The ground floor is a cafe area that you can grab a bite to eat such as pizza or you can just get a drink. At present they have a special festive mulled wine on offer at £4.50 also within the toilets on the 1st floor you can learn Italian whilst doing your business, it was quite funny and reminded me of an Italian language course I got years ago on cassette. If you are going to be eating in the restaurant area (down in the basement) you will be taken through a cold meat storage whereupon you will meet a butcher of which he will tell you a story/secret. Then you will be led into the restaurant area to experience the entertainment that they are laying on that night. We was firstly greeted by a newly wedded couple as the entertainment that evening (as changes often) was to do with a wedding of a mafia family. Throughout the night there is entertainment such as a magician, singers etc. and a very eccentric camp host who flirts with literally everyone as he is not fussy. He reminded me a bit of Pee Wee Herman. Sometimes though the entertainment that was acted out on stage was quite hard to see because of where we was sitting. Cocktails are served in unusual head mugs. Between each food course you are entertained by the host and different acts and even have to dance at some points at your table which the waitors and waitresses get everyone going. The food you share between all of your party there is a variety of food that is served from rissotto to pizza. The food in my opinion is not up to my standard in which I would I expect of an Italian restaurant. For example the food was not hot and not even luke warm and the custard had a very funny taste and smelt horrible. Also I felt at the start the staff was rude as they kept on making a point and issue of how long we have the table for but the funny thing is they were so slow in serving that we was still eating after our two hour slot but that was their fault. They also were not very considerate about some of my friends who could not drink and were not very helpfull in providing them with a alternate. Also the entertainment goes on until 2am in the morning but there was not an area where you could sit, relax, just have drinks and watch. However even though the food was not great and the service was not up to standard in places I would go back and eat there as the entertainment value in it's self was worth it and I would definately recommend going with a group of friends.

Drinks are on special until 8pm. Seating for dinner isn't until 8:30ish. Cocktail list is extensive and fun, and come in lovely cut-crystal glassware. We did the dinner & show ticket. We were really hungry as food didnt start until 9pm. Starters were decent, but the main vegetarian course (risotto) was like a bowl of bland soupy rice. I didn't eat more than 3 bites of it. Dessert was cheesecake and good. There are performances throughout the night, and not a bad table in the house. If you just get the "show" ticket, you will be on tall stools in the back. There was a lot of great dancing, some arial acts, and a seriously impressive magician. There were also some drunken hen parties adding to the entertainment- it was impressive how the staff kept them from disrupting things. Afterward, there was a dj in the lounge to keep the party going. Despite the terrible main course, I still thought it was a really fun night out.

Central Station is not the classiest of establishments…read more I'm sure it has a very loyal, local clientèle, but I'm afraid I won't be back. In the area with a few hours to kill, The Mrs remembers - somewhere around here is one of the oldest gay bars. Central station. Not one to miss out on a dodgy gay bar, we Yelp it and start the trek. On the approach; our negative suspicions were proved right as we saw the well worn exterior of the pub. Taking a deep breath we ventured in. On first impressions it actually looked quite nice. Deep purple painted walls and trendy wall paper. A light and airy look. The Problems started when we ordered a drink at the bar. Drinks weren't cheap and I got what I believe to be the dirtiest pint ever had the displeasure of drinking. It just tasted foul, like the lines hadn't been cleaned, ever. Everywhere on the bar and tables seemed to already be wet. Even for 8pm on a Friday night the atmosphere was lifeless with just a scattering of lone men sitting around the place. Bar flies were a staple here. As standard, there was no lock on the ladies - which was another delight. Describing itself as a 'restaurant' even going so far as putting itself on TopTable I was sceptical. I'm afraid we didn't brave the food as the menu didn't look very appetising. Now there is a club downstairs, and a pool table lives out the back so I'm sure there are better nights to go there and when there are people I'm sure its a hoot. But. No. Just. No

As a bar, it's not hip nor stylish but offers a welcome home to a variety of local community events embracing all aspects of queer and allied trade identities including regular socials for trans people, cross dressers and their admirers - if you're no comfortable with this then prepare to see your horses frightened! If you are then enjoy one of the warmest spaces in town. The hotel (perhaps more B&B) is clean but dated, with reasonable facilities and a can do attitude. They have a lovely little roof terrace and while hardly boutique, it does a great breakfast fry up and a proper cup of tea - a rare find in that big London these days.

