By FAAAR the best place for North Indian food that I've found in the north jersey area (maybe a couple of places in Edison may be also ok, but this place is heads up in terms of ambience, price etc.) They have an excellent lunch buffet, great menu and the quality/quantity is always great. We ordered Daal Makhni and Paneer Tikka with naan, the serving size was okay. Although out of the two dishes Paneer Tikka was awful we had to leave that as is, it was served cold and it seemed as it was partially cooked, as if they just took it out from the fridge and served it. We recently stopped by to try out Indian food. We usually go to Spice Grill on 46, however the best place to try Indian food has always been Jersey City or Edison. We wanted to try out other Indian restaurant in the Parsippany area so we looked up Cinnamon since it had the good ratings. Our First impression of the place - the place looks good, a lot of seating, although it was evening on a Friday, the place was fairly empty. The staff was courteous and accommodating. I had one of the worst experiences ever!! I didn't like the food...didn't think it was fresh but their service was even worse. I asked for tea and they told me they were closing in 15 mins and that we should have ordered it before having food. I found this weird and requested to speak to the management/owner who also blew us off basically saying he didn't care. He went on to say we were not his only customers!! Possibly the best Indian food in the region. We've been for the buffet lunch a number of times and for dinner several times. We had dinner here again last night. The service was very good, The food was excellent. The decor is good, but not outstanding. We hope to come here more often in the future. Im a big fan of Indian Food, I try to eat and experience as many Indian Food places as I can in NJ. When I heard about Cinnamon I thought it should be good considering the reviews. I was utterly disappointed though. I went it and it took the staff about 5 minutes to realize I was their and to seat me. When I walked in their was no staff or employee. After looking over the menu I decided to order the Chicken Tikka Masala, with 2 garlic naan. My friend ordered a Aloo Papri Chaat as an appetizer, then the Lamb Curry. First, the Chaat had no flavor and seasoning on it. Moreover, it was hard and very little chutney on it. When the entrees arrived, the naan were burnt, and my friends lamb was not even fully cooked, my chicken Tikka Masala was ok. Im not sure if they were having a bad day or what, but I won't be going back any time soon to find out. read more

Love this place! I have been going to Cinnamon the last few years as I worked close by and I must say one of the best Indian restaurants in NJ (only competition would be Rasoi)! Their lunch buffets are awesome. I had my daughters birthday party in their banquet hall and other than a few minor issues the entire event went extremely well. Anna, the manager was extremely helpful and did an awesome job with helping me finalize details. They even let me decorate the venue the night before so I could save time for my afternoon lunch party the next day. Food was delicious, and they set everything up exactly how I wanted. Unless you like eating purple (raw) chicken curry and getting told by the cashier that.. "eh- it gets cooked on high temperature. It's like steak.. You'll be fine." I would stay far away. to say the least, I'm less than thrilled about the experience eating here and the general lack of concern for a patron. In case you aren't aware Chicken is not like steak ma'am. Chickens, unlike cows, can carry and be infected with this pretty terrible bacteria called Salmonella; thus, Chicken needs to be cooked thoroughly to kill off the said bacteria. I can't believe this place hasn't gotten more reviews! I went here lst night with my boyfriend (a sunday) for the $15.95/person dinner buffet, but we got there after 9pm, and they had already closed it down (they close at 10pm on Sundays). The place was empty except for 2 other men, so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The menu is SO EXTENSIVE! It's divided by main ingredient, i.e. chicken, lamb, goat, etc. There were so many different choices that I asked the waiter to surprise me with a dish from the chicken section. For starters were were brought out what looked like baked tortillas, and they had a funny taste to them, like smoky spicy something. Nothing I've ever tasted before. Along with the bread was a group of 3 dipping sauces, one orange, one brown, and one green. The green one was SPICY, but it fades fairly quickly, which is good. The orange one I think was Mango chutney, which they describe as a sweet spicy preserve made with fresh mangos. It tasted weird with the weird taste of the bread. The brown sauce was kind of sweet and kind of spicy, and I didn't like it either. For the actual dinner, my boyfriend ordered a lamb dish and one of the chicken kebobs, I don't know what they were called, but they were both absolutely delicious, and so different from anything I've tasted before! I had the Chicken Makani, and it was even better than the lamb dish. The waiter also brought out Basmati Rice Pulau, which was so flavorful, even by itself!! The grains are long and slender, not short and stubby like regular rice. We also had Garlic Naan, which was soft, freshly baked garlic bread with fresh, minced garlic cloves sprinkled over it. Altogether the bill came to $46, which I was more than willing to pay for such a spectacular meal. I highly recommend this restaurant, it was exactly what I was looking for! read more

Had a bad experience with the management at a recent party that we hosted in the Cinnamon banquet hall. We received about 10% of the leftover food to take home after the party. When questioned as to what happened to rest of the food we were told that they were thrown in the garbage. When the party hosts who paid for the food are requesting extra containers to carry them back home, the management reports that they'd rather just thrown them in the garbage than just let the customers take them all home? And when questioned, we were told that what they do with the food is not our problem. We were told they keep replenishing the trays and what happens to the food was not our concern. I get it but when there is food sitting on the trays that we'd like to take it's atrocious to tell us they'd rather waste it and we shouldn't question that! We were told that we were raising our voice over the phone and that they are not deaf. So are they running a business with a messed up policy that no one can question? Absolutely no customer service skills or respect for people who've paid nearly $1k just minutes back for the party. Even if they do have a screwed up policy over food they should have the courtesy to explain in a polite and courteous manner. And when we said they will hear from us on yelp, they said we can do what we want and hung up on us. Great way to treat your customers cinnamon. Food was good no doubt, but we were utterly disappointed with their lack of customer service skills at the end of the day. read more

