Wow. The legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I came here basically just thinking I would look around a bit. But once I got here, I really wanted to go to the museum lol. I wasn't here for any event, but when I got here, there were some cars on the track. Pretty cool to see! I was mesmerized at just how large this place was and just thinking about all the history that happened here. Definitely recommend a visit, especially if you're a tourist visiting Indianapolis from out of town. Even if there's not an event going on. Just really cool to stop by and take a look.

Attending the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was a very memorable event. We were part of a big group and were shuttled to the race from our hotel just a few miles away. The entire city's energy was electric on race day and we felt it the moment we stepped out of the hotel. It wasn't just a race for Indy, it was a cultural moment. The energy intensified once we arrived on the grounds. There's just something about being surrounded by hundreds and thousands of fans all united by a shared love for racing, tradition, and adrenaline. For an event of this size, it was well-managed for the most part. We had a hospitality section right across from the impressive pagoda. We had easy access to bathrooms and were close enough to some pre-race action. Our seats were between turn 3 and 4, which is a HIKE from the hospitality area. Like most people say, arrive early so you don't miss out on anything. We couldn't see the flags (except on the screens), but we did have a pretty good view of The Snake Pit. We were tempted to explore, but kinda glad we didn't venture out there. It looked pretty wild. There are plenty of food vendors and bathrooms, but expect a long line. Whether you're a die-hard race fan or just curious about the hype like myself, IMS is worth checking out, especially during the Indy 500 race!

My 1st Indy 500 and it was a great experience! The venue seats 250,000, but can hold 400,000. It was a sellout with attendance around 350,000 people...first sellout since 2016. Ya have to get there early. We stayed about 30 minutes from the venue, but road closures are abundant on race day as you get close + the volume of cars took us over an hour and a half to get there. Parking inside and shuttles sell out in advance, but parking at locals homes is the next best option. It worked perfectly. We chose a house that was nicely decorated and pulled right in. A 10 minute walk to the gate and we were inside. As the crowd rolled in, we took the time to walk around the stadium, cross the track, and explore the grounds. Our seats were just before turn 1. For our first time, I'd say it was ideal. We could see the start/finish and green flag. The energy was high the entire race. It is also very loud so ear protection is key. As far as stadiums go, this is the biggest I've been to. It's well maintained and clean. It's nice you can bring in small coolers that fit under your seat. After a short rain delay, the race was on. A slow start with accidents taking cars out and a 2nd rain delay of potential concern. However, they have trucks to dry the course, which was awesome to see. The last 20-30 laps are most exciting. The leader kept changing, and with a last minute pass to win the race, Alex Palou was the winner. A stadium well organized, easy to get in/out, and clean. A fun day for fans of all ages.

Attended the speedway after visiting the recently renovated museum on the same grounds. The plaza was buzzing with fans in anticipation of the Indy 500 next week. Food and souvenir vendors were in this area. There was plenty of ADA escorts with golf carts. Staff was extremely friendly and willing to make our visit memorable. I think I had a better view of the speedway at the museum. You really need to go up in the tower if you want to see the racing. You can't see much at ground level as the race cars are just a blur since they are going over 240 mph. Fun and energetic vibes here. I learned a lot of historic facts and overall had a very lovely visit. Tip: check weather if it rains no cars on track. Also kids should have ear protection.

Kiss the Bricks tour

Kiss the Bricks tour - Great, quick experience This tour is $15 for adults, $8 for kids up to 15, and free for those under six. It is about 30 minutes of tour time, plus there are some photo ops before or after and the souvenir shop too. You round the track in a tram while listening to a guided Historic tour. Tons of interesting facts, even if you are not a racing fan. We are not, but really enjoyed the history piece of the tour. You get out at the start/finish line, see the original bricks and take more photos. The tour guide and driver are both very happy to help take photos. Something fun and educational to kill some time while in Indianapolis!!

