We've been here a few times. Of those times, we usually left having purchased a gun. The very first time we came here, I didn't really like it too much. The older gentleman, Demetrius (?) came off...pushy. I figured it was like all the other stores we've been to. If there's one thing I hate when shopping, it's being pushed. However, my bf convinced me to come back with him because he "really, really, really, reallyyyy" wanted a new gun. What made this experience so much better: 1) It was pretty empty 2) Nick Nick definitely didn't seem pushy at all. He is very knowledgeable about all things guns. You can tell he works there because he loves it. He took the time to show my bf every single gun he seemed remotely interested in. They always seem to have nice "gun conversations". Every gun we've purchased so far has been from Nick. Although getting sales is important, I really feel like he wants you to be happy with your purchase. Huge plus. As far as pricing and variety goes, I can't tell you because I haven't got much of a clue about guns. I have one and it's kind of cute and all but...you know. (Hah. I can just see all the guys' faces scruch from me calling it cute) I'm learning! They seem to have more of a selection than places like Tabor and Golden Gate Guns, but I could be mistaken. read more

Update: 1/4/21 I still stand by my original post. Ive brought a firearm from them damn near every thirty days since my first one. They know me by first name and all now lol. Their selection of firearms definitely worth visiting. Im not gonna name all the ones I've brought but i will say my last four put of five came from them. I wouldn't go there to have your gun worked on. I purchased a gun from them and later had them worked on. I later found out they improperly installed a part causing my new gun to malfunction. Luckily I had a certified gunsmith fix the problem.. I went back to City Arms and was told someone would call me back to resolve the issue and I am still waiting. I am disappointed they don't stand by their work. Luckily I discovered the issue early, had the gun repaired instead of finding out the gun would not work when I really needed it. Also they promised that a gun someone I know is looking for would come in in one or two days, that was over a week and a half ago. Too many false promises and poor workmanship. Wrote a review just a few days ago with my past few experience at City Arms. It was pleasant before dealing with everyone in the store. Until today when I dealt with Uncle V (same experience with all the other negative reviews on yelp). Horrible customer service from him. Looking to pick up a few rifles, and a Scar 17 was one of them if they had it in stock. He pretty much look down on me implying I can't afford it. Asking if I even know the sticker price on the Scar. I told him about 2800, he laughed and said "if you can find it at that price, I want to buy them all." He wasn't able to help me find 2 other rifles I wanted, stating its out of production or not in stock. I went to another firearms dealer shortly after and they was able to help me locate the 2 rifles Uncle V couldn't. Ran a price check with them on the Scar 17 and it was $350 cheaper than what Cityarms wanted . Bought both the rifles from the other firearms dealer and will be back to buy the Scar (not from Cityarms). If Cityarms actually read this review, please notify Uncle V, I can find him Scar 17 FDE for about $2850. I've been a loyal customer to Cityarms and recommended friends to buy from them. That have changed today. I will never step foot inside for future purchases. I will make sure to notify friends that purchase from them to never go back. read more

These guys are truly shady. For the record, I have purchased two weapons from them and upon buying the third they literally tried a bait and switch. I'd suggest you keep a close eye on anything you have done there or buy there. I hate to say it as I live in Pacifica and they are less than a mile away but I'll go to San Bruno or SSF from here out. I had to go to City Arms to buy Pepper Spray . I knew nothing about Pepper Spray, other than what it is used for, so hadn't really taken into account that there would be so many different kinds! The guys at City Arms were all very friendly and knowledgable, and helped steer me towards an excellent purchase. All the men were nice, and very eager to wait on me (not in that creepy old man kind of way though), but the again perhaps that was on account of the fact that I was a young woman, in a gun store, wearing high heels. read more

This is a CANDY SHOP for grown men. Don't come in if you are not ready to spend money because I guarantee you, you WILL succumb to your desires. The people running this place are so nice and hilarious. They are also extremely knowledgeable about guns and firearms. The firearms selection here is the largest I've seen in the (not-so-gun-friendly) Bay. This can range from small .22 mouseguns to 50 AE Desert Eagles and revolvers in addition to a huge shotgun and rifle selection! They also have a huge variety of ammunition, gun safes, cleaning kits, accessories, and knives. The prices here are very reasonable; they are darn close to what you can get online, sans S&H (which may actually mean some things here are cheaper than online). Overall, this is just a cool place to be in. If you are new to guns, then I highly recommend coming here to get educated by the staff before making any decisions. The customers are gun lovers and cops as well. As mentioned earlier, the Bay is not gun-friendly and its good to have a place like this here. read more

