I'm not sure where to start with this sandwich shop. They make the best sandwiches that I've ever had. The baked goods are also delicious. I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookies, brownies, or oatmeal raisin cookies. You can only purchase eight at a time. What a shame. Stock up when you can. I haven't tried their salads because the sandwiches are so good and can't pass one up. If I were around Scituate during the week, I would go there every day. They have various soups in the fridge, and a gelato bar next door. The gelato is very good. Just go. You can't go wrong with anything there. read more

Remember it's Cash Only. It stinks I had to borrow money from my daughter to pay for lunch. I should have read the reviews here first. Food was pretty good but I thought the baguette crust was xtra thick. My chompers got tired of chewing the Cuban Sandwich. The others in my party liked their food, especially the dill chicken salad. We had to wait a while for the people to make 3 sandwiches, service was a little slow even though the place was not crowded. It was good... just not great. Next time I think I'll try the BLT with Mozzarella! read more

The chocolate chip cookies were still melty when I got there. Lucky me. ;) Some interesting vegetarian sandwiches. It's not all vegetarian though. I think the sandwich shop closes around 4 or 5, and the gelato shop is open later. And I think they're closed on Sunday. The gelato shop might also be closed on Monday. This place is cash only. read more

THE WORST. THE OWNER IS HORRIBLE. STAY AWAY. DIRTY. RUDE STAFF. $$$$$ and CASH ONLY AND ABOVE ALL COLD GREASY MEDIOCRE FOOD. We ordered our sandwiches on the phone and were told it would be 1 hour and 15 minutes. Arriving there was a line of about 8 people, knowing how slow the service is, I asked each person if they minded if I inquired about the to go order. When I got to the counter, I could clearly see my order sitting there- when I asked the owner told me that I had to get to the back of the line and wait my turn. So I went to the back of the line. Circe's waits on one person at at time, and makes one sandwich at a time, so each order takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. While waiting I noted that something foul smelling had burned filling the whole place with an awful smell, and overall the store portion looked run down and dirty. Making me wonder about the kitchen. After 45 minutes of waiting it was my turn. They grabbed the same bag of sandwiches that had been sitting there when I was told to get to the end of the line. I told them that I feared the sandwiches were cold now and requested that they be reheated. It was at that point the owner started going crazy - grabbing the sandwiches out of the bag and telling me that they were warm enough. I told her I wanted the same as everyone else - fresh hot sandwiches as she made me go to the back of the line instead of taking my $60 cash for the pre ordered sandwiches when I first approached the counter. She flipped out and told me to take the sandwiches and leave her store. I put the $60 in the tip jar and left with my greasy cold uninspired sandwiches that I waited for over 2 hours to get. The shop is littered with signs saying you have to wait your turn and to be nice, so it makes you wonder how many times this happens. RUN AWAY - DON' T WALK RUN. read more

I, like everyone else, have my fair share of strange dreams. However, the only sandwich (or any food item I can remember) to make its appearance is Circe's Turkey with melted cheddar, avocado, red onion and red pepper mayo on seven-grain bread. Just saying. Considering they have the best chocolate-chip cookie in the world, it can be forgiven that they often run out of seven-grain bread (Tuscan is just not the same), the space inside is minimal and often full with waiting customers. If asked for a sandwich with a cookie, this is where I would come any time, with anyone. read more

I absolutely love this place. I found this place on Yelp and based on their existing reviews it drew my attention. We live couple towns over and enjoy going there almost every weekend for lunch. I usually get the thymely tuna, tuna melt, or the Cuban press. All are very good and fresh! The veggie hummus is tasty as well! We only got the cookie once since everyone raves about them. And they are definitely worth the calories! :) I'm glad I found you guys! read more

The sandwiches and salads at Circe's are simply the best - freshly made with super fresh ingredients..... Would highly recommend to anyone who loves good food and wants something that is fresh, tastes amazing and is not over priced. The baby spinach salad with turkey is fantastic. Can't recommend Circe's highly enough :) read more

Yummm !! That's my review of the sizable and delicious California BLT. Nice shop owner, too.

We had dinner here for 2 birthdays and the services was great. Very friendly and attentive. The food was good - tasty, inventive, fresh...but for the price...the drinks were good but nothing that I haven't seen before. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and appreciate the romantic ambiance. read more

Great sandwiches! A nice cash only spot off the beaten path in Scituate. Bread is super fresh. The roast beef was phenomenal. Would definitely go back! read more

We have loved Circes for YEARS! The food is always super fresh and always prepared as you wait. Prices are posted on a chalk board and specials are changed daily. Cash and check are accepted, and they even let you run across the street (while they make your sandwich) to an ATM if you only have plastic. The food is amazing and the service is great too! The girls up front work so hard and are so pleasant. Go for the cookies and the wraps....oh and the paninis they're amazing too! PLEASE, pay no attention to the negative reviews. Many area people feel entitled to "special treatment". The owner is dedicated to fairness to ALL her customers...so is not likely to give one customer 12 chocolate chip cookies...because there wouldn't be any left for the rest of her customers. (This is a very small shop.) Many of our area people think that "no, I can't do that..." = rude. NOT SO...these are just grown ups acting like children having a tantrum. I've never ever experienced the owner as rude. She is fair and direct and does her best to accommodate ALL of her customers. read more

