First of all, people need to understand towing/salvage is a very tough and expensive industry. That being said, Daryll and Wendy seemed a little gruff and tense at first. But they went well above and beyond for customer service. I was stuck in a real bind which was my own fault. They answered all my questions, multiple times, on both the phone and in person. They walked me through the process of getting my car back and were extremely helpful and thorough. They were honest and the lot is secure with cameras. I was missing property and they understood my concerns and were amiable to the police being called. It turned out the highway patrol had it in safekeeping. read more

Used City Auto Towing through Progressive roadside assistance and had an extremely unprofessional experience. The driver went to the wrong gate entrance at our complex. That gate cannot be opened from our side, and within about 10 seconds of arriving, instead of trying to communicate or find the correct entrance, he immediately left. He called us asking us to open the gate, but we explained he was at the wrong one. When we called dispatch back, we were told they would not send another driver. Apparently the driver told them the gate "wasn't open" and that we shouldn't be serviced. When I explained that he was simply at the wrong gate, the dispatcher became defensive and accused me of being rude instead of trying to resolve the issue. After that, they refused to help further and eventually stopped taking our calls altogether. This was one of the worst roadside assistance experiences I've dealt with. Completely unprofessional customer service and zero effort to actually help the customer. I'll be filing a complaint with Progressive regarding the situation. If you use roadside assistance, I'd strongly recommend avoiding City Auto Towing. If anything goes wrong, don't expect accountability or customer care. read more

Was parked in Downtown Reno and my car wouldn't start and the app was showing a bunch of errors so I requested Mazda Roadside Assistance to tow my car to the dealer. Prior to parking the car was operating normally and showed no warning indicators. I was with some out of town guests and had a dinner scheduled to go to so I left the keys under the drivers mat and left the car and passed that information along. Tow Driver called me about an hour and a half later and send he had arrived. 10 minutes later he said he got it started by jumping it and asked me if I wanted him to bring the car to me at my location (I was at the Peppermill). I said as long as it would not cost me any money, then sure, why not. Upon arriving at the Peppermill the right rear tire was flat. The driver asked if I had hit something. I told him no and even if I did, the car would have not driven properly on a flat tire and the tire pressure monitoring system would have alerted me. The damage to the tire was a large slice in the sidewall on the INSIDE of the tire! Why would the driver ask if I wanted to bring the car to me if the car had a flat tire? (Because before he towed it, it didn't.) It is obvious the tire was damaged when it was pulled onto the trailer. The tire dealership would not replace just the damaged tire even though the new tire tread depth would be within the 4/32nd depth difference as the used tires. So I went out of my way to purchase a used tire on Ebay, have it mounted on the wheel and put the wheel on the car myself. Note that an insurance claim is unrealistic in this case as it has to be a collision claim, not a comprehensive claim and the collision deductible of $500 or even $250 would not make it worth filing a claim. Plus then I'd have a collision claim on my insurance history. So I got to thinking, if I was the towing company business owner, the fair thing to do would be to reimburse the customer for the tire replacement cost, especially considering the customer went out of there way to purchase a single used tire instead of having multiple new tires installed. Sent a letter over three weeks ago asking for reimbursement for the $100.64 total cost of the used tire plus mounting and balancing. Never heard from them. Not an upstanding business. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This company was assigned to me through my insurance's roadside assistance. My battery went dead overnight, and I had it towed to the shop since it was covered. The shop did the repairs, but when I drove home, I noticed my wheels were horribly misaligned. Upon arriving home, I noticed the rear wheels didn't look straight. I attempted to contact City Auto Towing immediately and was told they would get back to me at an indeterminate time. The next day, after being on the phone with the insurance company for over an hour, I went down the street to Les Schwab get it fixed. The mechanic noticed that both control arms were bent in exactly the way you'd expect them to be if improperly handled by the towing company. I called the towing company back after I took pictures and before I approved any repairs. I was told that someone would get back to me later (again). Given that it was Saturday, the shop was closed on Sunday, and I had work Monday morning, I approved the repairs, expecting reimbursement. I got a call after approving the repairs and walking home to wait for service to be done. It was City Auto Towing. The man on the phone suggested that the repairs would not be reimbursed unless I went through their process. First of all, I don't trust them with my car anymore. Secondly, they wouldn't get to it until Monday when I would be at work. The guy even suggested driving the car in an unsafe condition and allowing them to take the car from my place of work. If you caused the damage, you don't get to dictate to me how I have to go about fixing it. I don't care if that's how things are usually done. I don't care if it's normal. It's not right. City Auto Towing has now cost me almost $400 for something that should have been a free service. They are an embarrassment to their profession and should be ashamed. