As a long time cigar aficionado there are a number of things that bring me pleasure when smoking a cigar. Number one of course are the aesthetics of how it looks and then even before you light it, how it tastes in your mouth. After all it's about taste. Then the other particulars go into play, where and what capa is the cigar wrapped in, as well as the binder and filler since they all provide a flavor profile. Having said all that my experience at Mursuli was exceptional. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Their walk in humidor houses a wide variety of sizes, types and shades. Their prices are exceptional. My usual is a Padron Series 1964 Belicoso and although the 52 ring 4" cigar that were purchased are not to the standard of such a high end cigar, but it was very flavorful. A nice even ash is always a tell tale sign of a good roll and these burned evenly throughout the smoke. Overall great pricing, service and flavor. read more

I emailed Oscar about the availability of certain vitolas, Oscar responded within 24 hours, submitted my order, order was shipped the next business day, arrived in two days. Shipped as requested and USPS did their job. Perfect humidity. I'm a fan of thinner cigars, 36 to 42 ring gauges. The large manufactures are focusing on 50 and larger, Mursuli has a varsity cigar in these thinner vitolas. My first visit to this shop was a few days ago, I met some YouTubers doing some type of promotional video. As posted in other comments, they mainly sell their private label cigars with reasonable prices. The selection is decent, they offer a cigar size for every taste and post the price, size, and strength. The walk in humidor is small, maybe big enough for three to stand. The comfortable lounge area is maybe large enough for 8-10 clients. I selected a lancero for $5, the sign said it was medium strength but to me it was mild. Unfortunately, this was not a good cigar, it burned uneven, I had to relight it at least 4 times because of uneven construction, and there was no complexity/flavor. This shop is a good choice for those new to cigars because of their prices and milder smokes. read more

Quality cigars hand-rolled right here in the SGV - who would have thought? MC is family-operated boutique cigar store that only sells their own label. They have a small walk-in humidor and, over the past two years, I've enjoyed their various maduros and naturals. You won't find other brands and it's really just a shop rather than a lounge (although they have a flatscreen and a few seats). I've walked in a few times when the rollers were working behind the counter - where else would you see this except on some plantation in Nicaragua! This unassumming place sells only it's locally rolled product. The cigars are fresh. The prices are reasonable. The people are nice. So why only 3 stars? Because, my friends, the quality of the tobacco used to create the final product is not particularly good. We tried some $7 double coronas and were disappointed. Uneven burn. Inconsistent filling. Much too spongy. And most importantly - lacking much flavor. Getting a freshly made cigar is a fun and unique experience in most places these days - but I want more than just a unique experience - I want a good smoke, too. If you are headed out to Santa Anita and want a cigar for the track - detour here and grab a fresh cigar for your day at the races. But IMHO this is not a place to come to fill up your home humidor. I was in El Monte on business and decided to stop here. Got their Maduro Toro for 5.75. Delicious. Spicy and smooth. I'm a woman and I was helped by a great guy and treated with respect. I bought a 5 cigar sampler to take home and taste the whole range. It came to about $25. That's a bargain. It's VERY hard to find hand rolled cigars for this price. I lived in Pasadena for a long time. It was where I really got into cigar smoking.There are quite a few good cigar shops there so it was easy to go get my fix. After I moved to San Gabriel which is only 5 miles away but I wanted to find a local shop to get my sticks. There are few small places locally but most of them feel more like a liquor store with a walk in humidor and now a cigar shop. After searching online, I found Mursali. It is more of boutique store. You can't buy your favorite brand (Drew Estate being mine) but rather you get hand rolled (they are rolling them right in front of you) cuban seed beauties of their own brand. They have several different varieties and most of them are very reasonably priced. I am big fan of of their smokes and have been going there the past year. Trust me, if you are around the area and enjoy a good smoke at a great price, Mursuli is a must try. read more

I can understand slight differences...but the same cigar to have major different flavors each time!?! 2. I don't understand selling direct and charging your local community smokers premium prices! I believe the shop is theoretically open on weekends from 9-5, but I've also driven by around 4pm on several Sundays and it's been closed, so I'm not sure. My route home from work takes me past and I've never seen them open on a weekday. The website doesn't say, which is weird, but I suspect their bread-and-butter is the rolling at parties action. Prices fall between the internet houses and your local high-overhead tobacco shop or cigar bar. I've had a few delicious torpedoes at the upper end of their price range (about eight dollars), but had bad experiences with the cheaper stuff. Last time I was there, I bought a dozen in the $2.50 price range that were absolutely terrible. They were almost the only ones in the bin, so no doubt that was a clue to their state.
