Amazing tapas spot in Barcelona right off las ramblas. Great Quality and reasonable pricing. We got a bunch of different things to try. We loved the steak and also the dates! Highly recommend while in town.
Came recommended by our hotel - we went early cause this place gets packed....no reservations - but the line moved pretty quickly. We chose several options off the tapas menu....loved the steak with Fois! Service was great, cute ambiance, was a solid choice so glad we went. It's a fun area it's in also.
I went here the day I arrived and my last night in Barcelona. Amaya was our server, both times we were a group of 6. If you have an open pallet to tapas and would like to experience this place, let the waiter select for your group. The first night he did fabulous, the second time we thought we knew how n what to order-we ended up with too much food. The sangria and local beer is fabulous. Also-their menu changes each day and night-the experience will be different for each person.
whatever you're doing in Barcelona, make a stop at this delicious tapas bar. They don't take reservations but the wait moves quickly as you'll see the servers moving fast! Every tapa we ordered was soooo goood that we started and ended our trip here we had the classic patatas bravas, jamón ibérico, croquettes, bacalao, & huevos cabreados - everything delicious. for dessert, we tried torrija quemada, churros con chocolate, crema catalana, and roscón borrachín. The vibe reminds me of a busy New York diner, which I love, so if you're looking for something more quiet and calm then this might not be the spot for you.
The service here is excellent! Our large group of 10 was handled with extra care, and without a reservation! I asked about something that was not on their menu, and they had the chef make it for us anyway--sliced tomatoes with olive oil and pulpos with garlic and olive oil instead of the tomato base sauce it normally comes with. Literally everything we ordered was fantastic. If you think I'm being biased because we were treated very well and our party had a wonderful time, then go ahead and call it bias. But the fact that we walked away happy, satisfied, and will have long-lasting memories at this place, then they succeeded! Restaurants are not strictly about the food. It's the entire experience. My family and friends will recommend this place to anyone going to Barcelona.
During our three days in Barcelona, Cervecería Ciudad Condal was the very first tapas restaurant we visited -- and it turned out to be the absolute best! Our server, Amaya, was funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He took great care of us, and every single recommendation he made was delicious. I wish I knew all the Spanish names of the dishes because everything was amazing. The highlights for us were the Bacalao -- so tender and full of flavor -- and honestly the best octopus I've ever had in my life. We also loved the soft steak with duck liver served on a slice of French baguette, the shrimp skewers, patatas, and the Spanish ham with tomato toasts. Every dish was unforgettable. On top of the incredible food, the restaurant itself has such an elegant atmosphere with beautiful décor that made the whole dining experience even more special. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Barcelona!
Amazing food. One of the most delicious restaurants my family ate at while in Barcelona. It was very convenient in terms of proximity to our hotel. All the wait staff we encountered spoke English, which made ordering easier. They have both Spanish and English menus. This restaurant was packed with tourists but we still managed to get seating right away. Very good tapas. The food was the highlight of the evening but the service was excellent as well. Comparable prices to restaurants with similar ambiance in the U.S.
Came here on the strong recommendation of a friend. Usually people recommend places and I am not impressed. This place really impressed me. I hope it wasn't because we had walked about 25k steps by the time we got there but because the place was so darn good! We got there around 630pm on a Monday evening got seated right away. When we left an hour later there was a line to get in. Amaya was our waiter and he was wonderful. We knew we wanted to try the following dishes: Razorback clams 5/5: I've only seen these in NY and had them stir fried. These were steamed and perfectly tender. Of the 3 pieces I ate, one had that funny tang at the end but the other two were great. Squeezed a little lemon on top and it was perfection! Creamy Asparagus and mushroom 3/5: Dunno why everyone says to order this. It was okay but nothing special to it. A good hit of garlic I suppose but nothing to write home about. Spanish omelette 5/5: It really tasted like a melt in your mouth scalloped au gratin. But the combination of tender potatoes, cream and light egg just melts in your mouth. Loved the little buttered tomatoe bread too to balance the "omelette". Amaya, our awesome waiter wanted to surprise us with his recommendations. They were: Suckling pig 4/5: I had wanted to try this and the first bite was disappointing too salty but when I added some of the orange sauce it balanced it out perfectly. Very tender but I wouldn't order it again. Prawn skewer 5/5: Wow. That's all there is to say. The prawn and calamari rings were so tender and the prawns were fresh and juicy. Cooked to perfection. Cod with "olivado" 5/5: This was the best dish by far. The fish was flakey tender and the cheese? with hint of tomatoes was all balanced to well. I thought the hubs was going to lick his plate! For dessert he ordered us the "torrija" which tasted like a combination of donut, cream, and creme brûlée. 5/5! The combination of flavors and textures in your mouth was sooooo good! We also had a half pitcher of sangria and some sparkling water. The ambiance is upbeat and even though it was crowded, it wasn't noisy. It's a very pretty space and fairly large. I would say this was one of my best meals ever. You need to come to this place!
Got this reco from a fellow Yelper. This was my favorite dining experience in Barcelona. Arrived at noon on a weekday with a party of 6 without reservations. The restaurant is quite large, so they were able to seat us since the locals seem to eat at 1 PM. Servers were very friendly and spoke quite a bit of English. They gave us a Catalan/Spanish Menu as well as an English menu. The servers mentioned that tables are available for 1.5 hours and then they ask you to leave. We had no problems with the timing as the food comes out quickly after ordering. The food - recommended without reservations Burnt Saint Teresa "torrija" - easily my favorite dessert on the trip, maybe the best overall dish. If a popover, cream puff, and a crème brûlée got together and had a baby, this dessert would be the result. Eggy-bready on the outside, cream filling, and a caramelized sugar crust on top. I saw some people post a picture of this dessert and label it "bread pudding". That's like posting a picture of the Sistine Chapel and calling it "paint on stone". "Cabreaos" style eggs - "angry" eggs - a bowl of shoestring fries + chile sauce + 2 sunny side up eggs - this is all cut up and mixed table-side. Eat it quick while it's still crispy. Grilled Razor Clams and Grilled Galician Clams - very fresh seafood, simply prepared. Cooked to perfection. Creamy mushrooms assortment - if you like mushrooms, you like this dish. Comes with an egg yolk that gets mixed in. Codfish with honey "aioli" - the fish has a bit of chew to it - maybe slightly underdone. Honey adds quite a bit of sweetness. Never had this pairing before and definitely worth trying. Recommended Chocolate with churros - 5 thin pieces of churro. The chocolate is one of the better ones we had on the trip - more chocolate flavor and very smooth (not a broken emulsion) Fried Mix - squid, cuttlefish, small fishes, padron pepper - the peppers look like shishitos, but they don't have any heat. Everything was cooked well, but I liked the small fish the best. These were ok - Lobster Rice - their version of paella? There were visible lobster shells on top. I prefer a more traditional paella. Green Salad with raw vegetables - served with bottles of vinegar and olive oil for
Visiting from out of country. This is a tapas restaurant. The food was good, we were seated outside after a 10 minute wait. There were quite a few people. The beef tenderloin was too raw for our liking and we asked to have it medium and they were nice about it. We tried lots of stuff and would recommend it. Just be prepared for the wait and ask for the English menu.
Food was excellent, but the service on the day of going was really non-existent from the time of waiting, to seating, and being served. The hostess had our party stand in the restaurant for a good 20 min after being called in ready only to realize our table wasn't going to be. Our server was new, day one on the job, at a very hectic spot which I empathize with. The selection of tapas and postres was well worth the wait though, and everything tasted great so would be back. I'm sure other experiences and future experiences could be better.
We had a lovely table upstairs and a very knowledgeable and helpful server. The food was excellent, we had tomato bread, sliced fried artichokes, and a spread, Brie, candied walnut and honey baguette. My wife topped it off with a crème brûlée bread pudding she loved with a cappuccino. Lovely place make sure you know the street names and number when looking as it is an unassuming facade. It's worth the wait if you have one.
The food was flavourful. The wait wasn't too long when we arrived at 7pm. We really enjoyed the razor clams and the hot green peppers! The calamari was kind of disappointing as they were soggy. Got a bottle of chardonnay which was great for 10€. read more

