We visited this spot as part of a Family event, our annual visit to see the Reds. We weren't downtown this year and so 35 of us descended on this spot, where they had set us up in a private room. This is a gorgeous facility, with lots of history. As I had been driving all day, I didn't have an opportunity to partake in one of their featured applications, the distillery, but beer was not off limits, and their selection was outstanding. Service was great, which couldn't have been easy for a group our size. We were on a reduced menu, understandably, so in fairness, I'm not comfortable with where I landed on this component of the evening. The Biggest Letdown of Our Son's Wedding Weekend We chose Cincinnati Distilling Company for our son and daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner after months of planning and multiple meetings with their staff. We were excited about the venue and trusted the many specific assurances we were given. Unfortunately, the evening was an absolute disappointment from beginning to end. We were told the venue would be completely set up by noon. When we arrived, only one of six tables was dressed. My sister-in-law and niece had to dress the remaining tables and complete 51 place settings, while my son Josh, the best man, and my nephew Kyle, a groomsman, had to bring in and set up all of the chairs. They were drenched in sweat by the time they finished. They also had to move furniture themselves. The dessert and drink stations weren't set up, and our place cards weren't ready. We waited more than an hour for them, only to discover five were still missing. We were also told chargers would be provided, but didn't find out until we arrived that they weren't available. We were told the parking lot across the street would be reserved for our guests, but it wasn't. These weren't surprises or last-minute requests. These were details we had discussed in advance. The biggest disappointment was the speeches. We were specifically promised that the rooftop band would not play during our event and that we would have two handheld microphones using the venue's built-in sound system. Instead, the band played during our speeches, beginning around 7:00 p.m., and we were given a single stand microphone with a portable speaker. The audio was extremely low, and our guests could barely hear the speeches. The number one complaint we heard afterward was that they couldn't hear them. These were some of the most meaningful moments of the evening, and they cannot be recreated. There were other issues as well. The children's meals weren't entered correctly, and the younger children waited for their food. The appetizers purchased by the Mother of the Bride weren't served until after 9:00 p.m., and guests then had to wait even longer for the cheese that accompanied the pretzels. Our event ended at 10:00. At 7:54 p.m., while all of this was still unfolding, our event coordinator left for the evening. At the end of the night, we were also unable to retrieve our belongings from the locked galley for more than 15 minutes. What made all of this particularly frustrating was the lack of communication. When plans changed, we weren't told. We had to discover problems ourselves and figure out how to solve them in the middle of our son's wedding weekend. Afterward, I gave the venue an opportunity to address our concerns. Brittany apologized, acknowledged that many things had gone wrong, and told me she would speak with the owner. She then told me there would be no further adjustment beyond the $250 rental fee that had already been waived. I emailed the owner directly with a detailed account of our experience and asked for the opportunity to discuss it. I received no response. Our bill was over $3,000. To be clear, this review is not about expecting perfection. Events don't always go perfectly. It is about being promised specific things, having many of those commitments not fulfilled, having our family and wedding party spend valuable hours setting up the venue themselves, and then receiving no meaningful response when we explained what happened. There were many places we could have chosen for this important evening. We chose Cincinnati Distilling Company in part because the location was meaningful to our family. Nearly 30 years ago, my husband and I had our own rehearsal dinner there when it was the Millcroft. Knowing that makes our experience even more disappointing. Amber, the bartender, and the other two servers were wonderful and worked incredibly hard. Unfortunately, their excellent service could not overcome the many other problems we experienced. I would not recommend Cincinnati Distilling Company for a milestone event based on our experience. I sincerely wish our experience had been different. read more

I was invited by a friend to a tasting. And I have to say it is nothing like the bourbon trail in KY, it is a very unique experience and I really enjoyed it. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided a great tour and lots of tastings. I really enjoyed the tour, tasting, then we stayed for dinner. The food was very good as well. I will admit my favorite item of the meal was the burnt orange old fashioned it was completely yum. If everything else had gone wrong this would still be worth the 5 stars. Friday night date night! We put our reservation in for a table of 2 about a week before our night out. There were plenty of tables in the dining room when we arrived! Parking in this area can be a challenge on popular nights so plan a few extra minutes. Service was very standard, the manager walked around and checked on us mid-meal. Always nice to see them out and about. We tasted the red cream vodka .5 oz and it was delish, definitely the star of the night. My husband had a smoked whiskey and I had a fruity gin. Both tasted great but didn't have any affect. For dinner, I went simple with a salad and fries. Loved the fries but wish they weren't breaded for my gluten free husband. The salad was a salad so yay! Afterwards, we snuck upstairs (looooots of steps) for the live music only to find no seats. It gets pretty crowded so get there early! We ended up