I got to experience my first Carb Day Friday May 23rd, 2025. I wished the weather would had been better, it was definitely a cool start then it warmed up to about 64 or 65 degrees. It was packed no matter what time you got there, I was invited by a friend who play in a band, so that person I went with was my ticket getting in like VIP, parked far from the main entrance, so someone picked up myself and few others I was with VIP style up. Since, I was with the band I was at the lounge area. The IMS is very huge you really don't realize it until you're actually there. There were a lot of people on the last day of practice, I was able to hear the cars racing, one of the cars caught on fire(minor fire), and it was a thrill to hear the racing very fast. There was so much action happening especially around turn 3 areas. Since, I was invited by someone that was in a band that day I was able to use the Carb Day dollars at a concession stand, and I had a cheeseburger along with a beer. I had a good time at the IMS for Carb Day, and hopefully next year I'm able to go back. Now, I've already experienced my first Indy500 before. I highly recommend if you never been to IMS to go to a car event there.

I figure while in Indy, you might as well stop by the place that makes the city famous, right? So I visited, and I was told ahead of time that the museum was not open (it was undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation, supposedly the first time in 50 years or something like that...). But I got to see the track, as well as go inside the building where all the V.I.P.'s hang out (I forgot he name of it but it's right at the line). My tour group did not go anywhere near the track however, because Chevrolet was doing some sorta promotional thing on the track that day. Apparently, on some days of the year they rent out the track to corporations. But it would have been cool to touch the brick or get my pic taking with the finish/start line. Still, it was a great experience. Learned a lot of history, that's for sure.

I love car racing, but I'm not an oval fan; thus, my review of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is not your "based on a race" more common vibe. My brother-in-law's forte is race cars, he's mechanically inclined and can basically repair anything with wheels, thus works in the race car field. His team was doing test runs/practice day, so we stopped by to add him to our driving caravan headed out west. Got a chance to park down in the pit area and walk all around. I had no idea the track was smack in the middle streets/businesses; I was assuming it'd be out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by corn fields, so that was pretty cool. All my previous experiences with IMS have been via the tv, which they make it look so huge - which it is, don't get me wrong, being a 2+ mile circle - but the bleachers are way more up close and personal, no what I had always pictured it. Anyway, would I ever come here for a race? No way, cars going round and round in the same circle is boring to me, but I now appreciate the scale and longevity of this track. I even walked the brick on the track, so boom, haha!

This event is pure Americana. This is a bucket list thing people have to do. Well organized and fan friendly.

Look whom we ran into one the tour!

We were so lucky to avoid the rain during our tour... AND ran into Roberto Guevera and Davy Jones!!! Nicest people!!!

A must visit location for any race fans. A really unique track that just emits history. Lots of cool and fun stuff to see. Word of warning is that it can get very busy on race day. Leave yourself a lot of time to get in and out.

What an incredible experience The speedway itself is beautiful, clean and well designed It never feels like you will be crushed by the crowds Lots of entrances and exits disperse people well I can't wait to come back !

Anytime someone's asked me where I'm from if I'm out of town they always ask me if I've been to the Indianapolis 500. Most people from all over the world know of the race. It's the world's largest sporting event. I always say yes I have! I've come multiple times attending the 500, the Brickyard - NASCAR cars, and the one that was really neat was the Red Bull Air Race with small planes weaving in and out of pylons all across the inside of the track. I wish they would bring that back. If you come you will see lots of people in yellow polos. They're called the "yellow shirts." If you need help or have questions they will help you. Wear sunscreen and bring ear plugs even if they're the little ones in the plastic bags. So many people have asked me that come to the race do I need these? Yes, NASCAR is even louder since the cars and the engine is much bigger than the Indy car. Try to bring only the things you need. You will be carrying it and walking a lot. Wear comfortable shoes also! High heels are not what you wear here. They do sell flip flops in the gifts shops. If you're in Gasoline Alley area you will see some yellow shirts with whistles. Pay attention. They will control the crowd and create a path so that the cars, drivers, tires, and whatever else they need from the garages to get over to the pits. Just be aware and I've seen people looking down on their phone not realizing everyone else has stopped and they get whistled at and still aren't paying attention to stop. The Gordon Pipers you may see all through the IMS. They're a Scottish/Celtic group that have been around since the 1960's that play bagpipes and drum music and all wear traditional kilts! They sound so neat! If you've never been it really is a neat experience just to see and hear the flyover by military planes and then the wave of the green flag and the start of the race. Maybe next year will be your year to come to the 500!

