CK Smith has been my oil provider for over 5 years. I have their top tier maintenance plan as well because my boiler is 43 years old. They inspected it and offered me the service plan without any issues. I will say this about CK Smith - they are outstanding to deal with, always provide prompt service, they will do whatever it takes to get the job done right. Not to mention they want 4.90 per gallon and it's 4.80 at the pump with the 25 cent road tax so they are price gouging big time don't use. You've been warned. read more

I switched to CK Smith after a terrible experience with a competitor. Unfortunately, we just couldn't seem to work out communication issues (wrong email addresses, bills that didn't seem to line up with payments). The last straw was being billed multiple times for a budget plan we had not agreed to, having never received the terms of the plan. We were eventually told that the plans renew automatically. (I am not convinced you can renew a plan where the terms have changed without express approval, but whatever.) The plan terms arrived a week after I told them we switched companies. The office staff were polite on the phone, techs arrived on time and were professional. Pricing was about average. Did not love the website or the online system. read more

Consumer beware! This company is completely unresponsive, disrespectful when they do speak to you, they have no clue what customer service is. They installed a brand new propane fireplace and propane tank in my house one year ago. This fall I had difficulty trying to light the pilot light in my new fireplace. I called there service line for some assistance. They set up an appointment five days later between the hours of 9 AM and 12 PM. At 2 PM, I had to call and ask if the technician was going to be arriving. The very nice customer service lady informed me that they received a more important job that the technician needed to be sent to and he wasn't going to be available that day. I asked her if they ever thought to call me and inform me of that because I took a day off of work to be at home so they could service my fireplace. She apologized and made some phone calls to see what they can do. They sent a "service tech" that afternoon but all he brought was a lighter. Sloppily dressed. His own personal pick up truck. No tool box. No supplies. No replacement parts of any variety. Just simply a dollar store later...... Now folks, I'm a very handy individual and tried repairing my fireplace myself and I also possess a lighter but what I worked on didn't work therefore I called them for their assistance. After 45 minutes of fiddling around in my fireplace and breaking one of the ceramic firelogs (see the picture) the service tech tells me that I need new sensors for my one-year-old unit. How he and his lighter were able to determine that are well beyond me because he admitted he doesn't know how the system works. He thought he was just coming to help light a pilot light and that's all he was capable of doing It is now been three weeks since they came to "service" my fireplace and I have yet to hear from anyone with competence at this organization. They had a joker by the name of David Bassett call me Who was very rude and disrespectful from the opening seconds of the phone call. In a very stern voice as if I was being disrespectful to him by inquiring about the sensors i need, he tells me " I told you three weeks ago that we are waiting on parts and we will call you when they're available and will set up an appointment to come fix your fireplace" as if me calling three weeks after our previous conversation was me being a little too pussy to find out why I don't have heat in my house. I will be doing everything I can to spread the word about this very terribly Ron poorly managed dissed respect full company and I'm very much looking forward to talking to Mr. CK Smith next week to understand what is going to be done not only with my fireplace but the rude and disrespectful people that they allowed to manage their customers. You as a consumer have a choice. Do yourself a favor and cross CK Smith off your list for any of your heating and propane needs!!! read more

We had a couple of different issues regarding service to our tank, but they sent someone two days after to fix it and he was awesome. We had a misunderstanding on the phone that we were trying to resolve. Pat, the reception, was rude and did not listen to what we were trying to tell her. We thought we spent $400 for nothing. We later found out that we did in fact get what we paid for, but Pat did not explain it in an efficient way, resulting in more confusion and conflict. She could have been nicer in explaining the situation, but she wasn't, so we were transferred to the customer service manager, Marcia. I give Marcia these stars because she was absolutely great, she was professional and helped us fix the situation in a calm manner, without the stress from the previous person we spoke to. Marcia was great and I highly recommend speaking to her if you have an issue. She's the reason we will keep returning. read more

Three years ago, CKSmith installed a new heating system. Wonderful and very efficient techs checked it every year. In retirement, it is a great comfort to do business with a reliable company. Recently there were problems with the thermostat and a tech was promptly sent out to resolve the problem and install a new thermostat. Within days I had a power outage that shut me down again. Where a previous oil company might talk me thru the reset by phone, CKSmith sent a tech who patiently reset the system and reassured me that everything was okay. Most comforting. read more

