I went here for a celebration dinner after a pretty big deal was closed. We arrived on time - were seated right away with our glass of bubbly and we were ready to go. The preamp up to it was just as well organized - they were prompt with communication and patient with any changes. The show was great and I think we had the best seats in the house! Everything was perfect - the food was delicious - and the entertainment was amazing! I also loved how they paid special attention to my "note" section asking the meat to be very well done - that was amazing and confirmed the amazing customer service. The entertainment factor was great although the upper right speaker when facing the performance area is a little too hot(loud as hell!) However, we were unlucky enough to have London's worst chain smoking server, Marine. This was meant to be a romantic and fun date night, but her lack of attentiveness and inability to properly place our order, let alone check on us as the courses came, made the experience right shit! Their small bottle of unfiltered sake also costs £20 when the actual cost should warrant the larger bottle of that brand which we frequently have purchased elsewhere. One major positive is that the menu does clearly label which items are veggie or gluten free friendly, which is important to me, even if my options were rather limited. If you want the atmosphere and entertainment value be sure to ask to sit in someone else's section. That being said, as someone that has lived/experienced fine dining in NYC, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas...I would not return, even if they paid me... They can thank our lousy server because everything else was decent. read more

I came here for my best friend's 18th birthday with her parents - she wanted to do something extra special and this was definitely it! We had a table booked, I don't imagine you can come here without a reservation. The food was delicious, as you'd expect it to be as it came with a price tag! Of course, the best bit is the entertainment. We went for dinner fairly early and the entertainment didn't start until later so we didn't see too much. There is a long table in the venue where the dancers walk onto, which I'm quite relieved I wasn't sat on because I wouldn't have been able to watch the show. As well as this, there were huge loops that came down from the ceiling and someone started hanging from it with ribbons. It's basically a circus show to watch while you eat delicious food. Overall they did well catering for a big group, and the service was quite good - although difficult to grab at times. If you're looking for an alternative, quirky night out with a good bar selection and tasty food, then you've come to the right place. Full of mystery, entertainment, lust, and sinful desserts, Circus offers up a delicious twist to the classic "dinner and a show". Experience acrobatics and stripteases and gravity-defying movements, all from the comfort of your dinner table. The menu is pricey (a "cheap" night will be at least £40, and that's if you're being skimpy!), but has a broad selection of food to choose from. To be fair though, you're not just paying for your meal, but also for the entertainment that comes with it. As for the food itself, it's a bit of an "asian fusion" menu, ranging from edamame to start, and new york strip loin for your main. One of the only downsides is that if you are going here with a romantic night of chit chat and banter in mind, you will be sorely let down. It is all about the show, and is therefore very loud, and very distracting. Whenever an "act" is about to start, the entire restaurant plunges into near darkness, and the music begins to blare. Good luck telling your date how great he looks in a suit, or reading the menu to order a dessert (which, by the way, are fabuloussss), because it will have to wait until the act is over. Aside from that, it's awesome. It's fun, it's enchanting, it's utterly brilliant, and it's a surefire way to have a memorable night with some friends. read more

My husband and I had 7:30pm reservations on the third night of our honeymoon. After reading other Circus reviews that afternoon, I was a bit nervous we'd be disappointed--NOT the case! We did have a bit of trouble finding it, as the outside is vastly more nondescript than the inside. We walked in to a show in progress--an impressive hula hoop act--and the shows just got better as our 2-hour experience continued (we saw 6 in all). My favorites were the blacklit hula hoop act and the dark acrobatic noir that included just the right amount of gunfire. The brachy drag number was a welcome comic relief, as well. To experience as much of the menu as possible, we ordered a smattering of small plates (each more delicious than the last), and a main course to split (completely succulent). We also tried a few of their whimsical cocktails that are stronger than they seem. All in all, a spectacular experience. read more

First off, you have to really look closely to find this place. It isn't marked from the exterior. The acts were good....not great. I think they're too short for the price you're paying for food. One of the places that really made no sense whatsoever. We went there for a friend's birthday party. We first stayed around the bar, which was OK although a bit too crowded. We were then transferred to our table and got served the most uninteresting/tasteless food I had experienced for quite a while. The show (yes, there are smalls performances happening on a "stage" inside the venue at random intervals) was balancing between awkward and boring. The final bill came to something like 50 quid per person, which I found quite ridiculous. read more

Wowza - that was an experience to remember! The food was incredible! I highly recommend the foie gras gyoza and the black cod but we ordered family style, shared and enjoyed everything we had. The entertainment was FANTASTIC especially the male acrobat rope act and the fire eater who lit her tassels on fire. The only downside is that once you hit two hours you need to leave your table so they can turn it over. I understand the need but it is annoying none the less. The service was excellent! read more

We wanted a special evening out for dinner in London....what we got was overpriced lousy food and minimal entertainment. Although our server was excellent, the rest was a disappointment. I had the crab cakes that were weird and mushy - all spice drowning out any crab flavor. My friend got the ribs that came without bones (?) - dried out, chewy meat that had sause slathered it. She actually talked the manager into taking them off her bill once she coerced him into tasting his own food. The only thing they did well were the frites and the hush puppies- well at least they could cook those The bartender could use a lesson in how to make a lemon drop as well. The entertainment was sparce, 3 acts over a 2-hour dining period. Although the concept is interesting, it just wasn't enough to justify the price of the bill. read more

