Would you come back?

Absolutely not! This is some of the worst restaurant food I've ever had in my life. Go to Annie's Cafe on Main Street instead.

We had seen The Belle's Bistro every time we went to the grocery store in Belle Plaine and always…read morewondered what the food was like. Last night, we happened to be in the area and wanted dinner, so we decided to pop in and see what it was about. It was GREAT. It's hard to believe that the building is a former McDonald's - you walk in and there are white linen tablecloths, fine glassware, candles, and little flower vases. It is definitely a fine dining experience. And then we had the food. My husband had the Smoky Porkchop with the citrus rice. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and the citrus rice was incredibly tasty (I stole a mouthful!). I had the chimichurri steak with the garlic mashed potatoes. The chimichurri is a little sweeter than a traditional Argentine chimichurri, but that was a good thing. It was different and unexpected, but it completely worked. Service was attentive and our waiter was very good. It is a family-owned business, and it's great to see the generations working together to make the restaurant run. Thank you to The Belle's Bistro for a wonderful weeknight dinner. We will be back for date night!

Wow what a find! Dinner review!!…read more The Bistro is delicious and the service is excellent! Quality and care in every detail - our new favorite stop on the 169 corridor! Not pictured - shrimp and calamari app... so good, it was gone before I was able to take a picture. The provide a cash discount (which I hate that restaurants have normalized this practice), but that's that.

Very poor. My husband was finally getting his appetite back after chemo and wanted to go to some…read moreplace special. Suzettes was close and we enjoy French food. This place was awful. The food was bad but he suffered through it because I was nagging him to eat more. I ate my dinner because I thought it would encourage him to eat. The seafood tasted old, the steak was cold and slimy. We both ate our food thinking the other person was enjoying their food. We should have said something to each other at the time. This morning my husband was nauseous and almost vomited when we were talking about the meal. I'm not the sort of person that complains about a bad meal, but this was one of the worst I've eaten. On top of all this, we did not feel welcomed. We will not go back.

I almost never leave restaurant reviews because I don't take things that seriously but this time, I…read moreabsolutely needed to clear something up and sincerely apologize for a misunderstanding. My boyfriend and I did visit Suzette's recently and had to leave early because I wasn't feeling well. It had nothing to do with the food just a personal health issue that, looking back, turned out to be a small blessing in disguise. Unfortunately, my sister happened to be on FaceTime during our visit, saw me getting sick, and assumed it was food poisoning. Without realizing the situation fully, she went ahead and posted a very negative review on our behalf. I was mortified when I found out because that review doesn't reflect our experience at all. To clarify: when we first arrived, I had to wait a bit only because my boyfriend was in the restroom not because of the staff. Once he was back, we were seated within minutes. Our server was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely sweet she even complimented my hair and helped us choose from the menu, suggesting some great dishes. The restaurant itself was beautiful so charming and coquette that I even took pictures and showed my sister the lovely carnations on the table. The food was different from what we usually eat, but it was by no means bad. My boyfriend finished his entire meal, and I would've finished mine too if I hadn't started to feel unwell for unrelated reasons. Having worked in the food industry myself, it really didn't sit right with me to see such a harsh review about a place and staff who did nothing wrong. If I hadn't gotten sick, we were actually planning to order dessert! So, I want to extend my sincerest apologies to Suzette's for the confusion and for any hurtful comments that were said. Your team treated us wonderfully, and I'm truly sorry for the mix-up. I've already removed that review and wanted to thank you for being so gracious and for sharing your little piece of France with us. My boyfriend, our little one ;) and I will definitely be coming back soon.

Went here for a spontaneous happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon and arrived just in time to put in…read morea happy hour order. This is a newer spot in Excelsior that opened summer 2025. Here's my review of the food we ordered: Cocktail of the hour - aka "Golden Hour" - 8.5/10 Reminded me of mulled cider, notes of honey, very refreshing Pork Belly Steam Buns - 8.1/10 Nice texture, very tender and flavorful Mini Banh Mi - 7/10 Not bad, would have preferred the more traditional pork filling Crispy Chicken- 8.7/10 This really surprised me, from appearance the chicken didn't look that special but it was well seasoned and the sweet chili glaze really stole the show and elevated this dish! Mirabelle Smash Burger - 8.9/10 I'm a sucker for smash burgers and this one did not disappoint. Nice crispy bun and a special mustard sauce that we enjoyed and a different flavor I don't usually have on my burger Sticky Ribs - 5/10 Unfortunately these were quite dry and was comparing to sticky ribs I had last week at CoV that were fall off the bone Overall good spot, service, atmosphere, and would be happy to return. Prices were also great for happy hour.

I wanted to like this place, I really did. But unless they get a different chef in the kitchen,…read morethis place is not going to make it.... Let's start with the positives! The location! Very close to the lake(walking distance) There is a free parking ramp right behind the building. The decor of this place is cute! The details seem like they were well thought out! It feels upscale and cozy! I saw a video of this place and that was what originally drew me in! The seating here is also comfortable and not over crowded. Our server was ok. I saw so many raves about the "amazing service." She did refill our water glasses, which was good because I needed it with the salty steak! Obviously the most important piece is the food. We started with the popovers. The taste was fine but the texture was almost over done. The honey butter was lacking honey flavor. Cinnamon would have really elevated the butter! I got the steak frites and my sister got the spaghetti. My fries were average. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium all the way through! I was impressed. However, it was drowning in a VERY salty sauce! I had push a lot of it off. This should be served on the side, not covering the whole steak. My sister got the spaghetti, which our waitress explained was not a regular spaghetti. I feel she has probably had to do that multiple times and honestly, it should just be renamed. It's confusing for the customer. My sister did say she enjoyed the dish and that the shrimp was ere done well. For dessert I got "Aunties iced latte" which is their version of like an espresso martini. It was just ok. Would not get again. We got the carrot cake which was good!! But then they ruined it by putting fake whipped cream.... This is supposed to be a higher end restaurant and that made the dessert feel so cheap. We also got the creme brûlée. DO NOT ORDER THAT! It is an absolute waste of money! The sugar top was so thick we couldn't eat it! The dessert had the consistency of scrambled eggs, not a smooth custard. The taste seemed ok, but whoever made this does not know what they are doing! Overall, the food was not memorable and a lot of it was done poorly. There are definitely better restaurants in the area.
