They make it look like a really fancy salon,but again never judge a book by its cover. One of the worst hair salons I have some across.But,I must mention the commendable confidence they have when they do a disaster of a hair cut. I've been coming to their salon since they are open. I'm a guy I have short hair and my hair is very easy to cut, but my last hair cut was soooo BAD by this female stylist that is next to John. I ask and they said that's John cousin. She's new and doesn't speak any english at all. I was very disappointed. Guys! you better run if you're in her chair or you'll be regret. I am hesitant to write this review, but I'm hoping that somebody reads it and does not go to CJ Hair Studio because of it. I am a college girl (freshman- and my hairdresser knew this) and I went here for the first time. I'm low maintenance with my hair and just wanted a simple cut, which I got. I am pleased with my haircut, but very upset over the conduct of my hairdresser. He was a nice man, but got too comfortable with me. He asked me very invasive questions, one of which being along the lines of "How wild are your sorority parties?". He also placed his hands in uncomfortable areas. He had me stand up during my haircut at multiple points and grabbed my waist to have me turn in different directions. Could HE not have moved around ME, instead of touching me to make me move? Also, could he not have either instructed me how to move OR just moved me by my shoulders? I am a nice person and I unfortunately was not going to say a word to stand up for myself, which I now regret. At one point, he asked what day to day activities I do that may have damaged the end of my hair. I said that I workout sometimes and the bun that I throw my hair into could damage it possibly. He said "Yeah, you look like you work out". While I was standing up, he did touch me on the butt. I'm trying to figure out if it was an accident. I froze, and then I quickly sat down and he understood that I just wanted to have my haircut over with, so that I could leave and get back in my moms car. I know friends that go here and love the hair studio. It is cheap and everyone is friendly. But my experience left me very uncomfortable, and frankly, I am very upset. Maybe just ask for a woman to do your hair, if you are a female trying to go here. read more

John was my to go to hairstylist before I moved out to LA. I always try to come to him when I'm in town and need a cut. He's also great with eyebrows! The whole staff is always great. If I can't catch John, I usually go with Calvin and he's just as amazing! Highly recommend for all your hair styling needs! read more

I went to this place a few years back and had a good experience. I decided to return again for a haircut. I got to the salon on a Sunday a few minutes before they opened and so I expected to wait for a little bit. The guy who was at the front desk informed me that it would be 10-15 minutes before a stylist could cut my hair (I didn't make a reservation) and that was completely fine with me. He then said he would wash my hair. The hair washing was a bit rough, but I brushed it off because my hair did feel clean. I sat down at a chair and then he began cutting my hair. I was a bit confused because I thought I was waiting for someone else for a few more minutes to cut my hair, but then he started on it. Once the cut was complete, I didn't recall him showing me the back of my head with a mirror or anything and then another lady came to curl my hair. All in all, once I was done, my hair looked okay. About 3 days later I washed my hair and completely straightened it out. That's when I noticed that not only was my hair cut in an extremely choppy (and not the good choppy) manner, but it was noticeably uneven. I ended up scheduling an appointment for a different stylist I went to a while back (not anyone at this studio) and I returned that following Sunday a week later to this studio (my schedule is quite busy so I couldn't return right away), and simply asked for a refund for just the cut. I didn't even ask for the wash or curling to be refunded. Simply the cut. The person who cut my hair said he would fix it, but as I explained to him that this cut was awful and ended up scheduling an appointment with someone else, his justification was that because I curl my hair and he didn't know that I would straighten it, he cut it in this awful manner. Whether I curl, straighten or do whatever to my hair, that does not justify that it should have been cut like this! I didn't trust him to fix it because if he messed it up again, my hair would have to be cut very short (which I was not wanting) and in the end said that he wouldn't refund me. Awful service for a salon I thought was nice, based on my experience a while back. I will not be doing business with this place again. Be aware! read more

I've gone to CJ Hair Studio for two years and I love it! When I first moved to the area, I asked a neighbor with gorgeous hair which salon she went to - she referred me to John, and I've been a loyal client since then! He does a great job on my highlights (lowlights too, when needed). He is very accommodating when it comes to making appointments, very reasonably priced, and very personable. His assistant will also give you a head massage you will long for between appointments!!! read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Let me start by saying, at one time this was a good salon. That day has long past. They do not run on time because they overbook appointments. Since they are overbooked, you end up seeing a different stylist than you made your appointment with and they pawn you off on the next available stylist. We have used this place for the last 4 years for prom hair and will never return. Last year, our appointment was with the owner, and he pawned us off on someone else, but she still did a good job ... wish we could say the same for this year. The person we saw had no idea how to do an updo. We specifically made the appointment for this style and the salon knew it. It looked nothing like the picture my daughter showed her of what she wanted. She was super slow to do the style. I was brushed off when I went to tell the girl at the front that there was an issue. In the end, the updo was falling out with every step my daughter took. Turns out the lady only used 5 bobby pins to hold it all up. To make matters worse, she cut my daughter's hair to give her a side tendril. She cut it so short, it had to be pinned back and now she has a random bang that hits above her ear, so she can't even tuck in behind her ear. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Don't waste your time or money! read more

I will NEVER come here again. I came in for a routine bang trim, and told the lady (whose name I was never given) that I wanted them trimmed to my eyebrows, with longer face framing pieces. Simple, right? She completely messed it up. After she took less than 2 minutes rushing through the trim, they are halfway down my forehead, a good 2 inches above my eyebrows. They are choppy and longer in the center, shorter on the sides. It will take me months to grow them back out, and until then, I'm stuck clipping them back. Never in my life have I seen bangs that look worse than the ones they gave me. It blows my mind that a 'trained' professional could mess up something as simple as a bang trim, which I've had done elsewhere with no issues. I'm disgusted that I had to pay for a haircut as terrible as this one. If they couldn't handle a bang trim, there's absolutely no way I'd trust them to cut the rest of my hair as well. Save your money and time and go somewhere where the stylists listen to what you want, and spend more than a minute making sure you get it. Worst hair salon I will ever go to, no doubt. read more