HATED IT Like HELL! I have visited this Restaurant with my friends on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM for buffet, the food was not at all good and the Management was very rude to us. We have traveled all the way down from Jersey City to Morrisplains after seeing reviews in social website but the story is completely different in the restaurant. The Management wanted us to leave they din't even give us time to finish our food and we requested them for 10 more minutes which they haven't given us and we said that we wont be visiting this place again and the Management reply was " With pleasure we don't need you back here". He was yelling so hard at us that we were shocked. This isn't the way a management should respond to the customers right? Every aspect of this place has disappointed us. The food, the management, the service etc. Also, we wanted separate bills which they din't provide us and the bill given here is not an e-bill, just give a Handwritten bill. Cinnamon is my favorite indian place in all of Morris County. Their lunch buffet always has dozens of choices with a variety of chicken, lamb, goat, and vegetarian options, both appetizers and main dishes. While going for lunch is a good option, I highly suggest going for dinner. Every single dish is packed with flavor. Tonight we got vegetable samosas and pakora to start. Followed by Chicken Makani, Saag Paneer and Malai Kofta for entrees. We had one person in our group that didnt like the dishes too spicy while the others liked things a little nore on the spicy side. Our server offered to meet in the middle and made our dishes between mild and medium spicy. It was absolutely perfect! It is a BYOB restaurant so we brought a bottle of wine which they were happy to chill for us. We mentioned it was my birthday and they surprised us at the end with ice cream, gulub jamun, and a cupcake!!!! It was a wonderful experience! 5 stars absolutely! read more

Sigh....I was so excited to try this place based on so many terrific reviews, but for me it was just OK. It wasn't bad...it just didn't wow me in any way whatsoever. The people were very nice and service was good, but the food was just so so. The samosas were pretty good, probably my favorite part of the meal. The garlic naan was probably my least favorite out of all the garlic naan I've tried over the past 6-12 months (we've been on a bit of an Indian kick). Not sure where the garlic was. We ordered chicken tikka masala, a lamb dish and an eggplant dish. The sauces on the eggplant & chicken were actually sweet (first time I've encountered this at an Indian restaurant), and although I ordered everything mild, the food had no discernible spice whatsoever. Enticed by the good reviews and awesome smells, my husband and I tried the lunch buffet yesterday. Food tasted good and service was good as well. However, by the evening both my husband and I were throwing up violently. The urgent care center diagnosed I ut as food poisoning and the only meal in common we had all day was the buffet. I called the manager just to warn him (maybe a dish had sat our too long? Or food was contaminated?) and I was treated very rudely and my comments dismissed. We won't go here again. read more

My wife and I are lovers of Indian cuisine. We had been advised to check Cinnamon out. We were not disappointed! The entrees do not appear to have been sitting in oil all day. Chicken tandoori was full of flavor and moist. Same for our vegetables and naan. Tab was barely $40 and we brought our own wine. Went here Saturday for the lunch buffet. It was very extensive and varied. I was glad that it had different spice levels as I cannot handle too spicy of food. One thing that would have helped was for them to explain what was in the dishes rather than just providing the names of them. This place is awesome! The Chicken Tikka Massala is the best I have ever had, and their chickpea salad is incredible. Every now and then they serve fried catfish during lunch. If you are lucky enough to be there when they do, you have to try it. Absolutely delicious! We were at the restaurant today, first time there. This place is big. Seating arrangement is good and spaced out. Restaurant is clean. Food is fresh. BUT it is flavorless!!! While they want to cater to non-indian folks - so keeping the chilli factor down is understandable but making it flavorless is not. Curry dishes did not have any flavor they were really bland and too low on salt! Baingan bharta, mixed veg, paneer saag all were flavorless. Appetizers are good. I honestly can not believe how bad the food was. We go out for Indian Food in Morris County very often. The service was not good either. The restaurant and restrooms were dirty. Our appetizer was actual inedible. Paid in cash and got back the wrong change, luckily in my favor. Waited for the server to come back to give him back the incorrect change he over paid me - like earlier in the evening, the server was no where to be found. Lucky for me. I have eaten Indian food many places (including India) and have sampled many a lunch buffet. This buffet is probably the best I have been to that's non-vegetarian. First of all, they have PAPADUMS. I have never seen that at any other lunch buffet in the USA! They have an extensive selection of different appetizers and main dishes, all of which taste delicious, and naan is made to order. Mango lassi is not too sweet, which I love, and creamy. They also have an AWESOME selection of chutneys, which is amazing- rarely are mango chutney and tamarind at the same buffet. Awesome. Service is good and the owners seem pleasant. The only complaint I have (and I almost dinged them a star for this, but they have almost a perfect rating I didnt want to mess up and really, the food is delicious) is that the buffet food is not hot enough! I know its hard to keep buffet food hot but I almost wish they had a microwave there! read more
