An earlier introduction and walk through at Motorfast a few months ago impressed me. Their shop is large, well equipped and it has been there for a while. Plus they have all different types of motorcycles, dirt bikes and scooters in for work. So I made an appointment and dropped it off a few days later. Mr. Borges was friendly, efficient, likes talking about bikes and he had the Virago's leak fixed about a week later (new side cover gasket had to be ordered). The bike runs great and no longer leaves a drip behind . I will definitely be taking my Aprilia Scarabeo 150 there next for a carb cleaning.

After our first appointment which I thought was a decent interaction, my bike started experiencing electrical issues which I believe was caused by either him or his assistant technician. After trying to schedule another appointment to diagnose the electrical issue and have some saddles installed, he gave me an appointment date multiple times for the 22nd, 30th, and then the again on the 6th of the following month which I confirmed for all 3 times! but was never put in his schedule nor honored. I was put off 3 times and had this appointment rescheduled on multiple occasions just to never even have it. As he blamed me for not clarifying whether he needed a specific part or not which was already discussed and not really even relevant for the other work needing to be done on the bike or for the already confirmed appointment times. His MANIPULATIVE & SELECTIVE MANAGEMENT STYLE, or just poor scheduling and communication skills will unfortunately never have me return to receive his services. Also, the oem part he claimed I needed and used as his excuse to not schedule me for, was up charged because he thought I was unaware of motorcycle repair or parts pricing. Nini at the front desk was absolutely perfect for the job imo: compassionate, reassuring, and exactly what a first-timer needs before throwing a leg over a bike for the first time for real. Freddie and Henry were great too, really easy dudes to talk to and very helpful with sharing tips and other pointers for me. I'll be honest, I dropped the bike an equal number of times on both sides over the weekend, all at zero mph (embarassing af). Symmetrically bruised ego, perfectly balanced. Returning it felt intimidating, but the whole team handled it with zero judgment and genuine professionalism. I didn't try to hide anything and they made the whole process painless, albeit with some monetary penalties caused by my inexperience (I own up to this though). I'm leaving with my wallet lighter but with my heart genuinely fuller for the experience. The environment this shop creates for nervous beginners like me is genuinely rare, and it made me feel supported and motivated to come back and do better next time. Will absolutely be back for my next rental and keep getting ride time in, because real experience gained like I did is priceless. He wrote me up…read morea contract for a good slightly used engine, but what he neglected to tell me was it comes with poor compression, an intake valve leak from front cylinder, completely seized beyond repair oil pressure release valve so pressure was through the roof, and oh I can't forget about the terrible crank shaft end play issue! End play was so bad that the compensating sprocket was kissing the inside of the outer primary and grinding away the outer primary from the inside out. Also it is forcing me to remove the engine myself (which I've never done) and split the crankcase (also never done) in order to figure out what exactly he did wrong, if it's fixable how much it'll cost but if not how much it's gonna cost to replace what needs replacing! Oh and due to the end play problems the clutch basket and hub are now being worn down by the primary chain bc they are no longer in alignment with the compensating sprocket! I will never trust him with anything mechanical as long as he lives!! I strongly suggest you stay clear of his place of shady business dealings! If you're unlucky enough to have your bike there now, I'd rush and get it moved somewhere else!

I used to also go to their old location north of 84 on El Camino, and I am extremely glad they moved to this location. Much larger space and very modern look for a Cycle Gear. I was worried that since it was older that it might need to be changed and sitting on the side of the highway with a busted belt is not a good feeling. I called up and the gentleman who answered the phone was polite and understood what I was looking for. But he also gave me some pointers on what I needed to look out for in the belt in order to replace it. He did not try to rip me off, told me his shop rate and a rough estimate on how much it would cost to replace the belt. He also gave me some information on the factory HD hardware that came with my bike. To where he informed me that I do not need to replace it, unless certain conditions were met with the wear and tear. He told me how to inspect the belt and what to look for. I appreciate this candor in the repair business. There are so many places that would sight unseen replace the belt and charge someone. This place does its best to help their customer and helps them understand their bike.
