Normally I do not like to go eat somewhere 30 minutes before closing time, but my friends and I were all very hungry, after a night of Top Golf, and thought this place would have the quickest service, and we were right. We felt bad getting in there so late, with a group of 10, but they were very nice about it, and we tried to eat as quickly as possible. We ordered a whole bunch of different kinds of udon, as they have a whole variety from traditional to modern. I would say the broth is a bit on the thicker side, which was a bit odd for some of my friends, since they've never experienced udon broth with that consistency, but it's pretty normal, depending on where you go. The taste was there, and the noodles were perfectly cooked, which is all that really matters anyways. My favorites of dishes of the night were: * Carbonara * Purple Kari Kari Gyoza * Miso Black Glazed Cod * Soft Shell Crab Udon I'm a huge fan of udon noodles, and noodles in general, so I will definitely be back to try some other dishes. How fun and cool is this place. Nestled in the middle of two well known and larger restaurants in a strip mall, you'd almost miss it. I shouldn't say almost, you'll miss it, if you aren't looking for it... just look for the red half circle and the word Noodle and you are good. The menu is simple, but probably this is where it shines, I've tried several of the dishes and they are all darn near perfect. I'm not a huge curry fan but the curry noodle dishes are fantastic, and, especially on a fall or winter day will go down perfect. If I had to fault the place at all it is that several of the noodle dishes are all the same base taste. I wish they had mixed in some more flavors on the menu. But again, probably what makes this place shine is that the simple menu delivers. The ambiance is chill, contemporary, fun. Wait staff all friendly and readily available if you need anything. Went here for lunch on a rainy day. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time and the food did not disappoint. It's located in a strip mall in Roswell, right beside Foundation Eatery. It's a little tricky finding this place. Their sign is really small. The interior is very minimalist but really nice. Felt very light and airy. Our server was nice but she couldn't answer any of our questions. She seemed very confused. But she could be new and seemed very young. Our food came out pretty quick. I ordered the shrimp tempura udon and my friend ordered the vegetable udon. The broth was very light but had great flavor. And the udon was cooked to perfection. I was very impressed with how the shrimp tempura was battered and cooked. Very traditional compared to other Japanese restaurants. I definitely recommend this place and will be back. I've been holding off on my Circle Noodle review because I've been here twice. The first time was when they were still on their soft opening and when they couldn't accept credit cards. They were so kind to not charge us because we didn't have enough cash on us to pay. You could say they already guaranteed my return because of their graciousness. We recently went back and got a chance to try more udon on their menu, so here's a breakdown of everything I've had at Circle Noodle. Agedashi Tofu - soft tofu fried with a light better and served with soy. This was simple and delicious. Kakiage Seafood Tempura - Most people are familiar with tempura battered vegetables or shrimp. This was a little different because the veggies (onion, shrimp, broccoli) are chopped up, mixed, tempura dipped and fried altogether. So it comes like a tempura ball and reminds me so much of a pajeon (Korean seafood pancake). This was pretty good and it does taste much different from your typical tempura. Nabeyaki Udon - I had this on my first trip and while everything about the noodles were good, it was just too plain for me. Carbonara - This was pretty amazing. They do put a raw egg in it, but there is a lot of sauce in it already, so mixing it up is quite fun. I love pasta and this is almost like an Italian dish except the udon is much softer compared to an al dente pasta. I wish the noodle was harder, which might not work with udon, but I also wish they were some crunchier element to the dish to give it more 'bite.' Maybe if the sliced pork in it were crispier? Curry Udon - I preferred this over the Carbonara because the udon is in a broth of watered down curry. I grew up eating those boxed curry brick mixes, so this mirrored it but with udon. Probably one of the better Modern Udon options on their menu. Circle Noodle Bukkake Udon - I know, I know: "bukkake." What kind of restaurant includes "bukkake" in the name of their cold udon dish? This dish contains some chopped okra in it, so there's this sticky consistency to the mixed noodles. This particular dish also has some spiciness to it, so that contrast of cold, slimy noodles with heat is weird but good. Green Tea Milkshake - This was kind of small, so I imagine it was very rich. There's actually bits of red bean inside it. This milkshake tasted like it was blended more with whipped cream or Cool Whip but you could still taste some matcha in it. I'd get this