention (hovering is your best bet), but overall, it's a solid place for sports, play, and a few hours outside.

I play for an over 21 recreational league here now but about 12 years ago I first came here to try out for the Oceanside Breakers. Happy to see it's still serving the same purpose! Parking situation can be scary business as the field is located in a hub for afternoon/evening sports practices/scrimmages/tournaments. The parking lot gets zoo-ish quickly. Plan accordingly when it comes to finding a spot yourself or dropping off/picking up someone. I don't like that I've seen fights break out in the parking lot. Surely not something you want going on when there are kids around! Bathrooms are your regularly scheduled, dingy park bathrooms. Always take a buddy! If you're not a soccer player or enthusiast yourself, there's a nice sidewalk rounding the field for your walking/exercising to keep you entertained!

Second, they stack one team with their competitive team kids into rec. season. So every year, it seems that one team clobbers all others in a very unfair advantage. Third, the games for the single division (age group) are on one field, but don't let that fool you. Different divisions are on different fields. Therefore, if you have multiple kids, get ready to miss most games as they may be at the same time on different fields (this is a specific question that I asked when registering. I was told they would group kids of the same family for the same practice day on the same field & for game days. This is impossible for games. Practices, the attempt wasn't made we had four days of soccer between two kids). Fifth, if your older kiddo plays at Vista sports park, be ready to freeze for late night Friday games or burn on Saturday games. The turf is so hot at there is no shade at all. Sixth, our coach was mostly concerned with getting kids to join the competitive team. Every week, he pressured the MVP until he received a solid "no" answer from the parents then he moved on the next best MVP. Lastly, our coach was late often to games and inattentive, watching a movie on his phone, during the "end of he season team party". It is so disorganized & poorly managed. Recommended to find another, more cost affective rec. team.

This basketball league is by far one of the worst ones I have ever enrolled my children in- from "coaching" and how staff handled it overall. At first glance, staff was friendly and appeared knowledgeable about the game. But when it came to practice and the actual game, it was lacking. Understandably most kids have never played basketball, but it shouldn't stop you, the coach/staff, from calling a blatant travel all game OR addressing it during practice! Not addressing it just builds bad habits especially for young players. Cool story. There were younger players who finished their championship game before ours. All trophies were on a table outside for presentation. When the winning team went outside, the 2nd place team had taken the 1st place trophies and the champion team had to settle for 2nd place medals due to a lack of coordination by staff. Again, I'm sure the winning players felt wonderful afterwards. Another amazing story. During my son's championship game the staff realized the team were lopsided and decided to swap my son and another player to the losing team after the first quarter. First off, shouldn't the staff know their players by season's end to divide teams evenly? Apparently not cause no one was paying attention all season. In the end, the losing team lost and the staff gave my son a participation medal which went into the trash before we even left the gym. Save your money folks and go somewhere else.

It is without a doubt the most disorganized league we have ever seen. So Disorganized to the detriment of the experience for the kids. How in the heck is a 6 year old supposed to play with a 10 year old. Bill Sixsmith is a coward who won't respond to emails.
