I hoped for resolution as a previously happy customer who pays Obie monthly to be members for system maintenance. I had 3 minisplits installed in Aug of 2023, which recently displayed an error code. After paying Obie $360 for a diagnostic test, we were told we "likely" had a leak, and we'd have to pay $3600 for a leak search. If it's a defective installation, Obie covers the costs, but if they installed a defective product that failed less than 2 years after install, then we are responsible for the search ($3600) and labor costs associated with fixing the leak, as well as refilling the refrigerant that leaked. They confirmed this scenario would cost me approximately $6000 in total. We pay Obie monthly for regular maintenance as members, most recently a few months ago. Their warranty for labor is 1 year, so if your relatively new system fails, you may be on the hook for several thousands dollars for both search and repair. Obie does cover this issue if it's an installation issue, but we have to pay $3600 for the search to find out. After expressing our disappointment, they offered to do the search for $1975, but if they discover a product failure, this will cost us $3000-4000 more, which doesn't sit well with us considering this system failed due to no fault of ours and with their company's own regularly scheduled maintenance. My advice would be to look elsewhere for a company that has a longer labor warranty and is willing to provide more assurances on how they will address complications if their product or installation becomes defective within the first few years. Obie sold us on these units to last at least 10 years with good maintenance, and now feel I was essentially sold a lemon. I asked to speak with the owner, and was told he was out of the country, then was subsequently told he wouldn't be involved/ would not call me to discuss. I've maintained the search be done at no cost to us, and I'd pay for the labor of a product issue, which I find more than reasonable for a new system, but they prefer to lose my business, my referrals, and my monthly payments for maintenance. I will credit them that communication has been prompt with their operations team, but their expectation for customers to pay thousands of dollars to find a leak on $20k unit installed less than 2 years ago, and potentially paying thousands more to fix it, feels unprofessional, and frankly unethical. As a customer, this is simply not good customer service nor a good value for my money. They will respond to my review that they will stand by their installation but since, I'm out of 1 year labor warranty, but if it's a product issue, I'm expected to assume it the cost of the search, the labor costs, and the refrigerant refill ($1200-2200 alone) so just be warned. I asked to speak with the salesperson who I worked with, as we had good rapport, but I was told he doesn't work for Obie anymore.. also unfortunate. I hoped that Obie would want to partner with us to make this right, but instead customers are expected to absorb excessive costs. Again, I could understand this for an old system with wear and tear, but this was installed less than 2 years ago. Look elsewhere. read more

When I found it and asked to get the money back, they reluctantly agreed, but placed me on the do not service list. We paid about $11,500 to have a new a/c system installed in a small, less than 1,000 square foot home six years ago. Three years after the install, the unit was not cooling. The service technician suspected a refrigerant leak and recommended that we refill the refrigerant with a dye so that, if it leaked again, the location of the leak would be easy to identify. The leak is a slow leak and the refrigerant lasted for 3 more years. Now, they want over $2,000 to repair the leak and have not bothered to check for any dye stain used the first time. The company charges $130 for coming out to take a look at the unit each time. Of course, due to the time elapsed, there is no warranty coverage even though this leak was probably there from Day 1. The office person was rude and unhelpful. I asked to speak to Obie, the very nice owner who I've met before, and haven't heard back. I assume I won't. I will avoid doing business with this company in the future. What a terrible experience. I was happy to support a local business and am very disappointed. read more

