It's taken me a while to write this review because quite honestly I'm still getting over how traumatic the experience was (and yes, I am using the word traumatic correctly). I was referred to Emmy by a co-worker so I was really excited. I will admit that I have had trouble finding a respectful nail tech who does good work in Portland. As soon as I entered the shop, Emmy's sister said something under her breathe. I let it go because I did not want to be paranoid. During the appointment, Emmy's sister left. Emmy was professional and did a great job with doing my nails. Right before my appointment was over, Emmy's sister returned. Her sister came over to me and said, "you're hair makes me want to pull out my flat iron." Mind you I am a Black woman who typically wears her hair natural (often Afro-like). I was shocked, and appalled. I didn't know what to say. She made a gesture as if to touch my hair (without my permission of course), but stopped herself. I told her that I loved my hair and she said, "yeah, God makes us all different for a reason." If that was the extent of this awful experience I may not be writing this post, but it gets worse. Emmy's sister starts to inspects my nails and says something to Emmy not in English, and Emmy responds in English "no she is not broke." At this point I'm like wtf?! I say "no, I'm not broke." Emmy sister says "well your nail art is so basic. People come in here getting basic nail art because they are broke. She has had clients who say they are broke." At that point I am embarrassed and angry. This woman was being so unprofessional and Emmy, the owner of the shop did not stop her from antagonizing me. AND it didn't stop there. Once my nails were done, Emmy and her sister stared at me the entire time waiting for payment as of they were waiting to judge how I was going to pay. When I tell you my hands were shaking, I was so embarrassed, hurt, frustrated. They watched me like a hawk. So much so that when Emmy received an alert to her phone, she said "there it is." (Referring to my payment) and when it wasn't, she said "oh no it isn't." If I could give a zero, I would. I don't know anyone who would have appreciated being disrespected or being antagonized at their nail appointment about their looks or what they can afford. This salon is subpar at best. It is a dirty salon with old/aging equipment and furniture. The layout of the salon is also pretty strange so if you go in with your friend for a manicure you aren't sitting together but all the way on the opposite ends of the salon. This salon is overpriced for the quality of work and they rush through the appointment. They do not use new tools for your nails, which I thought was the standard since COVID. Also, the lady that was doing my sister's nails kept insulting her color choice? She kept saying that her nails were "too simple", when she was just going for bridal nails. Just an overall bad experience. Two shellac manicures cost $80 total- which is more expensive than a nicer salon I go to in Portland (that use new tools and provide refreshments). 100% do not recommend this salon and I will not be back! read more

Full set with the designs and extras that I wanted was $135 I have had these nails for less than a week and although they are beautiful, the gems are falling off. The day after I got them done I lost my first gem and it continued from there. 3 hours to do my nails and regular pedicure. I will say they did have to remove thick gel nails but the lady seem inexperienced at the removal as it took collectively 45-1 hr. Just to remove. The pedicure was mediocre...due to her going back and forth trying to remove my old polish. She tried removing my old polish with an acrylic nail sliding it in between the polish and my nail and ended up making my finger bleed. She was apologetic but it set the tone for the rest of the service as it was uncomfortable. The massage on the chair was terrible. It hurt so much I stopped using it in 2 min. I did get a dipped French manicure and it came out OK the lines are not as sharp as I would prefer and there's a lot of bubbles you can see. There was no hand massage. For $75 (just for colored nails that were mine, OUCH.) I would expect at least that. I have never paid $75 for a French dip manicure. With my own nails. $50 for a basic pedicure with shellac. Super friendly and fun place to get your spa needs done. Emmy is a fun person who does an excellent Pedicure. Another woman did my moms Pedicure did an equally awesome job and was careful around her broken toe. Emmy is clear about prices so they dont sneak anything in. Horrible! I got pedi and mani. The water in the tub was cold. They didn't want to change it. When I got manis done the lady used cuticle scissors that were used. Not sanitized. She took 1.5 hours in my manis. Didn't let me do how I want. I have an infected toe nail. They don't even wash the tubs at all. Rinse only not even use Anything to wipe. The customer service was good and the nails seemed good until I got home and had time to really look at them. They are messy and the polish is broken on top when the excess paint was for the dots. I came in and showed them what I wanted and I guess I kind of got that.... I also don't know why he did the design on my ring finger on one hand and the design on my index finger on the other. A few months back I went to this place to get artificial nails for the first time. I had no clue what to expect, but the experience I had was great. I got beautiful French tips which lasted for a few weeks, and even lasted into having a new color. I've NEVER paid that much for nails with literally no design on them. My friend showed them a picture of exactly what she wanted. A simple blue nail with white flowers. They put rhinestones and a butterfly on them, with out asking, and told her the total was $95. Definitely won't be going here again. While leaving the farmers market on 9/8, we happened upon this little shop. On a whim we decided to get two pedicures and a manicure. One pedicure had a fine massage given by, Emmy. The other pedicure was subpar. The massage was short and with very little pressure. It almost felt as if it were an afterthought. Because the trip in wasn't planned, I had been wearing closed toe shoes, the owner (I'm assuming) suggested doing shellac so that it would be dry immediately and I could put my shoes back on right away. I don't usually like shellac on my toes but figured this would be the best bang for my buck so I agreed. Now it was my oversight to not ask how much the extra charge would be for shellac but I figured it would be like everywhere else ($5-$10 extra). When I got my bill it was an extra $15 dollars! Additionally when I got my manicure, the same skin tickling (massage) was given over about a 30-60 second span of time total. Today is my first full day with my painted finger nails and all but two are chipped or have peeled off. And I have done nothing excessively hard on my nails. I havent even done dishes! Finally, when given my bill of $86 for the two pedis and one mani, I went to give her my card and she tells me that she does not take cards but there is an app I could download to pay her. I understand that it is the shops right to take payment in whichever form they choose but I think that information should be more prevelant than a small chalkboard sign, amongst many others, on the wall. I was very disappointed and was well reminded to not deviate from my well loved salon. I will not be returning. read more