I love this place. They have a good selection, good prices, and they are fair with you. They aren't always chatty and being as busy as they are, they have focus issues, but if you are patient, you get excellent service. Uncle V is a really good man. I tried to trade in some pistols when I needed cash in a hurry. He looked them over asked what I wanted. Closed the case and told me to go sell them on CalGuns because he couldn't come close to giving me what I wanted. He did that in such a way that it really felt like an uncle telling you something you didn't want to hear, but that you needed to. I would have taken anything, he wouldn't buy and his advice netted me exactly what I wanted from the pistols when I sold them on CalGuns the next day. It's a business, sure, but they aren't out to make money at anyone's expense. I will note that if you have dealt with Eastern Europeans and get their humor and their style, you might do better with them. I think they are a treasure and recommend them highly. read more

Part 2, Once again the Colleen, Uncle V & Demetrius made me feel great walking through the door and greeting me by name. It was pick up day for me, Christmas in September! The painful 10 day waiting period was over and I was now picking up my new Noveske Infidel & Bushmaster ACR. 10 days earlier Uncle V and I had struck a deal on the two rifles and I paid in full and left. Broke but happy as a clam! The very next day before opening time, Colleen called saying, Uncle V had accidently over charged me by $150.00. I told her no worries we'll straighten it out, she said she knew I'd be ok but Uncle V was worried at what I might think. So one pick up day (yesterday) Uncle sincerely apologized over and over and said he felt terrible. Which I believe 100%, City Arms is my ONLY one-stop-shop! read more

These guys are AWESOME! I went in last week, and was greeted by Henry, who (as he put it) was serving as my "tailor" for the next 20 or so minutes in helping me find a handgun. After getting the money together, my vehicle registration (per CA residency requirement law), further educating myself on the absurd laws here, etc, I walked back in this week, so I could buy my Sig Sauer P226 from Henry (while he didn't remember my name, he remembered the gun I came for!). After one final handling of it (had considered the 229, (think I had them confused!) which did not fit my hand!) -- which fit like a glove (Henry said, "That's the gun for you dude."), I said "Let's do it!". He proceeded to pack it up, lock it up, scan it, give me my HSC test, then I hopped over to Colleen to fill out the paperwork, and now I just have to wait 10 long days! If you're interested in personal protection or home defense, want a great selection to choose from (whether you're an avid hunter, pro competitor, or complete novice like myself looking to secure the right to protect yourself before it disappears here in Kalifornia), fantastic staff (Henry is an absolute gentleman -- he's there Fridays and Saturdays! Colleen is a sweetheart, Dmitri (interacted with him in getting my HSC certificate and on a paperwork snafu) is very knowledgeable. Whoever you interact with there, you're bound to come away feeling listened to and cared for!), and reasonable prices -- don't even think about looking elsewhere. Whether it's an "Accord" S&W M&P Shield, or a "Mercedes-Benz" Sig 226, or anything in between -- these guys have it. Took a bit of work, but he was able to hand me back a fully functioning weapon! UPDATE: After a successful trip to Jackson to at last try out my beautiful firearm, I dropped back in to pick up more ammunition, and pay my dear friend Henry a visit. He asked if I'd gotten squared away, was glad to hear I did. I walked in, asked for 3 more boxes of ammo. He felt bad about the snafu, so he tossed in a 4th box free, and even discounted the 3 he charged me for! He even engaged me in some small talk from when I had seen him.. 2 weeks ago -- I had completely forgotten, but he remembered! I thanked him, ("You guys take good care of me, that's why I come back!") headed for the door, and said goodbye to Colleen (who remembered my name from over a MONTH ago (I don't recall seeing her last time I went in -- and at any rate, I likely didn't interact with her beyond a "hi/bye"!)), who gave me a friendly "goodbye" back! Cannot rave enough about these guys. Can you get ammo & cleaning supplies for a few bucks less at MidwayUSA? Yes. Is City Arms the Home Depot of firearms, with every cleaner, etc imaginable available? No -- TW25B, for instance, you'll have to get at Midway. If you're looking to get into reloading, I don't think you'll find even necessary accessories here (with the possible exception of brass). So for that, go to Midway. If you'd rather pay a few bucks less, wait 3-10 days, and not support your local economy, stick with Midway. But can you get what IS available instantly in your hands, with friendly, personal service? No. If that sort of thing matters to you -- and to any gun owner, supporting your local shops if and when you can SHOULD be -- go here! read more