I was a long-time customer of Obie Comfort Solutions, but unfortunately there was a major problem with my most recent experience. Long story short, the company sold me a heat pump that did not function as promised and that ultimately had to be replaced, and they have done nothing to remedy the situation. In the spring of 2021, I decided to replace my old gas boiler with a heat pump. This was on the advice of an Obie technician who assured me that the heat pump could serve as the primary heating source for my entire home, which had existing ductwork in place. Unfortunately, the unit turned out to be an improper fit. That winter, the pipes on the first floor froze during the coldest days, and I had to turn the old boiler on. I had been planning a major home renovation anyway, and at that time the Obie technician told me that when the renovations begin, they could address some of the issues with the ductwork. In winter of 2022 we began the renovation, and my contractor reached out to Obie to see about remedying the issue. The technician I had originally worked with had since left the company, and my contractor was never able to reach a senior person at Obie to find a solution. What's more, my contractor determined that the heat pump Obie had sold me was improperly sized for my home in the first place. For several weeks, we were unable to reach a senior person at Obie to talk through the issue, and Obie offered no solutions despite our reaching out multiple times. Ultimately, I went with my contractor's advice and replaced the 2-year-old heat pump with two smaller heat pumps in two locations in the house. I managed to reach the company's owner, Oberlan Rosa, a couple of weeks ago, and we discussed the issue on the phone. After explaining the issue, which he said he was unaware of until then, he said he could provide me with some compensation to make things right. However, he has not since responded to my emails or text messages. I paid $13,555 for a heat pump and installation, and heat pumps typically last 15 years. The unit I was sold never properly heated my home, and despite many, many attempts, Obie Comfort Solutions has not made it right. read more

Our 25-year-old American Standard gas furnace was on its last legs when we put down a $5,000 deposit with another large local provider for a Trane furnace. After we paid the deposit, they notified us that the project would be delayed for one month due to COVID supply issues. I did web search on what typical cost of capacitor change. Angi's list showed max up to $350 based on year 2023 data. I was quite disappointed on almost double the charge. Had an appointment, claiming to be arriving between 2:00-4:00pm. It is 7:00pm and no one showed up. I even called them twice, both times they claimed to deliver the message and have the technician/dispatcher call me back. However, no one ever called me back or contacted me via any way. I have taken the afternoon off from work and it is totally wasted. If the technician cannot make it on time, the least they can do is to reach out to me and let me know beforehand. read more

Ok, fast forward two years and they have me on an annual maintenance agreement, which they've changed my furnace filter (with filters I had on hand) supposedly cleaned the furnace (I know they removed the cover plate as they didn't replace all the screws) I never rec'd a call, email or report of any kind. Now the they want to schedule a check up on my central AC the last week in August??? You'd think this would be done in the Spring (the person on the phone said it just started getting warm enough to conduct those checkups. I guess she was living under a rock the month of July during the heat wave). And as with the furnace, I've never rec'd a phone call, email or written report of any kind for my AC checkups. Just moved to Southborough, MA. Spent days looking for a Mass Save friendly team that is quality and friendly. I'm neurotic (I'm sure Vicki will disagree - thanks BTW). Jeff came out to our location to do an assessment. Danilo was our project manager/lead, Axel and Edwin were our specialists, and electrical work was performed by Eugene and Cole. There were others who did a lot of work whom I did not get to meet. I gladly bought lunch for the team both days, and tipped (I hope enough). The short of it - the team was very professional, courteous, and respectful of our home. They were cautious with COVID precautions, and our cats! They worked swiftly, cautiously, diligently, and with excellence! Got a new furnace, heat pump, new ductwork, and new supply and returns in less than 2 full days. They weren't the most expensive, and not the cheapest quotes - but damn, they were worth every last penny. Since I did a major job with them (described above) - I don't mind the free service for a year. I definitely plan to contract them after; as long as the team above is still with them... The service is so bad. I will give them 0 if there is an option. They cannot resolve the simple water heater problem for 4 weeks. Can you imagine that you live in a house without hot water for 4 weeks? they are only interested in collecting money. let me detail what happened: install a faulty unit. the instrument is completely broken just after one year warranty. many visits to change the parts and diagnose without fixing units. the total cost of repair (without fixing) so far is almost the same as installing a new instrument. UNPROFESSIONAL TECHNICIANS... Very disappointed with the services. I called them the first time (a year ago) to fix my AC because there was an error code on the thermostats. They sent me a technician named Amir. He couldn't figure out the problem, needed to call for help and remotely fixed the issue. He convinced us to sign up their Club Membership, paying $9.95 each month to get a cooling annual check-up for the year. Now, I am 100% to say I wrongly signed up. Because last week was the maintenance. They sent me a technician named Danilo. He said he needed to open the evaporator coils in order to clean inside. When he started to unscrew the top opener of the machine, I stopped him because he was bending on the refrigerant pipes. I can tell he had a broken foot issued; he was trying to lean against it because he wasn't able to stand still. Again, he called for help, but nobody answer. So he advised us to reschedule because he said he didn't know how to open it. He took a picture of our AC and the model #. So, I called to reschedule and advised the customer service to send me a professional technician who is familiar with the Mitsubishi model. A week later, the same technician Danilo came again with an additional technician Ethan. They both unscrewed the top and bottom of the evaporator. But no cleaning was done because they said they could not find out the way to clean it. ????? I don't know what to say. Then they both checked the outdoor unit. Danilo was using a gauge set to check the pressure. All the sudden, smoke flied out from the AC unit. Everyone was backing up. Ethan told Danilo to stop it right away, and asked him what kind of tools he used. I asked Ethan what was happening. He said Freon was leaking. I guess it could be Danilo was using either a broken tool or a cheap tool or inexperienced technique in order to have this incident according to their conversations. As a result, he burned his fingers too. At this point, I was very regret to sign up this stupid membership. None of a proper work was done. I paid for nothing (total $120) for this kind of AC maintenance. The most important thing is that Obie DO NOT has any experience technicians. My questions: (1) Why are they sending me the same guy for the 2nd time as I requested a technician who can deal with Mitsubishi model? (2) Why Danilo took pictures of my AC unit & model #, but not doing some research before coming for the 2nd time? (3) Why Obie sent me either new or trainee technicians? Gathering all of these incidents and unprofessional services, I am afraid this is not considering a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor. This is definitely not a company I can trust. read more

