We had a great time at Northside. It's was a small simple place, but the product they are selling…read moreis small batch and solid. At the very least you should stop in for a tasting if you're in the area. Our server was friendly, talkative and well versed in their product. He told me they distill in-house and most of their barrel aging takes place in a nearby family barn. (Could be wrong about this, but it sounds about right). Our tasting was of five different spirits for around $12. I sampled bottle pours of their Limited Release Braille Bourbon, Bourbon, Single Barrel Bourbon, 3 month old Oak Barrel aged Gin and a two year Añejo Tequila straight from a barrel in the back. He also poured a splash of their Vodka and included a taste of their American Agave Tequila. I thought the winner taste wise was the Añejo Tequila. I'm not much of a Tequila person, but I thought the flavors were outstanding. Their bourbons were smooth, simple (don't quote me but I think he said aged seven years) and around $65 a bottle. The gin was light and smooth. I would say most of what I tried would be good for cocktails, but they weren't bad at all served neat. We were the only ones in there for awhile on a Friday afternoon, but once work let out some thirsty folks came in. Check these guys out and support them if you can. Well worth the tasting and conversation! Thanks again guys!!

I went the last day (Saturday 6/14) near close (~6:45/7p). The two tastings I got were the rum (rum…read moredrinker for life!) which was rather good and sharp taste; and the agave which was very sweet and smooth! I got a Northside sunrise (tequila sunrise) which definitely hit the spot. I'll definitely hit this place up on weekends! Also, found out that they can't technically call it tequila because it wasn't distilled in Mexico! Never knew! One thing the I would recommend would be to reach out to Bar Crawl USA or other bar crawls that frequent downtown Cincinnati and add their place to the list! Also, they allowed my dog (service dog) in, which was perfect because at the time, there were a handful of people there...but if there were a lot, I think it would be a different story But overall, LOVED it!

Been eyeing Pensive for a couple years and finally made it out this week with my Wife. We're eager…read moreto find a top-tier burger place in the area, though unfortunately this fell a little short of our expectations. Decided to split the Silver Charm for an appetizer, and it came about ten minutes later. The onion rings were decent, good flavor and somewhat crispy. The accompanying sauces of barbecue and ranch were both good as well, though both were missing something to elevate them a bit more I think. The flavor was good, but quite a small portion for $10. My wife ordered the Strike the Gold Burger and I went for the Northern Dancer Crispy Chicken. The sandwiches came out about ten minutes after we finished the Silver Charm, which was perfect timing. She liked her burger pretty well, and I took a bite too. The "caramelized onions" were definitely more sauteed, with still a bit of crunch, and otherwise I could really only taste the barbecue sauce, which was tasty, but I would have liked some more varied flavors. My chicken sandwich was... a bit disappointing. Rather than a chicken piece that appropriately fit the bun, it was more of a chicken strip, with bites that would only yield bun. In addition, because the chicken piece was so small, it was also extremely dry, which is a bummer because I actually thought the breading was very tasty. The chipotle aioli was decent, but didn't pack as much spice or flavor as I was hoping. And with only two toppings and a sauce on the whole sandwich, I was disappointed that the tomato was rather mushy and didn't seem fresh. I will say the fries that came with our sandwiches were crisp and well seasoned, and somewhat unfortunately the best part of my meal. Based on our experience, I didn't hate our dinner here and if someone invited me to meet them here, I wouldn't say no, but I'm also not going out of my way to revisit.

Burgers were excellent at Pensive Distilling. My fiancé and I both really enjoyed our meals. We…read moreordered at the bar and the service was great. The bar is small and cozy, with a really nice vibe. My only complaint, which so some people would not be a problem, is that our drinks were too boozy. They tasted only like alcohol and nothing else - they were completely off balance to a point where I couldn't really drink mine. Will go again for the food at least.