Tons of tapas....always busy. This place is a huge tapas bar but mostly the tapas are served to tables even though they have a nice bar just because of how big the place is. It's authentic. You hear and feel the subway every time it passes under. The lighting dims then goes back to full power every minute. The plates are great and the service is incredibly fast although not everyone manning this place is Spanish. You definitely get what you pay for. The prices are reasonable and everything I tasted was very good. Check it out if your in the neighborhood. read more

Really cool restaurant with tapas. Unfortunately, had to wait 45 minutes for a table for three people-- We went around 9:30pm on a Sunday. That being said, the timeliness of the service was great once we were seated. We had a bit of a tough time communicating with the waitress, which was to be expected in Spain (my Spanish is terrible). Our table ended up ordering a pitcher of Sangria, which was pretty good. We ordered a handful of tapas, all of which were tasty. Nothing was exceptional, except for the bread pudding dessert. I'd go back again just for that. read more

Food here was outstanding, probably one of the best tapas I've had so far. The canelones, ham and chicken croquetas, beef tenderloin montaditos were my favorite. The patatas bravas was the only tapa that I found plain but you have to try it at least once while in Spain. Service was a little disappointing. I noticed that Spanish speaking people got served right away while foreigners got a much slower service. This is the reason I did not give them 5 stars. Their service changed the moment they realized Spanish is my first language. Every person should be treated equally regardless of their race, language, etc. Other than that, I would come back for the food. read more