Circe's is a total gem of a local shop. Everytime I come home I always try to swing by this place because their sandwiches are sooo damn good! While they get 5 stars for food, they definitely could work on a few things - especially their not so friendly customer service! Pros: - Delicious sandwiches and baked goods (especially those chocolate chip cookies!) - Wide variety of sandwiches to choose from - Options for vegetarians/vegans Cons: - Cash only - Often long lines - Limited Seating - No bathroom - Rude/indifferent service All in all, I'd recommend this lunch spot to anyone looking for some quality food in the North Scituate area! read more

An institution and owner operated. The best food and goodies. Tasty sandwiches. Friendly servers. Great f lunch.

Yes they are known for their made to order sandwiches. But the best thing I have ever had from here are the COOKIES! My daughter and I love them! Chocolate chip and the Peanut butter are our favorites so far and they are HUGE. Sandwiches are top notch. Yes there is a bit of a wait but everything is made fresh when you order it. If you order there get a cookie with your meal! read more

The sandwiches are really good. Although pricey, you definitely get quality over quantity, which is really nice. I highly recommend the Italian Stallion, it is fantastic and fresh! HOWEVER, I have a major beef with this place. I've been twice (both on Saturday afternoon) and their ordering system is totally annoying and really time consuming. Both times I was there it was super packed...so I had to wait in line to place my order, which I really didn't mind. However, they literally will not allow you to pay when you place your order. So after about a 10 to 15 minute wait (for 2 sandwiches) they called my name and BOTH TIMES I've been there, they called my name and I had to wait an additional 5 to 6 minutes to get up to the counter and pay. Mostly because they only have one person working the counter and someone else is essentially just calling your name and walking away. So you have no choice but to get back in line to pay. So I very politely suggested to the owner that it would be great if I could pay when I order, since I ended up having to wait twice (once to order and once again to pay) and she was extremely argumentative and rude about my suggestion. She snapped "I've been doing this for 32 years! I know the way it's done, it wouldn't work the other way". I understand that on a busy Saturday she probably could care less about this type of customer suggestion. But she really should have just smiled and said "thank you for the suggestion", isn't that what good customer service is about? I think she is a overwhelmed with the great business they are doing, both times I was there I noticed that she had very little drink selection (like they were not ordered or had sold out too fast) and the place itself is a bit disheveled. I will not go back. I can deal with poor customer service from an employee, but from the owner, no way! I guess she doesn't appreciate my business (or my $25 for two sandwiches!) read more

Great place for artisan sandwiches and great bakery-inspired lunches. They're cash only but I stood in a really long line before I knew that fact (it's not posted anywhere). When I got up to the counter and asked about my debit card, she said that there was an ATM at the Tedeschi's across the street but she would be glad to make my sandwich while I ran over to it. That way, I didn't have to wait another twenty minutes. It made the Thanksgiving sandwich taste so much better once I got it. They have a small outdoor seating section and make good use of the tiny space inside. Despite the long wait at lunch time on a summer day, it was a great experience. read more

I have found the answer to World Peace and the end to World Hunger ... Circe's chocolate chip cookies! Yes, I have spoken to Hillary Clinton and the CEO of OXFAM and they are thrilled with my discovery! But alas ... The shop is too small to handle such a monumental task to feed the world ... (Although I am quite certain Mrs. Stella could handle this singlehandedly, she does have a family, and friends, and a life so time is limited!) ... So for us locals, we can do our philanthropic duty and take part in this epic adventure by making our corner of the world happy and content ... we will buy, share, and ENJOY Circe's CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES for the sake of the WORLD! Hey ... do you guys deliver?! read more

The sandwiches are fantastic, no doubt about that. But so often I have been in there during a rush, and getting your order in takes a long time! I mean like 20-30 minutes waiting in line long. That is because they take orders and make it one by one. I really think they should consider a different tactic during the lunch rush. 5 star food. 2 star service. read more

The food is excellent, whether it's sandwiches, the baked goods, or the prepared meals to go. I only took a star off for the following reasons: it's cash only, they don't usually answer the phone, the owner is extremely particular about people on their cell phones or people who want to skip the line to pick up a phone order, it is very smoky inside due to lack of proper kitchen exhaust (you will leave with smelly clothes). But, despite all that, it is hands down the best sandwich shop in the 20 mile radius. read more

Amazing food, more on the expensive side though, but defiantly worth it. A little bit of a drive from downtown area, but worth it if you're looking for a well-made sandwich. read more

