Howie Glass - Glass installation.

Howie Glass

Out of the blue, we had a glass shatter in one of our front windows and needed to be replaced. It…read morewas the inside glass of a double-pane, tempered-eGlass window. This had happened to us several years ago on a double-pane glass door, also with just one pane shattered, ruling out an object hitting the window. The remaining likely causes are sudden temperature change or settling of the house. I checked Yelp and picked out a few window-replacement companies that were highly rated. I called each of them to ask for ballpark estimates. Howie Glass was one of my top choices because they responded immediately but, as I closed in on making a decision, our governor closed almost everything down because of Covid-19, including window companies, unless it was a board-up situation. Slow-forward a couple of months, and window companies were allowed to go back to work. So I dusted off my previous list and called several companies again, including Howie Glass. Since the other company I was considering was slow to return my call (the only negative review was for this), I scheduled Howie Glass to come out for an exact quote. They were available to come out within a few days. Chris showed up, put on his own shoe covers, and checked out our problem window. He quickly determined that the type of wooden-casement windows that we have are not ones they could work on. But he was able to refer us by phone on the spot to another company that could handle the type of windows that we have, and we set up an appointment with them. He then cleaned up all the broken-glass pieces, tidied up everything, and gave us written notes about the other company. Chris was a great representative for Howie Glass, especially for all that he did during the free-quote visit. I will definitely keep them at the top of my list for the future!

It has been well over a year now waiting for the owner Mr. Brigham at Howie Glass to respond…read morehonestly to my complaint. My damaged mirror still remains damaged and my complaint is ignored without any thought or admission that they damaged my mirror. I expected honesty from this company owned by Mr. Brigham and I have gotten no where. I wonder if he feels satisfied that he continues to ignore and deceive the elderly. Shame on him. He knows who I am talking about. They can receive all the nice comments and stars they want, but he knows that he damaged my mirror .

I will start with the pros: their selection is very good. That's it. The cons outweigh this…read more I was referred to this company by a family member that used them. She commented on the selection and nothing else. In hindsight, I should have run for the hills. We went to the showroom several times to walk the warehouse and choose the perfect stone. Quartz is what we ordered. Pierre and his brother own the shop and while they were never overly friendly, they were professional. The day we came to order the stone and discuss details, things went well and Pierre scheduled us within weeks for measurements and install further out on the calendar. Supposed to be two dates (measuring and install). Prices weren't cheap, but weren't the most expensive either. I was so excited that this company seemed to be on their game. His brother came to quietly take the measurements on the scheduled date. Install day comes, two men show and wait for bigger guys to help them. Bigger guys arrive and carry pieces in and determine they did not bring the right size. So the whole install day is scrapped and we get scheduled another two weeks out. This time only three small guys show up without proper equipment to bring in massive slabs of stone. They rest an over 9 x 5 foot slab on our wood step denting it. THEN after getting it into the kitchen, chip a whole corner off of the island top, turn around to see if we saw, and spend about 40 minutes trying to glue it back together which we said we won't accept. It was probably a 4-5 inch piece busted off the corner. The workers (specifically one I did not get name of) get irate at us and call their boss Pierre. Lots of yelling in a different language and I get handed the phone to say we need a new piece of stone and the step will now need repair. (Pierre agreed to both without apology). The one worker was so rude every time, he was actually scary and we really didn't want him in our house again. So we get rescheduled yet AGAIN. This time, two men (who had been out prior) come out with the stone and only do part of the job. No reasons why, but explaining your process to customers (that you do the counters, then island, then backsplash at all different times) would be nice. I can't even list everything that went wrong. The sink cutout that we paid $250 for was done wrong. It was to be flush as stated in the initial meeting. Apparently Pierre didn't write that down and blamed us for the problem. Even when it was recut, it doesn't match our sink (that they had the whole time). They wanted to use these huge, ugly black plastic brackets for under the sink. We had to go buy our own stainless steel brackets to use instead. They won't use clips or glue. They hacked into our drywall and cabinets to make their ill-measured stone fit. The backsplash doesn't go up to the bottom of the cabinet (they told me that's not possible), so big gaps under the cabinet and between the top of the backsplash. Caulking cracked within a week of install though the temperature was the same in the room. The grout (or glue) between the stone at the seams is missing/has gaps and is yellowing. I sent photos and called Pierre about this. We were rescheduled for a recaulk once after being told it was a temperature problem (which it is not). It's about skimping on product and using cheap materials. We were treated poorly at every touchpoint after the initial sale. I am very disappointed they don't stand by their work and that our kitchen has zero warranty.
