I contacted this company for a last-minute request to move my mom's few items from her storage to her assisted living home. Spoke to a gentleman who quickly locked in my reservation one day before and had my mom's stuff moved out the next day. I don't live in the area so I wasn't able to physically be present but they made the process easy when paying for her move by phone. Thank you to the crew who patiently waited for the storage to open as I mistakenly forgot to confirm the storage hours. I appreciate your professionalism and quick assistance. read more

Buyer beware. After your belongings are loaded and in their posessionthey will hit you with additional charges despite doing their on site survey and giving you a "binding quote." I AM CURRENTLY trying to get my moving charges resolved but it is not going well. Please check back, as I will update my review pending the outcome of my dispute.I am a local resident having lived on Oahu for 35years. And I am recently disabled. They now have my electric wheelchair and I am feeling pretty screwed. This is literally the only time I have ever wanted to give zero reviews. I worked with this company at their locations in Kona, HI, Los Angeles, CA and Chicago, IL as part of a cross-country move. The actual moving staff in Hawaii were amazing, but every person I dealt with from the offices from that point forward have been truly predatory. BEWARE though...the company is an absolute scam. I received a quote from Andre on 12/31/21 to move a portion of my home in Hawaii to my new home in Chicago. He asked me to send him a list of items. I did so and made it as comprehensive as possible. He estimated this would take 41 boxes. Having little experience in this I assumed he knew his stuff so I signed. My move was scheduled for January 4th. They arrived, were polite, and packed us up. At the end of the day, I ADDED many items to the original list but the total number of boxes? 19. A full HALF of what was estimated. I paid $3300 and thought that was the end of the day. Fast forward THREE FULL MONTHS they finally let me know my stuff is ready for delivery, but want an additional $650 to match the price of the estimate. Since they had 'reserved space based on 41 boxes.' I tried multiple times to explain that had the estimate been 15-20% of the actual pick up I'd be happy to pay the full amount and call it a rounding error. But to be 2X off doesn't seem fair or honest. At best, that is just woeful incompetence. At worst, that sounds like a sales rep who got paid by what he booked and padding the numbers. They refused to budge after 3-4 attempts and let me know to get my stuff I had to pay. On top of all of that? They charged me an extra $200 for a special car because "the streets of Chicago are just too narrow" (side note - uh, what?), then double charged me both the $650 and $200 day of and took many days to refund. And threatened to have their 'legal team get in contact with me' should I proceed with writing this review. Nice. Stay away. The deal isn't worth it. read more

We moved from CA to HI and upon delivery we're missing expensive and personal belongings. With no response to calls or emails, the stress, frustration and sadness in regards to the many lost items has been astronomical. They've taken no action or responsibility for the poor service and/or missing items. read more

They were great until the move came. Then the extra charges started. They offer 30 days of free storage. Those 30 days start counting when they load your move. If their truck or ship is delayed, and they deliver more than 30 days after loading, you pay for their delay. They also tried to charge me for moving the items to a smaller truck, claiming the county ordinance does not allow a truck that size in their roads. I asked for the specific road so I could confirm the ordinance. You guessed it, they changed their tune. Then the truck would not fit into my driveway, even though we have had other trucks of the same size coming into the driveway. Again that would require an extra fee. They gave us a window of a week for deliver. The entire week we had to be available for the delivery. They did not call with updates or attempts to narrow the window. The delivery occurred when only one of us was available, and many boxes were placed in the wrong rooms or floors. This was an issue because we are older and unable to move boxes on our own. Overall, it was not a good experience. I have moved internationally and locally with moving companies more than 18 times, this must be the worst experience I had. read more

I am brokenhearted. I shipped an heirloom brass bed to my great-niece in Hilo and City Moving lost the custom rails. They delivered a modern day bed frame along with the antique headboard and footboard. The modern bed frame was not mine, was not even a part of my shipment! The bed cannot be used, unless I pay to have new rails made. City Moving takes no responsibility. How can they treat a customer so poorly? They really bungled the job. Laura Avila read more