Recently I went on my first trip to Barcelona and on the first night ate dinner at this restaurant in the middle of the night. We were walking on a busy street at around 11pm (knowing that everything is open very late in Barcelona) and looking for a restaurant that looked fun. The Ciudad Condal was bursting with people, a lot of locals seemed to be at the bar which is promising. We read the menu and read some reviews and decided we had to go there - we put our name down and got a table around 12am. This sounds late but it was still vibrant with activity up until closing time at 2am! The staff was very friendly, and the food and wine even better. We ordered a meat and cheese sampler which was fantastic, I've never had meat better than I had in Barcelona. Then we ordered the assorted tapas which included shishuto peppers, crawfish, anchovies, ham croquettes, and oysters. All of it was mouth watering! 10/10 recommend. read more

Probably one of my top Tapas restaurants I've been to. I really enjoyed the cod in honey, tenderloin with foie gras, anchovies in white vinegar and the bread pudding! I don't even like dessert but the bread pudding is a must! read more
We had breakfast here at the bar. So fun! The servers were great and you have a display of little dishes in front of you (which is common in Barcelona). They had this dish with thick fried onions on it ... nothing that I've had before and I wish I took a picture of it. It was so good even when I was stuffed I couldn't stop eating! I would've tried this place for dinner too, but unfortunately we didn't have enough time when we were there. We did walk by it too and the line was ridiculous. read more

The service was not too bad, a bit slow. Staff was friendly, just not really attentive. The food tased mediocre and cheaper quality. The restaurant was not the nicest. Disappointed that some items on the menu were not available because it was not in season. read more

Went for tapas with a friend. Got a 1/2 L of the red sangria which was delicious, but the waiter tried a little too hard to talk us into getting the full liter. Sat outside and got the baby squid, pasta salad, shrimp skewer, chorizo sandwich and 4 cheese pizza. The 4 cheese pizza was literally an inch thick of cheese on a tiny baguette slice. A little too much even for this cheese lover. The shrimp skewer was outstanding, but the rest of the tapas were nothing outstanding. The food was good, but we enjoyed other meals more during our stay in Barcelona. read more

This is one of the best meals I've had in Barcelona, and one of the best of my life. There was about a hour wait so we waited in the bar and got a bar spot much quicker. Definitely try the cod with honey glaze, it's to die for! read more

Food was great. Service however, was not. I've noticed the locals tend to get more and faster service than the obvious tourist. I would recommend the beef tenderloin meal. It was the best tapas I've had so far. read more
The service was good, but the food was a let down overall, although the octopus (off the menu) was very good. It was spiced like chorizo and pretty easy to chew (melted). -Huevos "Cabreaos": Eggs and tomato sauce is good, but the fries it was over made it overly heavy. -Mixto de espárragos y champiñones): Mushrooms sauteed with garlic + asparagus was good. Asparagus was pretty boring, but the mushrooms were nice. -La pulpa: Octopus slices with chorizo spices (very good) -Gambas de Ajillo: Shrimp in olive oil with chiles. This was pretty good, had some spice. -Plato de Jamón Ibérico de Bellota: nothing special. Came with bread soaked with olive oil and tomatoes. The ham was a let down. Tasted like boring salami. -Lomo plancha y pimientos: Pork loin sandwich with peppers read more

I've come here five times for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. I'd highly recommend the beef tenderloin hot tapas and the lobster paella every Tuesday. For breakfast, the Spanish and cheese omelette were delicious as well. Saeed and Jaime were absolutely wonderful. I'd highly recommend these two. Just wonderful. Ate all three times outside so I don't know the ambience inside, but it's great and the heaters are warm but could be warmer! I've tried their coconut pudding, creme brûlée, chocolate cake, and strawberry tart. I'd say that the chocolate cake was undoubtedly my favorite, and I'm not a chocolate cake fan! read more

What an experience! We found this place from Yelp, as it had so many reviews. We got there and had to put our names on the wait list (lasted 25min) as the place was very busy. Once we got inside, everything was simply amazing. From the sangria, to the various tapas, and finally with the dessert, everything was perfect. I highly recommend trying the beef tenderloin, cuttlefish, fries w/ eggs (trust me), shrimp skewer, and creme brule to end the night. We had an excellent meal which included sangria, 1 main, and 5 tapas for all under 70€. I will most definitely return to this restaurant. read more

The line to get into this place should tell you how popular and good the restaurant is! Coming here our first night in Barcelona we were greatly pleased from the red sangria to the simple but delicious patatas bravas. Everything we chose on the menu was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant as well. I would highly recommend coming to this place. read more
This was my first tapas restaurant in Barcelona. I sat right at the bar so I could get a view of the food - which was delicious! I had the prawns skewer, salmon croquettes, yolk has brown dish, anchovies (was okay). The bar staff were very knowledgeable and friendly to speak with. I also how this place it conveniently located in Passeig de Gràcia and serves food till late night! read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Barcelona. Such a cute and classy restaurant. Attentive staff. Get the cod filet with honey aioli (delicious), tomato bread, potato bravas! I saw the reviews and decided to try this place for our first meal in Barcelona. We waited about an hour and half for a table. It's a big restaurant but they are extremely busy. It did seem touristy. It's gorgeous inside, food was good, the service was quick and prices were reasonable. read more