My friend suggested we go to Circe's to grab a sandwich before walking around the harbor. Circe's made the BEST grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had. Looking forward to trying one of their other sandwiches next time around. Highly recommended. read more

I LOVE this little place! Everything is fresh, homemade, and delicious! Until last weekend, my favorite was the amazing caprese panini, but now I think my new favorite is the lobster grilled cheese, which was the daily special. It was packed with fresh lobster, smoked gouda, and avocado ... so delicious and a great deal at $10! There's also a new gelato place next door with the same owners which of course I had to try, and had the most delicious coconut gelato ever (bambino size - perfect). So flavorful and delicious! One thing to remember ... it's it's cash only ... but WORTH it! read more

I'm going on a fishing trip and I said I'll get some sandwiches. This place doesn't take cash so I had to make a special trip to the bank. Then I walked into this place and I say I need four sandwiches. I said I need two roast beef with horseradish mayo and the response I get is unacceptable. The woman behind the counter tells me they're out of roast beef. Unacceptable!!!!! That also wipes out the third sandwich I was going to order three of the four sandwiches were supposed to be roast beef. Just another typical south shore experience. read more

There is no place as good as this for an inspiring lunch. Never room for their excellent baked goods, because everything from the salads to the roll ups/paninis are unbeatable. read more

The beef, horseradish mayo, red pepper and lettuce sandwich is out of this world !

Great sandwiches and salads, though a bit pricey. Thanksgiving wrap is my fave, but I'm always up for trying any of the sandwiches. The Thai noodles are amazing when they have them! read more

Loved this place. It is right down the street from us and I found it on Yelp. I highly recommend it. We will not have to have a snadwich from Wilbers again. Great place!! read more

I have been getting ice coffee and cookies/ brownies here for over 12 years. And it's an absolute must for the days you need a boost in life. The turkey avocado is a must have. And all their signature sandwiches are excellent, fresh, and never disappointing. It's like going to Provisions with out Nantucket pricing. The drink selection is eclectic and funky and all of it is worth the wait. Have patience people. It's definitely a must have destination. read more

Great panini sandwiches - order off the blackboard - primarily lunch a take out place with friendly staff. Sandwiches are large enough to split. Great sandwiches and a nice assortment of desserts. Cash only. Great food for picnic on the beach. Turkey and cheddar with onions and red pepper may is my favorite so far. Worth a visit if hungry and in the neighborhood. read more

Looking for a stop on the way to the Cape that was dog-friendly and this worked perfectly! The staff printed a menu for us to look at outside on their small sidewalk patio seating and our orders came out fast. Food was delicious but I thought it was a grilled sandwich... I guess I needed to request that part. It was yummy regardless! Recommended if ever driving down Route 3. read more

Exceptional food, make sure you leave room for desert!

I really love this place. I almost always get a tuna melt on a wheat wrap -- delicious tuna! But try the soups -- they are fantastic. Killer, and I mean Killer, cookies and brownies. I love the peanut butter cookies, but yesterday I tried an oatmeal with cranberries and it was so good. There must be something special in those cookies. There was a hint of citrus (maybe citrus cranberries?) but whatever it is, buy two! read more

No words for how amazing this place is. Chocolate chip cookies are TO DIE FOR

This is the perfect place to grab a sandwich on your way to the beach or to catch the train into town.

The peanut butter cookie are legendary ALL of their desserts are fantastic, but the peanut butter cookies should be in the Cookie Hall of Fame! A MUST try/buy when you go here! I've yet to have anything from Circe's that isn't fantastic....it all tastes like homemade (and it's healthier than your usual place). This place is anything but ordinary, without going to the extreme (in other words, there's something on the menu for everyone). Love Circe's Grotto!! read more

Probably the best sandwiches in town and the deserts, especially the chocolate chip cookies, are outstanding. I like the mozzarella, tomato, and pesto sandwich (but I get it cold rather than pressed) and the chicken salad sandwich. They only take cash and are a bit pricey, but worth it for a splurge every now and then. read more

Great sandwiches and salads! Almost everything is made fresh daily. The sandwiches are a little pricey but are huge. Try the Turkey with avacado, cheedar, red onions and roasted red pepper mayo. They also have some great vegetarian selections. There is limited seating so I would suggest taking it to go. read more

The pressed Turkey and cheddar with onions avacado and red pepper mayo sanwich is great. Oh and its gigantic. I made the mistake of getting a cookie for after (which is also great) but I had no room for it. Waited for about 5 minutes. It was moderately busy i suppose for a wednesday afternoon. read more

Nine of us went here after a walk-run fundraiser. Our blisters were well earned for this treat. The Thanksgiving wraps and sandwiches were a big hit. I'm probably going to dream about my chicken, pesto, mozzarella and tomato Panini tonight. A couple of vegan choices would have earned them the extra star. Wish they weren't so far away. Definitely be back :-) read more