We booked this company to move us in advance. Day of the move comes. The truck shows up at 9 AM, foreman doesn't show up until after 11. City Movers quotes on their website that they do not change their prices, but they tried to with us...a significant amount! The worst part is that the foreman yelled at me and told me that if I was going to give him a negative review, he would not move us and drove away. City Movers told us they'd do their best to get us a new trucking company today but does not even answer their phone. SCAM! read more

City Movers made moving across the country and almost to Hawaii so easy I would always give them high marks. From the first salesperson to the final delivery everyone was informed and helpful. The job was done to perfection with very fair pricing and no shenanigans. I give 4 instead of 5 stars because of the following: Returning calls was often frustrating because some staff are in different locations and communications get confused; they sell insurance but don't explain that it doesn't cover owner packed boxes; if there is damage you HAVE TO TELL THE DELIVERY DRIVER, at the time of delivery that there is breakage. This is nearly impossible when boxes and furniture are unloaded quickly; the claim process is very burdensome esp when the delivery driver has to see the damage. THIS is RIDICULOUS. Although they sell insurance from a different company, they MUST explain the difficulties so you can decide whether to buy it or try to unpack quickly while the truck is being unpacked. DO NOT BUY INSURANCE UNLESS YOU KNOW EVERYTHING FIRST. Reading the contract is like reading the tax code. Have someone at the insurance company explain the details. City Movers will tell you to "read the contract." read more

You are officially an adult when you will eagerly pay a couple hundred bucks to have professionals schlep your stuff, instead of enlisting your friends' bodies, cars, and precious time to help you do it. Such was the case with my recent move. Three days before my move date, I decided I didn't want to go through another DIY move, but as I called around to all the 5-star bizes on Yelp there were booked solid. Finally, I got lucky with City Movers who quoted me $108/hr for a team of two guys, with a two-hour minimum. After asking around to some friends, this is apparently a very good price. And when it was all said and done, it was the best $250 I ever could have spent. My old home was transferred to my new home in less than 2.5 hours. Truly amazing. The two-man crew handled everything well, though they weren't the most pleasant fellows, seeming annoyed when I'd ask them to move something to a different spot and whatnot. But then again, I wouldn't be the most chipper person if I spent all day sweating my brains out like this either. They charge a 3% fee for credit card payments, so be prepared with cash. Also note that if they quote you a time window, say 1-4pm, that's not the actual move time, but the time the crew will potentially arrive. I thought they were showing up at 1pm, but in fact they showed up at 3:30 (still within the "time window", but not what I'd planned my day around). They got the job done, and that's all that matters when it comes to movin', I'd say. read more

Moving sucks. So does managing lazy movers who dilly dally on the clock and bang your grandmother's precious hand crafted chair against the wall. City Movers LLC is like a whole different breed of movers. They're honest, efficient, and organized. As a result, the moving is attainable, affordable, and less stressful. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. We had the pleasure of working with Ian. He managed the team of two movers and he took time off the clock when there was a hold up or a lunch break. He was up front about cost and logistics, and he stayed positive and focused over the course of 8 hours. His team followed suit. Try City Movers LLC. They rock pretty hard core. read more

DO NOT USE! They charged my parents an extra $4000 dollars to move from Southern CA to NEVADA (total of $7000). My mother tried to get her money back a week prior to the move and was told no because she hadn't done it twenty-four hours after making the reservation. TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE assured my parents that once the items were picked up, it would be delivered (once again, to NEVADA a three-hour drive) the following day. One person even explained that everything would be driven to San Juan Capistrano that evening and then driven to Nevada the following day. Then all of a sudden! On "delivery day" my mother is informed that her items will not be delivered for at least A WEEK and can take up to A MONTH. Why? Because SHE DID NOT PAY EXTRA FOR EXPEDITED DELIVERY! Now all my parents have is one little overnight back a piece for up to month and will have to get a hotel in Nevada until their beds get delivered. Oh. And they have to pay rent and utilities on an apartment they cannot live in. These movers are scammers, and I will be reporting them to the better business bureau and anyone else I can as soon as this is posted. read more

