Really fun place and wicked cool interior decor. My husband's friend had her birthday party here last night and rented a room. Fun mix of pop, mainstream hip hop and 90s and '00s house music remixes. The top floor room is much too small though and gets exceptionally crowded so even though that room played hip hop we liked, didn't want to get mashed in. Free before 11 (I think?) if you get on the guest list online. The subbing is one star is bc the drink prices and volumes are inconsistent. A glass of (decent) house wine ranged from £9.75 to a little over £10 with pours seemingly up to the bartender, which really frustrated my friend. So defo pregame before you come! read more

W-wow. Charming, cheeky and gregariously Italian, 'Bunga Bunga' is a hugely welcome recent addition to Battersea Bridge Road. Currently aimed exclusively to the Thurs-Sun evening crowd, the Bunga Bunga experience evolves as the evening advances. For the first few hours it's a pizzeria, serving pretty decent thin, sourdough-based pizzas that come by the metre when more than one pizza is ordered. Then, the tables are cleared away and karaoke takes centre stage for an hour or so. Finally, Bunga Bunga becomes a club, with the bar doling out an impressive range of cocktails, as well as Peroni, Nastra Azzurro and wine. An unashamed sense of cheek and fun runs throughout the joint. 'Bunga Bunga' is of course the name given by an aspiring model to describe the 'social gatherings of choice' for Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Five of the pizzas are named after women subsequently associated with Berlusconi, the waiters have aprons with prints of Michelangelo's statute of David and the menus have basic Italian phrases for diners to learn, from setting out the Italian for "Please...", "Thank you...", "You look very beautiful" to "Would you like to see the private rooms upstairs..." (given as "Bunga Bunga?"). The decor is zany Italian. Two rusty scooters hang from the ceiling, with a somewhat swankier Martini-badged one by the door. The Italian bar staff are dressed in Gondolier outfits, complete with straw hats. The walls are filled with Italian-themed pictures, postcards and slightly bizarre stuffed boar heads, some with Gendarme hats. The staff are young, really friendly, helpful and above all enthusiastic about the place. The crowd seem to be primarily Chelsea-types, hopping across Battersea Bridge for some excitement south of the river. Overall, great to see this kind of venture in otherwise rather uninspiring Battersea Bridge Road (Draft House excluded). The knowledge that a karaoke joint in a loudly-themed Italian restaurant lies on my commute route is dangerous knowledge too. I feel that my rendition of Matt Monro's "On Days Like These" could be making its public debut rather sooner than intended.. read more

Good points: (1) They have a Eurovision Room (we were in fact there on Eurovison night) (2) One of the pizzas, which I believe to be "Italy's Fun Guy" - truffle oil, pecorino, wild mushrooms - is sensationally delicious and despite all the below I would return just to eat this again (3) The giant disco ball cocktail which managed not to be sickly sweet but was actually both fruity and refreshing and, obviously, awesome for being in a giant disco ball (although I was terrified it would tip over). Bad points: (1) Shockingly rude staff (one waitress was very nice, but there was a short bald guy wearing a suit and I think an ear piece, although maybe my memory is just imposing that to ilustrate my general sense of obnoxiousness) (2) The food was about an hour late, if not more. (3) Although I'm normally against music being too loud pre dancing time, Eurovision was actually not on loud enough to hear the songs properly! (4) As the night wore on, they let so many people into the Eurovision Room that it was literally impossible to move, which isn't much fun if you want to dance/go to the bar/got to the toilet. I was also genuinely concerned that this was a major safety hazard - I don't generally worry about fire evacuation procedures but no doubt people would have been trampled to death had anything gone wrong. I haven't been here to eat so can't comment on that aspect. However I've been twice to party and it's been some of the best nights out. It starts with the bouncer being super friendly which is unheard of. Downstairs restaurant is free to go in and turns into a bar/club after around 10pm. The bartenders are super funny and friendly, all dressed up Italian style! The decoration is absolutely priceless and if ever you get bored (which is unlikely) you can spend the evening checking it all out. The berlusconi cocktail which comes served in his actually head is hilarious and delicious. There's karaoke but they don't let the singer's voice get too loud so you mostly hear the original version rather than a drunk rendition if it..... Which no one wants to hear really. Anyway, go if you like to laugh at yourself and definitely take Italians so that you can see their shame hahaha. read more

This pizzeria has an off-handed aura about it I find amusing. The food- pizza and Italian fare- are tasty enough. The service has always been friendly and prompt. They serve decent drinks. I think the thing you have to come to expect, that a lot of people have a hard time getting over, is the unique atmosphere. It is very odd and off the wall. If you come expecting a serene, serious Italian environment you will simply be baffled. If you come in with a sense of humor- you will likely enjoy yourself. I am fond of the Karaoke as well - not so much singing myself as enjoying the jovial antics of other. It is a jolly place to de-stress, unwind and simply laugh. read more

