Bartender said they bought Empress, but there must also be franchises, as there's one in Alexandria KY. Delicious recipe from 1922, - "the First Edition of a Cincinnati tradition." I went with the classic 3-way and it didn't disappoint. Brooke was very friendly. Definitely has a sports bar feel with 16 TV's. Rest of menu offers something for everyone. From the outside, I was a little wary. It's definitely hidden out of the way and wouldn't have found it had we not made plans to come here. Champions Grille is in a strip mall on the west side and truth be told, we don't venture out to this side of town much since for restaurants. Let me tell you, though, it's worth coming here! Definitely a sports bar kind of vibe, but we loved all the memorabilia on the walls and it feels quite homey - like a place you want to be and spend time in. There's lots of tv's on the walls all around and would definitely be a place to go for any given sports game day. We're already making plans to go back during football season! They have a great selection of beers and ciders on tap. Free popcorn (huge plus for us, we love some popcorn!) is available, which is great if you're here to have a drink and watch a game. We were able to get seated right away and our server was great. Super friendly and checked in with us throughout. We decided to try out Champions for Burger Week 2023 and glad we did! For burger week they had Champ Boy (1/3 lb beef burger topped with American cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles and homemade tartar sauce) and Sriracha Bourbon Burger (1/3 lb beef burger topped with provolone cheese, crispy onion straws, and a sriracha bourbon sauce). I went with the Champ Boy on a gluten free bun (something they always offer, yay!) and my husband got the Sriracha Bourbon Burger. I really enjoyed the Champ Boy and my husband said the Sriracha Bourbon Burger was really good and had a good kick to it. We also got a basket of tots to split between us, which were really tasty - perfectly cooked crispy. Hostess & server-great! Food-surprisingly great. Ambiance-fine, sports Bar-y. Dude outside on the patio with his 2 dogs off leash and the lady with him yelling at the dogs non stop-awful. We confirmed he was management too, I didn't even mind the dogs, the couple was the worst part. Also if someone is sitting at dinner, don't feel the need to yell across the patio asking what other burger week burgers they have tried. I feel bad for the staff trying to overcompensate for his drunk behind out back. Not sure we will be back unfortunately, but the food was really good for bar food. read more

This place has one good thing going for it- EMPRESS CHILI. For those of you who do not know, Empress was the OG of Cincinnati chili and they serve it here. This is a standard Westside bar with some decent bar food. You can find this near Big Lots in the shopping nook on the hill between Glenway Ave and Werk Rd. If you want to drink liquor at a good price in a bar and talk sports-this is your spot. If you want a burger with that just grilled flavor and beer for lunch-this is your spot. If you want are particular about items "on the side" or only partake of certain types of drinks- you will want to look elsewhere. The chili here is seriously the best! read more

I've been meaning to try this place for a while, and I'm glad I finally made it out there! First off, it's a little hard to find - it's almost camouflaged in a strip mall, but it's in the same strip as a Big Lots. My reason for trying this place is because it has NTN Buzztime Trivia (the little blue game boards). This one is definitely one of the better places to play - a lot better than going to a B-dubs. I was only one of two playing when I was there (most people were interested in the ballgame), but I noticed that the top players' scores were pretty high, so I'm guessing they have some regulary NTN players. They have a create your own burger things, with a little sheet that you can fill out all the details - it was pretty cool. The burger selection is nice - I ordered a Turkey Burger, but they have veggie too so that all can enjoy! I wouldn't suggest choosing scallions thought...it just wasn't the greatest. There's an outdoor area, but I think everyone escapes out there to smoke - don't say I didnt' warn you. And TVs line virtually the entire perimieter of the bar - I counted 19 large flat screens!!! And perhaps best of all - they have Goose Island 312 on tap! Awesome - you don't see that everyday! read more

Tons of TVs, cheap beer, friendly staff and decent cheap bar food (they even a hand-pattied veggie burger on their menu) It's clean, plenty of beer options/specials draft and bottle, and a full bar. My go-to when I'm in Cincinnati and want to watch a game that's not on local TV. This is their newer location, the old building is torn down now I believe. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's a little tucked away and can be hard to find for the first time. The address is on Werk but it's easier to access from Glenway right next to the Wendy's there's a road that goes uphill to the shopping center. Overall had a great experience. We went here for the Crosstown Shootout. It was packed so I recommend for any game to arrive early. We tried the onion strings (yum). They were light enough to be a great appetizer before dinner. After than it was the wings. I got boneless medium (could have done hot but they still tasted great) and the boy got bone in BBQ (they looked burnt but oh boy they were delish!). Beer specials galore...we paid 2.50 for talls. It was rather loud but kind of expected. It's not some huge bar so I can't really complain and say anything bad about that aspect. They do have a ton of tvs which I'd say is perfect for watching sports considering it was a packed house. PS. I don't know her name but the blonde with the bob hairstyle was phenomenal. Absolutely horrible service. We've frequented this location for many years and are usually there at least once if not twice a week. This past year the service and food quality has declined drastically. Most nights there is only one waitress running the floor ( I completely understand the industry and have always been patient) The last several visits our food has been wrong and subpar. You will find the bar manager and a guy with a towel, who you think would help but instead both just sit there drinking beer all night together. I am thankful for those that do cook and serve so I do not have to, but I will not be going back to this place. read more