I was so, so happy I used City Movers when I was put in charge of orchestrating a small office move - bringing some left behind items from the old location to the new location, including a large conference table, a myriad of chairs and boxes, and some precious framed drawings and delicate architectural models. I contacted about 6 moving companies and from the start, Casey provided the best customer service. He called me back almost immediately with a quote, which was well below their competitors' rates. He didn't try to talk me into hiring more than two men for the job (which other companies did) and he was clear and honest about the time constraints -- their minimum time is 2 hours, I was convinced it would take less time, he thought it would be cutting it close, but ultimately left it up to me to decide instead of strong-arming me into another hour. As details developed about the move -- time constraints by our buildings' management, tricky parking permit issues -- Casey was available by phone every day, picking up immediately or calling back within a few hours. For extra brownie points, he even agreed to do the legwork to get us the parking permits and just folded their cost into our final bill. Thaddeus did a walk through with me a few days before the move and orchestrated the whole thing calmly and swiftly on the day-of. Cool as a cucumber and super professional, there were no hitches on moving day. I was impressed. Even when our payment situation got a little funky, Casey was patient and kind. I can't say enough good things about Casey or his company. Thanks City Movers!!! read more

Wow! Impressive! After several failed attempts with another moving company, these guys were totally awesome. Scheduling was quick and easy. I was offered a moving time/date only a few short days after I called. Reasons why you should use City Movers: 1) Super professional: they sent an email confirmation explaining everything, showed up right on time and were very courteous (when I asked what I should do, they said to sit back, relax and they'd take care of everything). 2) The services include packing. I packed 90% of the stuff myself, but I have some pretty nice kitchen ware/glass ware which I wanted to make sure was safe during the move. They packed it QUICKLY (awesome!) and securely. 3) Friendly and go the extra mile! The guys were very cool and they even gave me tips on how to repair my broken dresser! 4) The quote is what you pay. I've heard horror stories about other moving companies, but these guys only charge what is expected. Overall, this is a very professional, efficient service and the guys aren't messing around trying to stretch out the move in order to make more cash. They get it done! Moving is always a pain, but these guys made it so much easier!!!! Thanks, City Movers! :) read more

I have used City Movers 2 times now because they are trustworthy, professional, quick, attentive, and frankly have helped make the already horrible moving experience manageable and smooth. Communications are easy via phone or email and they are very responsive. Our schedules shifted a few times and they quickly accommodated us. Both times they have gone above and beyond for me. The first move was a major move, merging two homes into one including packing, and it went very smooth. It was a very very long day as you can imagine but they did not charge me for the excess time from the estimate and put belongings, including books, into place as instructed with no issues and no need for repetition about what goes where. My HOA has strict rules and needed some documents signed and they were able to get this paperwork over to me quickly and promptly. The second move was a minor move, just in home only moving heavy things around the house and down to storage. Again, the movers were friendly, attentive, and quick. Moving is already super stressful so It's nice to work with movers who are careful with your belongings and help make the process as smooth as can be. I'll be using them again, but hopefully not too soon because I really don't like moving! ;) read more

Clean cut, professional and worth every penny not to mention they saved me 650.00 from other bids. My highest recommendations! read more