grabbing a DORA drink from the bar and left. This was our first time doing DORA and the bartenders explained it to us well! Overall, I didn't feel the cost met the experience but don't let that deter you! Arriving earlier to enjoy the music and/or heading straight upstairs is wise. I walked into this restaurant in Milford expecting "pretty good," but walked out believing they might actually be running some kind of flavor cartel. The crabcakes alone? Top 20 in Ohio, easy. I'm not exaggerating--if Ohio ever secedes, I want them to bring these crabcakes to the peace talks. The menu is a wild ride: casual comfort food on one side, upscale date-night choices on the other. Translation--you can stroll in wearing a hoodie, order steak that tastes like Wall Street money, and no one blinks. It's like being at a wedding where you don't have to dance. Then there's the staff. Amber and crew don't just take orders, they command respect. She's got that confidence of someone who knows both the menu and your weaknesses. She'll recommend a dish, you'll say "I don't know," and suddenly you're eating it and thanking her like she just negotiated your mortgage down to 2%. The whole team is that good--professional, attentive, but not the fake "hover over your bread basket" type. They're pros. The building itself? Feels like 1788 Milford with walls of ancient river stone. Honestly, I half-expected George Washington to be sitting in the corner, sipping bourbon, and telling me to order dessert. You get atmosphere, you get history, and unlike most "historic" places, you don't also get dust in your drink. The staff here is awesome! The food is amazing -- the pan seared salmon, (which is what I ate for dinner) and the black and blue burger, which my husband got were both very tasty. I've also never had such tasty deviled eggs before. We had our own table and a section of the restaurant by where they actually brew the alcohol and it was a very quiet, less crowded area of the restaurant. I would like to update my review. A month ago we were at the bar for a tasting and enjoyed it. The food menu looked so good that we booked reservations with our friends for dinner. We got there at 5:15 pm on a Saturday and they were super busy. However we were seated right away. I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. Their food menu is very simple. Starters, salads, main course and dessert. We started off with cocktails. Our table mostly got an old fashions and my Mr. ordered the manhattan. For dinner: -Fried Chicken (My Mr) -Catch of the day: Stripped Bass (for myself) -Pork Schnitzel (For my friend) -Filet Mignon (For my friend) We got our meals in 20 minutes and it was so worth the wait! I love the crunchy skin on the fish and sides paired well my stripped bass. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and the cocktails were a hit. After dinner my friends did two flights of bourbons tastings. Loved it so much that they ended up taking a bottle home from the gift shop. This started out as another case of "We really should check that place out some day" locations, until one day, we went fot it. Though just for drinks, to try their whiskey goodness, it was absolutely worth the stop and then some. In fact, I've already made reservations to have dinner here with my lady and some friends who are big bourbon fans too. Yep, we were that impressed. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. They have a pretty big dining area, a really cool bar area, and a nice bottle/gift shop. And they don't just do bourbon. They also make vodka, rum, American whiskey, flavored whiskey, and all sorts of liqueurs including absinthe. We sat at the bar and decided to indulge in two bourbon/whiskey flights. Here's what we had: -Ohio Straight Bourbon -Single Barrel Bourbon -High Rye Bourbon -Code 4 Blueberry Donut whisky -Camp Dennison -Rotating Cask edition: stout -Rotating Cask Edition: blackberry brandy -Peanut Butter whiskey We really enjoyed all of them, especially the single barrel, Camp Dennison, stout, and peanut butter. The blackberry brandy had the kind of nose you wish you could make into a candle. The bartender was very friendly too and super knowledgeable. Though we didn't try any food, we're absolutely looking forward to dinning with our friends here, and I'm certain they'll be impressed as well. This is a great spot for drinks and dinner for sure. They also do tours of the distillery but you have to make reservations. I definitely want to take a tour one day. Their bourbons and whiskey are certainly top-notch. From the moment we walked in, I could tell we were going to have a great experience. The host was so friendly and hospitable and chatted with us but wasn't overly chatty. Our server was helpful as my husband was trying to figure out which bourbons to order for a flight. He enjoyed the flight very much and my daughter loved her pomegranate cocktail. Our first time at Cincinnati Distilling was on Valentine's Day. Overall positive, but a few things were disappointing. The Caesar salads were pretty boring. Chopped romaine and a fistful of croutons. No shaved parmigiana and not much flavor. We asked about bread service, and were told they didn't serve bread? A little touch that adds to the experience for us. The bourbon glazed salmon was very well prepared. The glazed formed a crispy crust on the fish. The side of broccoli was steamed without any seasoning to speak of. Was staying in Milford over thanksgiving and saw this place while walking around. They were booked for dinning but they allowed us to order cocktails at the bar and take them upstairs to their gallery/museum. We enjoyed sipping our drinks as we looked at contemporary art from local artists as well as seeing some of the relics recovered during the renovation and restoration of the property into the distillery. I drank their on-tap old fashioned which is not how I typically like my old fashioned but it was good. It was sweeter than I like (I like a boozy old fashioned) but I'm sure other would be content with it. I am giving 4 stars only because I didn't have an opportunity to try the food. Great place-our first time. We