My wife and I had a great time here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has a sports bar vibe with lots of locals (friendly and hilarious), which made us feel immediately welcome.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was delicious. I had the Cedar Plank Salmon, which was moist and well complimented by the red pepper coulis. My wife ordered the Cilantro Lime Roasted Grouper. The lime from the compound butter was fantastic, though if I were to criticize there was too much jasmine rice. The carrots were also amazing. We started with the excellent clam chowder. It's a little thinner than a traditional New England chowder, but much more flavorful. We saved room for dessert and loved the key lime pie. We had our eyes on the pumpkin bread pudding, but they had unfortunately run out (maybe next time!). A huge shoutout to our bartender, Jesica. She whipped up an Old Fashioned based specifically on my flavor profile requests, and it was spot on. She made excellent recommendations throughout our meal, as well. I have never been this furious leaving a restaurant. Let me start by saying: DO NOT GO HERE. This place is a complete disaster -- unprofessional, rude, and absolutely clueless when it comes to customer service. Our server, Ashley, somehow managed to LOSE my debit card during our meal. Not misplace -- lose. After some frantic searching and empty apologies, the staff told me they would comp my meal to make up for the massive inconvenience. I was frustrated, but appreciated the gesture. And then -- plot twist -- their incredibly rude manager (with the worst attitude I've ever encountered) swoops in and says I still had to pay the bill, after I had already cancelled my card. No explanation, no concern, just a smug, dismissive, "too bad" energy that made it very clear they couldn't care less about what happened. To make things even worse, the staff, including Ashley, were laughing. Literally laughing behind the counter like this whole thing was a joke -- while I sat there, card lost, furious, trying to figure out how to pay for a meal I never should've been charged for in the first place. This place is a joke. No accountability, no professionalism, and no respect for their customers. If you want to spend your money somewhere that actually values people -- go anywhere else. This restaurant does not deserve your business. Not to mention, the food was VERY mediocre and I wouldn't order the crab cake sandwich again. My brother and I go out for dinner every Wednesday,this week we decided on seafood,and never having been to C J Fintz,decided to give it a try..We started with Guinness beer,each..And then we ordered a dozen fresh oysters on the half shell,delicious,and fresh..and then we ordered the entrée..we both decided on the crab cake dinner.. The presentation was good with broccoli and mashed potatoes, but when I broke open one of the crab cakes I discovered it was mostly filler(some kind of meal material)and very little crab meat my conclusion to this is they need a better recipe, one that also includes more crab meat,and less filler..Hushpuppies were delicious,broccoli was almost unedible because it was served as a single stock,about 6 inches long that was pretty much uncooked and hard as a rock..Service was good,(by the way, I asked our waitress how the crabcakes were and she said they were great, which leads me to believe, she has never tried them, or she likes round balls of mush)... [[HIGHLIGHT]]ambience was that of a neighborhood bar, and not much else.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will probably scratch C J Finz off our Wednesday evening dinner list. Visiting from Florida, I went to this restaurant for lunch with my son and daughter-in-law. Unfortunately, the entire experience was very disappointing. My daughter ordered the crab cakes -- they were flavorless and bland. I had the fried oyster sandwich, which barely had any oysters and was mostly just bread. My son's fish and chips came with a very small portion of fish that was over-fried and tasted like it was cooked in old oil. To make matters worse, the service was poor. We waited 45 minutes for our food, and no one checked on us during that time. Overall, this was a very underwhelming meal and we won't be returning. read more

There for lunch we had steak salad which my friend said was quite good. The calamari was so dry it seemed it was full of air. I made the mistake of ordering the beer batter fish and it arrived cremated...so over cooked in what I assumed was a microwave oven, rock like crust and when I tried to break it fell apart like dust. Wish I had a picture because no one would believe they would try to serve this total disgusting mess. I told the waiter to take it back and I did not want to replace it because I'm afraid of the consequences in the kitchen dealing with cooks.. They took it off the bill and I sat with nothing to eat while my friend finished his salad. Never again will I return to this pitiful excuse for an eatery. read more

