I ordered the combo meal with catfish and shrimp. My meal came with a wonderful piece of hair in it which they politely returned to replace it. When they returned I feel like I got the same meal with the hair removed as my shrimp was cold and fish half cooked. Then I had to wait 5-7 minutes for the waitress to come back with shrimp and tarter sauce as she stood at the bar on her cellphone looking at text or reading something. I won't be back. read more

Passing through East Texas? You HAVE to stop here. A cool little shack from the outside, you order your food from a window and go sit in the dining room in the back. The dining room is open air ventilated with a cooling thingy in the middle and you sit on long bench tables. We started with two pounds of peel-n-eat shrimp--goodness, I could've eaten them for days. I ordered the catfish and shrimp combo, and I always love when places like these never seem to count the number of catfish strips, my meal was HUGE. Catfish was amazing, shrimp was awesome, fries were okay (not a big fan of fries in general). They have a cooler of beer which you can take one if you make a cash donation or BYO. If you are in the area and have your big girl panties on you have to stop in to this little, unassuming shack on the back roads of East Texas. I got a catfish po-boy and marinated mushrooms on the side, had a little shock when the man in the window said $17.85 but a good po-boy is worth it. I waited in my car (I was getting to go) for about 6 or 7 minutes. What I got was a GIANT Styrofoam container with a sandwich that was about 9 inches long and a ton of fries. The marinated mushrooms were in a tied up grocery bag. Everything was piping hot. The sandwich was the best po-boy I've every had in my life....including eating millions in New Orleans! The bread was perfect, the catfish was clean and fried with cornmeal in the coating, crispy around the edges like a catfish crackling. There was about 5 or 6 fillets on there, plenty and perfect. The tomatoes on this sandwich had to have been home grown, freshly sliced, thickish and ripe. Fresh iceburg lettuce and a tartar sauce and that was it. Simple, perfect, fresh. Many many restaurants could take a lesson from these guys. Take good ingredients, don't try to reinvent the wheel, just put them together and serve it fresh. The fries were standard, I thought a sprinkling of Cajun seasoning would have made them right up there with the perfect sandwich they were served with. The marinated mushrooms were okay. It was hard to get excited about them when the sandwich was seriously so superior. I probably would opt for hushpuppies next time. I wish I lived closer, I wish I had gotten some seafood to bring home. They sell fresh seafood out the side door. I bet their peel and eat are good and their crawfish boil too. Let me start off by saying, I truly love dives and that sways my opinion a lot. :) This place has the most amazing food, I have not had anything here that I didn't care for... The stuffed shrimp aren't my favorite only because the bacon isn't crunchy or bacon-like because it is battered and deep fried vs grilled or baked. (Please Please make some like this for me!!!). Other than that, the craw fish, catfish, shrimp and crab are out of site good. I always make it a point to ask for anything I order to be extra spicy but that is just my preference. I visit my parents about once a month and always try to make it here when I am visiting. My favorites have to be the fried shrimp and the catfish. Now don't get me wrong their craw fish is out of sight good but I'm not one for sucking the brains and organs out, so I really don't get my moneys worth. If you are like me about craw fish you should try their fried craw fish tails! Wow Wow Wow!!! The service is a bit spotty but go into this place with the mindset that you are going to be here hanging out and having a good time for quite a while and you won't be dissapointed, this is definitely not fast food. I was awestruck the first time I ate here but recently the last 4 times visiting, it has become progressively harder to find parking (and on one occasion) had to turn around and go back because of that very issue. Crawfish have got smaller and smaller each time I order them from here. I'm not sure what's going on with these guys or their future plans on customer dining experience and consistency. This place is about a 30 minute drive out from where I live but we always go here when we want some crawfish or oyster. The oysters always taste really fresh. I find that the crawfish is way too salty. If possible we ask for the seasoning on the side. The fried catfish was very good. My dad likes to come here to buy a bagful of live oysters to bring home and shuck himself or crawfish. It's definitely worth the drive. read more

Our waitress was the worst waitress on the face of the earth.. took her FOREVER to even take our order and then whenever we asked for anything her answer was "wait a minute". Would have gotten her name but she wasn't even around long enough or frequent enough for me to even do that. Told the manager and his answer was "she is new she has only been here two months". Needless to say she got no tip. I had to pay our bill by going up to the bar to pay after waiting 45 mins for our tab. Like I said. They are called Circle M Crawfish yet they didn't have crawfish....the waitress said they have been out for about 2 weeks. They should notate that on their website. Started off with eating crackers while waiting for our food - and The crackers were stale. The waitresses all had no smiles on their faces and the food was just ok - nothing to brag about or come back for. The couple next to us ordered boiled shrimp and told the waitress that it was raw. This whole experience was absolutely awful. The food was not anything I would consider "good." There were 6 in our party and we ordered an assortment of things- none of which were tasty. One of us ordered chicken fingers and found an extremely long blonde/gray hair actually fried in to the chicken batter. The flies were so numerous- we couldn't keep them off our food or our bodies and the waitress was rude and not helpful. The other wait staff were dressed slovenly and couldn't do their jobs for the many smoke breaks they kept taking. I know a lot of people really love circle m, but all I can say is they need to get out more. Go somewhere that actually has good food so you can tell that this is NOT. The whole thing was just gross. Good food, lousy service, warm beer and loud PA. Not a real dining experience. The atmosphere seems to lend itself to a party crowd, not a dining crowd. Conversation is almost impossible with the music. Of course going in, we knew there was no air conditioning and ordered a cold beer (wrong the beer was almost room temperature on arrival and we sent it back} The atmosphere is supposed to be patio fun, I think, but when your beer arrives warm to start with, you can imagine what it would be like in a few minutes with no air conditioning. I have been to this place when Rodney was running it and none of this would have happened. He greeted people and came by the tables to see if everything is good. I know they are busy now playing on Rodney's reputation but that friendly small business service is gone. I wish this business much success, as it is a famous E.Texas stop, but boy things have changed. read more

