This place is a backroads gem. The food was fabulous, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was charming and cozy. We were there for breakfast on a Sunday and were steered to try the sticky cinnamon rolls and French Press coffee as a starter. Highly recommend! Then our breakfast entrees arrived and not one complaint. The eggs were perfect, the cheesy grits were unlike anything I've tried. This restaurant will become our favorite local haunt. read more

Dan and I woke up hungry on a lazy Sunday and decided to find some brunch. Since it was a happy Sunday with no work or school for either of us, we ventured to a restaurant I'd noticed on Yelp: Circa. It had rave reviews on Yelp, and a $15 brunch buffet, so why not? It was a beautiful drive into the country for us on a nice day. What shocked me about Circa was that it wasn't jam-packed on a Sunday. It was small-town busy, but I'm used to 60-90 minute brunch waits at the trendy Franklin spots. In fact, we enjoyed this place so much I was hesitant to review it for fear the secret would get out! We were seated immediately, on the adorable porch no less. Perfection. The buffet had salad, fresh fruit, parfait, typical Southern brunch foods (Eggs Benedict, scrambled, potatoes, has brown casserole, bacon and meats, biscuits and gravy), chicken tenders, mac 'n' cheese, and other lunch-type foods. And DESSERT! I, of course, kicked off with a $6 mimosa. I had a plate and a half of food, determined to try lots of things. I found it to be delicious. Dan wasn't in love with the pancakes (he likes the unique ones at First Watch) but I felt like it was the best Southern brunch I'd had in ages. It tasted fresh and homemade. I thought the bacon was thick and well-crisped, and the biscuits were awesome. The mac 'n' cheese and hash brown casserole weren't as good as some other local places, but I was extremely satisfied with everything I ate! I also had some of the owner's homemade blackberry jam on the biscuits, as well as the poundcake with BLUEBERRY FROSTING. Wowza! And seriously, $15 for all-you-can-eat? Heavens. They also had craft cocktails, which were on the pricey side but on par with downtown Franklin pricing. So everyone needs to get to Circa for brunch... and by everyone I mean no one because I don't want to have to wait for a table... but I can't keep this place a secret because I'd love to drive business their way. :) I am reserving the 5th star for when I can get down there for a non-brunch meal, but for brunch in my mind it is 5-star and my new favorite in the Franklin area. read more

Wow! If you're looking for southern cuisine with attention to detail, this is the place to be. Our server, David, went above and beyond to make sure our experience was exceptional. From amazing recommendations, to his charismatic personality, he is the epitome of what the serving industry should be. When restaurants bring out bread as a starter, it is usually sub par. When I tell you I could've ate the bread alone, I'm not lying. David told us that the bread was made freshly by a gentleman in the Kitchen, Edgar. The service, hostess, and waiting staff were very pleasant and nice. The atmosphere was cozy and a good place in town to meet friends to hang out. The location is spectacular to look out and see history. We had the won-tons with avocado dipping sauce which was very good but a little small for the size. Okay, so now for the food. I was a little disappointed in the Lemon/Tarragon Chicken Pasta. The chicken was dry, I didn't get enough mushrooms or spinach, and there were too many lima beans. It could have used more seasoning of some sort. BTW, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the lemon sauce was somewhat good (didn't want to be a downer on the entire piece). My wife kinda liked the Po-Boy but said the bread was just okay. One son had a cheeseburger and the other had chicken fingers. It was okay. Again, this is a great place to come meet friends and enjoy the atmosphere with great service, but be prepared to spend a pretty penny. I just wished the meals met the quality of their prices with wonderful products. read more

Staff is very nice. Restaurant is always busy. Reservations for bar seating is even recommended. Is it worth that hassle? Eh, maybe. Area is lacking in nicer restaurants so for that, I'd say yes. For the price, the wine list is lacking, the food could be upgraded. Some very good fresh ingredients mixed with what tastes/feels like mid grade (at best) store bought ingredients. I had the duck. Appreciated that I wasn't asked what temp. It came mostly mid rare, a little inconsistent in temp but decent. The sauce was a little thin and it came with "pickled jalapeños" which were really store bought canned jalapeños. I was excited for them and disappointed. The charcuterie "pastrami" was more like deli sliced overcooked roast beef and there was cubed Colby jack. I was hoping for a more exciting palate with the board. the homemade jam and stone ground mustard on the plate were delish. I think it can be a decent meal and nice for the lack of restaurants in the area but I expected more for the price and hype. read more