were across the street and decided to give it a try. I tried the bourbon flight to get a feel for what they do and the Camp Denison Bourbon was so good I ended up buying a bottle to take home. We had a delicious meal and the service was excellent. My daughter had the strip steak with a Chimichurri sauce that she really loved. I had the lamb shank, which had been braised to perfection in a curry sauce that complimented it perfectly. Just stopped in for a quick afternoon drink. The host and bartender were both extremely friendly and welcoming. The food and drinks menu both look delicious. Lots of really great options. The first floor is beautifully decorated in what appears to be an old carriage house. We opted to take our drinks up to the rooftop patio. On our way up, we discovered the second floor is an art gallery, open to the public to peruse with your beverages and purchase art if you'd like. The third floor is the rooftop deck and a rum bar that is open after 4. We took the history tour and Dave was a wonderful guide...interesting, funny and extremely knowledgeable. The tour took well over the advertised hour and we appreciated not feel rushed. We enjoyed the tastings in different locations around the tour (especially the basement) while listening to Dave. Dave told us about a few of the ghost sightings, enough to get us interested in the Spirits with Spirits tour! After the tour, we had dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious. This is one of the more difficult reviews I've posted because we had the best of experiences, while at the same time one of the more disappointing. For the bourbon and our tour, I'd say 5 stars. For the food... I'd have to say - 1 star... hence 3 stars. We did a tasting tour and had a fabulous time. The bourbons and rum were all outstanding, and our experience was really good! Our host was great and learning about the history around the area and the distillery was tons of fun. We walked out with $300+ in liquor. We liked it that much! Then we sat for dinner and here's where things digressed. The service was once again outstanding. Our server was accommodating, patient and very helpful. But our food was just not good. We started with pretzel bites. The pretzels (Servattis) were good and the beer cheese delicious. But the pretzels were covered with rosemary - seriously - rosemary - and just tasted awful. Who puts rosemary on pretzels? Problem was, this was a sign of things to come... From my fries, to my daughter's filet, her asparagus, and mac and cheese, my other daughter's pork chop and her mac and cheese, every item on the menu we ordered was smothered with rosemary. If you LOVE rosemary, this is the place for you to eat. However, if you want good food without the pungent and overwhelming taste of rosemary covering your dish, this isn't the place for you - OR ME! I've eaten at restaurants across the region and the country and I've never experienced this herb so overused, so much in my life. My suggestion is go and enjoy their many outstanding spirits and great beers... with a great rooftop bar and very cool first floor bar, but go somewhere else for dinner. That is unless you LOVE rosemary... Oh... and ladies take a sweater or jacket. The place is a freezer box with overpowering cold air pounding down from above. It was 90+ degrees outside so too warm to go out... but even I was cold and I'm never cold! read more

As soon as you lay eyes on this place you'll quickly realize that the proprietors poured their hearts into every ounce of this place. There is a shop where you can purchase your favorite spirits, additionally a beautiful restaurant / bar complete with a short, yet wisely curated menu comprised of something for every palate. They even have an event space on the 2nd floor. AND ...last but not least, the third floor houses a spacious rooftop bar with views that boast why everyone seems drawn to downtown Milford these days. I've been here a few times for a drink, but finally dined here once I could get a reservation. Three of us had the cheeseburger and it's sized for a hearty appetite and they aren't stingy with the side of fries either. Also, the deviled eggs are loaded with flavor and a must for appetizers. We recently hosted our son and daughter-in-law's wedding rehearsal dinner at Cincinnati Distillery in Milford, Ohio. We worked with event coordinator Becky Pegoli. She walked us through our event from the area selection all the way through our menu options. Becky was available to answer every question we had and made suggestions as needed. We had several questions regarding the food options. Becky helped us pick out the perfect menu items for our group. Each food item selected was beautifully displayed in a buffet style that was easily accessible from the dining area. The food was exceptional. Our guests loved everything from appetizers, salads, entrees and the sides. All foods were kept warm for us throughout the evening. Each meal items was prepared well and was delicious.  Becky, her husband Tony and daughter Stella also served as our bartenders for the evening. They were fun and professional. When dinner was over, Becky boxed up leftovers and helped us get them down to street level so we could load them into our car. We highly recommend Cincinnati Distillery for your next event. Two of us went Friday for lunch at noon. The waiter was friendly and helpful. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with the bun on the side, and switched the fries to broccolini $16 The other order was for the harvest salad with tofu $17. The chicken was draped with cheese and was large, I brought half home. It came with a sweet spicy drizzle that was very good. Chicken was great. The broccolini was not my fav, the stems were too hard to cut with the knife and the florets were few, maybe a tablespoon in all. Very oily too. The salad was reported to be very good, as it should have been for $17. The place was not busy, the food arrived soon enough and the ambiance was nice. I even bought a bottle of Camp Dennison bourbon for $19, after discussing with the waiter. All in all, I would go back for lunch. read more