From the moment we walked in, the energy was high--bright, clean, and full of excitement. The karts are fast, smooth, and really well-maintained. You can tell they put a lot of effort into safety as well as fun. The staff goes over everything clearly before you start, so even first-timers feel comfortable and confident. Once you're out on the track, though, it's pure adrenaline! The layout is great, with enough twists and turns to keep things interesting without being overwhelming. For families, this is a fantastic activity. Our kids had a blast, and it was so fun to see everyone laughing and getting into the competition. That said, it can get a little pricey if you're bringing a big group, but the experience is unique enough that it feels worth it for a special outing. What I really appreciate is the professionalism of the staff. They're friendly, patient, and keep things running smoothly even when the place is busy. The facility itself is clean, modern, and has more to offer than just karting--they've got other activities, food, and areas to hang out, which makes it easy to spend a whole afternoon here. Overall, Speedway Indoor Karting is a must-do if you're looking for something exciting and different. Whether you're a racing enthusiast or just want a fun activity for the family, you'll leave with big smiles and great memories. Highly recommend!

This was my first time here, and has been rather a dream to come check out. LUCKILY i have some extended family that lives not far from the track. I ended up going with the Top Eliminator Club tickets, which have a stout price, but it comes with some actual nice perks! There is a separate building you can go chill at with tons of seating and tv's everywhere to keep an eye on the action. It is an all-day event, so being able to go relax somewhere a little less loud and sit with your food is pretty nice. Outside there are tents that had I think 10 different types of drinks available free for TEC and you get breakfast in the morning which was fruit and sugary treats and then for lunch you get (1) run thru the lunch line so load up! (the wrist band has a thing they cut off) The food was pretty dang good! i figured after being in those big steamer trays for awhile all the flavor would have evaporated. It was well worth the extra cost and my wife who does not follow racing at all enjoyed the whole experience. The whole body rumble from the nitro funny cars was intense to say the least so the TEC building is a pretty cool thing to retreat to. I can't wait to do this again!

Oh, and earplugs or ear protectors are highly recommended as the cars are LOUD! Rain delayed the 2022 festivities on Saturday when we were there but after the track was dry, around 2:00, it was back-to-back racing the remainder of the day. On Scene: Bobby Pierce won the Lucas Oil Series race here on Sunday, September 23rd, 2018. I took over 50 pictures while at this race track as you can see for this listing. I review race tracks based on the following; concession stands, view of track, facilities, parking, scoreboard, and smoking. Additionally, as an added bonus, if they have an overhead roof is a plus. A feature I haven't thought of as being important at a race track. But, it came in handy here since it was a rainy weekend. More on this later. Concession Stands: Every time I visited the concession stand, I noticed no lines or only 1 or 2 people in line. I think this is because they are fast and they have more choices to choose from. Additionally, they have more people working the concession stands. Furthermore, there were some other vendors selling food and drinks behind the concession stands. Over head roof: This race track has something other race tracks that I have been to -don't have. They have an overhead roof. I liked this, as you don't have to worry about getting sunburnt. More importantly, I didn't worry about getting rained on. Facilities: They have bathroom facilities with running water. So, you can wash your hands. Track View: I had a great seat as I noticed you could see the whole race track from just about any seat in the grandstands. It's important to see all race cars race around the oval dirt track as a race fan. Parking: I had no problems in parking. The attendant said I could park anywhere. Also, I had no problems leaving the race after the race was over. Scoreboard: This race track has a scoreboard to keep track of the top 5 drivers. I like a race track that has this feature so you can tell who the leader is at all times. Smoking: There was no problem of anyone around me smoking. Although, smoking is allowed, there wasn't too many race car fans smoking around me. Thus, I enjoyed the race without worrying about second hand smoke blowing in my direction. My Experience: I got to see Scott Bloomquist sign autographs for race car fans at his souvenir trailer. My favorite late model race car driver almost won the race here today. This Jonathan Davenport. Jonathan led most of the laps during the second half of the race. But, Bobby Pierce passed Jonathan Davenport on the last lap with about 30 feet or so to go to the finish line. What a race.