We had a brand new $9000 Furnace and Water Heater installed in our Worcester home that we paid in full 2 days ago that was recommended by this company. It has broken 3 times now in the first 48 hours. On top of that it's winter with no heat and we have a 4-month-old baby!! Waking up at 6 A.M to a house that is 50 degrees is beyond unacceptable! Let's go down this fun course of events, because we have a very strong feeling it is not the last of these great times. * Day 1 - 3 hours after install and the crew has left our basement starts filling with water. Their tech discovers after walking into our house and jokingly saying "I hear you have a new pool" finds it was pressurized improperly and has to readjust it so it would stop "burping" water. Great, oh and I had to make the suggestion on turning the furnace off to see if the pressure is off, do I know anything about furnaces ...NO, was this guy about to leave without doing anything.... YES! * Night 1 - We wake up to a freezing house while our 4-month-old baby is crying to a non-working furnace and zero heat. Oh, by the way it is 17 degrees out. We call the emergency line again and they send a tech that takes an hour and a half to get here and he gets to work. He is not sure what it is but replaces our oil tank filter and what he says is a "bad nozzle". He says, "these can sit at the factory for a while and they can go bad", wow glad they are using "NEW PARTS" on our "NEW $9000 furnace"? It starts running and we are now a bit paranoid and worried about what could be next since we hear heat during the winter is important, especially for keeping a 4-month-old baby warm. Oh, and I had to miss half a day of work because of this. * Day 2 - I go to my job in Rhode Island and at almost 12 P.M on the dot my wife calls me extremely mad that once again the furnace is not running and the screen on this "New Furnace" say "power fault". They are now sending their "Head tech" to check it out and I have to leave work early and miss almost a full day. So, are the other techs the garbage techs they sent before?? I will continue this story since I am sure this is not the last of this winter fun. read more

My 81-year-old father got an oil delivery from these people on December 29, 2017. they charged him $3.49 a gallon when the going rate for every other oil company in central mass is $2.70 a gallon or less. No not customer friendly, they are predatory marketing. They talk sweet that is all. They don't disclose any of the terms and conditions before hand and upon asking, no confirmatory answers. I invited them for a survey of my place for a propane tank installation. The representative arrived on time and offered his solutions and spoke about codes and conduct. Here you go, all is verbal. The rep said he has been doing it for a long time and he knows the codes. He did not bring the code book, did not furnish any evidence of code. They probably don't have a copy of the code book in the office either. When I requested the copy of the code, he vaguely said that their office has recently moved and would take a while to find the code book. It has been a while, they never got back to me. Consumers, beware, they must show you a copy of the copy of the code. I have placed a formal complaint to Mass.gov read more

These guys are "OK" about half the time. They have good technicians, and bad technicians. (The last guy installed an un-necessary short length of fuel line without asking me and then told me it would be $40). Their fuel prices are questionable. But when they increase their fuel tank insurance from $49.95 to $74.95 (that's a 50% increase) you'd expect they'd be ready with a very, very good explanation. The explanation from a young telephone answerer? "Steel prices have increased." OK, so I Google steel price increases and Trump's tariffs increased the cost of steel to US manufacturers to an average of 22.4%. How that justifies a 50% increase of insurance to customers is beyond me. Looks the $$$ profits to me. read more

i had Kevin as a new account Rep and he was so polite i didn't know if i was actually dealing with a oil company he was super easy and informative. Also the tech that came out to my house Cant remember the name was just as good honest easy to talk to polite and gave some good tips. Only Gripe i have is a very small one that i think is just a breakdown of communication was when he was quoting me price per gallon i was told $2.39 Written Quote(Still have Paperwork) as a first time fill price and after getting my delivery i see that i was charged 2.59 and to get the 2.49 price i would have to pay in 10 days and that the 2.39 price was not even possible. At the end of the day the 36$ extra is not going to change my life but i would prefer to have the right hand knowing what the left is saying because it creates a bad taste in customers mouth and makes it hard to trust the company and the employees at their word i will be recording interactions from now on. read more

We had to place an after-hours call when our oil burner began going off on reset. The phone rep was able to get hold of the on-call tech quickly, and Brandon was quick to come over.
