When you call, the schedulers actually know pool systems well enough to walk through real troubleshooting steps before booking an appointment. That alone sets them apart. We had ongoing issues with our pool heater, and not only did their tech fix the equipment problem, he took the time to look at our entire setup. He discovered that our gas meter wasn't sized correctly for both the home and the pool. Because of his recommendation, NW Natural came out (for free) and replaced the meter (also free). Our pool has been running better ever since. They also appreciated that we handle our own water maintenance -- no judgment, no upselling, just genuine support and professionalism. There was no communication to tell us what part of the day the hot tub service crew was arriving, which meant we could plan nothing else. The two-person crew were friendly and personable and our spa water was drained, re-filled and in good balance when they left. BUT the entire spa enclosure: walls, glass French door windows, sides of the spa and surrounding wooden deck was a mess of splattered white chemical spots EVERYWHERE. I was afraid it would not come off, so I had to scrub every surface on my hands and knees, etc, to get it back to normal. I called to complain and sent a photo, but have received no follow-up even though I was told the manager would be notified. Also, there was no promised follow-up regarding possible replacement of a spa neck pillow that was worn out. I'm left with the impression that this company does not care. read more

I am updating my original review. Because of Jessica the Service Manager. She has been extremely kind and helpful. We are working to solve the issues we have. Our swim spa is now fixed. It was leaking a lot of water. The technician was very friendly and worked hard to make sure it was fixed. We think something broke in transit. My original review was rough and mentioned several issues we had with our purchase. It's like buying a new car. You expect things to go right and it's hard when things go wrong the first month. We actually love the swim spa. There are issues with the manual being different then what our display unit is. We don't have a swim spa display. Hopefully that can be worked out with the manufacturer. Everything else was discussed with the owner and with Jessica. It really shows they care that they took the time to call and fix things. I came inside your store in May and asked for prices on a above ground pool, and the gentleman at the desk wrote them down for me. I called a few days later to place an order and spoke to Ron and he gave me a different price (more). I also asked about installation and was told you guys currently don't have anyone to do installs and your looking for someone. I asked why I had been given two different quotes and he stated "the other guy had only been there a few months and didn't know what he was talking about" I asked to speak to the manager and he told me he was the manager. I didn't get a great vibe so I decided to wait... I called back another day or two later and asked who the manager was, they told me Suzanne. I talked to Suzanne and explained I was frustrated and why and that the guys were not on the same page. In the meantime my sister decided she wanted to purchase a pool as well so we called Suzanne together and placed our order. 2 pools. She was very helpful. We were told middle of June. We have called several times since to check on the "status" and have been told it's delayed, gonna be the end of June, then beginning of July, then last week I called and spoke to someone (not Ron) and they put me on hold, said they tracked it and it was shipped on the 11th and it was on a long bed truck coming across the country and it would be here this week. Yesterday And Ron put me on hold comes back and says I'm on the phone with them doesn't look like it's shipped.... I'm like, "what!! Last week your guy literally told me he tracked it and it was on the truck.." Ron said he was gonna finish up dealing with them and call me back. I was NEVER called back. Your employees not only Blatantly lied to me last week about tracking the pool and it being on a long bed truck, to not even having the audacity yesterday to call me back after calling doughboy. He could have even called today. Nothing!! These employees are poor representation of your company and I have never been treated so shitty while trying to spend 6,000! I had to call doughboy myself this morning to get the "real" information on my order. I told them what we ordered and to what city so they could at least tell me if it had shipped or not. Sure enough it hasn't. I was told 1st or second week of August it should ship. Suzanne was prompt at responding to my email today , and very apologetic and providing me with your contact info as requested. She has come up with a temporary solution of lending us your warehouse blow up ring pool until our pool arrives. I keep making promises to my 4 kids while sitting here in quarantine that are not being fulfilled. We were referred to Classic Pool Spa by a family member who bought a hot tub from them so we called them up and told them we were interested in buying a hot tub. Ron L answered the phone and we got into a conversation about what we wanted. He was very helpful and found us a tub in stock that would suite our needs. We ended up buying it over the phone, prob the easiest sale all week for them. That is where the customer service ended!!!From that point forward he wasn't very helpful. I had to call several times to try and arrange delivery and ended up working with someone else to finally get delivery setup. My husband then called to ask about the electrical needs for the hot tub and he was very short with him and not very helpful. We ended up getting the wiring schematics somewhere else. Finally, when I called to talk about start up after we got our new tub (we are new to hot tub ownership) he was flat out rude and very disrespectful, even hung up on me. We ended up calling the manager at the Beaverton store who was very friendly and helpful. Very disappointed.... I've worked with these people for years. Some of the inside people are good to work with for simply purchasing chemicals but the service department stinks! For 2 years I've tried to get a new pool liner installed. The first time they told me they we booked for the year and to get in line for the next year. I did but there was no follow up on their part. Last year, it should have been easy, but again the ball was dropped... but finally they sent a young man named Payton out to measure the liner and get me ready for this year. So this year I'm waiting... so just make sure there is not a repeat performance I call. Guess what? They try to connect me to Jessica who doesn't return calls. She is supposed to be my salesperson. I call again the next day and get Jessica, She's makes an excuse for the non call then tells me she's sold out for the year and that I'm too late. What?! I did everything (over and over) and she dropped the ball! Unbelievable. There are many other good pool people in town! read more