I have been coming here for quite some time. I have always had a good interaction with everyone here. I find it interesting when I saw those reviews recently. One of the reviews is from someone who just leaves negative reviews and I think seems pretty questionable as far as something to go by. Funny enough, with regards to the review by "lonnie" I was there that day. It is interesting to hear the perspective from someone else on what they saw/experienced. As I want to share what I observed. The person at the door, asked exactly what that person wanted to do, as the store is limited in capacity because of the County Guidlines. One person, said they were unsure. The person at the door said, "we are restricted on people we can have in here, you are more than welcome to look, but otherwise if you wanted to "JUST" take the Firearms Safety Certificate you will have to make reservations for another day." That person declined to come in. The other two in the party went in. I was looking at the used counter, when one person full of self importance and hubris approached another, who was taking a test in order to purchase a firearms. One of the owners, said that the person is taking a test and under state guidelines that the other person needs to remove himself from the area as to not invalidate the original person's test. The second guy, threw a hissy fit as a childish, arrogrant and stuck-up as can be. The employee was merely trying to guide the guy out the area. They merely just tried to say he can't be there or the first individual taking the test would have their test invalidated. Onward a couple weeks later, I am picking up something that I purchase (CA 10 day wait). I see the same guy (Lonnie), he's chatting it up being fake nice, being a total *****. Totally being a "Mean Girls" frenemy to them. The people at city arms are nice, hard working people and just go about their business. He actually purchases another item, and is trying to butter up the staff to get more ammo. What Pr**k move. Lo and behold, he makes a comment after they no longer are any use to him. So long story short, the person actually went there several times, and pulls a "Mean Girls" on them. From lining up to finished up, smooth process. The guy sat in front of the door won't let you know SIGN IN is necessary til you reach to him. I told him I wanna take the FSC exam, the response is "are u gonna purchase sth? If not we could not let u take the exam" I guess most of the firearm retailers do the same, the exam only takes $25 selling guns and ammo definitely the main profit; however, customer service should be enhanced,45mins in line finally got into the store an old guy give me some suggestions of gun and he let me bought the gun before I earn the certificate‍. After finished all payments, another guy gave me a exam paper finish in couple mins, all set. Being new to SF I was looking for a friendly local gun shop. I found one located in the city and although they are friendly, after waiting 4 weeks to try to do a transfer and still being unable to do it, because they had storage issues, I found city arms! Everyone is incredibly friendly, their selection is much bigger and better, for guns, ammo and accessories. They are knowledgable and have no problem taking the time to answer all questions...and I ask a lot of questions! I highly recommend them and have purchased a few pieces from them, and will no doubt be expanding my collection through them. read more

