This may sound a bit strange but of all those aquariums I enjoy the Shreveport aquarium the most. It's just a enjoyable place to chill out and recharge. When we visit massive, hundred million dollar aquariums, we are often herded through the exhibits with hundreds of people. It is hard to truly enjoy an aquarium in that type of environment. Plus, how many fish do you really want to see? At the Shreveport aquarium my wife and I will often sit in the first opening gallery for 10 or 15 minutes. Soft instrumental music is playing and the fish are gingerly pecking at a coral reef or playing with one another. If a loud child and family comes in all you have to do is wait about 90 seconds and they will pass through. Enjoy their excitement and sense of wonder. We can also spend 10 minutes at the Shark Tank and another 10 or 15 minutes with the stingrays. Most of the other exhibits we view a little more quickly. Sometimes a staff member is eager to tell you about a new addition or some type of exciting aquatic behavior. This is a small aquarium, but what it has, it does very well. If you go, take the time to pause and chill out an among the hundreds of finny creatures. This is a different type of aquarium experience. Check the website for feeding times. My wife and I each have an annual pass which cost $50 a year each. It is well worth it.

If you're anywhere near Corpus Christi go to the Texas State Aquarium. That is what a true aquarium should be, and it's by far the most fun and worth every dime! This is a place for toddlers in our opinion. The highlight was hand feeding rays. That's it, didn't ruin our trip thanks to the rest of the cool places around! Don't waste your time or money here.

Although the go-kart track is in decent shape and the karts themselves run well, the rock climbing wall sits in direct sunlight all day, leaving it way too hot for the tiny hands that want to use it. Similarly, there isn't enough tree cover over the mini-golf area to combat the hot south Arkansas sun, which detracts from the experience immensely. Their saving graces seem to be the pricing, which is extraordinarily inexpensive, and the fact that they are essentially the only game in a town woefully deficient in fun activities for kids. All in all, I wouldn't warn you not to go, but I will say you should definitely bring some gloves and pack your sun screen.

Counselors know everybody's name, there are horses, zip lining, ropes course, waterfront, archery, riflery, water front, and a ton of other things that are really entertaining. It's huge but you can find your way pretty easily, the cabins are old but it's fun because it's kind of a throwback and the counselors are super entertaining, and as for the things removed, it's still fun, even without NOLA roasts, Non-Or Campers, etc. It encourages activity and fun and has so many choices of what to do. I have a favorite horse, she's very nice and most of the horses are great too. All in all I love this camp very much (also it's a great break from tech) and it's the one place where I can fall asleep with melatonin (it tires you out in a good way) and my anger issues get a lot better here because it's very calming. As for the price, I think if you can afford it you should DEFINITELY have your kid come here. It's near Shreveport, Louisiana but if you live somewhere too far to drive (i.e. a kid lives in Vegas) then you can fly and they'll pick you up at the airport and get you over on a bus. 10/10 recommend. The people there are not very well trained in the activities they are supposed to teach. The camp looks as if it hasn't been updated since the 60's. The cabins are falling apart and have many cracks where bugs find their way in. Two years in a row my cabin was infested with spiders. The last time I went the cabin flooded with the smallest amount of rain and there was an ant problem. The workers there have a problem with favoriting certain campers. The food is cheap and frankly very bad. You are never able to tell if you are eating fish patties or chicken ones(not an exaggeration). Ever heard of Sysco? Because that is all you eat. The cheapest and lowest quality food I have ever seen/ate. The councilors are very young themselves and are not old enough to be responsible for your 6+ year olds. Don't get me wrong, it used to be okay. Until, they got a new head director who is not one to pass down little traditions that made Camp Fern what it was. Anything that people found joy in was removed; non-honor campers, Nola roasts, some camp songs, ect. If you haven't gone to this camp you wouldn't understand. In conclusion, this camp is not for you unless you want to waste money to get the cheapest quality of everything. These people only care about your money, not your experience.
