I was impressed to learn that licensed 16-year-olds can drive the adult karts..neat and a little scary! They offer a private room, though note that private events aren't booked on weekends and reservations aren't taken. However, if it's not busy, the private room is often available. Also, any racer under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian 24 hours in advance. The day of the party, we arrived early since it's first-come, first-served. The ladies at the counter were friendly and set us up in the private room, which was perfect for our group of twelve 16-year-olds. The space is roomy, has AV capabilities, and features a huge window overlooking the track. There's even an order window in the room for added convenience! The food options exceeded my expectations as well--the menu is larger than I expected, and the pizzas and tater tots we ordered were pretty tasty. We'll definitely be back. Such a great experience!

I was concerned about it being a chaotic experience with such a large group of kids (15), but Paul was quite the showman and very engaging. He had their full attention the entire time. I loved seeing how a positive peer influence could get someone who was fearful of a snake or tarantula to engage with the animal and overcome those fears. My mother who has always had an irrational fear of snakes was able to pet the boa and she couldn't stop talking about it the rest of the day. That was so huge for her. My anxiety started long before we even arrived. Ironically, when we got there, there was an ambulance outside the warehouse (real one, not part of the show), which definitely didn't help my nerves! Turns out, the person had just overheated, but what a first impression, right?! The line outside wasn't bad at all--maybe a 10 minute wait. But once inside, we went down a flight of stairs, and that's where the real line started. After admission, we waited about 30 minutes. It was HOT down there, so I had to leave the line to grab a bottle of water. But once we got to the front, they let groups in individually. There were 7 of us, so we didn't have anyone else with our group. The haunt itself was a mix of 4-5 different sections, and we got through in about 30-40 minutes. Honestly, I wasn't as scared as I thought I'd be--though my anxiety prior was definitely scarier than the haunt itself! I'll say this is probably one of the most kid-friendly haunted houses I've seen (there were a lot of young kids there). It didn't have as many jump scares as I was expecting, which made me wonder if they were short staffed or if that is always how it is. Overall, we had a fun time with friends and enjoyed the experience. If you're looking for something not too intense but still fun, I'd recommend it! For the kids or kids at heart, they have snow cones, cotton candy, and dippin dots! The biggest complaint I have for this place is that many fans smoke in the stands and it's hard to get away from the smell. I wish they would ban smoking. Also be prepared to hear some foul language as the fans are really invested into the races. If you can handle those few bad things, come on out for family fun at the Indianapolis Speedrome

It's always exciting as the season approaches to see the official vehicles milling about Virginia Ave! I don't know much about the office, but the lobby looks cool and is conveniently located. When I had to go to the office to pick up a packet for one of the miler series races, it was quick and convenient. Parking in these two blocks are tough so if weather allows, I suggest walking, taking a bus to the nearby Bus Terminal, or biking (nearest bikeshare stations are at city market, maryland and Pennsylvania, and probably others within a few blocks) They run the Indy 500 Princess program, the miler series and mini marathon, the snakepit ball and the 500 festival parade. For all of these events there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer as well. A great organization that is supporting the key defining international event of Indianapolis.

There are several things wrong with this organization at the moment regarding money…read more There are over 19,000 participants in the Indy Mini 13.1 race every year. It's around $90.00 to sign up for the race. So in that alone, the organization makes 1.7 million dollars for this race. This does not even include any of the miler series and the cost of those races (3 miler, 5 miler, 10 miler) or sponsors that may be giving this organization money. Yet the organization ONLY gives out $2,000 to first place. This means NO MONEY is given to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th place, which every other major race in the country at least does (they do offer $1,000 to the runners who run a certain time, but only the winners of the race hit that time last year). The lack of prize purse makes this race way less competitive on the front end for elite athletes. When COVID-19 statements came out, the organization did not even mention giving back money for the 10-miler series that was canceled, it was not even an option. They switched everyone's races over to a "virtual race". This is unacceptable because people did not sign up for a "virtual race" and were not offered there money back as an option if they did not want to take part in the "virtual race". If I'm wrong about this, please indulge me 500 Festival.