Ron was very helpful and I got easily the best price & deal in the Portland area on my new Traeger 34 pro series grill. I had done a lot of research on pricing and different deals around town and decided to pop in since they were a Traeger dealer.. I was able to get $100 off the grill price, a free front shelf (which is about $70 on the traeger website) a free cover (another $59 on their website) and a free bag of pellets. I had thrown my back out the day before heading in and I wasn't able to take the grill home in my car that day so Ron delivered it directly to my house the next day for free! Other places wanted $75 to deliver!! From start to finish I had a pleasant shopping experience Ron was very knowledgeable about the product and a big help! I bought a Maax 470 Hot Tub from Classic Pool & Spa in 2009. I have cleaned and maintained the tub on a regular basis. During this ownership I have had to regularly had the gaskets replaced .This occurred 2011, 2014, 2018, and 11/03/2020. The gaskets are plastic rings that break down due to the chemicals in the hot tub reacting with the plastic. In every instance, I had their company come out and make this repair. As you can see, this took place between every 2-4 years. I had always look at this as a necessary repair, and had no problem with it UNTIL TODAY!! Today, March 8, 2021, FOUR MONTHS after my 11/03/20 service, the hot tub began to leak. (historical due to a gasket malfunction.) Obviously WAY short of their normal longevity. I called Classic Pool & Spa, and ask them to please send a repairman to come out and repair either a faulty part, or a faulty repair. Warning!!! Came in and was told about a used spa for sale being refurbished. I was interested and a woman took my info. She talked a lot and guess her family owns this place. She told me she would call me when finished in about three weeks. After a Two weeks and preparing for the spa, I stopped by and she sold the spa. I asked her about holding it for me, and she said she sold it to a woman with scoliosis. She never called and her story kept changing. She's rude a liar cheat and to be honest not that intelligent. Talked with a guy who works there and he validated all this and apologized but nothing he can do.. I bought the 24 inch round above ground pool from them that cost about 4000. The pump went out after two months of using it ( which I know is not their fault) the customer service was horrible. I got no help from them whatsoever they were so rude and unhelpful on the phone. Then when I finally did talk to their service guy he acted like my pump wasn't important and said it would cost as much to fix as a new pump would be. I guess spending that much on a pool isn't worth them helping me out. In my opinion I would never go trough them unless you want zero help after you buy your pool. Horrible customer service. Thee worst communication. Ordered a new Hayward filter with install in early june. Scheduled service for mid July. Well that came and went. Got a call. Bumped us to mid August. What could I do? They have my money. I felt like a hostage. Then day of install they tell me they won't take the old sand from the filter. 300 pounds of sand! Never discussed. Not on a sales agreement. Nothing. What am I going to do with 300 pounds of old dirty sand! Called customer service and was met with the tried and true "sorry it's just our policy" routine from a very slow and not very smart sales person. Again. It's not written on their sales agreement. Or in any email communications. Why would anyone assume that if they're taking the old filter away they would leave the sand behind?? Makes zero sense. No discount but they did offer to come get the sand for an additional 140.00 an hour. Laughable. Not really. They required paying up front for both filter and service. Paying for service up front should of been the first red flag. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Horrible customer service. Longer than normal waiting times and taking 75% of your money up front allowing them to basically do whatever they want with no consequences. By mid August, the work still had not been completed. The construction timelines that were promised were repeatedly ignored. Installation work progressed painfully slowly. I signed a contract with the store manager, SH, to have our in-ground pool liner replaced after multiple calls to get the details accurate. I had to call repeatedly because my calls were rarely returned. I understood that a definite installation date could not be promised by this company for two reasons; the weather had to be above a desired temperature, and they had to have a time slot available between pool installations. After months of waiting with NO updates from SH (or anyone else from this company), I got tired of having to initiate the calls on my own and leaving messages with various individuals to call me back with an update. When I did call and requested to speak with SH, I was placed on hold for an extended period of time, only to be told that a message would be left for SH to call me back. The callback requests were NEVER HONORED!!! After I had given them several months to get their act together, I decided to pursue a cancellation of my contract. I finally spoke to someone who put me on hold, of course, presumably checking with SH, and he cancelled the contract with a full refund of my deposit. He also allowed me to share my experience with the owner who was somewhat empathetic, but offered nothing more than an apology. Dealing with this company was a miserable experience. In short; unacceptably poor communication, excessive and inconsistent price quotes, untrained staff, lack of parts on hand. I