This place has been my favorite for years up till now. The service is bad! They've upgraded a whole lot which is good but as we went today they were overflowing with customers. They put is in the waiting room for about 20 mins. Then they sat us, everything was going fine up till the fact that they sat a group of 10 next to us that they even ended up sitting on our table. Good food- I had the grilled chicken/baked potato salad, was great! My husband had the catfish+shrimp combo. He said the catfish was really delicious and the shrimp were large and fan-tailed. Just went there for the first time and it was really delicious. I got the crawfish which was amazing and my wife got the blackened chicken which had a lot of flavor. Everything that was ordered looked and tasted really good. The staff was friendly and the food came out really quick. First we drove an hour to see what Circle M has to offer. Sorry to say with all the good reviews this place was a "HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT" Not only is the food average but the place is a substandard structure with less than stellar cleanliness. How about dumping your food on a round serving tray with no paper liner YUCK or all those dirty sticky squeeze bottles your ketchup or tartar sauce is in and I mean Dirty Sticky. And just to make you feel good the plastic top picnic tables your seated at look like they haven't had more that a buss persons dirty rag wiped across the them in months. No thanks!!! Secondly we went on a Saturday night and they had a $2.00 person cover charge for the blues band. We got there at 6:15 ate and left at 6:44 and not one note was played by the band. When leaving I told a door attendant that the cover charge was a little deceptive cause no music was played he then told us the music didn't start till 7:00. I objected at the lack of full disclosure when we arrived and then he said something rather profound "then don't come back if you don't like it". Humm now what a thoughtful suggestion. I think he's right! In summary I suggest Dudley's in Longview now there a Cajun cafe that's clean and the food is authentic and incredibly wonderful and it a short drive away. . read more

THIS IS MY REVIEW FOR CIRCLE M CRAWFISH IN BIG SANDY, TX........We have been eating at Circle M for 20 years. From before we had kids...to being a family of 7 & to bringing our grandchildren. When Randy owned the restaurant, it was worth our 45 min drive & our time. But as of tonight...we WILL NOT be back EVER. This was our 3rd time to give the new owner & the new more expensive...less quality & quantity Circle M restaurant a chance & new owner Luke Parrish certainly did disappoint! 1st time going with new owner everything was the same as always..fresh crawfish, big portions of catfish, huge fried shrimp but boy did things change!! 2nd time we went new higher prices...much less food!! 3rd time back, poor quality crawfish, even LESS food for a higher price than we've ever paid! And when we told our waitress about the rotten crawfish she called owner Luke Parrish & to our surprise when he came over & asked what the problem was, we told him rotten crawfish that were obviously dead before being cooked & his words were "that is the best I can do for you...You can eat those you have or I can go get some just the same. We asked for new ones. 10 min later he returns w another platter (we thought) and puts it on the table & walks away. We eat a few & agree..still terrible & bad. We tell our waitress & she says she'll tell the owner. 30min later after we're finished w the fried foods & crawfish & trash had already been thrown out...here comes owner Luke Parrish asking what the problem was??...we informed him we still weren't happy w the crawfish & he asked "Where is it!?" Our waitress had thrown everything away...he asks WHAT TRASH CAN? We were like Seriously...? He asked "Was the 2nd tray worse??" We told him yes..there were more dead & rotten crawfish than the 1st tray. He said that's Funny..cause I brought you the same exact tray..We were completely dumbfounded!!! To give our time & business to a restaurant for 20 years & in less than 3 visits with a new owner, low quality food, and much smaller portions & higher prices & to top it all off, the complete disrespect & rudeness of the owner completely ruined our experience for the very last time. We are very disappointed in the way we were treated on top of the terrible food. Take it from us...we will give our business to Salt Lickers in Grand Saline from now on...and I'm sure what Luke Parrish bought as a 20 year thriving restaurant NOW with the poor quality food, high prices & hateful service..Circle M will one day be CLOSED for business. read more

Horrific service!!!! Our order was wrong, not once but twice, and this spanned over 30 minutes. The first ticket they brought still had all of the orders that were never brought to our table. We then Spoke with the "manager" and she sent our original waitress over with the corrected ticket, in my opinion the manager should have brought it herself. We were never upset with the original waitress until she asked us " if we have money to pay." At least the crawfish had good flavour and were hot, too bad nobody else got to eat. Delicious! I was traveling from Metro Detroit back to the Fort Hood area and came across this joint. Starving and defiantly in the mood for some fried Oysters. The plate for about $12 came w/French fries (subbed Corn & lil red potatoes no extra charge) and a roll. Twelve plump oysters were the joy of my day! They are located off of I-155 S. Most people go here for the crawfish but I prefer to go for the boiled shrimp. No real reason to every go to Big Sandy other than to go to this place. The crowd is diverse and can be a little chaotic but it's fun atmosphere with great shrimp and catfish. read more
