Everything has its place, and that intentional layout creates a welcoming, relaxed vibe. One of my first suggestions when you walk in: look up. Near the front of the store, the ceiling tiles form an art gallery featuring work from artists who've come through the shop. It's a unique, personal touch that tells you right away this place is built on community and passion. Immediately to your right, there's a well-arranged selection of statues and figurines. From there, the walls guide you around the store with new books, Funko Pops, action figures, and back issues--all tastefully organized. Behind the counter, Steve showcases even more art and collectibles, with a focus on quality over quantity. When I visited, Steve had just picked up a gorgeous Silver Age collection featuring Avengers, X-Men, Captain America, and more. I snapped some photos, but honestly, pictures still don't do the shop justice. You have to see it in person to really appreciate the atmosphere. Each Wednesday brings in new comics, and there's also a great selection of back issues (very well organized) plus comic book supplies. Steve's been in the game since the '90s, so he clearly knows his stuff. Hazel's Heroes could be the perfect first stop on a mini comic book crawl around the Canton area--there are three or four other local shops nearby. And don't forget to say hi to Steve and his wife Amy; they're warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. I have now lived in Ohio for about five months now and so far I have not been impressed by the thrift stores they have to offer. One day I took my daughter to this store called The Retro Attic, she was spending some time with her friend. They wanted to do some shopping. They spend about an hour or so at the Retro Attic and that's when I came to pick them up, but before we left I had to look around the Retro Attic. The Retro Attic is a huge thrift store that offer everything from comics, cds, records, retro toys, cloths, sports memorabilia, videos games, and pretty much everything else retro. The store has two levels and every room is dedicated to a different thing. My favorite room was the room dedicated to the Horror Genre, the room had a huge collection of horror stuff like VHS tapes, Horror Toys, Horror T-Shirts, and many more Horror related items. The Retro Attic also has very reasonable prices. If you ever find yourself driving through Akron Ohio area I highly recommend stopping by the Retro Attic, a place where you can buy a part of your childhood.

It's less an antique mall, and more of a gathering space for the elderly vendors and employees to converse very loudly (likely hard of hearing) about who died recently, whose children no longer visit or speak to them, and who looks older than their age due to their drinking problem. Unbearably hot on my first visit. Uncomfortably warm on my second. On both occasions, vendors/employees made it virtually impossible to browse quietly and leisurely. Do not visit if you are easily susceptible to headaches, as you will absolutely leave with one. The place is cramped. You're always either in someone's way, or finding someone in yours. Some booths are difficult enough to even step into, much less turn around, or to set anything down to make use of your hands. Much of the inventory is drastically overpriced, non-negotiable, and obviously unsold for some time. There's no shortage of antique stores around the Canton area, with friendlier staff and friendlier prices. Save yourself the trip, and skip this one.