This was one our favorite restaurants when we moved here in 2014 but it has since gone way down hill. It has so much potential to be outstanding. The atmosphere is fantastic, the location is great for those in the South Franklin/Spring Hill area and the menu is a perfect mixture. Consistency is key, and Circa does not have it. Last time we were here we swore it was our last time. The service was horrible and the food was mediocre at best. But, alas, we decided to give it one last shot. When we arrived Saturday night for our 7:30 res, we were told to wait. And wait we did. For 30 minutes. I knew we were in for a long night. We sat and were acknowledged by our server and waited another 20 minutes or so for our drinks. They were out of 2 different beers and our friend had to wait an additional 10 minutes for his beer. It's a beer y'all. I ordered the special filet medium rare and my husband ordered the salmon with our waiter's offering of creamed spinach. Y'all, see the pic of so called creamed spinach. It was a handful of raw spinach with some half n half poured on top. Comical! My steak was moo-ing on top of a scoop of pinto beans and they were OUT of salmon so my husband ended up ordering the ribeye medium rare. It was SO tough and SO overlooked. The food was barely edible. The waiter offered no apologies. On top of all of that, we were there for almost 3 hours. The best part of our meal was the wine and the chips. Impossible misses. Hate that we forked over $160 for wine and chips. There will be no more chances on Circa until they decide to hire better staff in both the dining area and kitchen. read more

I've had the Pasta Nola, steak, rabbit, chicken, and have always enjoyed amazing draft beer, and it's never accompanied with poor service. I can't recommend Circa enough. Circa was okay. The food was fine - nothing to write home about but plated nicely. About the service... not sure if Kaylene (our server) was having an off day, but she was not very attentive. For example, our coffee was never refilled. Requested items were forgotten. My husband's plate was taken from him while he was still chewing. And the check was presented without asking if there was anything else that we wanted. We might have stayed for a drink, but neither of us was impressed. Me and my significant other arrived around 7 PM last night to eat supper.After the hostess finally appeared after 5 minutes she acted like we weren't even standing there (right in the front door). I asked her how long the wait for 2 was and she Informed me that they were booked up for the night but she could sit me on the patio which we were fine with because it wasn't to chilly and we wanted some good food! So she sits us down on the front patio literally FRONT AND CENTER of the restaurant and that was the last we heard from anyone. Two separate waiters actually came out and cleaned off the other tables that were around us but not one person there ever even attempted to take our drink order or even speak/look at us. Pretty pathetic if you ask me I'll take my $115 and go buy a Tomahawk elsewhere! read more

This usually is our go to restaurant BUT something has changed. Not sure if they have a new manager or chef. Service has been subpar and the food which is usually excellent has been okay. Went a week ago for dinner and the steak was cold and very very rare. Then we went for brunch the the chorizo has little chorizo in it and the sweet potatoes were cold. We also ordered the steak and eggs and it was made incorrectly. Honestly, I hope they figure things out soon because we love this place so much!! read more

Hubby, baby, and I ate at Circa last night and wow were we impressed!!!! We went there while our daughter was at soccer practice and ate out on the front patio...it was a beautiful evening, the weather was perfect, and the view was awesome! But onto the most important part...the food! We ordered mussels to start...there weren't as many in the portion size as I like but they were delicious:). I had the tuna burger with a side of spinach...it was amazing! Hubby had the rice and shrimp jambalaya type of meal (there was shrimp in it)...he liked it okay, but liked mine more! Baby (15 months) loved the mussels (who knew???), the spinach, and the fruit. His meal was actually panko encrusted shrimp and a great dipping sauce with fruit which hubby and I loved but he was not that impressed with. During dinner we had a great conversation with the nicest people next to us!!! Lisa and her hubby (plus their brand new dog). They are regulars and raved about the place:)...her hubby is a vet at the horse hospital down the street. The chef even came out to talk to her and see her dog! My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary by dining at Circa for the first time. We were very pleased with our experience. We were greeted with a smile and helped to our table by the hostess, the atmosphere was dimly lit to give a nice ambiance for our date, it wasn't loud or noisy, and the staff was very polite and helpful. We ordered the fried green tomatoes to start out, and they were delicious. I can only imagine how much better they will be in the summer when tomatoes are fresh. The peppers used for garnish were not too hot. They gave a nice bite to the sweetness of the tomato. The table bread was homemade cornbread, and it was some of the best I've had. It was a good mixture of both sweet and savory, with an incredibly moist texture. No butter needed, but always a plus when added. For our meals I had the short rib and my wife had the shrimp and grits. The short rib was very tender with good seasoning. It tasted a lot like pot roast. The bean and Brussels sprouts that it was served on were excellent, and I could eat a bowl of those by themselves. My wife's shrimp and grits were creamy and flavorful, and she was very happy to see the tails were removed from the shrimp. All in all this was a wonderful place to enjoy a night out, and we will be back. read more
