From the outside you might think this fancy restaurant is a small cafe, but once inside you''ll change your mind for sure: it's a big, nicely decorated restaurant with loads of atmosphere.... and the room that you though was a cafe is actually the waiting room.
Yes, it can be very crowded in this former cinema, and they don't take reservations for groups smaller then 8 persons. But, it's not too bad waiting at the bar... you're bound to see some pretty guys and gals waiting with you, and they serve drinks.. so you might even enjoy it.
The menu focuses on antipasti... but they also have some good pasta's and pizza's. It's a good idea to share some dishes with your friends so you can taste a lot. The food is pretty good, but not spectacular. Good enough though for a nice evening out... and that's the reason why you should go here in the first place. The food is not cheap but you can choose less expensive stuff and still have a good meal.
The crowd is young, has money, and looks good and all the waiters and chefs are Italian and act like it, so don't expect to have very good service. It's all part of the act though....
Enjoy!
Oh and don't forget the Sgroppino, they are known for having one of the best in Amsterdam. (A sgroppino is made by whipping together Italian Prosecco, lemon sorbet and vodka and is really delicious!) read more