I have used City Movers TWICE now. I can write on here honestly just how great, professional and REPUTABLE this company is. I first utilized their services when I moved from Long Beach, C.A. to Studio City, C.A. (Los Angeles) Anthony and Drew, moved my home then. I had some expensive beautiful furniture that I had worked many many years to obtain. They were professional, efficient, attentive to my needs and overall HONEST. I was not overcharged for the move and none of my beautiful home furnishings/furniture was damaged or scratched. I remember Anthony (Tony) even wiping clean my media console before placing the padding on top of it. I was actually embarrassed that I had not noticed the dust and he was kind enough to wipe it clean. Now, one year to the month later, I phoned City Movers in Long Beach for my next move. Only this time I was moving from Los Angeles to San Francisco. I was happy to hear that they did long distance moves within California and gladly signed up with them. Having a bad experience from a previous moving company from San Diego to Long Beach, I was hoping and praying that I would have the same experience again with them. Not only did I have the same wonderful service but Anthony (Tony) the same guy that had moved me the year before did the move! They were the exact same reputable professional movers as I had experienced in the past. Even better because I had the consistency of seeing the same man, Anthony. Which made me feel safe and worry free. None of my furniture/furnishings was scratched or broken in this long distance move. Incredible! Thanks Tony!! They handled my furniture as if it were their own. The employees of this company take pride in their work and it shows. This is not a means to an end for these employees. This is their occupation and their career. Which makes them stand out from the rest! Thank you, Anthony (Tony), Andrew, and Ian!!! I will definitely be calling you when I move next time. If you are a professional like myself, looking for a professional moving company City Movers LLC is for you. You will not be disappointed or be overcharged. Very honest, reliable and professional. I won't give even 1 star , their process is very pain, When initially spoke to the agent , he said he would take care of everything with 1600 , haven't told any boxes or they din't explain each boxes charge could vary, but when actual shipping vendor they came and they put everything different charges then we end up to pay 2400. Then we arrived again they just said that vehicle should get inside and didn't give any specific measurement about the truck. Because at the time even they woudn't know which truck would be available to ship this. When the truck arrives here total mess ,, the truck driver said he won't get inside due to length constraints. He asked extra 315 $ to change to smaller truck. Totally a painful experience then I thought I would have gone for another standard options. City is full of pain, I can't believe all the above reviews and dont get cheated. read more

I wanted to write this a loooong time ago. Last year my boyfriend and I moved in together. City Movers was kind enough to move my apartment plus my boyfriend's apartment in the same trip. My boyfriend has a terrible back, so they even spent a few hours at his place helping him to box up his stuff. Due to the unexpected amount of belongings between the two of us, City Movers had to spend an additional amount of time moving us in. They kept cool, even though it had been a 12 hour day of physical labor and they had moved an entire house the day before. These guys were friendly and professional and went out of there way to help us when I know they were exhausted. We recently used them again to move a few things around our apartment. I paid a deposit as we were planning to ship our vehicle from Maui to California and were told that we could just drop our vehicle any day from Monday to Friday when we were ready. Not two weeks later our plans changed and we no longer are moving. Called for our deposit back in December before Christmas and was told by ILINA we would receive it within 7 to 10 business days. 13 Days later, nothing. Called multiple times left her vmails and emails, nothing. Finally spoke to George in sales. He said he put in a request for it and should be refunded to me in 7 to 10 business days. It is now February 13th and still have not received my deposit back. My advice to you, use a different company if you can. read more

We used CityMovers for our move last Friday. We are a startup, so we are rather disorganized. And we were moving from one location to two. And the new office doesn't have an elevator :-). And we called last minute - these guys were the only ones who could meet our timeframe. These guys were great and stuck with us until the end...the end being 7pm on a Friday night. They were also a great deal and worked with us being on a limited budget. I'm really careful about giving out 5-star reviews, but these guys earned it because of how easy they were to work with....I can't think of a single complaint. I would definitely recommend to a friend, and if I move to a new apt, I'll certainly be calling them. read more

