Fresh salad and fresh pizzas. Very clean restaurant. Asked us if we wanted a special order. Great team running the evenings.

Compared to when I was growing up, this place lacks it's awesomeness. I honestly expected more, but it wasn't unbearable, so okay..

I tried the cod, the chopped steak And charro beans. The cod was cold, the steak was luke warm And beans had a salty weird after taste. New hot pan of cheese enchiladas were brought out, I got 3 and could only eat 2 1/4. Too much veleta like cheese. 2nd piece of cod just as cold. Pineapple chunks and Watermelon little colder than Luke warm. The entire time there were flys landing on the buffet. (Cold and hot). There were NOT a lot of flys but enough to make it noticeable. After more people came in (closer to noon) the fly swatter was put away. Upon entering, it was noticed that Christian music was being played through the sound system. One employee stood out who's back of shirt read "Made in Hell". Really? Why allow him to walk around swatting flys in a restaurant playing music that honors Jesus wearing that shirt?? Even though my stomach got full, I probably won't be back. Had to ask for my drink that I paid for even after having water brought to my table. When the Waitress refilled my drink the 2nd time it was Not what I was drinking. Not sure warmers and coolers are working or if they are even warmers or coolers.

Edith's Mexican Buffet is located on N. Cage Blvd. in Pharr, Texas, along the I-69C access road…read more You'll find it on the west side just south of Nolana, between the Red Roof Inn and Volvo Trucks. Open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Edith's offers a reasonably priced, home-style Mexican breakfast and lunch buffet. The restaurant also has locations in downtown Edinburg and in Mission, which reflects strong support and confidence from local customers. This was my first visit to Edith's. The exterior of the building appears recently updated, though parking can be limited during peak hours. Be aware that parking on the hotel side of the divider will result in towing. While signs are posted on the restaurant door, an additional sign on the divider itself would be helpful. Street parking is not available. I remember when this space housed a pancake-house-style diner, and much of the same furniture is still in use. Some booth upholstery shows wear and a few small tears, though the seating remains comfortable. The breakfast buffet features a wide variety of traditional Mexican favorites: several styles of scrambled eggs, beans with or without chorizo, fried potatoes prepared plain, with chorizo, or a la mexicana, chilaquiles, hash browns, huevos rancheros, cheese in salsa, menudo, oatmeal, fresh fruit, and more. Our server, Soraya, was especially friendly and took our drink order as well as requests for eggs cooked to order. Pancakes and waffles are also available upon request. My eggs arrived promptly and were cooked perfectly over medium. The iced tea is offered sweetened or unsweetened. Although I was told the sweet tea was freshly brewed, it did not taste fresh to me and had a hint of lime. Soraya kindly replaced it with unsweetened tea at no extra charge, which was clearly fresh brewed and excellent. Corn tortillas are warmed, while the flour tortillas are freshly made--definitely the better choice in my opinion. Overall, the food was very good. The guisos, potatoes, bacon, beans, and chilaquiles all had solid flavor without being greasy. The chilaquiles were slightly dry on their own, but adding queso in salsa verde made them just right. Some bacon pieces were less crispy than I prefer, though it was easy to select the more well-done pieces. I enjoyed my breakfast and would gladly return. I noticed that some reviewers complained about Christian music playing in the background, but during my visit the music remained subtle and did not interfere with conversation. Personally, I enjoyed it. I look forward to returning to try the lunch buffet, especially the chile rellenos--one of my favorites--along with the many other guisos they offer.

The food was okay nothing to rave about but, we found a hair in one of our dishes. Gross I know! The woman wanted to charge us half of the dish but he was so disgusted that he didn't finish we were not gonna pay for a dish with a hair in it. Please be careful while you eat your food here.

There are large screen TVs on 2 of the walls and you can actually hear the program that is airing. I liked that the audio was not muted and that the program was kind of interesting (no Fox News!) I didn't spend much time looking at the menu so I cannot comment on prices. I did see that the selection included the usual dishes. I had the buffet instead. The buffet had an interesting mix of Mexican and American dishes: chalupas (meatless), 2 kinds of fajitas, sliced smoked sausage with sauteed onions and peppers, meatloaf, picadillo con papas, instant mashed potatoes, peas & carrots, onion rings (similar to those that come in a red & yellow bag from the freezer case), quesadillas, chiles relleños (filled with picadillo con papas), cheese enchiladas, Mexican rice, 2 types of pinto beans (a la charra and refritos), 2 types of caldo (chicken and beef), liver & onions and a cold area with fresh fruit and basic salad ingredients. The waiter will also bring you hot tortillas if you like, offering your choice of flour, corn or a mix. I tried a variety of dishes and was surprised that almost all lacked salt and seasoning. The food looked fresh but...had so little flavor. I'm not usually one to salt my food at the table, either at home or at a restaurant. But I had to salt my food here (except for the meatloaf) because it otherwise was bland. Also, I could not spot any ketchup. Some people like it with their onion rings and meatloaf, perhaps other food too. The caldo was oily and without flavor. If you want fresh lime wedges (which really are standard at most local Tex-Mex restaurants) you must ask for them, they are not available even with the fruit at the salad bar. The service was good. The tableware given by the waiter consisted of a single fork rolled inside a paper napkin, no knife or spoon. If you need them, you get your own from the holder near the buffet. The dishes are the same boring tan-colored melamine that so many places use. Payment is at the end of your meal, at a station near the door. One lunch buffet and one drink, plus tax cost almost $10.00. So will I go back? Nope, not when Taco Fiesta is just across the street. If you wonder how business compares between the two neighboring restaurants, consider this: Taco Fiesta is so busy at lunchtime that they have a man driving a golf cart to ferry customers to and from their cars in the church parking lot nearby. Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I won't hesitate to dine at Taco Fiesta.

I'm told the prices were changed but only at the register and DoorDash or anywhere else they have their prices posted was not to be honored. Regardless of what was stated everywhere else. It's a bummer but whatever. I know better next time to eat elsewhere where the prices are actually the prices posted. Other than that the place is quiet and calm. The person who took my order was nice and polite. [ P.s it seems to be a normal thing that happens there via the reviews here so I won't be going back. The chips were fresh and warm, but sadly the salsas didn't seem fresh. The food took way too long for the place not being busy. The botana for one was supposed to be mixed beef and chicken and came with only beef which tasty old and beefy. Gross. Luckily we also decided to try the carne guisada taco plate and that was pretty good. Didn't care for the rice and beans. The flour tortillas were good at least. The prices were pretty high. Even if the food has been perfect, the prices are too high. It's even worse when half of the food was taken home in a doggy bag for my actual dogs. Had wanted to try their breakfast buffet, but after seeing the dismal offerings on their dinner buffet, I think I'll pass! The decor is pretty old and outdated, but it's got a homey old time vibe that I'm sure the regulars enjoy.