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They hire dangerous drivers and if you call to report, you are harassed. I was almost rear ended by one of City Auto Towing's flatbed trailer trucks. I was stopped at the yellow light; the tow truck was behind me. He changed lanes, hit the gas and ran multiple red lights at Plumb and I-580, switching lanes and speeding so he could get on the freeway, putting me and everyone else at risk. I called the office when I arrived safely home to report this dangerous driver. I spoke with Jill. She asked what I wanted to have done, and I answered that I thought the driver should be terminated or put on probation, because the driver acted so dangerously. And I told her I would post a review. Then the yelling began. How dare I post a negative review that might hurt a business? She hammered me with useless questions, yelling that as first responders they risked their lives and one of their drivers would never act in such a way. I eventually hung up because I could not get a word in and she just kept yelling. I was promised a call back by a manager/owner. Never happened. I have read more reviews, and a driver acting this way is NOT UNUSUAL for this company. Also there are comments about the less than competent staff that answers the phone; I can't disagree. But I find it incredibly disturbing that Jill must know that others have complained about drivers avoiding red lights by utilizing dangerous moves. She acted like I was the first person to ever call about this. I am not. There is NO integrity in this office, imo. And she cavalierly offered the lives of her three children to back up her claims. I called back to let the company know this development, and I will acknowledge that the employee who answered was polite and thanked me for letting her know I had notified NHP. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I normally have such good experiences with their drivers on a personal level but this?? This is ridiculous. After a day that had already been horrible. Car had broken down on the freeway to which I had to park it in a lot and call a tow truck to deliver my car to my mechanic (should've went with a more reliable company according to the reviews on the company, I know). Guy got to the pickup spot faster than I expected, hooked up the car! Righteous! Headed to the mechanic at the same time. Noticed the driver was a bit of a careless driver. Going faster than usual with cargo on the tow truck. Hitting bumps too fast, Changing lanes without signal. Etc. Finally get to the mechanics shop, Couldn't help but notice there was fluid coming off the tow truck, Low and behold. The tow truck driver hooked it to the wrong spot and TORE my break line. As if my car didn't have problems already with breaking down, just add it to the list! Extremely dissatisfied. They STILL charged us for the tow, they claim that they'll fix the break line, according to the paperwork, I certainly hope so. Only time will tell, Once the car is fixed and they stay true to their word on whether the break line is fixed. Then I'll update the review. But until then. My son's new 2019 White Chevy Camaro was picked up in The Virginia City Highlands on June 9th, 2023 by these people and taken to Champion Chevrolet. The Chevy dealership called after they had the car on the lift and said the tow truck ripped through the two small holes in the frame of my son's car with their hooks. They were supposed to hook and pull the car from the larger holes. This is a common mistake however when the tow driver UNHOOKED the car at the dealership and saw the damage, he said absolutely NOTHING. This is severely lacking in integrity. I asked the Service tech how we could prove this tow truck damaged the vehicle because they're liars and he replied "The tears through these holes are fresh with no rust or dirt etc". The Dealership has promised to help us with this incident if we need it. We filed a claim and are hopeful that things go well and in our favor. Nobody should have the frame of their car frame ripped and dropped off like nothing ever happened. Use them at your own risk and if you DO use them, research how your car should be towed and supervise them. Update: Another time my other son had a flat tire on the front of his rear-wheel drive sports car and since the flat was on the front, it couldn't be towed with the rear wheels off the ground so luckily I PULLED UP TO ASSIST because my young son was about to let this guy tow his car pulled from the front while in neutral with the car running. WHAT IN THE...... I begged him to put the car on the dolly because knowing it was a rear-wheel drive car, he should have come prepared with a flatbed to begin with. City Auto Tow as a third party to come do the simple flat tire exchange for my spare replacement and although anyone can do this we are relying in these peoples professional skills. I would assume any good employee would of brought over the proper tools to utilize to get my 2019 Ford Ranger to exchange the tire and was given basically the middle finger with this immature, unprofessional and filled with frustration at times attending to the service call. Brought no tools and seemed rather anxious to leave towards the end. Never did the young guy introduced himself nor did he had the decency to excuse himself. I never expected a towing service/storage lot to be a great place. However, this lot is, hands-down, the worst place I have ever experienced. For