Classic Packs 4 Count

I haven't had a Cinnabon in years, and we had them delivered via Uber Eats. A little zap in the microwave, and the ooey gooey center with a slightly melty frosting was perfection!

Pan Lourdes is an inexpensive, family-friendly walk on the sweet side. For those new to…read moreMexican/Salvadorean baked goods, this is a good place to get up to speed on the basics. Latin pastry is drier and less sweet than what I'm used to. Here, there are worthy exceptions. The semita with pineapple-molasses swirl is good. The cheese filling in some items has an unexpectedly refined flavor. The bread pudding is my favorite, moist and eggy with plump raisins and a dark caramelized crust. Pan Lourdes is strictly no-frills. Along with basic coffee, you'll find the Hispanic classics, plus a couple of doughnuts. You have to ask for bread, which they keep out back. There is almost nothing with chocolate.

I only visited this location once, but it is one I would definitely check into again…read more It's a great bakery featuring items that are more Hispanic in nature. That being said, don't be surprised if the person assisting you knows little or no English. The pastries are all behind glass cases, and things didn't look disturbed from day-to-day, which gives me the impression they aren't removed overnight, but I am making a broad generalization (thus, my assumption should be taken with a grain of salt). The pastries are of great quality, though. They are flaky, light, and tasty. I was surprised, since it's a huge departure from the sugary, syrupy concoctions offered in most malls, airports, and coffee shops. The real star here is the price, though. Two pastries (one a pineapple empanada, the other a large equivalent to an eclair or canoli) cost less than $3 with tax. If I ever happen upon this neighborhood, I definitely know where I will satiate my morning sweet tooth craving.

I ordered a biscuit with jam, a chocolate chip pecan cookie, and donut for my daughter. I only went for a quick treat but they were placing out some fresh made sandwiches that looked good. The apple and cheddar sandwich sounds good so I'd come back to try it. I didn't see the coffee menu until after placing my order but they do offer espresso and lattes. The cookie was delicious and had a slight salty flavor that complemented it well. The biscuit was good too but tasted healthy. I would order it again. I would revisit Manifest Bread to try more of their menu items. The service was great, there was room to sit inside and there's a dedicated parking lot. I went during the week so I'm not sure if parking is as easily available on the weekends.

Parking is challenging at peak times. The selection of baked goods is varied and fresh. The line to buy items can get long. There's a decent-sized space to "eat-in", should you want. The sweet potato/chili/pistachio bialy is quite a creation, really like it, zings big time. I've never seen that flavor combo in a bialy before and hope they keep making it. The gingerbread with meyer lemon glaze has a very deep ginger flavor that's quite memorable. Not as keen about the breads. The community sandwich loaf is too plain for me and the sourdough breads are tame.

I went to the Mount Rainier location and ordered the drum plate with mac and cheese and collard greens; and I'm not exaggerating when I say this might be the best vegan soul food in the area. The drums were crispy with a one of one batter; I have never tasted anything like that before. Crunch on the outside, seasoned through, not greasy, just right. The mac and cheese redefined vegan; creamy, flavorful, and comforting without trying to imitate anything. It stood on its own. The collard greens took me straight back home; tender, seasoned properly, and full of soul. I also tried the ribs; and they were so good they honestly do not even need promotion. This is not good for vegan. This is just good. If you are in the DC area and craving real comfort food done plant based; Dodah's Kitchen needs to be on your list.

While I ate there with a friend, several people came in and stole stuff- we tried to tell the lady but she was too busy. Aggressive panhandlers also came in looking for food at first (which we gave them, and apparently they didn't like vegetables), and then asked for money, and we don't carry cash. But again food was great, but next time I'm going to take out. Such a shame because the window gives you such a nice view of the neighborhood.