I checked out Champions during the Yelp Eats! special. I was excited that a place on the West Side was involved in Yelp. Normally the West Side is pretty insular, so it was a nice surprise to see Champions on the Yelp Eats list. The location can be a bit confusing as Alex S. mentioned. Hopefully they will get some signage up soon. If not, just look for the signs for the Pirate's Den and you'll find it. We also got the stuffed mushrooms and buffalo chicken dip for appetizers. The stuffed mushrooms were not great, pretty bland really, but the buffalo chicken dip was a nice surprise. Not too spicy and not over-powering with buffalo sauce. I love the idea of a build-your-own burger option. They have tear-off sheets that you fill out with all the options you want. And there were a TON of options. I would start reading and filling out, only to find new and more exciting options, so I'd scrap that sheet and tear off a new one. This happened about three times before I finally made a decision. Unfortunately, the burger came out over-cooked, and only then did I realize that the server never asked us how we wanted our burgers cooked. Luckily I had selected so many awesome toppings that the end result was still pretty good. I'll mention this last thing, just in case it is an on-going problem. The AC was not working too well when we went. It wasn't unbearably hot, but it was definitely warm in there. With the heat wave we've been having, I figured their AC was just having a hard time keeping up. Hopefully that issue is temporary. I'm glad that Yelp included a west side establishment, I just wish it had wowed me a little more. read more

Champions new location off of Werk Rd is stellar! Just the right amount of space so that it feels like there's always a crowd, but not too small, so that you are fighting for room! Their bar is long and has plenty of seating and with their great draught beer selection and AMAZING happy hour prices ($2 big beers) you will be happy to park your butt for a while and enjoy the game. The food is typical bar food, but their buffalo chicken dip appetizer and build your own burger really stood out to me, plus they offer FREE popcorn while you wait or just to munch along side your beer. This new trend is my favorite thing taking off in Cincy, offer me popcorn and I'm sold! I've been a few times and the only thing holding me back from more stars are the TV's. They are just hung too high and some of the seats are facing directly into a wall, so you have no entertainment except the person across from you. You'd better hope their conversation is engaging! I've never been able to make it through an entire game here, because my neck starts cramping up from having to look up too long. Hang those TV's a few inches lower and I'm sold! read more

I tried the veggie burger after reading so many reviews about how they make their own and was sorely disappointed to get what was obviously a defrosted Morning Star Farm black bean burger, which I like but it's obviously not home made. Average bar food. Prices are reasonable and a good place to watch any sports, the new tv's above the bar are a great addition. The beer taps can be spotty especially in the summer when the lines from outside get hot and cause the taps to pour all foam. read more

Stopped here on my way back home to Texas when I needed a place to watch the World Cup final. I had an absolutely delicious pot roast sandwich and onion straws. The other food that I saw on other tables also looked very good. They have some good drink specials as well. For example $2 bud and bud light pints during televised reds games as well as several happy hour specials. If I lived in the area I would definitely be a regular here! read more

Went here 11/26/17 after a tournament with my daughter's volleyball team. We all ordered at the same time and were told it would be about 30 minutes for our food to arrive because of the volume of orders (we were a large party), and that was fine. When the food did start arriving, it was very spread out. Many people in our party were finished eating before others even received their food! I'd love to be able to tell you how the Buffalo Chicken Wrap was, but unfortunately it never arrived, and neither did the wrap another parent at my table ordered. We asked our waitress about this several times, all she did was apologize and tell us it was coming. It never came, even after everyone else was finished eating and ready to leave. The other parent and I ended up canceling our orders and eating nothing. The only response we received was our waitress apologizing again and promising we wouldn't be charged for the food we never received. Really? I guess I should be grateful for that? Champions seems to have some pretty severe service issues. Not once during the visit did our waitress offer to go get the manager, and no manager appeared to be on duty or ever spoke to us. Despite knowing full well they had two unserved and very angry customers, NOTHING was done about it. Customer service here is obviously not a priority. They even still charged me the $2.50 for my Pepsi...I mean you have to be kidding me, after watching the rest of my party eat dinner around me while waiting for food that never arrived, they can't even be bothered to comp a soft drink. Champions can continue to not charge me for food I won't be receiving for as long as they like, as I will not be returning. Too much competition along Glenway to bother with a place that treats customers so poorly. read more