again. Circle Noodle is a bit hard to find, but just know that it sits between Foundation Social Eatery and the nail salon in the shopping center. Their original sister restaurant Circle Sushi tends to the same thing about not having a huge sign. The space is small and is at full capacity at about 30 seats, so be prepared to sit fairly close to your neighbors. I do love how humble the restaurant feels - very "mom and pop" because there's a TV and a fan running in the restaurant. I personally love this place and will be back. Good and bad I'm not closer to it. We came during the week right after the lunch rush (1:30ish). Weekday lunch is from 11a-2:30p. This place is fairly small but not cramped. The server greeted us and was very nice. When I saw the menu online I scanned the menu and noticed udon and carbonara so I was thinking it would be more fusion than asian. I rarely have udon noodles so I'm definitely a novice but this is mainly a udon noodle shoppe, I was happily surprised. We ordered: Curry Udon Cold Bukkake Asian Style Udon Assorted Tempura Curry Udon - Grandma ordered this and it was amazing! Love bowl of happiness. Its not a huge bowl but its dense. The noodles were really good, the broth had a good curry flavor, not spicy, and the meat was very tender. It was a very filling soup (my toddler and I finished it off for Grandma). I will be ordering this one again. Cold Bukkake Asian Style Udon - These were perfect for me on a hot summer day. No soup, cold broth on the side, cold udon noodles, crispy tempura flakes for texture, red pepper (I wouldn't consider it spicy though), okra, and radish. This was so good and yummy. I've been thinking about it since I left and wondering when I should go back and introduce it to my husband. Assorted Tempura - ordered this for my toddler. She's going through some eating stage and I never know what she will eat. She didn't eat this and ate Grandma's noodles instead. We ate them and they were lightly fried and not too oily. I don't really order tempura so I was happy it was pretty tasty. The gentleman and I assume was a owner was concerned there was an issue with the udon because I was picking through it and taking things out... I was picking out things for my toddler. He came over, "is everything ok, something wrong." He checked on us a few times and also was helping a lady who walked in and was thinking about takeout. I'm a BIG fan of Circle Sushi. I've been dining at Circle Sushi for over 10 years. I had no idea they were opening a noodle shop but when I saw the business logo of Circle Noodle I would've bet a year of noodles that it was from the owners of Circle Sushi. So first things first, let's establish that I love Noodles. I'm serious. In any shape or form, I'm a big fan of noodles/pasta from all cultures. We were trying to decide where to go for dinner and we came to Circle Noodle in Roswell. It's a bit hard to find since they don't have a big sign on top of their restaurant. Circle Noodle is right next to Foundation Social Eatery, another big favorite of mine. The only way you can tell the restaurant next door belongs to Circle Noodle is when you get close enough to see the business name on the door. We arrived an hour before closing time (they close at 9 pm on Friday...a little too early in my opinion) and we were the only customers inside. The staff was great! They were friendly and prompt with drinks and menu, and made sure we had any questions about the menu answered. Then all of a sudden group after group started coming in. The restaurant is pretty small but totally my vibe in style. They have subway tiles along the kitchen area and wall and beautiful yet minimal artwork and decor throughout the small dining area. Very clean too including bathrooms. Ok, so by now the restaurant is pretty full. I think by the time we left there was only 1 booth and one table left available. This place would be tough to bring a big party but it totally adds to the charm of this place. Now onto the food! appetizers -hamachi kami- good stuff. Definitely spritz some of the lemon slices that comes with it. -kari kari Gyoza- beautiful handmade gyoza. I'm serious. When you flip them over each gyoza you'll see it's perfectly made. It's filled with beef and purple cabbage. I highly recommend it. Use the sauce they give you with it. -nabeyaki udon- comes in a beautiful clay pot. It's hot in temperature so be careful. Clean broth and udon noddles were cooked to perfection. Comes with a poached egg in it. -kakuni udon- comes with thick pieces of long pork belly. In the beginning the broth felt thick and kind of honey/syrupy- like but by the end I really really enjoyed this dish/bowl. Great depth flavor in the broth and again noodles were cooked perfectly. I like the spinach that came with it. The pork belly was good too. -green tea milkshake- OMG! So good!! There used to be a Japanese bookstore in Marietta years and years ago that served the best green tea latte smoothie and the one from Circle Noodle made me feel like I reunited with my first love. So yummy. Wish it came in a bigger cup/portion though. -curry udon- if you're a fan of curry like I am, get this. -carbonara- beautiful