starters, the individual working at the desk was very unpleasant and not Helpful. In addition to the poor customer service, more damage was done to the car parked on the lot than the accident. The individuals working there were slamming cars around like they had no future purpose, and we're already considered salvage. Insurance companies, beware; you probably have to pay more after a car is parked in this lot. The lack of care of the employees is disturbing. I voiced concern about the treatment of the vehicles to the front desk and was told, "Don't worry, everything's being recorded by cameras." The comment did not make me feel better about the treatment of the visitors to the lot or the cars. I thought that's great you get to watch footage of my car being destroyed further. I would never recommend this lot or experience to my worst enemy. If I could provide a less than one-star review, I would. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE or move your car as soon as possible. read more

I got a flat at 7PM on Wednesday, July 8th 2015. I called my roadside assistance through USAA- and was told City Auto Towing would arrive in about 30mins. My 5 year old son and I waited for their arrival, in the rain. By 8:45- I called back to get an ETA. USAA called City Auto's dispatch- who informed them that their truck had broken down and a second truck would be dispatched, and that they should have called (they didn't). By 9:45 - I again called, USAA contacted City Auto's dispatch again- and was told they would now be there in 15 mins. By 10:45- I called for the third time- USAA called City Auto- & I was told the driver was not coming. He had decided not to come, and USAA could find a 2nd Tow company to dispatch to me. Keep in mind- City Auto had my phone number, and never once called either time to say they were not coming, & instead stranded a single mother for 4 HOURS in the rain while her frustrated 5 year old begged to go home and go to bed. Never in my life have I been more appalled by a company- & shocked at their lack or concern and care. They left me on the side of the road, without a word , in the dark and rain, with a child. If I could give them, zero stars, I would. They are the worst towing company. Very rude employees and no regard for others. CPCN 7117 was towing a car. They pulled up in front of us and we had to slam on our brakes as he didn't use a turn signal and blocked the whole street. That was the only way to get to my home, so me and three other cars had to drive up on the curb and sidewalk to get around. We honked and he just waved, then put his car in park across the whole street. Because of having to go up on the curb, it scuffed up and ruined my hubcaps completely and they were very nice and expensive. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, unless you want a rude driver with lack of regard for anyone or anyone's property. Worst tow company in town! I got into a really bad accident Monday morning and totaled our xterra. City auto tow was called by NHP. I kept telling them I did not want the car to go to thier tow yard. They said it had to and I had no choice. Later day after getting medical attention I called them and they were nothing but rude to me everything when I was just trying to get information. I asked if I signed over the title can they zero out the tow fee cause I did not have $575. Absurd huge fee. The girl was rude and said no. Got a relative involved and got price down. When I went in person the next day the girls behind the counter had these smug looks on their faces I wanted to smack off. I got into the car to get things out and I said them I hope you never have an accident like this and see the wreckage in day light and have the likes of you people treating them like crap and walked out. Place is a racket running with private lots around town. My car was illegally towed by them yesterday. I have all the evidence I need to take the lot owner and possibly this business to small claims. Filing papers tomorrow. The lot owner told me he called and since I WAS a customer at his business and my car had been illegally towed he would knock the price down from 268 to 205 by calling them if I agreed to continue to stay at his hotel. This towing company does not follow municipal guidelines on towing vehicles off of lots. According to 6.10.040 (e)(5) if no signage is placed on a lot, the towing company must post notice on the windshield for no less than 24 hours before towing, but they will simply tow with no warning. Many complaints have been filed against them with the city. $200 charge, then they charge you an extra $100 to pick up your car if it's after 5 P.M. Scam artists. read more

On top of the flat $300 charge just to begin with they said they charge? Other companies said their flat fee was around 120 and 150. Anyways it cost me $1,140 just to get my car out of their lot. But wait it's not done yet! They also charged me $50 just to move my car 20 ft so that it was off their property.... Like $1,140 wasn't enough! LOL. Worst towing company I've ever encountered in my life. I would give 0 stars but that wasn't an option. Avoid this company. Some shady, shady stuff going on. This is price gouging in its purest form. We notified the BBB and local news channels and they're currently investigating. Oh, I also called the front desk agent when you call their advertised phone number and I was inquiring about my vehicle (obviously frustrated) and she asked me if I was calling to get my car out of the lot or if I was calling to "talk shit". Not a very professional manner at all within this whole business. Classless people and an obvious classless establishment. Wouldn't recommend this company to even my deepest, darkest enemy. read more