Went for early dinner, we've dined at Finz couple times before and had good meals until this most recent visit. I was so disappointed with my crab cake dinner as it was 95% breading with literally tiny threads of crab. We actually brought the crab cakes home to examine further and not only was it cooked bad, it had next to no crabmeat for almost $30 price! Looked like a frozen cheap supermarket brand that was heated up...horrible. You can buy a big can of crabmeat for $15 and they charged $30 for breading . This will be our last visit. After we ordered drinks and PAID our tab, Jessica had the audacity to SNATCH three FULL drinks right out of our hands--only FIVE MINUTES before closing. Who does that?! This wasn't just bad service; it was completely hostile and felt 100% intentional. This place is a SCAM and a complete waste of time and money. We ordered from here for delivery, being in the mood for something we had never had before, I knew it would be hit or miss, and to be honest most time its a miss when trying somewhere new. I got the shrimp tacos and even before diving into them I could tell care went into them specifically for delivery as instead of like most places where they are already put together and a soggy mess, each of the ingredients came in its own container for me to put together on the spot. Not only was it the perfect portion for the price, but the shrimp tacos were so good, from the spices on the shrimp to the amazing sauce it was just a wonderful surprise of a new place to order from. Everything about this spot was perfectly average. The food was fine but didn't blow me away. To start, I ordered the she-crab-soup. This dish is one of my favorites when available at a restaurant. This version was adequate. It was more on the pasty side of things than what I am usually used to. I also ordered the hush puppies. These were yummy but a little too small in stature. For my main course, I ordered the Baja flatbread. It looked very good but didn't have much flavor to it. The pineapple/mangos also felt very artificial. In all, the meal was alright. Heard about this through the vines and had to try it out on our way back home from Luray since otherwise, it's wayyyy out of the way. Being seafood fiends, we had to quench our thirst for some raw bar items and settled on getting a dozen oysters on the half shell and some clams (we had already squared away two breakfasts by noon and we arrived here at 12:15pm lol). As soon as we walk in, we're told to seat ourselves. We grabbed a high top and settled in. Our waitress was very courteous and pleasant. She took our order. We got our Bloody Mary while waiting on the oysters- the drinks were fine. Just regular Bloody Mary's with a slight kick to it from the Old Bay spice. The oysters were quite fresh and meaty. Good sized at a nice price point. The clams were fresh and the creamy broth it came in was a heavenly match for dipping the accompanying crostinis. It's not a large venue, so plan accordingly since they probably get heavy crowds throughout the week, given their (almost) daily specials. read more

Last night my wife and I, in our never-ending quest to find new and interesting restaurants in the Fredericksburg area, decided to drive to Manassas to try a seafood place called CJ Finz Raw Bar and Grille. When we got there, we found that it didn't seem to have parking, but we were able to find on-street parking. We walked in and saw that it had a fairly small dining room. There was a full bar along the left side of the restaurant, three or four large tables that could seat a party of eight, and tables for two and four elsewhere. We had a 15 minute wait, since on a Saturday evening this place was full. We sat down and were immediately visited by our very pleasant server. I ordered an Ono Oatmeal Stout, and my wife had a Devils Backbone Vienna Lager. We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell. They were fairly good sized, and served with cocktail sauce and horseradish (the real stuff, not sauce). When it came time to order entrees, our server had several suggestions. One of them was the Thai Green Curry Scallops. Since I came there for scallops. I took that suggestion. My wife had a Lobster Roll and a cup of She Crab soup. My wife reported that the lobster was plentiful in the roll, and cooked properly, not overdone. The She Crab soup, which is one of my wife's favorites, was excellent. My scallops were phenomenally good. There were four jumbo sized scallops, with jasmine rice and a wonderful curry sauce. The scallops themselves were not just Broiled, they were done in Thai spices and were delicious. The spices were not too hot. A generous helping of rice and curry sauce made this one of the best scallop dishes I've had. We don't normally order desert, but my wife saw Key Lime pie, so she ordered that. I took another of our server's suggestions and ordered the Granny Apple Crisp, which is a very tasty Granny Smith Apple pie/cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. It was very good and very decadent. My wife reported that the key lime pie was also first rate. This is a smallish place that does a good business, so it's probably not the place to go for a quiet intimate dinner. However if you want excellent seafood, top rate oysters, and excellent service, this is the place to go. read more