dish and very flavorful! I recommend this. Ordered the Nabeyaki Udon- $13 w/o tax, it comes with a varieties of tempura (2 shrimps, 1 okra, 1 sweet potato,1 slice pumpkin). That is some seriously good tempura, its light and crispy! The noodles has a nice chewy texture to it, soaking in a piping hot NO MSG broth- as told by owner, accompanied with an onsen egg - supply every 10 days by a farm from North GA- also told by owner, and some spinach and shiitake mushroom. The owner is a friendly middle aged Japanese man, he keeps checking on us and everyone else. It makes you feel welcome:) We ended the meal with a green tea milkshake.. Seems like every Tom, Dick, and Harry is opening Ramen restaurants all over the city these days. Do we really need another Japanese noodle place? Heck yeah! when the food is that good. Besides, they serve Udon, not Ramen...at least for the time being. We are glad to have discovered this gem. In case you're curious, yes, Circle Noodle is affiliated with Circle Sushi, one of the best Sushi restaurants in Atlanta. We ordered the following: Agedashi Tofu, Carbonara, Niku Udon, and Green Tea Shake. Here is how each dish fared: Agedashi tofu - Nice flavor. The exterior is (relatively) crunchy. I only wish the tofu is softer. 4 Stars. Carbonara - Circle Noodle's take on Carbonara using udon noodle. The sauce is soupier (not as thick), resulting in a lighter version of a delicious dish. They also incorporate shemeji mushroom, which provides different texture. The highlight of the dish is the bacon - not just any bacon, but Patak bacon (https://www.yelp.com/biz/patak-meat-products-austell). I've heard how good Patak's products are for years and finally get to try it. The bacon is smoky and just the right saltiness. My only complain is my egg is slightly under cooked (egg white is still partially clear). I LOVE IT!! 5 + 1 bonus Stars Niku Udon - The broth is clear and light, but surprisingly flavorful. It wasn't just salty, but flavor that "embedded" deep in the broth. When wife finished her noodle, I picked up the bowl and drank every single drop of that broth. It was that good. 5 Star. Green Tea Shake - Although the menu says the shakes are coming soon, they are actually serving it. Usually, I'm not crazy about 1. Green Tea drinks 2. Milk shake, but somehow we ordered the shake. Gosh!! it was so good. They blend some red beans in the shake, which gives it another layer of flavor and texture. 5 Star. Our (actually just my wife) only dislike about this place is not food related, it is the art work on the wall. Wife said she feels like having trypophobia when starring at it.....I *clear throat* disagree. But if anyone truly has trypophobia, this serves as a heads up. Oh, we also want to give a shout out to the staff for their excellent service. Our server offered to bring us extra bowl for sharing, black pepper for the carbonara...etc even before we requested it. We came in on a Saturday for lunch the first time. The first impression was solidified with an extremely friendly server. She asked if we've been here before which we have not. She then took the time to explain the options. She brought out some tempura sauce and this amazing home made pepper oil. We had onion and vegetable kakiage as an appetizer which were great. I had the kakuni udon and my wife and son had the Nabeyaki. Both were awesome but for me the Kakuni had later after layer of flavor creating one of the best (if not the best) broth I've ever had. Came here on a rainy day because I've been wanting to try this joint and satisfy some cravings, but was met with disappointment for the most part. Circle is a small establishment, with clean and quaint decor. It's between Foundation Social Eatery and a nail shop. Purple Gyoza - They were mushy and while the purple (Yam maybe?) skin was interesting, the taste was underwhelming probably due to excess water inside the gyoza, and they were not fried long enough to give it a nice crisp on one side. Squid Tempura - The squid was the most tasteless, they were also wet and not fried long enough. When I bit into it some water oozed out of the squid, I don't want to shock you, but the batter was also tasteless. At this point I was afraid of how the rest of my meal was going to turn out, I had to apply lots of chili to give the squid any taste whatsoever. The tentsuyu was also bland and with barely any dashi, it tasted like a watered down shoyu. This was a triple bland special. Shrimp Tempura - This was a little better than the squid in terms of how they were fried, but it was equally as bland as the squid. Similarly, the tempura dipping sauce was the same, and I had to resort to the chili to give it any flavor. Carbonara - I enjoyed this dish the most as it had flavor, the sauce was thick and flavorful. The udon was cooked well, the egg was perfect, but the ingredients were very sparing, there were a few pieces of bacon, and i'm pretty sure the parmesan cheese came from a dominos or pizza hut packet. Chicken Curry Udon - Noodles were cooked well, but the curry was underwhelming, it lacked a thickness to it compared to other places that serve japanese curry and towards