I have called them many times and the rep on the phone (Tiara?) answered all my questions and was very helpful. I had Amir and Ethan come to my house to fix my AC/heat and both were excellent. They call you when they are on their way, let you know clearly what everything will cost, and and are helpful with explaining things. During routine annual maintenance of my central A/C system, the technician forgot to plug back in the small pump that diverts accumulated water to the main drain pipe. During a hot 3-day stretch a few days later, the A/C ran almost continuously and the reservoir on the pump overflowed and on a Sunday night, I discovered a moderate amount of water in both the finished and unfinished sections of my basement. A corner of my carpeted family room and the woodwork along the floor was also damaged, I quickly saw the problem and replugged the pump to avoid additional damage. I called Obie on Monday morning and the same technician returned later that day. He confirmed his mistake and apologized for the oversight and damage. He took photos and made notes of the damage. I also asked that Obie be responsible for the cost of the dehumidifier that I purchased earlier in the day to dry out the basement. A few days later, Obie sent two men of to repair and repaint the woodwork at the base of my wall that was water damaged. The did a great job and were very professional and courteous. A few days after that, a check came in the mail reimbursing me for the dehumidifier I purchaser. The dehumidifier dried out the carpet and liner and I reinstalled it. My basement is back to normal. While it was a mistake that could have easily been avoided, mistakes do occur. Obie accepted complete responsibility and worked with me to quickly resolve the problem. Over 4 days...the technicians placed all of the ductwork and the a/c units to cool our home. The level of professionalism and quality of work was exceptional. I wanted to replace a furnace and a water heater....which for me was a significant expenditure. I selected Obie to evaluate, which I thought was a good choice based on some Yelp reviews, and I like to support local companies. Obie's website states that the company provides personalized service where... "we make sure you receive the attention that any single one of our friends would receive. You won't be just another number." Well they must not have many friends because the attention I received was very disappointing. After receiving a quote, I had a few simple follow-up questions. They ignored several requests to answer my questions. It was a frustrating and aggravating experience....a waste of time. After a month had passed, I sent them a final message saying don't bother answering my questions (not that they were going to anyway) and I will not be doing business with them. Do you know they replied back to me on the very SAME DAY.... saying they were "sorry for my frustration and wished me the best". Unbelievable. I hope Obie's management and owner make the necessary changes to improve service and the overall customer experience. There's no need to lose business like this. read more

