Pricey, but there's a decent view of DC. There are better views out there, but if you're by the mall to start with, this is a good bet. I got the truffle fries and was disappointed to find that the truffle is only in the dipping sauce (mayo) and not on the fries themselves. Seems like a shortcut. The drinks are good, with generous pours, but again, maybe more than I typically like to pay. I'd come back, but not to settle in for an evening of drinking.

I stumbled upon CityBar while looking for rooftop bar in DC. While this venue was not what I thought from the website, it's still a cute spot in the city for good views and a quick drink. The bar staff was a bit all over the place, and slow the serve even with no one really at the bar. They were engaging in person conversation and took a while to acknowledge us. There was also a wait on my drink because they didn't have pineapple juice but the venue had just open before we arrived. However, my fries came quick and were fresh. The veins from the roof are very nice and unobstructed. This is a good spot for a quick hang with friends or a nice first date if you are looking to have conversations. Definitely not party vibes or large groups.

Good rooftop location with quite open space overlooking the city. Just couple of blocks away from the National mall. Located inside the Hyatt place hotel. Not ideal for great parties. Good place to take a break, enjoy small bites and couple of drinks. The service is good, efficient and friendly.

Updated review: I decided to give CityBar a second chance. Another beautiful day, but there are still serious issues with dirty glasses and food left on tables well after patrons have left. These was more concerns about the credit card receipts left on the table than cleaning up what could be a health code violation. Original: This rooftop bar is a great palace for happy hour, but service is slow and the food will arrive lukewarm. I am not sure if they are understaffed or just feel it's easier to clean-up dirty plates and glasses until after the rush. Drinks are a little higher than most DC bars, but you are getting a view of the Washington Monument. It clears out after the Federal employees had a drink and head home in the Metro.

Roof top bar on top of the Hyatt. It's a nice spot to drink and chill and enjoy the breeze. They have comfy seats. You get a pretty view of the sunset and you can see the Jefferson Memorial and National Monument. Drinks and bites are average price. The fried calamari ($12) was okay. Metered street parking. Free after 6pm.

It has an awkward layout. It feels like I'm sitting at a continental breakfast area; I likely am. (-1 star) Wings: some wings have half the meat on the bone. See picture (-1 star) Burger: tasted like a cafeteria burger. Meat was low quality. Doesn't taste fresh. Small patty. Bun was surprisingly good. (-2 stars) Employees were friendly. (+1 star) I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed with a restaurant's food.

I'm giving this place a solid 5 cause the view is beautiful. It's peaceful in its own way after a long day in the city. My kids loved it and the waiter/bartender/everything deserves more then the 20% that's added to the tab. He had to manage it all and make the drinks. They have misting fans and a wonderful garden with flowers and veggies they use. There's a huge ice water dispenser so you can enjoy the view and not feel like you ha e to buy a drink. I got a free app offer when I check in so that was a great perk and snack for my always hungry and growing kiddos!

If I was a bar, I would be CityBar: beautiful views, full of potential, but a complete and total mess. ...so, while I can relate to CityBar on a spiritual level, I wouldn't come back here. This place is nasty, guys. Like, violating health code nasty. Tell me the last time you went to a bar, and to your left were five stacks, ten cups high of empties. I've worked in the industry. I know that shit ain't right. You can't leave towers of glasses stacked up on your bar like that. Put 'em in the sink. On top of the cluttered bar, all of the tables at this place are covered in food. We were there for two hours - I didn't see someone wipe down a single table the entire time we were there. It's gross! Just gross! Even I wipe my shit up. At CityBar, the prices are made up and your call doesn't matter. First round was a single Grey Goose vodka cranberry and a single tequila lemonade. Rang in at $25. Next round, same order, only this time the bartender pours us doubles and the tab is $22. Pretty sure they've got Tito's or whatever well junk they pour wrapped up in a Grey Goose label, because there is no way that drink had Grey Goose in it - the taste was noticeable. I chased the subpar drinks with some soggy waffle fries that were served to us on our dirty table, without napkins or utensils, accompanied by mustard in packets. Classy. I'm so surprised this place was so bad! Its as beautiful as the photos. They grow their own herbs. They have big fans and a decent amount of seating- all as-advertised. And yet, i feel like I got cat-fished. Just like most men can do better than me, you can do better than CityBar. Don't be fooled. Pick another spot.

The SW area (outside of waterfront) definitely could use more in the way of restaurants and happy hour venues. The rooftop bar of the Hyatt is a welcome addition. I had a meeting in the area and someone suggested giving this spot a try. The only other options nearby are the Holiday inn bar and 21st amendment, which I feel cater more towards an older demographic/government worker. The sun was blazing but the views were great. A band was breaking down their set up but I could see this as a perfect spot for live music. I went on a Thursday evening and there was a good amount of folks, but not overwhelming. Happy hour is from 4:30-8pm, and it's about $2 off cocktails ($12-14 regular price). I got a frosé which was pretty good. The crab cakes were a very decent size and good, not a lot of breading but it was the spicy aioli that really gave it the flavor. The sliders were small and a little dry. If you have a meeting in the SW office area and want to meet with colleagues to grab a quick bite, I would definitely recommend this place. I don't think I would go out of my way to come here if I wasn't already in the area, it's a little pricey and I've seen more impressive cocktail lists in Navy Yard, Eastern Market, etc with more ambiance and a livelier scene.