the end of the meal, the bottom of the bowl had more water mixed with the curry, huge sign that the udon was not drained properly. If I mixed it more initially, you guessed it, my bowl would've been watered down more. There was also a piece of plastic in my bowl, lady was kind to replace it, and I try not to waste food so I took it to go. Service was excellent for the most part, but throughout the whole meal I had to ask for extra cheese and chili so many times as I was trying to give the food some flavor. For the price/ingredients/taste there are much better alternatives elsewhere like Shoya, Jinya, Hajime, Wagaya. No doubt the carbonara was excellent, but if the udon substitute was the only driving factor of this "fusion" dish, you'll find better alternatives with quality/more ingredients for $14 elsewhere. read more

Came through late on a Sunday evening to feed my noodle craving. I've been a patron of Circle Sushi, which I love and it's conveniently down the street from home. Was pretty excited after reading the reviews to try out this place. Got the stable, Nabeyaki udon with the tempura veggies and the gyozas. Fantastic combination of flavors! The gyozas are cool not only because they are PURPLE, but the delightful crispy parts around each of the dumplings. As for the udon noodles, the flavors are on point. The broth is balanced and not too salty. Love the chili seasoning they give to add some heat, which I like. Lastly, the tempura was perfectly cooked. Always happy to see another noodle place open up. As others have noted, it's hard to find even if you're actively looking for the restaurant. I hope they plan to put a sign on the building but for now, you have to look for the red C on the window. It's directly to the right of Foundation Social Eatery. We had a party of four adults and one child. I tried the Nabeyaki Udon ($12) consisting of noodle soup in a clay pot with chicken, vegetables and tempura. My wife had the Niku Udon ($11) consisting of noodle soup with pork belly. The table also shared an order of the Miso Glazed Black Cod ($16). The others in our party tried the Kakuni Udon ($12) consisting of noodle soup and braised pork belly. Everyone liked their udon dishes. I eat a lot of udon but I can't say I'm an udon expert. In the Niku Udon, the pork belly looked like thinly sliced pork and didn't feel fatty at all. And the noodles were cooked just right. I'd gladly re-order either of the dishes we tried. The Miso Glazed Black Cod turned out to be the highlight of the meal. It was tender, flaky, and full of flavor. The portion was small (for $16) and it wasn't served with rice or noodles...just the fish. But the taste was amazing. The menu states that Tokyo Ramen and Spicy Miso Ramen are Coming Soon. Really enjoyed our meal tonight. Started with pot stickers(purple Gyoza). I had the Nabeyaki udon. This comes with assorted tempura. The broth was delicious as were the noodles and tempura. My wife had noodles carbonara which is their signature dish. Udon with Parmesan, bacon, mushrooms and eggs on top. She loved it. We finished up with a green tea shake. They always change their hours. My daughter loves the kakuni udon, but here lately, we can't ever get it for her. The last time we tried to call and place a pick up order, they hung up on us. My husband called them back, and they said that they were closed, so that's why they hung up on us. All they had to do was say so instead of just hanging up on us. There is a lady who works there who always seems to be trying to get the customers (us at least) to give her money for her car repairs. She is always lamenting about needing to replace the transmission in her car, but when she described what her car was doing to my husband, he told her that it was not the transmission. She kept insisting it is, and kept reiterating how expensive the repairs would be. We don't like being guilted into leaving a bigger tip. Every time I'm on a business trip I try to support the local businesses, you can always visit the chains when you are back home... That being said, I always use the "nearby" feature of Yelp. Like some of the other users comments, I agree this is a little bit harder to find as this restaurant does not have a huge sign up above like the rest of the restaurants and shops... Simply a sign on their large front window... Once indoors I was very, very comfortable! I was told because of the open kitchen they have a lot of circulation with the fans, I was completely okay with this! Before even being greeted by a server, they quickly grabbed a very cold carafe of cold filtered water and brought me an iced glass. So many different selections of udon noodle choices, but I found a really good one! Dinner was served in a clay pot and piping hot! I also use the suggestion of another user who said to get the green tea shake, great suggestion! I'm from Scottsdale, AZ, what if work sends me out here again, I will definitely be making this a hotspot! East Roswell has needed a place like this for a long time. The place is little-- only eight tables, so I fully expect this to be a hard to get in to place as the word gets out. Holy smokes, was the food