I'd heard about this place, but finally got down there yesterday. Without a doubt, this is the best gun-store I've been to in the Bay Area so far. It must be true, they were incredibly busy even near closing time yesterday. The lady who handled my paperwork, (and I believe, always handles everyone's paperwork) was incredibly nice, and professional, and knowledgeable. In fact, everyone in there was nice. They even catered to my non-shooter girlfriend who just wanted to hold a few guns because they "looked cool." Very friendly service! My husband and I along with our baby came in today since my husband wanted to pick up another gun. Henry helped us out and took his time showing us the guns even though it was super busy. He was very informative and did not rush us in our decision and was very playful to our daughter. I love these crazy russians! They have a lot of guns to pick from and will generally tell you BIGGER is BETTER. They also did a great job with the NorCal P6/225 group buy and handled it very well. I love going here just to kick it and listen to the stories these guys have to tell, and they know their stuff especially when it comes to keeping big black scary "assault" weapons legal. Infact they helped me build my AR-15 =) Prices are always good, they'll always great a fellow defender of the 2nd amendment with a smile, and the ammo prices are not too shabby at all! The drive there is also quite nice since it's a short hop on HIghway 1, parking is adequate and you'll always run into interesting people here. Even the customers are willing to chat with you! I went here looking for my first gun. I had an idea of what I was looking for, but I was an obvious newbie. Another woman who happened to be there offered some helpful advice that made me completely not know what I wanted. I thought for sure they guys working there would be annoyed that I needed a bunch of questions answered and a help with just basic knowledge. Vladimir, the older gentleman, was speaking rather gruffly to another customer (one who did seem to know what he wanted) which made me a tad bit nervous to be next in line for his expertise. However, when it came to be my turn, he was helpful and patient. He offered his expert opinion and answered all of my questions. When it came to what I actually chose, he made it very clear that it doesn't matter what his favorite is, I have to be the comfortable with it. That sounds obvious, I know, but a woman going to buy her first gun and going in with an obvious lack of intricate knowledge could be easy prey. Not here though. They seemed to have a good selection, they definitely offered great advice and service. I feel comfortable going there and asking any questions -- I'm confident I'd get an honest answer. read more

Large store, well-stocked, large variety of handguns, shotguns and rifles. Arrived at noon on a Saturday, store was busy but staff greeted me right away. Ken, young guy working the counter, introduced himself and spent a lot of time talking to me, he was very friendly and professional. I was looking for a particular revolver, which they did not have in stock, but Ken took my phone number and promised to call me if the item should come in. Prices for handguns seemed a bit high but not outrageous. Overall, City Arms was probably the most positive experience I've had so far in any Bay Area gun store. read more

I have been shooting competitively and leisurely as far back as I can remember. Over the course of about 12 years to my age of 22 I have been though the ringer more than once as pertaining to California gun laws, and surly gun shop workers. Thank goodness City Arms exists. I have had horrible experiences in a certain "Vacaville" based shop and City Arms broke the mold, I was delighted as I perused the stock of rifles and pistols and engaged in banter with the Russian guys. For someone new to gun ownership this shop is fantastic, for those that require special orders and know exactly what they want to get, well, City Arms will help you get it. Also, their prices are very reasonable. As far as stock goes, they carry plenty of glocks, 1911's, HK's, Rugers, S&W's, etc. What sets them apart is their more exotic firearms typically not standard fare to CA. Desert Eagles, Five-seveNs, Sako TRG's, Noveske N4's and benelli M4's tend to be in stock often and always seems to be changing. Dimitri is a great guy, typically you can find him behind the computer managing the DROS'. Yan (Don't know how to spell his name) is also a nice fellow. They all know what they are talking about (for the most part, we all have opinions. Come on.) and are clearly well versed in black rifle law. If you want to obtain a California legal AR-15 check them out. Just remember, like anything, treat them with respect and you will receive it in turn. WOW is right. When I visited, there were four or five customers in there, and three guys behind the counter. Business seemed brisk. Which is fine. All the guys working there were busy answering questions and helping customers inspect the merchandise. You know how it is when you start asking questions...sometimes the answer leads to two more questions. This did not faze either of the two gents I spoke with. Each had what appeared to me to be a very clear and thorough understanding of every sort of weapon and ammunition, whether they sold it or not. I came in to pick up some supplies and browse for a rifle. I like a wide selection. They definitely have it. A very wide selection of handguns and long guns. A small selection of used or consigned long guns (I didn't check on such handguns, though.) They had plenty of ammunition choices, as well as cleaning and storage supplies like brush kits, carriers and safes of all sizes. I understand that they don't do smithing there, but that they can do proper scope-mounting. But whatever else you may be looking for, there's a good chance they'll have it in stock. These guys seem to know their stuff, and are friendly and patient in helping find what you're looking for. The only concern about selection is that it may be wide, but not tall. I came looking for a reasonably priced .308 rifle. To me, that meant more like a Remington 770 or something for around $500. The "good beginner rifle" I was offered was the $1050 Savage 10FCP McMillan. Sheesh. read more

