I love the folks at Clarkson but the initial paperwork in order to be seen is onerous at best. I understand corporate CYA but needing to know my urinary functions to examine my eyes is beyond belief as well as some of the other superfluous questions. a total waste of my time and your valuables employees time. This would be a five star review except for the time wasted filling out BS paperwork for reasons unknown. And forget attempting to contact corporate, no one picks up the phone. My best to all the folks at Clarkson, which was much better when it was a private entity, walk in, see the doc, pay on your way out, kiss (keep it simple stupid) theory in practice. read more

I'm very impressed with Clarkson Eyecare's inventory of stylish up-to date glasses. I visited their optical shop with a new prescription and found their glasses prices to be half what my opthomologist's office charges. A young lady named Raelin did a work up estimate for glasses. She was professional, patient, and excellent. Also a man named Chris gave additional info....saving me a truck load of money. I've had some prescription accuracy problems in the past from another unrelated office and I decided I would call back to Clarkson's and get a full out new exam. The receptionist named Gail was so rude, impatient, disinterested, and unprofessional, that I did make the appointment but I've decided to break it and just use that other new prescription and deal with Raelin or Chris. Gail has a bad attitude and rude tone of voice. She didn't listen when I explained what I needed. Prompting me to say, "If you will just LISTEN for a minute." She has about as much business being a receptionist as I have being a NY debutant. I refuse to deal with that. read more

I came here one time about two months ago because I have a stye that turned into a chalazion. I didn't have a difficult time making the appointment, so I thought that was good. The receptionist was very friendly and they seem to be following social distancing policies, so that was good too. I went into the exam room after about waiting for about ten minutes to see the doctor. I noticed that the appliances they use to perform the eye exams had plastic on it but, was filthy dirty in all the cracks and crevasses. I was grossed out. However, I continued with the exam and was prescribed two months of antibiotics and eye drops. Almost two months later, the problem is still there. I've been trying to contact someone for help for about three weeks and they are closed or will return my call or never answer at all. I was supposed to get a referral to a specialist mailed to me the very next day and didn't receive it for over two weeks. This is unacceptable. I have a problem with my eye and payed this doctor my money and I've requested for new medication because I will have to pay another doctor for an exam before I can get medication from them. This is the worst place I've ever been to and wish I never found them on the internet. Don't go here. read more

Getting an appointment was not a hassle. That's THE only good thing they have. My reviews: 1 star for staff! Question for you ladies.. do you guys know how to SMILE?? I've been to this place 3 times and not once I had given a friendly welcome (over the phone is different). After an exam I wanted to go ahead and get the glasses. The optician, Curtis, told me they don't have any stock and will be ordering. It took 3 WEEKS of waiting... AFter the 3 wks wait I called and found out the optician doesnt work there anymore. So the lady I was talkin to said to wait another week because apparently, the old optician did not get what he's supposed to order for me. WHAT. That's 4 wks total! I went in and got my prescription and going somewhere else! 2 star for the eye doc: Please do not rush your patients. Why do you talk so fast? Also, please do not expect everyone to know all your medical terms without explaining them. read more

Since my last review Dr. Gottlieb has diagnosed and advised me on two potential serious eye conditions. Both turned out fine and Dr. Gottlieb was able to give me piece of mind by throughly diagnosing my eye conditions. He provides much more in eye care aside from our prescription lenses. I can't say enough about Dr. Mark Gottlieb I started seeing him almost 30 years ago after going to a large well known heavily advertised Optical Eye Dr Chain. Yes I got my glasses the same day but even after being reexamined by them I wasn't happy with my vision! I found Dr Mark Gottlieb by luck! I say luck because I just happened to go into his old office and told them what happened. They had a cancelation and I was able to get right in! The first major change I noticed was Dr. Gottlieb spent at least 4-5 times as much time examining me as the other big co Dr. Did The real difference was my prescription change and my vision improvement Wow! ( Happy Dance) Since then I have sent lits of friends and coworkers! The best example of why you should try Dr Mark A. Gottlieb, I referred a Coworker & friend Don E. He also noticed a big change and has since moved to Pensacola Florida But he still travels 6 + hours to still see Dr Mark A. Gottlieb because he has had no luck in finding the quality of Dr and the care and effort he puts into his patients. One last note I heard a patient that was here that had seen other Eye Doctors and the emergency room about an issue they were having Dr Gottlieb quickly diagnosed the problem that needed to be urgently addressed! It had been a while since my last eye exam, last was when I separated from the USN. Wait for my appointment was not long only got through a few pages of a book. Staff is very nice and explained each test being preformed The Dr. Gottilieb and his staff addressed any concerns and explained each step along the way. Everyone had a smile and was great. I was very pleased with the experience and will back in a week or so to pick up my spectacles. read more