I never thought I'd say this, but I am only giving this salon one star because giving them Zero isn't possible. In theory, I appreciated the owner's focus on "nail health" (which, I think, would have been more effective if their salon hadn't been dirty - whatever you do, ask to use the restroom before you commit to a manicure here. If that doesn't change your mind, nothing will.) However, I came in for a mani-pedi, which is as much or more a cosmetic procedure as a health one. What I left with was--well, I could have done better myself, in less time. The polishes they used (including the top/base coats) were so old that they continually added polish to them in the middle of the manicure to try to thin them to a consistency that wouldn't clump. It didn't work. Not only did the woman leave some of my old polish on when removing the old coats, but I could tell this, because she didn't get the new polish all the way to the edges of my fingers. I left the salon with skips, clumps, polish on my hands... it was like having a child do my nails. I feel really bad for posting this -- in fact, it took me several weeks to do so. The owners seem very nice. And the nail care aspect was good. They just really need to: 1) Clean 2) Invest in new polish 3) Hire someone to actually do the cosmetic aspect of the mani-pedi, if they prefer to focus on the health aspect. I'm going to upload pictures taken in the parking lot after I had my nails done, so folks can see for themselves. Unless you have all day to spend getting your nails painted, and want it to look like a 5 year old did it, avoid this place at all costs. I thought being in the swanky area of downtown Gresham would give this place some class or sophistication, I was mistaken. The shop is run by a nice elderly couple, who asked me nearly every intimate question about myself, including what my dad does for a living and who I live with! I told Mary I had to be at work in an hour and a half, way more than enough time for a shellac color change, usually takes 45 minutes anywhere else you go, and that includes a manicure. I walked out 5 minutes before my shift started. I had to remind her several times that I only had 20 minutes, 10 minutes, etc. I probably really wouldn't have cared if my nails at least looked decent. I got my regular white French tip shellac, always done in two coats, and I always ask for my nails to be cut short and "more white, less pink" to get the illusion of long tips, also my nails grow quickly and I can file them down and still have decent tips. I told Mary in advance for my preference and she acknowledged my request; that meant nothing since I had to ask her several times to cut specific nails shorter, I eventually filed them down and filed off the jagged corners when she walked away to get something. After she globbed the white polish on my thumb and began to shape it, (she in no way painted my nails, the polish was put on in thick globs), I had to ask for a longer tip painted on. She then stared at me in shock and laughed at me. She tried to refuse saying it looked bad if she put more white on, and that it was bad for my nails. I told her that was how I liked it and insisted. She did the rest of my nails with one thick globby coat, two fingers at a time, instead of doing one coat on each nail of an entire hand and drying all the nails at one time under the UV light then repeating the process with a second coat. She had to "fix" nearly all of them. One of the tips isn't even shaped cleanly had has a jagged shape to the line, not cleanly shaped with the brush. When I took my nails out of the UV lamp the shellac was wrinkled and lumpy. When I told Mary I had never seen shellac do that before she acted surprised and said it was normal. She explained that once she put on the clear coat it would smooth out the lumps and wrinkles. It didn't. An hour and a half and $37 later (with $5 tip, it still took her an hour and a half) my nails look lumpy, wrinkly, discolored due to "touch ups" in several spots, and it literally looks like a 5 year old plopped some white polish on and attempted to push it to the tips of my nails. She definitely took her sweet time (and mine), but it sure doesn't show in her work quality. I would never visit this establishment again and would not recommend it to anyone. It literally scares me that they also offer hair care services such as cut and color. I'm amazed they're still in business. read more

I happened in there by chance with my cousin, and I was seated with the owner (Tony? I believe). It was EXCELLENT. We were in no hurry, and my fill/paint was done flawlessly. Also, he warned me no more tips and to take a break as my nails are thin (I've been getting tip/fills for about 5 months straight).