The consignments count as PPT, not towards your one handgun every 30 days. 2014 california handgun list went from ~1200 to ~1100 guns due to the new handgun list requirement of micro stamping , which is not even available yet! I came here to buy my first gun. The folks that run the place were very cool, I don't exactly "look the part" in a store like this so I have to admit I had a bit of anxiety about the whole experience, but my hipster ass was treated just like everyone else in the place...with respect, wit, and damn good service. I was sort of shocked at how nice they made it for me. They had plenty of guns on the shelves (including the one I walked in to buy...my beautiful Walther p99 AS), it really is a candy store. Not only were there all the standard modern guns and factory custom 1911's but they had a really cool section with older used firearms. The gentleman that helped me was an older man with an Eastern European accent, he was full of knowledge and very helpful about answering my questions. I took my 'test' (I use quotations because the only way a person could possibly fail it is if they could not read the English language), bought my gun, and that was that. Overall great service. Really solid selection of firearms. Very helpful employees. I'll be back without a doubt. The only way to improve the place would be to lower the prices a bit but I really can't complain about paying list price for a brand new (and not so easy to find) handgun in the Bay Area. I've come and done business here several times and I like the selection of firearms. They have interesting consignments and a changing selection of handguns. There seems to be something for everyone here. The price is respectable. I find it cheaper to buy from them then transfer a lower priced internet order. After the transfer fee they charge, the item would have cost more than if you buy it direct from them. Interestingly enough after I transferred a handgun I bought from impactguns.com, they also acquired one to sell in their shop. As to listed prices they seemed to always be lower than MSRP. To me, that's respectable. With so few gun shops to choose from and with them so far apart, it's hard to do price comparison from shop to shop. Other things I like about this shop are the location and the openness of the store. Nestled in a quiet Pacifica strip mall, it is a safe place to go to. It doesn't have a lot of car or foot traffic so I don't feel I will offend anyone shopping for firearms here. Even though the shop is only a block away from a school athletic field, it seems to live harmoniously with its neighbors. The store keeps its doors open during business hours and a lot of light enters the store. This is a good feeling for me to shop in. In contrast, Bullseye in Marin county is a range also and so it is a dark place that makes shopping there feel unsavory. Finally I like the fact that they accept AmEx. Unfortunately I have to say the shop keeper and some staff make this place intimidating to go to. Shopping here reminds me of many photo electronic stores near Times Square where they sell lots of the latest merchandise, but the people are rude and unfriendly. Dimitry and uncle V. set the tone for the customer service problems. Uncle V. is essentially Archie Bunker incarnate. He treats you with respect if you know what you want and show up to buy after a brief inspection of the item. Anything more and you'll get snide remarks, suspicious stares, and a cold shoulder. They do however differ from those Times Square businesses in that they do legitimate business. They don't do anything underhanded and they clearly label their items with prices marked. A final word for anyone who wants to transfer through them. You must be vigilant about tracking the shipping of your item. Get a tracking number from the shipper and the arrival date. Bring the proof to the store so they have no cause to question it. Then they will process the transfer with no question or delay. I will continue to do business with them. Good luck to you all! Update: Two weeks ago I visited Beretta gallery in NYC and after requesting they transfer my purchase to City Arms, the Beretta gallery was told by City Arms that they no longer handle transfers. Went to city arms for my second time with the intention of buying a shotgun and that is exactly what I did. I had spoken to Dimitri and asked if they had a particular shotgun I wanted. He said yes but not in the color I wanted. He further probed into what I'd be using it for and suggested a different model by the same maker. When I showed up, he explained to me why I would want the shotgun he suggested vs. the shotgun I wanted. I ended up w/ the one he suggested. He also saved me about $400. "Who wants to spend money?" I have been coming to City Arms for a few years now, did several PPTs and several purchases and they have always provided top notch service. Dropped in here the other day to get some lead-free ammo (save our condors) and had a great experience. Got helped by the young guy working there. We chatted about hunting, range shooting and he explained to me why being left handed (like him) and shooting right-handed guns was a benefit. I don't know that I'm fully convinced, but he made a convincing and passionate argument. Additionally, he let me check out the oh so sweet Benelli R1 ($1450).
