I have been thrifting for about a year and I make the drive to Hartville on a regular basis to…read morevisit Hartville Thrift Shoppe. Located on W. Maple just a couple of blocks from the Hartville Flea Market is a huge thrift store. Open Monday through Saturday, Hartville Thrift is always fun and worth the time. The first thing to check out is the video screens which show the colors of the week: one is 50% off and the other is 99 cents; even without those colors prices are very reasonable, mens shirts are $3, sportscoats are $8, suits are $10. It is also worth checking out the items on the silent auction as you enter the main room, there are usually some cool more expensive items and large collections available. In the main area you will find a ton of clothes, jewelry, shoes, art, toys and assorted other stuff. In the room to your right as you enter there is kitchen items, knick knacks, Christmas items, electronics, sporting goods and more. You will also usually see a couple of tiered carts with items just being brought out, just be ready for people to swarm to see what is available. Further back and further to the right is an area with furniture, hardware, lamps and garden stuff. I have found all kinds of values at Hartville Thrift, from Suit jackets, shirts, masks, figurines and most of those were very cheap. In addition the staff is great, they are friendly and helpful. The selection changes not just daily but can be supplemented at any time. There are going to be times when you don't find anything, other times when you come away with a very nice haul. If you are interested in a unique thrifting experience, it is well worth the trip to Hartville to check out Hartville Thrift Shoppe. With most of the major Thrift Stores reducing the discounts they offer and raising prices it is refreshing to still have a place with a great assortment and offering real values.

It's less an antique mall, and more of a gathering space for the elderly vendors and employees to converse very loudly (likely hard of hearing) about who died recently, whose children no longer visit or speak to them, and who looks older than their age due to their drinking problem. Unbearably hot on my first visit. Uncomfortably warm on my second. On both occasions, vendors/employees made it virtually impossible to browse quietly and leisurely. Do not visit if you are easily susceptible to headaches, as you will absolutely leave with one. The place is cramped. You're always either in someone's way, or finding someone in yours. Some booths are difficult enough to even step into, much less turn around, or to set anything down to make use of your hands. Much of the inventory is drastically overpriced, non-negotiable, and obviously unsold for some time. There's no shortage of antique stores around the Canton area, with friendlier staff and friendlier prices. Save yourself the trip, and skip this one.
