Coffee time! I was here at 6:30am and the gal behind the counter was dishing up coffee and pastries for locals and hotel guests. There are a couple small tables inside so it's possible to spend some laptop time here but it's not idea for more than an hour or two as it's not really laid out as a "coworking" space. Coffee was excellent and the wifi worked well. [Review 19472 overall - 1044 in South Carolina - 442 of 2023.]

This cute little coffee shop is to die for! It sits right on Carteret and is nestled into the building of a hotel. It faces the road though so you can't miss it! There is seating both inside and outside. In addition to some lovely pastries and drink options, there is a full-fledged store for other necessities, as well as gifts and items that will enhance ones life as they travel. Examples: eucalyptus sprigs, watches, bath salts, jewelry, art, etc. Don't forget the array of magazines and the paper! Most of the pastries are made in house, with a few being ordered. I loved the açai smoothie and cherry danish (my husband is addicted to them!) Each employee we have interacted with is friendly and informative. Will definitely return!

A small coffee shop in the City Lofts hotel building. Excellent coffee selection with multiple muffins and pastry choices. Very nice staff.

    Great selection!

Stopped in for a caramel frappe (and a/c). Super nice folks, great service and tasty coffee. We live close by, so we will be back!

Modern coffee shop and menu and server is friendly. Coffee is delicious. I'll be back.

Love this place! Have been coming here for years with family and friends. Love the Baristas and the coffee, and smoothies. The sandwich's are good as well. The only problem is a rude manager, he gives us dirty looks and isn't very friendly and makes us feel uncomfortable. We've spent a lot of money here and haven't had any problems before until, this trip. A bald, white man in his late 50s. Other than that would definitely recommend!

This delightful coffee shop was right next door to the City Loft hotel where we stayed on our recent visit to South Carolina. And lucky us, the hotel provides coupons good for free 16 ounce cups of coffee for each morning of your stay. My husband was a dear and trooped over every morning to get our coffee while I lolled in bed for a few extra moments. The coffee was always steaming hot, (just as I like it) and always delicious. There were a number of coffee flavors and styles from which to choose but for the most part I am a straight up non-flavored coffee gal, cream, no sugar. One day I popped into the shop myself to get a late afternoon iced coffee which gave me a chance to take a look around. Although small, this place has a lot to offer. And they open at 6:00AM which is good for early risers like us. There is a full coffee bar menu and an array of tea choices with both hot and cold options. There are fresh muffins, smoothies, a case with chilled white wines and a shelf of some reds, beer, newspapers, breakfast items like fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, egg and cheese sandwiches and lunch items like soups, salads, wraps and sandwiches. There is a lot packed into this small but very pleasant space. There is free Wi-Fi and a few tables and chairs in which to hang out although probably more than 6 people in here would feel tight. It's best suited to get your items to go. It appears this shop is owned by the same people who run the City Loft hotel so there is an emphasis on sustainable practices just like the hotel, and when possible they utilize organic products. This coffee was the best I had in Beaufort.

Great espresso! Pastries are average not worth it! Computers are welcomed! Service was great

Great coffee with friendly service. I always call ahead my order which is super convenient. About $1 cheaper than other places in town with a better rewards system. My favorite coffee place in town.

I was not entirely sure what a "waffle pop" would turn out to be, but I ended up with two of them in an order, freshly made and topped with one fruit and one sauce of choice. Getting bananas with blueberry sauce was a good choice, one of many I expect. My strawberry matcha with boba was compromised by them running out of strawberry boba, but the regular tapioca balls did just fine soaked in a robustly flavored beverage. Their donut selection was appealing, but I simply did not have room. It would be tough to get out of there without getting a ton of sugar, and this place did not seem to have a ton for the more niche special dietary needs. However, it did have a lot of interesting messaging as a community space, with resources directed towards military families in particular, which moves me to look favorably on the place. And their stuff is delicious.

It was not at all what I expected in a strip mall near a chain hotel. What a cheerful place, the walls yellow, the windows decorated with big bright suns, the menu boards artfully illustrated, kitchy motivational signs everywhere. I was greeted with a geniality matching the overall vibe by a woman whom it was apparent was the owner. I complimented her on the name "Sunny Summers". She told me it was named after her two daughters. There was a young girl working with her so I asked her if she was Sunny or Summer. She didn't say anything. As it turned out she was neither - just an unrelated employee. I had only come in for a cup of coffee but I saw the donuts and couldn't resist. Many of them were outrageous sugar bombs - and beautiful to look at. But I settled on a more sedate cinnamon-sugar. Glad I did. It was fried to order then dusted with the topping and served not in a bag but in a cute box sized just right for the single. So when I ate it in the car 5 minutes later it was still warm, and fresh as can be. Does she always do this or was it because I arrived just after opening? Unsure, but it was a spectacularly good donut. The coffee, too, was excellent. Strong, no bitterness or sourness, and from a local independent roaster. The other foods mostly fit in the category of sweet indulgences: donuts with crazy toppings, "waffle pops", french toast. A few lunch items like panini. The burger offering was made with pancakes rather than the traditional bun! Now a few words about the proprietor. I was astonished by her outfit that left little to the imagination. At 7 in the morning! It was hard to keep my eyes where they belonged but I managed! (Sorry, I have no photos, for obvious reasons.) I realized later, when I did more research on the place, that this was part of her shtick, playing off her reputation as retired professional wrestler Lacey Evans. Before that she was in the Marine Corps serving in the military police force. An interesting choice of careers for sure. There's a board with prepaid receipts that the less-fortunate can use to get food. That's great. I wish I had known about it when I was there, not later during my research. I would definitely have prepaid a meal. Also, discounts for military and first responders. Not necessarily how I would do things but I know her intentions were good. The world needs more places like this. So a plea to anyone reading this: You may not be able to give up your Dunkin and Starbucks completely, as I have. But just try it for a month, or even a week: next time you need a fix check Google or Yelp for independent coffee shops, try something different, even if you have to go a little out of your way. You may just discover a new favorite hangout.

My mother is totally blind and has worked with service dogs from The Seeing Eye for over 30 years. She and my father approached the hostess to be seated, with her service dog clearly wearing identification. The hostess immediately told them they were not allowed to enter the restaurant with the dog. My mother calmly explained that the dog is a legally protected service animal and showed her official ID. Despite this, the hostess continued to refuse entry. After my father dialed the police to report the denial of access, the hostess returned and said the manager had now approved their entry (the manager never came out) -- but they would have to wait to be seated even though other patrons were being seated immediately. At that point, another patron who had overheard the entire exchange spoke up. She was visibly offended by what she had witnessed and graciously offered my parents her table as it was called. Her kindness was the bright spot in an otherwise upsetting situation. Once seated, our waitress was wonderful -- kind, attentive, and professional. The food was good as well. However, by then, the damage was done. What should have been a pleasant family meal became a stressful and emotional experience. Losing our appetite was inevitable after watching my mother be treated in a way that was not only hurtful, but unlawful. I hope management uses this experience as an opportunity to properly train staff on service animal laws and disability access. No family should have to endure what ours did just to enjoy a meal out.
