This story I'm about to tell you is true. I will try to keep it short for the readers sake. My friend and I have been to Chivas many times. The staff was always friendly and helped us with any cigar questions we had. Chivas has a pretty good selection to chose from and their prices are good as well. If you spend at least 10 bucks here they invite you to stay and smoke your cigar there in the shop. While you smoke they have TVs for you to watch or chess boards so you can play a game of chess. On this particular day my friend and I both bought some cigars and were about to leave when a couple of older Italian guys asked if we wanted to play them at a game of chess. Since we had no where to be at the time we decided to play. Once seated these tricky older men talked us in to playing for money. At the time we had no cash on us. Well after only ten minutes my friend and I had both been beat. We told them we had no money and in a flash a bunch of other Italians came from out of thin air, dragged us around back and beat the daylights out of us. OK so most of this story is false. Chivas is a cool shop, the staff is great, you can watch TV and play chess, and my friend and I did get out butts handed to us by two older gentleman in a game of chess. No we did not play for money and I'm not even sure if they were Italian. I just wanted my story to sound better. Sorry for leading you all on. read more

I've stepped in here a few times to purchase cigars, parking can be a pain but then again it is close to old town. I've recently starting looking at nicer cigar cutters and torches, I've finally decided on going with some Xikar pieces. I was exciting to see the Xikar display case right next to the humidor, unfortunately the pricing was way over what Xikar shows on their website. I was shocked that a 40.00 lighter was listed at 69.99! Cigars seemed pricier than other locations I've been to but I'm sure you'll find something in your budget. I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here. I was so disappointed I expected to walk in there and purchase a nice Xikar Cutter and lighter, instead I left with nothing and will take my hard earned cash to another more reasonably priced establishment. read more

Wow. What can I say? Sunday afternoon, cigars, and wife is at the nail salon. So true: story last sunday I walk in and yes I've been there several times but this last time just really made me want to be back there all the time. So anyways, the gentleman that works, Erny, there striked a conversation with me and boy we could not stop. We talked about Politics, Sports, History, we even sang some "Blue Majic" ... Oldies for those of you who know not what real music is.. By far I believe that if this employee can correct me in history what else can this guy do. (I am a history teacher @ CSU, LA) Best thing that happened too, was we started to sing some oldies. I mean WHO LISTENS TO OLDIES ANYMORE!!! HOW AWSOME!!! and he is only 22. It's hard to find a good cigar shop in Pasadena. My husband and I came across this place one day when we were hanging out at Rocco's. We decided to come in on a Friday night a few weeks ago after dinner and weren't too impressed. I'm not a huge cigar smoker, but will have one every now and then. The selection is pretty good, however a tad pricey. I guess that comes with the location. I feel like the place lacks ambiance and charm. When we walked in, we were the only ones in there. None of the ash trays had been emptied out from prior customers. I'm not sure why they have carpet if smoke will absorb it with noticeable burn marks. It's completely silent in there. I'm not asking for a DJ or anything, but even if it's extremely low, some background music or noise would be better. It was super eerie just sitting there in total silence. The guy who helped us didn't seem too attentive. We ordered a few sodas, as they don't sell alcohol (boo!) and sat around and smoked a few more stogies. I had to use the bathroom, and the guy told me I had to go across the street and use it and a restaurant. Not cool. I guess it's an okay place to stop by, have a cigar and leave. I don't see that as a place I would hang out for more than 20 minutes. read more

I have been to this store a half dozen times and this last visit was...well, my last. The cigars are always rancid, over priced, the customer service is anything but professional or courtious. Also, they could use a better ventilation system to clean the nasty ashtrash smell from of the indoor air. I am surprised that cigar smokers think this place is worthy of a higher score. If so, well, you must not know your stogie. There are better cigar shops around the area that offer a more enjoyable cigar experience. This is not one of them! read more

This is the cutest cigar shop I've ever been to. It is not only nice in decor but it is well kept inside and out. This shop has a very spacious and large humidifier room. i thought the guy did a stupendous job! granted, i know nothing about cigars, but i wanted to gift my ever deserving bro-in-law with some quality tobaccy. he walked me through a few different options, always staying mindful of my budget. yes, the smoke as you walk in is overpowering, but its really not so bad within the humidifer, which is where i went to seek refuge. this nice mist comes out every so often to coat the cigars. i ended up spending about $40 on my bro in law, and i know he enjoyed them with his buddies. the man was nice enough to give me a fancy box and bag! thank you sirs of cigars by chivas! read more

Nice spot to lounge when your in the hustle of Old P. Stepped in looking for the Arturo Fuentes Anejo #77. All the Anejos flew off the shelves at my local spot. They had a good assortment with a noticeable mark up. But that's the way supply and demand works. I would definitely come back if I was in the area. read more

Had a great time at CIgar By Chivas, stopped by after enjoying UCLA kick Virginia's ass this past Saturday at the Rose Bowl. Chivas humidor has a solid selection of quality sticks, prices are a bit high but this is typical considering the location. I just ran in to grab a couple sticks to smoke with friends at their home. They had a small walk in humidor that was well stocked. Its downtown Pasadena pricing which was no surprise. The gentlemen there was very pleasant and asked if we had questions, we did not. Grabbed some sticks and rung out. The place looked nice, clean and well organized.