Great place to get a beer an app after a long day in DC, It's on the roof top of Hyatt Place so the views are sick! Great service, German beer and the fish tacos and crab cakes were on point!

Where this place falls flat for me is the food. We went for brunch so I'm not sure what their lunch and dinner menu looked like but I had their chicken and waffles. Typically, I'm used to having this dish with just chicken on top of a waffle with a side of syrup that you can pour over. This dish was drenched with a sauce that wasn't syrup but still sort of sweet? It wasn't necessarily *bad*, it's just that I wasn't expecting it. I didn't end up finishing it and my friends weren't impressed with some of the other dishes. I will say though...that Harissa Shrimp? Give me 14 of them.

It took 10 minutes for the bartender to hand me a water and ask what I wanted (though he never gave me a menu). After ordering, no one checked on me until my plates were empty and drink was dry. I ordered the beet salad and truffle fries. The food was good but certainly not worth the price. I'm happy to pay good money but seeing the well done lamb chops beside me, I decided to go with a safe Girl Dinner. I won't be back, even if I need a cute spot for pictures with the girls. About 30 minutes after we were seated and had already ordered drinks and food, our waitress came back and told us we had to spend a minimum of $350 for two people to keep the table. That is something that should have been clearly communicated by the host before seating us, not after we were already settled in and spending money. What made it even more frustrating was the inconsistency. I asked the people sitting next to us if they had been told the same thing, and they had not. A few minutes later, I heard staff telling someone else that the minimum was $300 for two people. So not only was the policy disclosed late, it also seemed unclear or unevenly applied. I have no problem with table minimums when they are communicated upfront; I can make my decision based on clear Ts and Cs. What I do have a problem with is surprise spending requirements after guests are seated and have already ordered. That feels less like hospitality and more like a hustle. In the end, I elected to close out and leave. The food was mid at best (not saying that because of my experience) and the drinks were fine. Overall experience was overshadowed by the shiesty staff and management. Had they handled me differently, I would have spent double or triple that. They won't get another red cent from me.

I went to Pearl Street Warehouse twice: this past Thursday and last night. I mainly went there for two holiday parties. The first time on Thursday night, the people at the door was giving us a hard time refusing to let us in even though I was there to meet up with a friend that was going to take me home. I immediately requested to speak to the manager & he reluctantly let me & my friend in. We went straight to the bar to meet our friend. I asked the bartender for a cup of water. I guess me unwittingly overlooking the pre-made water pitchers annoyed him for working harder than he needed & he pointed at the pre-made water pitchers, not saying a word to me. I told him never mind I'll pour from one of the pitchers. He still decided to make a cup of water anyway despite my small protest. I accepted it. I tasted it & was immediately disgusted. It tasted & smelled like tequila. I am certain he didn't pour tequila in it, but the bar's tap pour must be so dirty or unfiltered from prior servicing, it starts to taste like other things BUT water. I even had my friend to taste & smell it to make sure it wasn't just me, and he agreed. I nicely let the bartender know the water tasted funky. Instead of saying I'm sorry I'll fix that or even just suggesting using the pitchers, he decides to try to make the situation more than what it was by trying to debate/argue with me and was actually accusing me of ACCUSING him that he intentionally tried to pour me something I didn't want to get me "drunk". I was dumbfounded at such an insane & random accusation just because I simply said the water smells & tastes like tequila. Nothing in that statement is accusatory towards him, and I told him I was not accusing him of anything. But I guess he was so upset from my minor complaint that he got the bar manager involved to "prove me wrong." The bar manager didn't seem to want to get involved but did anyway. The bartender decided to taste the water to essentially gaslight me & tell me it didn't smell nor taste bad. The bar manager tried it too & agreed with him. They were 100% wrong and unprofessional. I'm unsure what was the point of going out of the way to prove two customers wrong instead of simply letting it go, but I can assure you me & my friends will never return nor recommend this place. Based on other reviews I've read on here, I see that I am not the only one who has had bad encounters from rude staff and management and seems to have been an issue for YEARS. This might have been one of the rudest & nastiest encounters I've ever had at any establishment in my life. Trying to cause a scene with a customer over dirty water is a very bad look. I would highly suggest the staff, especially that specific bartender, to seek professional help & professional development in customer service. Beyond that very rude and insulting encounter, the ambiance was that of a dirty frat bar, area around the bar is very unclean & the floor is soaked in spilled drinks, so if you go there on a busy night (if they have those), be careful. The live performance on Friday was meh, but I think that was a band the folks hosting the holiday party chose. I also saw in other reviews that the talent they tend to pick are mediocre at best. I can see that being true I do believe Pearl Street Warehouse saving grace is its location (the Wharf). If this establishment existed anywhere else in DC, I am doubtful they'd still be in business solely from their rudeness/unprofessionalism. Hopefully, they will improve on custom service.