contacted them in early October 2019 to repair a non-functioning gas fireplace. The tech they sent was pleasant, but was clearly still learning. My experience with service department was unacceptable. *They consistently did not return phone calls or answer messages. *On three separate occasions they called to confirm appointments that I had never been consulted about. *They went two weeks without contacting or updating me on the progress of ordered parts TWICE! Each time I had to call them for answers only to be told that no progress had been made or that the proposed parts had not even been ordered. *They replaced the incorrect part, and acted as though they were somehow doing me a favor in only charging me for the labor of installing and then uninstalling the unnecessary part. *They quoted me $150 per hour for labor when I made the initial appointment, but then quoted me $195 once the process had actually begun. I have been told that this was their seasonal rate and that I would only have been charged $150, but this was after I had decided to terminate the relationship. I do not trust that they were being honest with me. *Several weeks into the process of trying to get them to complete the job, my furnace died, leaving my home entirely without heat. This is not the company's fault, but had the work been completed in a timely manner, I would not have been left in this position. In early December 2019, I finally contacted the Oregon Construction Contractors Board in Salem and was advised that I could pursue a formal complaint against Classic Pool, Spa and Hearth. I contacted the company to inform them of my plans to do so. It was only at this point that I was put in contact with the office manager (which I was told would happen weeks prior). Ultimately, I did not pay a single cent to this company, but the wasted time and stress of dealing with them is infuriating enough. I had a technician from Haven out to look at the fireplace and he fixed everything on the spot with parts from his van, and charged me less than Classic had proposed for parts alone. PLEASE do not contract with this company for hearth repair. They are not equipped to handle more than the most basic of jobs, and their prices do not reflect this fact. Their service office is very poorly run, and I was more tolerant than I should have been. Save yourself the stress and call someone else, please, for your own sake. read more

We had an above-ground pool installed and it was a smooth and easy process from start to finish. Before we could even start the process, we had a few hurdles to get through in order to put the pool in our desired location (i.e. moving septic lines, etc.). The team at Classic Pool helped us navigate through our issues and was always there when I had questions or needed help. The pool installation went quickly and I was thoroughly impressed with how hard the install team worked and their attention to detail. They know what they're doing and are very professional. In April of 2021 I contacted Classic Pool and Spa because I was in need of a new oval 12x28 flat bottom pool liner. At that time they said they didn't have any and that they would not be able to put in an order because their distributor had closed ordering. I waited a couple weeks and tried back again. This time I was told that they did actually have one in stock and it was mine if I wanted it. I gave my credit card information and then after a week of getting the run around about not being able to find the liner they finally refunded my money. At that time I asked if they would add my name and information to a list to order on their next order. They told me they don't have a list and I'd have to call back to order when they new what the next pricing would be. I was told I would have to call back in September because there would be no ordering until then. Frustrated but I understood with delays on everything all over the world it's not a surprise. I called back on September 2nd and was told they'd already put in their order, ordering was closed, and that was not one of the items they ordered. When asked about adding to the order they said no they couldn't do that. This experience was some of the worst customer service I have ever had. I followed what they advised me to do to order when they said I would have to order and they were not at all helpful and basically advised me there was nothing they could do. It was very unprofessional. No one seemed to be able to give any information about when orders could be taken or what was on the orders that had already gone in except what I needed wasn't ordered. This is for the Gladstone location. So my Family has been using this location for 10+ years, usually no problems and employees are generally pretty happy to service you. This last month we had a technician out to look at our heater, no appointment time, they don't do that he will be there early afternoon, fine. The day rolls around and he shows up, does his thing and leaves. Not a word was spoken to me nor an attempt made to knock a the door. Okay, except I just wanted him out to tell me whats wrong, then move from there. So I go out back to see if the heater is functioning. It was not, it was actually not displaying anything and before he came by it was showing an error code. So I ring up the place and try to see whats going on. They say he is out on other jobs and they will get back to me by the end of the day when they hear from him. Next day rolls around and late afternoon I call them up and try to get an update. They are obviously very busy and I mention so. "no its not busy, its hell" well now that were being completely unprofessional...again i just want to know what is wrong with my heater. She says she will call me back by the end of the day when they figure out what is going on. Next day rolls around and so does the late afternoon. By three pm I call them up a third time to try and learn what is going on. No one will tell me anything and my heater is in worse shape than before they got involved. I get a hold of them finally and am told I have multiple parts ordered for me and a repair appointment two weeks from now. Oh btw "we cant give a quote for those parts but we will let you know as we figure it out". Im upset at this point, so I figure ill use google as my sword and leave a poor review. The next day I get an email form the manager informing me they have