If you haven't been before, the entire zoo is transformed with food vendors lined along the walkways from some of the best restaurants in town. There are also coffee stands, tea stations, and little pop-up bars scattered everywhere. Live music, different genres, were peppered throughout the zoo as well, which makes the whole experience even better; something for everyone. It's one of my favorite fundraisers in Indy. If you're entering after 5 pm, you should use the south entrance to the museum, since the canal north entrance is locked. Tickets can either be bought at the ticketing counter or online, but online tickets are also scanned in here to check in. Then, the concessions counter is right by there. The prices for concessions are a little steep, but nothing outrageous. You can enter the theater from the first or second floor. The theater is pretty steep, so there's a bit of stairs depending on where you need to go. There is accessible seating at the very top row of the theater with companion seats. The seats are fairly comfortable but the rows are spaced kind of close, so you can feel people bumping your seat if they are moving about even pretty normally. I gave it another try on the Fourth of July since my mom and friends wanted to go. The security seemed to have improved. The facilities seemed to be the same as they have been for decades. The prices were comparable to any fair. My almost 4 year old daughter had never been, so there were plenty of amusements for her age to bring her joy. I like that they added a wine and beer garden since I last visited. They had a pretty good band performing as well. I tend to shy away from the county fairs nowadays and save that trip for the State fair l, but if you want a shorter visit at a smaller venue you can still get the full fair experience.

The fair is open from 5pm-11pm during the week and 12pm-11pm on the weekend. Masks are mandatory to enter the fair- however not enforced once you are inside the fair. Most people wore masks when they were not eating. It was hard to socially distance yourself as the stalls were close to each other. Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations were plentiful!! I saw staff also cleaning up the trash all through the event. As it is a county fair, it is smaller but with COVID-19 it was not as busy as usual. Entrance tickets are $5 but I was able to attend for free as a city employee on Thursday night. There were not as many events but it was still fun to see a wood carving demonstration, dinosaur event, auto exhibit from Indiana Historical Society, karaoke, and some animals. There was also a marketplace area but there were not a lot of vendors besides businesses for homes. The main attraction of any fair is the FOOD! They have plenty of food vendors and most of them had masks and gloves on. Only downside is no one was able to do free refills due to COVID-19. We looked and looked and there was no fried vegetables stall so we were let down on that front. The best spot we found was the kabob stall and of course the lemon shake ups and funnel cake. They had rides for mainly kids and games but we did not participate. They also had a bumblebee type character wandering around- picture is attached. Since there is no State Fair- the county fair did just fine!

Our foodie group went to Mud Creek Players one Saturday afternoon after brunch to see the play "I…read morelove you, you're perfect . . .now change." This was my first time coming here to see a play, so I was looking forward to the performance. It has been a long time since I have seen a play at a local community theater, so this was a treat for me. The play did not disappoint me at all. The actors did a wonderful job with the performance. The play is based on a Broadway musical, and it had a little bit of everything from singing to acting with different skits throughout the play. I was laughing and even crying a little bit throughout the play. Mud Creek Players is a great venue in Indianapolis that offers community theater plays and sketches for entertainment. The interior is definitely like an old style stage and theater with a concession stand in the front. All proceeds from the concession stand sales go towards a foundation for the theater. It is a very nice venue and the staff are wonderful and friendly. The play was excellent and entertaining like I said earlier, and it was worth the ticket price of $20. I'm glad I was able to see a play here at Mud Creek Players, and will definitely come back here again to see a play because it was great entertainment for a Saturday afternoon. So glad Indy has culture available to us!

On the other hand, traffic was lighter and there was something Dickensian about the entire experience. This is exactly what you expect it to be, though perhaps a better experience than I expected it to be. It's a drive-thru experience of Christmas lights, a synchronized light show with lots of spectacle and holiday spirit to be found. The music broadcasts through your car radio (I was glad I was with friends since my radio actually doesn't work). Christmas Nights of Lights opens before Thanksgiving and runs through New Year's Eve. It's a rain or shine (or snow) event. A few things to know: You enter at Gate 3. Online reservations are required and no cash/credit is accepted at the ticket booth. There are no refunds as they sell a limited number of tickets for each night. You "may" be able to exchange for a different time/night depending on availability, however, this MUST be done no later than 10pm on the day the ticket is valid. Carload passes and group passes apply to single vehicles. Also, the height restriction of the entrance tunnel is 11 feet. I grew up without Christmas in my home and there's a certain nostalgia to this experience in terms of driving around and seeing Christmas lights. Obviously, this is quite a bit fancier and a lot more festive. Is the experience somewhat expensive sure? $38 for a carload up to eight. $58.50 for 9-15 people. $84 for 16-35 people. If you go for an earlier slot, you get a time slot range of two hours. If you go later, it's about 30 minutes for the experience. With a carload, it's not a bad price. Will it become a holiday tradition? Probably not. I enjoyed it, maybe even more because of the rain. It added a certain sparkle to it all. However, it didn't quite have the "wow" factor that makes me immediately think I can't wait to go back. This is a neat experience and certainly a fun one for larger families or children's groups, however, for singles and small groups it's likely a bit pricey and not a great value.

The music is noticeably more religion-oriented this year than the past. I'm not sure who actually runs this but it seems weird on the state fair grounds. And this is coming from a Catholic family.
