I have a few pair of kick around pair that I got online, but I wanted to be fitted for a quality pair. My sales reps (yes, plural, two women helped me) were knowledgeable, they helped me understand the difference between the proper snug fit and just plain too tight. Did you know a good fit boot should "flip flop" on the heel a bit? Did you know that snug fit on the top of your foot is expected because a well made boot will stretch? Me either! I went through a process to find what I liked. I tried high end boots and even a few on sale. I landed on an Arait and she felt so good on my foot. I didn't purchase that day because I wanted to try all my options. I made the mistake of going to another boot store on Lynnhaven Parkway--I won't say their name here. The service was like leaving Gucci and going to Walmart! I got a "Let me know if you need some help" yell from the front of the store". No one insisted on taking my boots off--like they did at Acredale: no one explained the leather construction and enforced stitching on the boots; no one explained how to wiggle my toes to squeeze into the boot--in fact, all I got from the employee was how she liked square toed boots and not the snip toes I was considering, and how every boot I looked at she already bought that boot. I left quickly and I already know I am gong to return to Acredale! In a day and time that customer service has gone to the way side, the customer service you receive here is nothing short of amazing. You need not worry, I will be back.

The employees at Running Etc will first watch you walk and then pull out of few show selections that they recommend for you. My arches feel supported and my heels feel like they are nuzzled in on cuddly pillows. They feel so amazing that I want to wear them ALL THE TIME. My husband was also In recently to get fitted and he chose the Hoka Bondi. They also carry great sunglasses at reasonable prices that are perfect for runners. My son needed a pair so I sent him in for those. You can't ask for better customer service and great selection.

If it were possible to give this store less than one star, I would do it without reservation…read more My wife bought me a premium hat through their online storefront some months ago. She placed the order in October, and it arrived in January, which was expected, given the time required to make and ship the item. The total cost was over $500, but she felt comfortable buying online because my hat size is well-established, given that I've been wearing cowboy hats for 25 years now. Additionally, Pungo Ridge advertizes a return policy that they claim allows you to return an item if you're not satisfied with it. So she didn't see any issue in placing this order through this vendor. When we received the hat in early January, we immediately noticed that there were three major issues with it. First of all, the brim of the hat was creased in a really odd, almost clownish style that was nothing like what she had ordered. Second, the lining of the hat was installed haphazardly, so that it looked crooked and off-center. Totally unacceptable for such an expensive hat. And last but most importantly, the hat was at least one size too small for me to wear, a major discrepancy in sizing. So we reached out to Kelley at Pungo Ridge to see about either returning the hat or having it altered to the specifications that my wife had ordered. She was very accommodating at first, expressing concern and offering to help. After exchanging several messages, she said that the manufacturer would be contacting us in a few days with return instructions for the hat. We thanked her and waited to hear from the manufacturer's rep. Unfortunately, the hat's manufacturer never contacted us. After three weeks, my wife reached out to Kelley again to find out the status of our return, but her messages were ignored. My wife even called the store and received no reply to the voicemail she left. So after $500 spent and all the back and forth, we were left with a very expensive hat that I can't wear. The sad thing is that, even if the sizing were fixed, I don't really even want it, because the quality is a lot less than you'd expect from a $500 hat. So it's a total loss for us at this point. The bottom line is that my wife ordered a very expensive item from Pungo Ridge, and when it wasn't delivered as ordered, Pungo Ridge did not stand behind it with good customer service. That's the critical test for any retailer--what they do to help you when things go wrong with an order. In our experience, Pungo Ridge failed that test completely.

I used to shop here all the time growing up to get my dance wear. For years they seemed to have…read moregood service, never had any issues but things went pretty downhill when I started needing pointe shoes. It's been a couple years since this happened and I now dance in Florida (I just went to a dance wear store down here and had a completely different experience which reminded me of my experience here and I wanted to warn others). The first time I got fitted for pointe shoes- the saleswoman (maybe in her 40s or 50s I would say? Not sure if she's the owner, had short black/brown hair at the time) was SUPER condescending about my feet and made me feel like I was a burden to her because my feet were "so flat" and made more than one comment about it. Mind you I was like 13 at the time and already insecure enough about my body. Whatever- it was my first time being fitted for shoes and it's like the only dance store in Virginia Beach so my mom and I just bought them and left. Getting your first pair is supposed to be fun and memorable and she tainted that experience for me. The second time- maybe a few months later- My dance teacher recommended I try new shoes because she wasn't sure if the ones I was given were the right fit anymore. When I went back, I brought my old pair but let them know what my dance teacher recommended about possibly trying a different brand and they let me know it was going to be I believe another $10 to be fitted for new ones. The woman (same one we had a poor experience with the first time) had me try on two pairs. Two. From the same brand as my old shoes because she said I just might need a different size. Wow what a time consuming process! Totally worthy of being tacked on a $10 fee! When my mother inquired more about the fee and expressed her frustration because the shoes were nearly $100 and that process only took her maybe 5 minutes- the saleswoman just yelled, complained, insulted my mother and said we could take our business elsewhere. So we did. Had to drive to a different store in Chesapeake, but I had a great experience, the saleswoman was very complimentary, had nothing but posts things to say about my feet and recommended a completely different brand to me that ended up feeling a thousand times better. No fee. She spent a good 20 minutes with me making sure they felt good. This was my go-to dance wear store growing up and it's really terrible this happened. Do better.

The service remains top notch and was immediate. I needed a replacement shoe for my four year broken down everyday Hoka's. I have really loved the brand and hoped to stay in them. But was also open to try others. The sales guy understood my needs and confirmed my old Hoka's were trash. They upgraded the Bondi I'm in to the 10, so he started with that. However, he first had me walk up and down to evaluate my gait. He measured my feet. He pulled out around six colors to choose from and I tried on a pair and walked again for evaluation. They felt much better than my broken down sneaks. After an inspection of the laces and the way my toes were in the box he pulled out a wide shoe from the back. They only came in three colors, but the gray is what I wanted anyway. After walking again the wide shoe felt the best and more comfortable in the toe box. My previous shoes were regular width. We also discussed socks that would be more beneficial for walking and jogging avoiding cotton at all cost. Cotton retains moisture, that can cause blisters. So go with synthetics, or wool. I tried on a synthetic by Feetures that felt great and picked up a pair to purchase with new shoes. I wore my new ones out and they recycled my old ones and the box. Hoka's are not a cheap brand. So expect $165 and up. Checkout was smooth on my card. Running Etc is a unique experience on service as I described. They know the sport of running, they know their products and best of all the know how to satisfy their customers with phenomenal service. Whole heartedly recommend!!!