I really wanted to like these guys. Their tech that came to confirm the problem so that I could competitive bid the replacement of my furnace was great. However, over a week has gone by without receiving a quote for repair or replacement. Multiple calls over multiple days to get something in hand since I was without heat on the bedroom floor of my house and all I got were excuses as to why the single person who has access to that "info" is unavailable, hopefully tomorrow, then "sorry" hopefully today... But patience has its limits. My recommendation for them is to cross train your employees to meet the needs of the customer. One person cannot be the only one with access to systems. Second is to be honest and real with customers. Don't set an expectation that a quote will be received in 24-48 hours, then go a week with no answers. That's not how to win business. I will not recommend or turn to Obie for my future needs, instead, I will continue working with my current HVAC company - as will my friends. read more

Called Obie as Eversource recommended them for converting our home from oil to gas. Made the appointment for a week later and at this point, we already had 4 other companies come out for quotes so we knew the types of services other places were offering. The contractor showed up late to our house but was extremely informative and my husband actually liked him the best out of all the other people we had come over. He said we would have the quote in a few days. Mind you, all the other companies who came out to quote us had a quote in my email anywhere from 24-72 hours later. I waited one week and called and was told "oh you must have had Marty come out to your house - we have problems with him". I was then told that they would look into the matter and they would call me back. I called again with no answer and then waited two more days and got through and was put on hold as the woman said Jason was looking into it and to call back by the end of the day if no one called me. I called back and no answer. We waited another 2 days and then my husband called back and had words with Vicky who hung up on him because she had no answers for us and Jason was out of the office - assuming he is in charge? My husband called back again and spoke to another woman who said she would have the contractor call us. He did end up calling us right back and said he was sick and out of work for 2 weeks and he was sorry and would have a quote to us.... we never received a quote and we never received any phone call back from Vicky or Jason on what is going on. It has now been 3 weeks since our original appointment and its been dead silence. Vicky told my husband they lose business all the time from people not receiving quotes and my question is - if you are losing business due to poor business etiquette, why are these people still working for you?! Total waste of time. Thankfully my husband didn't take time out of work for that appointment as it was a scheduled day off. Too bad as we probably would have went with this company due to contractor's knowledge at the visit for this project. Due to the severe lack of business etiquette and efficiency - and the fact that we still have NO QUOTE - you lost a customer. *UPDATE* - Company saw my review and instead of calling me and apologizing they had the contractor call us and say they cannot give us a quote anymore because we wrote a bad review on here!!!!! He also apologized again for being sick and did not understand why the company never told us he was out of work. So now you deny potential customers what we are owed because they complained online for the world to see? Completely unbelievable. read more

I have a contract with Obie for heating and air conditioning service and repair and pay for the privilege. I called with an emergency (flooding into the basement from a pipe coming from the furnace). Obie did not have anyone available until morning. When I called back minutes later after turning off the water main, they only offered to come the next day in the afternoon during the regular schedule. They changed the story and only after I complained, they said they would notify the person doing the repair to call me in the morning - I have no faith they will call. Wow. This is the worst HVAC company of all time. How do we even begin? We purchased a new home this summer. New homes in MA get a 1 year warranty on anything that goes wrong with them. Obie was hired by the builder to check the system before we moved in and to maintain if it breaks. Well, in the middle of July, after we move in, when it's almost 100 degrees out, our A/C turns out to be broken. We contact the builder who says the HVAC people will be over soon. Almost 2 weeks go by and we don't hear from anyone. After more calls, the builder finally gives us Obie's contact info directly and we set an appointment up to get the A/C looked at. Of course, they never show up. That's no show #1. Another week goes by, and Obie shows up! ...To install into the unit next door. I go out and ask them why they haven't shown. They say "oh, we're the install people, not the maintenance people". What the F? After I harass them some more, they finally came out to look at the A/C. Guess who shows up? One of the same guys who was "not a maintenance person". Sigh. So after at least 4 weeks, the A/C is finally fixed. Yay. We hoped that would be last of it, but no, oh no. Fastforward to a few weeks before Thanksgiving. It starts getting cold, as it is wont to do here in New England, and we turn the heat on. Surprise, the heat does not work on the second floor at all, and keeps turning off on the first floor every few hours and needs to be manually restarted. So we call Obie to come out and take a look at it. We agree on a day and time and huddle up in the meantime. Time we agreed on comes and there's nobody here, surprise surprise. No show #2. I called no less than 6 times before Obie finally showed up to look at it. They worked on the first floor a bit then took a look at the second floor. The first floor they claimed was "fixed", but the second floor apparently needed a new part to fix it. So we agreed on the next business day for them to get the part and come back and replace it. Sounds good, right? Oh, but I should have known better. About 5 weeks later, I leave two dozen phone calls and get no replies to my messages, and it's now December and even colder than before. The first floor heating is still having problems and the second floor heat is still broken. This results in our pipes freezing (fortunately not bursting) two days before Christmas. Merry Christmas from your local HVAC company! So I call yet again and finally get ahold of Obie. I scream bloody murder about the pipes and they agree to come out the next day. They don't. No show #3. After Christmas, we call again and they agree to come out the next day in the morning. They don't, of course. No show #4. Finally, finally, they show up again to fix the second floor heat. Guess what? It's the wrong part. Oh but don't worry, they'll be out again on Monday (today) to fix it. Yeah, guess what happened? No show #5, of course. I'm done. These guys are the worst. Ever. Of all time. read more