I have been searching for a good optometrist for a while. I have been going to different chain opticals, but was ready to try a private practice for a change. I was very pleased with my visit! I did not feel rushed during my exam and the staff was friendly. The doctor spent time with me explaining all the testing and why it's important. Highly recommended! read more

I do not recommend this location. I had a terrible experience and would caution anyone to look at previous comments about the office staff before deciding to be serviced at the Pleasant Hill location. I was sold a display pair of glasses under the impression they were new frames. I ordered glasses nearly over a month ago and was not kept informed about the status of my order. The office manager and front desk staff were deceptive and unpleasant. Over the past six weeks or so I received the run around about the order I placed and I'm disappointed in the lack of customer service I have received. Dr. Mark was great with my eye exam, but it is an unfortunate shame that his office staff does not provide the same level of service. Being given a display pair of glasses that were loose, ill fitted and had sticky glue remains left on them while paying full price was very deceptive and unacceptable. It was unethical to lead me to believe the glasses were new and also a major safety/health hazard as we are in the middle of a pandemic. The office staff should have been upfront about the backorder and allowed me as the customer to make an informed decision about whether or not I wanted to purchase a pair of display frames at which point I should have been given an option to purchase them at a discount. I was led to believe, however, that the glasses I received were the new frames I ordered and that turned out to not be the case. It wasn't until I noticed the sticky tag glue residue that I realized the glasses I paid full price for were not new. When I questioned the office staff about this concern, I was treated unprofessionally by the office manager and was told by the engagement center that the district manager did not have time to speak with me and that I would receive a call back from the district manager later in the week. I was also told there was no one else that could help. I am waiting for my issue to be resolved but again wanted to caution anyone considering this location to think twice. Do your research on the location and go elsewhere for better service! read more

I have been searching for a great optometrist for a while now, and I have finally found them. When I walked in I was greeted by Leigh, who found my appointment and was super friendly. While waiting for my appointment with Dr. Gottlieb, Tim showed me lots of options for glasses. He was also very friendly. After a short wait, Dr. Gottlieb gave me a thorough exam, and was happy to answer any questions I had. They have the latest in technology and the exam was very affordable. Tim then checked me out and when I told him I wanted to wait to get glasses (due to cost), he was very understanding and tried to come up with a couple of cheaper options for me, but at no time did I feel any pressure to buy. I LOVE THIS PLACE and will definitely be going back! read more

Great Optometrist. Dr. Gottlieb is very nice and very professional. His office is clean and organized. His staff is friendly too. He doesn't have a large selection of frames, but who cares when you have an awesome doctor? You just take the perscription somewhere else if you have to. He makes the process of checking eyesight easy with his machines (no more air in the eyeballs..yay!!) and experience. He's no Walmart optometrist, I recommend him to anyone searching for an Optometric physician. read more