incredible. My son ordered the traditional Kake Udon ($5.50) and added wakame seaweed ($1.00). He's six but is an Asian food lover. He says "these are the best noodles I've ever had in my whole life, ever!". I ordered the Kakuni (Berkshire Kurobuta pork) Udon ($12) and I also said something similar upon my first bites. The noodles were the perfect texture, the flavors were so comforting, and if I could figure out how to curl up and take a nap in this bowl of soup I would. Trust me when I say that it was $12 well spent, even if only for a bowl of soup! We may have just found our new favorite restaurant. We will be back! This restaurant is my go to when I have absolutely no appetite or want something comforting. I love to start with the purple dumplings which has purple cabbage filling. The udon that is my favorite is the nabeyaki udon because it also comes with a side of tempura which included 2 shrimp, 2 okra and sweet potato or yams. The broth is light and clean and easy to digest filled with veggies like mushroom and chicken. It is such a satisfying meal! This is a great casual place in Roswell. Very unassuming yet very nice. My first noodle house experience. Apparently it's all udon. And the hostess said the broth is made out of seafood. There are vegetarian options- but with seafood broth, it might not be okay for the purist! The food itself was awesome. Broth was yum. Though maneuvering with chopsticks was a struggle for me. This little space is next door to another favorite of ours. (see photo) We don't eat out often as there are too many dietary requirements that can not be met by most restaurants. We enjoyed the experience overall, but we went during a very slow time. The "Udon" (correction edit) was "okay" hence a point removed. You really have to know what you're asking for and have some basic knowledge of Japanese (correction edit) foods. The Soup was a bit bland - heavy on the noodles - light on spice, and additionals. Go for a couple of the appetizers and split a soup (if there are 2 of you) Make sure you ask questions and be specific with your needs. They are pretty good at preparing it the way you want it. For the first time in a long time, I was genuinely surprised by a meal. Tucked away in an adorable shopping center in north Roswell sits Circle Noodle. The interior design is quaint and tasteful. Good lighting. The perfect size in my opinion. Small but can accommodate a good number of diners. Every dish was so bright and tasty. None of the dishes we tried had the same flavor, each was unique in its own way! The udon Carbonera was creamy, full of flavor, and an exciting play on a classic Italian dish. Not what one would expect from an udon noodle bowl! The gyoza is visually stunning and bursting with umami flavor. A must try. Every dish was plated with intention. I love this place. Earlier this week, I picked up the Tempura udon and brought it home for my wife and I. We both loved it! Today, my wife asked if we could go there for lunch. We added the dumpling appetizer, which was also excellent. I trust it won't be long before we go back again to try their cold udon. Usually, I'm good about taking and posting pictures, but we were so hungry that we dove the food as soon as it arrived. The only suggestion to someone new is to check their hours before going. The first time we tried to go, it was 2:30 pm and they were closed between lunch and dinner. Otherwise, we recommend the place highly. read more

Great little spot for udon noodles. My favorites are the Nebiyaki and Kukuni udon. The salmon and yellow tail cheek are amazing yet kinda small and expensive. It is food cooked to order, so expect to wait about 20-30 mins total. Get an appetizer quickly. Their gyoza and tempura is good for that while you wait. The only inconsistency I can say about this place is its times of operation, the friendliness of staff, and overall atmosphere. The greeting at the door or over the phone is quite listfull and not as friendly or energetic. Don't expect bouncy personalities. Overall great food with medium-higher price and small dining area. Better for more intimate party of 2-4 people but no more. Again, staff just needs to smile and be more friendly in my opinion. read more

They seem to be open only intermittently. It's Saturday night at 6:38pm and they're closed. It's annoying to drive over there for food during their business hours to find them closed. This happens quite often. read more

Had lunch here today. It was cold and wet outside, so some noodle soup sounded amazing. As soon as we walked into the door we were greeted and sat. The server explained the different types of soups to me and told me the popular ones, so I decided on the Kakuni udon. It is a pork-based soup with very tender pork belly. It was so good! I will be back to try their other food! read more

Let's get one thing straight. The udon was good, and that's about it. The purple dumplings looked pretty, nice presentation, but the taste was just meh. I've definitely had better dumplings. The restaurant was tiny, decor was simple. Although I enjoyed the udon, it's not really worth the drive and a smidge overpriced. read more