to cancel my two week cleaning service because of a bad review id left because of poor service to a long time loyal customer. It is out of warranty, but when I called for service, they said they won't do service calls in Salem and were VERY unapologetic about it. Went in to get my water tested and check out pool hose. Couldn't get anyone to help me...items not priced so I stood in line at the main desk to ask about the price on the vacuum hose. Even though there was someone at the desk he was helping someone else and never once even acknowledged that we were standing there waiting. After about 10 minutes, we moved over to the water testing desk since we needed our water tested anyways. The guy at the desk helped the last in front of us and then walked away to help everyone waiting at the main desk....again, not even acknowledging that we were there. AWFUL AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Integrity lacking/service deplorable. Installed a new gas heater that worked for approximately 6 weeks. Stopped working. Tech insisted it was the gas line (which had effectively been providing gas for our heater for 15 years). Came, changed a part - didn't leave old part (I questioned whether he changed it) was charged for it and the call. Worked with managers for 2.5 months. They never offered to assist at all. Just kept saying it was my gas line - even though gas company came 3 times and stated no problems with gas line. No resolution. Bought a different heater from different vendor. New pool heater works great! No longer using their services and never will. read more

This is a family owned business with two generations working there every day making sure any question or concern we had was handled in a profession manner. We purchased a MAXX spa and had some questions on the operations after it was delivered and the service team came out and took care of our questions and made sure we understood the best way to operate the spa. They are also offer to clean our filters every month on the third saturday of every month as well as check our water sample. I can not say enough on how well Classic Pool and Spa has treated us. TERRIBLE customer service. We purchased an above ground pool and a hot tub from this company four years ago. While they were delightful during the sales process (naturally, we were spending money), every single service call we have had has been an absolutely terrible experience. Our most recent experience was with our hot tub, which took four separate service calls to finally get fixed. From the beginning - call 1: let them know that one of the pumps had died and that they would need to replace the pump; plumbing would need to be rerouted as the pump design had been changed and that they would need to fix two jet housings as they had cracked. Service tech showed up thinking he was to be fixing broken pipes on the pool - whomever arranged his schedule had provided him with pictures of the pool's broken pipes. Broken pool pipes were actually from last year and had already been fixed by them - a year ago. The tech was unable to do anything with the hot tub as he had no parts. Call 2: tech arrived and didn't have the jet housing parts. Was unable to do any work. Call 3: tech didn't have the nuts needed for jet housings or plumbing parts to reroute plumbing in order for pump to fit. Finally, call 4, everything was completed. This was simply the most frustrating experience with a service company ever. I spoke with one of their managers and shared how ridiculously frustrating this entire situation had been and was assured that we would not be charged for three of the service calls. Of course, we receive the invoice today and have been charged for three of the four service calls. Unreal. Never will we deal with this company again and I cannot believe they have been in business as long as they have been with such atrocious service. Run far and run fast. read more

As of now I am extremely frustrated with this company and could not rightfully recommend them. I ordered a new pool chemical automation systems as well as a new booster pump. The technician that came out did not appear to know much of anything about the intellichem system they sold me. As a matter of fact I have had the system now for almost two months and it still doesn't function properly. The alarm is always on and neither of the pumps appear to work. This is after they had to send the Pentair rep out to fix the install of the pumps because they were hooked up wrong. The install of the replacement booster pump should have been a piece of cake. Instead he kept on insisting that my electrician had hooked up the electrical wrong. A little investigating would have led him to a intermittent problem with the on off switch controlling it. I fixed it my self in 10 minutes! One of the feed line is now leaking and sometime was supposed to be here on Wednesday. No one showed. Still leaking. I have now been waiting almost a week for a quite to replace this system with a different model. No call back. I am about through with this place. read more

Horrible Customer Service/Follow up, bought a Swim Spa and a Fire place Insert (Pellet) July 8, 2017 when we got the Swim Spa Aug 30, 2017 it had a blemish on the side rail, finally after endless calls on our part to both Classic and Maax we got a replacement tub Dec 4, 2017. Regarding the Pellet Stove, took forever to get State Inspection due to incompetence of Ian in the office that was suppose to know the laws and set up inspections, he set up wrong inspection then told my husband that we could call and set up appointment, we declined and made him follow through with his duties. Took 4 trips up here to get our surround for the bottom of our stove completed and installed, then we couldn't open the door for cleaning and service due to the surround being in the way of the door handle! Instead of calling them and asking them to come out and fix and have to deal with the incompetence once again we fixed it ourselves. We will never use this company again, if we have issues with our tub or insert we will find another authorized dealer to do the work or go through another store! If you like to do the job for others this would be the company for you to go to, if you believe that spending over $20,000.00 and getting customer service is important I suggest you steer clear of Classic in Gladstone off 82nd Ave!!!