Extremely disappointed with the overall care and respect that Sharper Vision has for its patients. I saw Dr. Gottlieb in the office on 2 separate occasions. The first was an initial consult/exam/contact lense fitting 12/16. When I returned because I was uncomfortable with the prescription contact lense I was given 1/17, I was made to feel badly and picky because I couldn't see! The assistant was extremely rude. Dr. Gottlieb called me a "soccer mom" when I described what I do during the day. I found this extremely patronizing and rude. I finally found a prescription that I was comfortable with and ordered a 6 month supply of lenses. I called back 6 months later to refill the prescription and the office gave me the wrong prescription contacts. I was out of town for 5 days for a big event and couldn't see, drive, and had headaches. When I called them to figure out what was going on, there was no apology. They said it was a prescription that I had once been given so it was a clerical mistake when in fact I had only ever ordered one set of contacts from their office. I picked up the new set and requested to look at my chart trying to figure out how they messed up my order. The notes were illegible- sloppy, indecipherable, and not organized in my chart. Even the employee helping me couldn't read the doctor's notes! The optometrist didn't apologize and no one compensated me for my inconvenience. I wouldn't go back to this office or practice. The optometrist calls himself an OPTOMETRIC PHYSICIAN when he isn't a MD or DO. The staff told me he does everything an opthalmologist does except operate (or go to medical school and complete opthalmology residency). Very disappointed! read more

-Pick up the glasses. Sign paperwork for them. The lady just gave them to me and had me sign the paperwork. Did not try them on. -Take them home and test them out. Proscription is too strong (Contacts are okay). -Call to let the doctor know. She says she can see me and check on this. She assures me this is a quick visit, in under 30 mins or less and schedules me for a noon appt. -Show up at noon. Check with the receptionist. She looks at me quizzically when I explain why I am there. "If your contacts work, then your glasses should work." Well, you'd think. That's why I'm seeing the doctor. -Wait 20 mins. -Another receptionist comes to me and tells me that she spoke with the doctor, and if I want to be seen then I'll need to pay for this visit. That's a conversation that could have occurred on the phone. She said that it's been too long between end of December to May for my eyes to change. Well riddle me this--my contacts work just fine. The glasses don't. Perhaps someone should check on the actual pair of glasses to make sure they were made correctly? Or perhaps they could have called me on the phone to let me know they were going to charge for ANOTHER eye exam. Perhaps they could have been on time so I didn't have to wait for nothing. -Not going back. I suggest you go to a doctor's office that values your time and customer service and efficiency. read more

This place is horrible. The first visit should've been a red flag, but i like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Where should i start...... Well the visit with the doctor wasn't that bad, however; his office manager, sales rep, and receptionist are from the pits of hell. These people are not only thieves they are also liars. These people allowed one of their workers to steal my glasses and still expected me to pay for them. They reordered my glasses without my consent and lied to the BBB and my bank on what really happened and why i did not want to further communicate with them. I also found out they over charged me. Patty i believe that's her name.....told me that my insurance does not cover my frames each year.Hmm....come to find out they do. So you all over charged me why?..... One of the reps that was standing behind Patty on the day i was choosing my glasses told me and my fiance that she got the same glasses. So tell me why when she quit....and the glasses got missing? Hmm..... Instead i kept getting phone calls asking me did i pick up my glasses...negative. They do not have me on camera or signing for my glasses, so why are you calling me about my glasses. Instead of trying to cover the last girl that was there. Just tell me that glasses are missing, apologize, talk to me like you have some sense on the phone, try to use your so called customer service skills. Instead Patty yelled at me on the phone (while my co-worker is sitting right beside me, which was embarrassing). I will not ever in my life ever come to this place again. Dr. is very professional, front office was friendly.I was told I would get my glasses in 7-10 days. After 10 days and no phone call, I called them. Much to my surprise my lenses has been broken and would be in sometime next week. I want to add that I told them upon arriving that I had broken my glasses and had nothing else to see with. Curtis (the lab tech) was very short with me on the phone and said, sorry, there is nothing I can do. I called Tuesday (three days later) still not in says Curtis, still very short with me. I asked to speak with the Dr. at that point. He told me to come by and he would give me a pair of contacts to get me thru until my glasses came in. I put them in my eyes and I could see better without them. He didn't ever care enough to make sure I had a pair that I could actually see out of. I might add, I have paid $535.00 in full for glasses that have taken two weeks to get (although as of this posting I still do not have them) this Dr. has a no refund policy, so I can see why they are in no hurry after the sale to help. Well, I have a NO RETURN policy too...won't be going back to them for any of their services. read more