This place was so much fun! If you plan on going, plan to be there the entire night... and book reservations weeks ahead of time. The food was surprisingly good. The pizzas were a bit too thin but were tasty. The aubergine parmigiana! Now that's the winner. The Sanviogese went down a little too smoothly that night.. If you were planning on singing, you can relax 'cuz its not open to the audience (which in many ways probably better for your ears!) Really fun music and all around festive atmosphere. I did not try the food, we went to the Eurovision room on the Eurovision night. Although we didn't have a booking (I know, I know, not really smart) they put us on the waiting list and when we came back, they let us in. The door staff was lovely and the security guy even told us there was a pub nearby where they were doing the tv contest. That was my first trip to Battersea. The birthday boy had arranged a pre-set menu that included a lot of really nice stuff. we had milanese, various salads, a lot of salami, prosciutto etc with a hot and soft focaccia, mozzarela in carrotta, shallowfried whitebait, bruschettas, etc. and then we had 4 different varieties of pizza al metro. I liked the decor of the place, a constant remind to my homecountry (there is a vespa,a lot of newspapers covers and other italian stuff) and the sense of humor that accompains it. the service is nice and at some point the staff did a nice dance around the tables, a sort of animation. At the end of the dinner there was music and we had a little dance, in the same room as the restaurant, where there is also a bar in the middle. I haven't been to the other floors, but apparently there is a cinema and private rooms / a club open during the weekend. the place is also a karaoke bar, the only disappointing thing about it is that they don't have a lot of italian songs! read more

Maybe it's just me but when I get charged £23 for a glass of wine part of me dies inside. Bunga Bunga was an interesting experience undertaken for a friends birthday a few weeks back! We ate from a set meal (£30 a head) which was fairly tasty and there was a lot of it, however, the drinks were just astronomically expensive. I've lived in London for 6 years and never encountered such expensive drinks. The decor is tacky to say the least (but of course that's the point!), the music was great and the atmosphere was reminiscent of my student days AKA drunken karaoke and mass sing-a-longs! My favourite part of the evening had to be when Maria Carey, All I want for Christmas,came blasting out of the speakers (it was June 30th) and everyone sang along as though it were December 24th. Overall it was a fun night but I felt I couldn't fully appreciate it with my credit card glaring at me from the depths of my purse. Fun, lively and unique! I went here for a friends birthday meal at 12pm, this meant we got unlimited Prosecco at the table for the next 2 hours, we had a meat course, a pizza course, and a very small dessert course... The meat was taken away before we'd finished it, (as we were waiting for more people we didn't want to eat it all), the same happened with the pizza course, the pizzas were very nice. They were long and have 4 different flavours on them. What made this place stand out was how fun the place was, the main guy in charge of the place was laughing and joking with everyone and made the place more fun. The place turned into more of a bar with a karaoke, dancing, cabaret act...at 2pm, so definitely a fun experience! For the cost my friend had paid for deposit of £100 and we had to pay around £40 on the day, can't remember the number of people but it felt like it was a tad more than we should have. read more

We booked a table for 8 & arrived to sit at a tiny, unstable table in the corner of the relatively empty room. We thought we could overlook this until the food arrived. Being a pizza place, you'd think their tables would accommodate, but this was not the case. Instead, there was barely any room for our plates and a few of us had to place our drinks on the floor or on a separate table. However, we again looked past this and moved on, since the pizza itself was pretty decent. Then, they served a long island ice tea cocktail that was without a doubt the worst attempt at this drink I have ever experienced! I ended up having to combine cinnamon, and some other mixes from other peoples drinks just to make this overpriced cocktail drinkable. Lastly, when the bill came, much confusion followed. We had ordered pizza + prosseco for 10 pounds, it was a good deal and we thought it would simplify the paying process. However, the bill was a mess, it didn't look at all like we were paying for the deals we ordered. The waiter tried to convince us that we ordered more drinks than we really did, drinks separate from the deal. So we ended up paying a lot more than any of us thought we would, it made no sense and was irritating since the occasion we were there for was special. So this place is supposed to be this... fun, cool, hipster type of place...but it's in Chelsea...Do they not know what the definition of hipster is? You would find a joint like that in say AUSTIN, TX...? or like an eclectic part of town... it's just kind of out of place...I say this only because...i had no idea what type of place it was before i showed up...my friend picked it out... (we were having a girls night out) and i showed up in a sexy black dress and heels...Yea....i was over dressed..but not really...it was ok to be over dressed because HELLO it's in the Chelsea area... anyways... It's a bunch of non-hipsters partying like hipsters...Don't get me wrong...aren't all hipsters like that anyways? =) the food is great...ambiance is very chill and fun and they have karaoke and really make it an experience~ We left after dinner.. The woman at the door greeting guests was on a power trip and ridiculously rude. She was acting like she was choosing who can enter a posh London or New York nightclub. Bunga Bunga is far from posh. The drinks weak, the stairway smelled of vomit and the bathrooms were dirty. Other than that, it was great. I was with a birthday group of 10 people and after one drink we were out of there. 0 STARS I made a Yelp account specifically to review the horrible experience I (and the rest of my group) had at Bunga Bunga Battersea. Because of some good reviews, we went for our friends' going away party, knowing full well that it was a fun, lively restaurant that turned into a club (and despite the fact that its name comes from Berlusconi's seedy underaged sex parties). We made a reservation months in advance only to be greeted at the door by a rude man barking at us about reservations... which set the tone for the rest of the evening and their roster of inconsiderate staff. Once inside the tacky, garish, piss-smelling room, we were packed in like sardines at 2 tables that were set up in an awkward L shape, meaning our group couldn't all sit together and talk (not that talking was an option as the music was far too loud). Then, after a rude woman took half of our drink orders, she disappeared for several minutes, prompting some of us to go to the dirty toilets downstairs to fill up a glass of water. When the food finally arrived, we were disappointed to find tiny appetiser portions what were average at best. The pizza - the underwhelming main event - was undercooked, cold and tasted like the deep frozen stuff from your primary school cafeteria. To top it off, their set menu did not offer a dessert, but a stupidly over-the-top float of shots topped with whipped cream. All the while, the servers were continually rude, unenthusiastic and seemed to be put out when any one of us requested another drink. If this wasn't disappointing enough, we were rudely rushed out of our seats as they had booked short back-to-back reservations. Then we got the bill. Each of us was to pay £44 PLUS drinks, meaning everyone at the table payed upwards of £70. One small glass of wine (from a bottle that will cost you £5 at the shop) cost £9 while a small bottle of peroni cost nearly £8. Don't get me started on their included service charge. After being shooed away from our tetris-like table, and with many in our group still finishing their drinks, we walked toward the dance floor and stood around whilst a solo guitar player played average covers of mid-2000s hits. Every once in a while, a staff member would shoot confetti into the air, giving this hopeless night an air of forced celebration. It is safe to say none of us will ever be going back to Bunga Bunga. Bottomless brunch is a blast! So much fun and great value for money as well. One of the only bottomless brunches in London!