I was confused by all the options and each company (4 of them) I contacted provided information about the pros/cons of each. I went with a 2 zoned system of central air with a two-stage variable speed Bosch furnace. and couldn't be happier. The office staff was very helpful and friendly and guided me through the process of applying for a Mass Save loan and the rebates. Obie Comfort Solutions is fantastic. Our AC was not working and we searched for a few different companies. A bunch of them were able to send out a technician, but the service was not to our liking. We were told that we had to replace the entire AC unit and they sent us a quote that was outrageous in price, especially because they want to sell us an older unit, for which the manufacture does not even produce those units anymore. So, if anything happened to it, servicing it, would be very difficult or nearly impossible. If that was not enough, they left us with no AC in the middle of the summer, where temperatures were reaching middle 90s. I called Obie Solutions and they came by the house right away. They fixed my AC unit, which will need replacing soon, but I at least have something working while I wait for the new one to be installed. The staff was incredibly friendly and I felt that I was being treated with respect and fairly. I truly recommend Obie Comfort Solutions. We purchased our 1st home in Natick and quickly realized the first day we moved in the sellers sold us the house with a broken furnace! We called so many people, even an emergency call which cost us $250 with ridiculous furnace prices. Finally a co-worker referred us to Obie and thank GOD they did! They came out immediately (at no charge) with the best prices around. They also knew we were desperate for heat as a cold front came in, They did an emergency weekend install (which was 1 day turn around time) at no additional fee. All the people in my home were very respectful, explained to us what work they were doing, worked really hard, and overall did an excellent job. They were very thorough and had to redo everything as the heating system in my house was so hacked! The job was so big some HVAC companies refused to do the job as "it was too complicated" Obie did the job in a timely manner with the best quality of work. If you want trust worthy professionals who take pride in their work and customer service call Obie. Not only do they have the best prices ( we received a 98.5 efficient furnace with wifi thermostat) but by far this has been my best experience buying such a large purchase. read more

Obie has really fallen off a cliff in the past few months. Multiple dropped appointments with no contact beforehand, very difficult to get a hold of anyone to schedule. Their techs are good if they ever come, but I've been trying to get a humidifier installed for the past few months and it's like they don't want my business - and they won't anymore. read more

Like I said, horrible service. Very unprofessional. Owner is greedy and desperate that he charged an $89 service to come out and look at the boiler still under warranty. Not to mention I have had multiple failures since they repiped my 1st floor boiler. So in the end it was not worth it. I had another company come out today and look at the boiler and was told the pipes used by Obie were incorrect and too large. The company is willing to repipe my 1st and 2nd floor boilers for a much lower fee. This company is also reputable, professional and offer great customer service. It's not worth my time writing reviews on Obie Solutions. As today, I am terminating my Yelp account. read more