Just the right amount of Los Angeles tack complied with minimal light and endless shelves of liquor. Plywood booths: check. Red vinyl bar stools: check. Buzzing glow of neon: check. Lots and lots and lots of whiskey: check. Juke Box: check. But the kicker? Two mounted boar heads "smoking" cigs and wearing sunglasses. Slim Jims is keepin' it classy like no other. I'm referring to the massive amounts of over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders that are strung up all across the ceiling at Slim Jim's. Oodles of them. All colours and shapes and sizes, you name it, it's there. Who doesn't appreciate a bit of brazier action? Between the three of four pints of pub-crawling beer I'd had before we landed at Slim Jim's, I was already feeling pretty good. One of their vaunted whiskey sours later and I was about done for the night. You know yellow people and alcohol, they don't tend to mix well. Friday night will find this joint rammed with folk. If they picked the correct tunes, I have a feeling it could be a right dance party in here. Don't expect to have much of a conversation over the blare of the sound system, but do expect to toss back a generous stiff drink or two. Then mosey your way down Upper Street for some late-night nosh. Slim Jim's has it going on; if I wore a bra, I could see shimmying out of it and hanging it up on their ceiling after a good night out, as well.

I used to come here every night when I was living in Angel. Its arty nonsense was a refreshing escape from social barriers of London life. Each night I would arrive about 9, alone with a sketchbook in hand, and within half an hour I would have made friends with artists, musicians, actors and television producers. Each night about 10pm, they have live music from regular bands, and jazz musicians singing their souls out. I felt completely comfortable being a girl on my own; I saw it as an education for life ;)

Well recognised for a wide mix of classic and contemporary theatre it's famous for attracting an absorbing crowd to the admirable performances. We called to book tickets for a Wednesday evening, but we were told just to come along (I'd always ring to check though as popularity varies). So, after a drink in the bar area we headed upstairs to the theatre, wine glasses in hand. We watched 'The Rape of Lucrece', a narrative poem by Shakespeare. The acting was astonishingly good and I find it really remarkable to see a performance of such quality in such an intimate space. The theatre is the size of your living room and our seats were so close to the stage that I could see the sweat on the actor's face! After you can head back down to the bar to top up your wine and rave over what you just had the real pleasure of seeing. Often you're joined in the bar with the actors themselves which shows what a nice atmosphere this place has. For the love of theatre!

The upstairs is a corner view onto a street with dark woods and leather booths, while inside an open kitchen and a low-key young crew is putting out some simple, tasty food. Mostly appetizers, pastas and some pesce and carne dishes. Not a destination, but a good spot and one of the few restaurants on the street open on a Sunday. The downstairs basement hosts a cocktail bar that was closed on the Sunday we visited. We enjoyed the feel of the place, along with a bit of montepulciano d'abruzzo, some olives, a green salad, pork belly and a toothsome risotto with zucchini and prawns. Not a bad meal, priced pretty well, and a nice setting with friendly staff. We had such a good time that we failed to notice the police inspectress inside talking to the Paesan crew. The white and red police tape line both inside and outside the restaurant were in our peripheral view the whole dinner, but once outside, we noticed that a gigantic police triangle of tape took up the entire street corner, a female inspector was stationed there, and that down on the cobblestone sidewalk, a streetful of dessicated lemon and lime wedges lay from the night before, leading us to ponder, what exactly had happened here?

The waitress was helpful and calm and the red wine warm and fruity. I'll come again for definites. There is a cocktail bar in the basement and a choice of some interesting sharing options on the main menu for groups. Prices are very reasonable and if my meal was anything to go by, the rest will be as good. I am well impressed.