Full disclosure: it's been a month since I came here for my birthday celebrations. But still worth reviewing! I brought a group of friends for the famous Bottomless Brunch on the Saturday; 11.30am sitting. 2 hours of Bottomless prosecco with mixers to make Bellinis, etc - I've seen complaints that it is hard to get refills and doesn't feel truly Bottomless, but in our experience there was no hesitation at all. The prosecco was flowing! There was also 3 courses of delicious food - antipasti boards, pizza and a cone of gelato each - the food was tasty and plentiful! I had been under the impression that the entertainment took place during the first sitting as well as the second sitting (at 2pm) but unfortunately that is not the case. We did catch the first half hour of the entertainment and it was great fun, but then we had to move on elsewhere for phase two of my celebrations. I will say that the place was crowded by the second sitting, as the 11.30am-ers sick around fit the entertainment and the tables fill up again, so maybe that is where the Bottomless struggle comes in, as waiters have a harder job getting to see to tables! For a special occasion it's definitely worth checking this brunch out; next time I'll stay for more of the entertainment too. read more

Ana is the best! She was so attentive and made us feel so welcome! They do so many fun promotions and a wild brunch, but they obsess over bdays like I do! We didn't even go there for my official bday dinner and I mentioned it in passing and Ana still had them make me a special celebration drink with fireworks :) such a fun vibe EXCELLENT PIZZA! Highly recommend if you have to entertain visitors that are looking for an upbeat and artsy vibe. And obviously MUST go for brunch but more importantly ask for Ana! read more

I've been to Bunga bunga a couple of times and never loved it because of the pushing and the slight meat market feel- which is strange for a place that is decked out quite nicely. Last night I found it has become a lot worse- every one I spoke to out of the young professionals crowd who made up the biggest portion of their target audience on previous visits (it now seems over run by over-eager kids) were deciding never to go again. The queue outside was entirely made up of "guest listers" and took an hour for us to get through, an hour and a half for our friends to get in. The security people seemed wired- extremely scary. Once inside I think I had the worst experience at a bar that I've ever had- it is SO small that you can barely move- queuing at the bar upstairs (attached to Bunga Bunga at the Eurodisco Club- or shall we say cupboard) was a battle. Drunk girls pushing harder than I've experienced anywhere else to elbow their way to the front- and then when you have your drink you have no option other than to push through the sardine tin to where ever you can find to "dance". The atmosphere was lecherous previously but last night it actually felt quite unsafe. Groups and pairs of men physically blocked my path on three occasions despite me being with my partner, and were quite insistent. I felt the general attitude from the management and security towards people would not have helped had something happened to me- which felt like a distinct possibility. The only good part of the service, the same as last time, was the taxi service, and also once you fight to the bar- the staff behind the bar are nice. At least I had such a bad time I now have an excuse to say no if anyone ever invites me back. Guys- decrease the number of people on your guest list to 25% of capacity to reduce queuing, don't let so many people in FULL STOP- reduce your capacity by half- before something happens to someone- only let more people in when you join the upstairs and the downstairs together- and TELL people what time you will be joining the upstairs and downstairs together so they can go to the damn pub and have a drink rather than waiting in line for the "guest list" and then LET THEM IN QUICKLY- an hour + queuing is not acceptable-20-30 mins is normal, fine, but more than that and you'll piss everyone off and you will lose your young professionals market and be a grubby little puke hole for kids (already happening) read more
