He's been working incredibly hard to build a better life for himself, he saved everything he could to buy a car to get to school and work. We helped him search and found a 2015 Nissan Sentra listed by A1 Motors in Ocoee, FL for $5,550. He took a Greyhound from Tallahassee to Orlando, and we met him to see the car. The dealer only let us drive it around one block, but the car seemed clean and okay on the surface. We agreed to help him cover the difference and purchased it together. Within HOURS of leaving the dealership, the check engine light came on. We had the code read at Autozone and the code suggested a sensor issue. We called the owner of A1 Motors, who was immediately dismissive and rude, stating "it was sold as-is" and refused to help in any way. So we bought the part ourselves and installed it, trying to get the student back on the road so he could return to class. But just one day later, the car broke down completely on the highway back to Tallahassee and had to be towed. We had it evaluated at a Nissan dealership, who confirmed the transmission is failing and needs to be replaced--at a cost of over $7,000. This young man had the car for less than 48 hours. We reached out again to A1 Motors and asked if they would at least take the car back. They have declined and we were blocked. Let me be clear: 1. We understand "as-is" sales, but we asked if we could take it to a mechanic assured us that they had their mechanic check it out and there were no mechanical issues with it. 2. But no reputable dealer should sell a car that breaks down within 24-48 hours due to a major powertrain failure. This young man is now left stranded, out of money, and without a vehicle. The dealer has made it clear he has no intention of doing the right thing. Please help us by spreading the word about A1 Motors in Ocoee, FL. Don't let another student, family, or working person fall victim to this kind of shady, predatory behavior.

The vehicles were well overpriced and the one looked at clearly had damage he had worked to conceal after picking it up at the auction on the adjacent lot. This was the case with the GX470 we looked at- chrome caps were applied to doors and side mirrors to conceal faded and worn away paint work that I inquired about, dyed leather seats were obvious but he denied this being done, undercarriage had been painted to conceal most likely rust. Read other online reviews and feedback on google, Carfax, and BBB. Thankfully, I found all of the negative reviews and called some local auto shops to confirm my suspicions. I questioned why his vehicle was so grossly overpriced and then he offered more than 10% off his asking sale price ($3k). I decided I would drive down to inspect the truck. When I arrived Dana (the owner) informed me that he never intended to (in other words the old "bait and switch" technique and he will say anything to get you on the lot before informing you that they have no intention of accepting your offer as he did to myself- blessing in disguise as the Lexus GX470 sounded too good to be true- it is!). Carisma Auto Wholesaler intentionally disguised paint damage on side mirrors and door handles by applying cheap faux chrome Chinese overlays and who knows what is being concealed on the frame and undercarriage. I'm not sure I would even trust the odometers and advise serious inspection if considering anything here.