I really need to stop moving. Seriously, since going on hiatus and coming back to the city, my semi-permanence in any one apartment is starting to wear on me. That said, I found a great new pad and really didn't want to move myself this time. I made a last minute decision to hire movers and landed on these guys. They fit me into their schedule despite my lack of planning and gave me an up front estimate and let me know when the guys would be showing up. The crew, Conrad and Arif, showed up exactly on time, swooped into my box-filled apartment and started packing my stuff in the truck like they had memorized the contents of my apartment. Most of my stuff was packed, but the loose ends that weren't they took care of with an efficiency and effectiveness I've never seen. They wrapped everything up carefully and didn't damage a thing. The whole process took pretty much the amount of time they told me with 10 or 15 minutes to spare. I've recommended City Movers to a couple friends who were moving at the same time I was and they had the exact same experience. Nice, honest fellas, the whole lot of 'em. Makes moving not such a daunting task, but let's hope I don't have to do it again for awhile. read more

Okay...I've never used these guys before to do a move for me, and I usually go to my tried-and-true guys, but WHAT AN OUTSTANDING JOB Robert and Ian did today (Sunday, May 30, 2010). Boo Yah! The nicest guys! So accommodating! The best part was the incredibly difficult move of my Crate-and-Barrel Axis sleeper sofa---it was horrible when I moved it into my OLD apartment. I even ripped the plaster on the hallway ceiling trying to get it in; plus, I had to have the across-the-hall neighbor open their door so I could negotiate the turn from the hall into my doorway. Ian and Robert got it out of apartment, and into the hallway in about 10 mins. Then got it into my new place (just another apartment in the same complex) in another 20. Wow!!! As a side note---both these guys are lean and wiry, but what?!?!?! Robert and Ian are so, so, so strong! Each one moved items that normally two people need to lift together! Talk about Supermen! I originally spoke to Andre with City Moving who set my appointment with the movers to be moved from Oahu to California. The movers were awesome very careful and punctual. However my issue comes with everything after I left the Islands. Tyler was my head mover, however I was left waiting for an email response or ANY sort of communication from him or ANYONE. I haven't heard from anyone from City Moving since December 18, 2021 and it is now January 3, 2022. They told me 6-8 weeks and it has now been eight weeks. I'm getting sent to voicemail, receiving automated email responses, and no one will answer my phone calls. The only thing I know about my items are that they claim they are in a warehouse in Long Beach, CA and there is no information on when I will be receiving my things. I've asked to speak to a supervisor and no one will take my calls. No one will get back to me, yet somehow they can still send me automated emails asking me to pay the left over 20% when I haven't even received my items? I will be calling my bank to dispute the 80% and 3% charge that I originally paid because I have not received any service and at this point my items are considered missing. Maybe now someone will call me. read more

I literally moved five times within the last year, using City Movers every single time. From LA to SF, from SF to a better place in SF, from the better place in SF to storage unit in SF and back into another place, and finally back to LA for work. Every single time the moves went flawlessly and as agreed upon prior, and I would strongly recommend Anthony, Thad, and the rest of the CIty Movers team for any size moves. They will do you right, and they are trustworthy, which is the most important thing for me. * I was actually helping a friend move that DID NOT use City Movers and I felt so bad for the bait & switching once they got their. Here's why I would never use them again: - They arrived 3 hours late for their appointment even though I told them that the deliveryman couldn't leave unless they were here. (The deliveryman was kind enough to wait 3 hours for them!) - I told them over the phone that one item weighed 600 lbs. and they assured me that they could handle it with 3 guys. When they finally did arrive, they said it was too heavy for 3 guys and left it on the street. - One of the 3 movers disappeared while they were figuring out if they could move everything. That left us with only 2 movers who definitely couldn't move the 600 lb. item. - When they finally decided that they couldn't move up the one heavy item, they decided to just quit the whole job and leave everything out on the street! - I had to plead with them to bring up whatever they could. They said they would only do it if I paid them their "minimum rate" which was almost the same as what they quoted me for the full move. I had no choice but to pay it. They really didn't seem to care about fulfilling a commitment to a customer. - The only positive comment is that they recommended another mover who came within 2 hours and did move the 600 lb. item up the stairs with no problem. Without the new movers, we would have been totally stuck. If you're looking for reliability and professionalism, don't pick City Movers. read more