A friend recommended this place while I was visiting London. Food wasn't terrible but pretty overpriced for what it was. As for the circus performances I wouldn't say it was anything worth the experience. The whole experience came off as tacky, gimmicky, and something I could see in any West Hollywood bar on a Friday night. read more

Just went to the bar, for quite expensive drinks I may add, just so we can watch the performers come out every 30 minutes. That was worth the price of those beverages. It was quite entertaining. From glancing at the menu, I would save yourself some money and just come here for a cocktail or two, nothing looked too appetizing, especially if you are vegetarian. read more

I went here for a special occasion and it was great fun although i was sat at the top table and got the back of all the performances which were facing the other way! It's definitely a restaurant with some performance rather than a performance with some food which is what i was expecting from other people's descriptions. It was dramatic and hilarious though, i'd recommend a trip if you like that type of performance. read more

Disappointing overall - bill was around £140 for two of us and we didn't even have wine, just a couple of bottles of beer each. Main feeling as I walked out was regret at all the other amazing restaurants in London we could have gone to for the same money. Decor looks sumptuous on the website gallery but it is actually quite plastic and tacky inside. Tried 4/5 of the dim sum dishes, which were ok but nothing too special. New York beef dish was nice but really not worth £30 (literally was just 6/7 mouthfuls of beef laid out on hot stones). Barrimundi was overcooked and again a really mean portion for £20; worse still, what I thought was a pastry casing turned out to be paper! No accompanying vegetables or salad to speak of (apparently you had to order these seperately) which I find astounding given the price of the mains. Best thing food-wise was the desserts, chocolate fondant and chocolate sphere were delicious though I suspect not even made in the restaurant. Wouldn't have minded all this had the entertainment been good, but I would say it was underwhelming and more like 'opportunity knocks' than a circus. I was expecting fire-eating, jugglers etc etc in our two hour slot we saw two contortionists, a rather uninspiring transvestite and a couple of tap dancers. Hopefully it's better on a weekend (we went on a Thursday night) however I will not be going back to find out I'm afraid. read more

!!!STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT IT IS HORRENDOUS!!! As a group of 8 we booked well in advance to sit on the stage table, upon arrival we were seated on a basic table and had to order from the sharing menu @ £55 per head. We waited over 25 mins before we were able to order wine and had to sit through watching the first act, a guy in an Elvis outfit spinning hoops around, whilst he was good at spinning the hoops it seemed extremely budget as were all the following acts and their costumes. The food is SHOCKING and the portion sizes are not enough to feed a cat; the quality very poor. It is quite literally tiny portions of rubbish food! One of the members of our group was vegetarian, who wasn't taken care of and was practically left starving through out the evening and were all of the group. This restaurant does not compare with any of the others in the price range, 95% of those in a much lower price bracket. The food was uninventive, tasteless, served in budget crockery and our entire group was left dissatisfied with the evening. By the time they were ready to serve dessert the waitress literally threw the dessert dishes at us, a sign that we needed to make way for the next victims. I would SERIOUSLY AVOID THIS PLACE................. IT DOES NOT HAVE A MICHELIN STAR AND I CAN GUARANTEE IT WILL NOT RECEIVE ONE. THE POT NOODLE FACTORY HAS MORE CHANCE OF RECEIVING A MICHELIN STAR. We loved this place for so many reasons: The food, the crowd, the service and the entertainment. The food was excellent. For appetizers we ordered the peppered tuna (this was so yummy we ordered two, A+), the shrimp tempura (A+) and the chicken dumpling (B-). For entrees we ordered the Sirloin on hot rocks (A+) and the Sea Bass (A). Dessert was not exciting as the dinner selections but the crowd and entertainment made up for it! When we first arrived the place was very buzzy, with the crowd adding to the general ambiance of the scene. It was loud, but in a good way to me because it meant everyone was chatting and having a great time. We were there for 2 hours and saw 3-4 bits, most of them acrobatic in nature. 4 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 1 cocktail, 2 bottles of wine and 188£ later the we were pretty happy with our experience. So if you are in London and are in need of some relaxing, carefree fun, go to Circus! read more

I have never written a view for any bar or restaurant before, but after reading some of the bad reviews I felt I had to comment. All I can say is that those who have given it a bad review are probably the type who criticise everything. I took my girlfriend there for her birthday last night (a Thursday) and we had an absolutely fantastic time. We were sat at our table from 7.30 to 10.30 and had 6 performances - one every half hour - which were great. Fire-eaters, hoop swinging, a lot of scantily clad ladies and some burlesque nipple tasseling. The food was excellent; the staff friendly and our waitress bent over backwards to please us. Would definitely go back again. And for those who thought it was pricey, you're right, but the prices are quite clear on their online menu. An excellent night out. read more