CJ Finz is always packed, and for good reason. Definitely give it a try if you're nearby and want some seafood. They have a wide variety of menu items and cool decor. My favorite item is the lobster grilled cheese. It's hot, melty, full of flavor, and filled with big chunks of lobster! I didn't care for the crab cake sandwich. It was dry and crumbly. Speaking on the peel & eat shrimp, the oysters & cocktails. Peel and eat shrimp were phenomenal, so much so I had to order another round. Perfectly cooked and I like mine served with butter, old bay & lemons. I 100% recommend if you enjoy shrimp. Oysters, my god idk who was shucking oysters on Tuesday but it looked like a kid shucked them no joke. They came to us dirty dirty dirty... we only ate the clean ones which were about 4 out of a dozen. They were all still attached as well so maybe it was someone in training. But lesson learned, we loved the shrimp so much we would come back for those but we will not order oysters again so just a fair warning. I also tried the house made watermelon mint vodka with a splash of soda water, it was delicious. I also had the sangria & it was incredibly refreshing. The service was great & very attentive. My husband and I had lunch at CJ Finz on Veteran's Day and the place was quite busy. We ordered the crab dip, which came with house made chips. The dip was very cheesy and full of crab and the chips were nice and crispy. My husband ordered the fish and chips and he really enjoyed the fish. The fries were just ok. I ordered the shrimp po boy and subbed a Caesar salad instead of fries. The sandwich was massive and it was a delicious and large Caesar salad. I couldn't even finish half of the po boy. I really enjoyed all of the food. Our server was busy but she was excellent and provided us with great service. read more

The fried calamari was fantastic! So was the service. But I got to say the crab cake sandwich was not good. It was mostly filler with literally only bits of crab meat. When I told others about my experience, they were surprised since they had the opposite experience. So I can only imagine that on a Friday afternoon, the cook was out of crab or was saving it for the weekend crowd. I just want management to be aware and hopefully monitor quality control. read more

What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said?! This is a great spot! I've come here multiple times and each time has been a good experience. Food: I've had the lobster roll and fries and most recently had the chance to indulge in the crab cake sandwich. Lawd Jesus. I dont even know if I can locate words to even describe how good it is! The crab cake sandwich comes with this sauce and it just took my tastebuds to the moon! I even request the sauce for my fries. As far as the apps the have a good variety of things to choose from. I ordered the crab dip and it comes with pita chips which were so freaking soft and easy to use for scooping. Every person that I have introduced this place has enjoyed the food and has gone back on their own! Service: I'm big on my reviews for service and this place has always provided great service! It doesn't matter what server we have had, they always are laid back and are pretty efficient in serving and keeping our drinks filled and cleaning up the tables. Whew chi! I never bank on Manassas giving me superior food AND customer service, but they surely did both. My group of about 8 came on a Friday and apparently Manassas is poppin on the 1st Friday of every month. There was a small band outside playing music and apparently Manassas even allows you to take your drinks outside in plastic cups and walk around. Surprising for VA right?! Well anywho, my water glass stayed filled, I never had to seek out a waitress. Our food came in a timely manner and was delivered with every detail correct even w/ the # of ppl we had. Now let's get down to it: Calamari: 4 out of 5, only because it could've been slightly crisper but the portion was on point and the flavor was still good. Lobster roll: lemon aioli perfectly dresses the lobster, not too much or little sauce. Too much sauce covers up the flavor and hides if the lobster was over cooked. Too little sauce and it's just meat on toast. The bread was perfectly buttered and soft. Caesar salad: perfectly dressed with excellent flavor. Usually I have to add pepper, but not at CJ's. Apple crisp: AMAZING! I just added a little sprinkle of salt to balance the sweetness and I tore it up! Lol. The peach ice cream w/ sugar cookie: phenomenal!
