Risotto

Firstly, atmosphere and service are excellent. It's rare to see a restaurant of this size with all the hustle and bustle. The food was very good and flavorful. We had the call Maria's appetizer (which is fried nicely and tasted amazing). We then had chicken Parmesan and the risotto which were good. Risotto could have been a little more flavorful but still worth a try. Overall, recommend a visit.

We came here for dinner and had requested patio seating in our reservation notes. When we arrived, we were seated inside even though there were several open tables on the patio, which was a little disappointing. Our server was friendly, but she did accidentally bring the wrong wine, and overall the service was just okay. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest letdown. We ordered the caprese salad, chicken parmesan, and halibut, and while everything was cooked well enough, none of the dishes really stood out. The flavors felt pretty flat, and there wasn't anything that made us say, "Wow, I need to order this again." For the price point, I expected much more. The restaurant itself has a classic Italian atmosphere which made the disappointing meal even more surprising. We had planned on ordering dessert, but after our mains we decided to skip it and head elsewhere. Overall, I really wanted to love Ciao Bella, but the food just didn't live up to the reputation or the price. There are several Italian restaurants in the Twin Cities I'd choose before coming back here.

Came here on a date night and absolutely loved it! There is a large parking lot with free parking! There is a patio area outside and PLENTY of inside seating! We were greeted when we first came in and sat quickly as we had reservations. Our server was AMAZING!! I truly wish I could remember his name because it's been a while since we have had service THAT good! He was attentive, explained the menu, and had good small chat! The managers here also check on our table and that was appreciated! The ambiance here was clean, felt upscale and cozy. The food here was fabulous! Make sure you get the bruschetta!!! All of the desserts also looked very good! The pasta was out of this world good! We did go out of the box and got a steak. The steak was supposed to be medium, but was not medium all the way through. It did taste good though! If you are looking for a nice spot to have a date, this is definitely a solid spot!

Lindsay gave great advice! Presentation is everything. Clearing the horsd'eouvres quickly counts! Bringing sharing plates before the meal comes also helps! New silverware and clean plates for bread helps. If only the noise level was manageable.

Ciao Bella is notoriously busy on any given night. So my girlfriend and I met for an early dinner but by the time we left the bar was standing room only. The bread was delicious and my entree was outstanding. It's a pricey joint but well worth it IMO. Parking was easy and dessert my favorite crème brûlée had a nice sugar top to it.

I met up for dinner with some friends recently. My first time at this restaurant, surprised how big the restaurant is. Huge dining room and patio on the side. Plus a beautiful bar in the front and the brick pizza oven in the middle. Server was very nice and checked on us often. Along with few other servers that came to collect empty plates on the table or refill beverages. Food was delicious, I will say the red sauce is better than the white sauce.

A convenient go‑to for casual business syncs. Caio Bella delivers exactly what I need when I'm meeting someone for a quick work catch‑up: consistently great service, a friendly team, and a menu with enough solid options to keep everyone happy. It's easy, it's comfortable, and it always has the right vibe for a productive conversation without any fuss. The food selections are very good, the atmosphere stays relaxed, and the service keeps things moving smoothly. It's the kind of place you choose because you know it'll make the meeting feel effortless--and that reliability is why I keep coming back.

Visited Ciao Bella for a family dinner and had a great experience. The ambiance, service, and food were all wonderful. I ordered the Linguine Bolognese and paired it with a Riesling, both were delicious. The only thing I would have changed was having the noodles cooked just a bit longer. Our waitress was fantastic, and everyone was very friendly. I would definitely recommend Ciao Bella and look forward to returning when back in town.

The food and service is always remarkable! It's a nicer upscale place to get Italian food! This was my top favorite spot to get pasta for a while but I feel the quality change ever so slightly. I do recommend!

Ciao Bella has been a regular spot for us for years and this last visit did not disappoint. We had cousins in town and wanted to share this special place with them. First, I want to say that Charlie was awesome to have as our server - so adorably friendly and professional. We started with the popcorn shrimp and crab cakes. The truffle aioli on the crab cakes is divine! We moved to Caesar salads and then I had the sea bass special which had a lemon risotto and a short rib that melted in your mouth and came with roasted root veggies. Finally, although we were stuffed, we opted to have their crumble of the night which was a wild berry crumble that was tart and sweet and buttery crumble - yummy.

Ample parking, nice ambiance and great service -- off to a strong start before we even sat down. We ordered a few dishes to share, and everything came out fresh and beautifully presented: * Fettuccine with Chicken - Rich, flavorful, and loaded with fresh herbs, almonds, and tender chicken & added sausages as well * Rainbow Trout - Perfectly cooked with a bright, buttery sauce and topped with greens and roasted tomatoes. * Crab Cakes - Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired with delicious dipping sauces. * Tiramisu - Light, airy, and the perfect sweet finish to the meal. Service was attentive without being overwhelming, and the whole dining experience felt smooth and relaxed. With plenty of parking and consistently good food, Ciao Bella is definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend!

I had a nice dinner here. My server, Jordan, was great. Super friendly with good recommendations. I was dining solo and he made me feel very special. Even brought me a little candle on my dessert plate because it was my first time dining in the restaurant. Environment is large and loud especially in the bar. Side table was still 76 db so it's not a romantic spot. Special cocktail, pear old fashioned, was very nice. A bit of spice with a sweet overtone. Red pepper linguine with scallops had a very nice flavor. Personally I'd do chicken instead of the scallops as chicken can handle the flavor better. Lemonetta dessert was good. Not too tart smooth with a nice crust.

I have been to Italy twice and got the chance to experience true Italian pasta....Ciao Bella in Bloomington MN is the only restaurant I have found to come even close. The food was so good and they have a ton of gluten free options! We started out with the Cauliflower which was a pleasant surprise very flavorful. Then I got the pesto squid ink pasta, that was my first time trying squid pasta and it was good!! What stole the show was the pesto sauce. Lastly for desert I got their lemon tart and it was the perfect way to top the night The restaurant was very cute and plenty of space!! Also our server was very attentive and helped us narrow down the best thing to get. I will definitely be back and be bringing my friends here.

Ask the Community - Ciao Bella

Does it have a dress code?

They do not

Is their patio dog friendly?

I honestly don't know. Sorry.

Do they have a kid's menu? I don't see one on their site.

I'm pretty sure they do. As I recall, Mac & Cheese, Spaghetti, etc. I would call first to confirm.

Do they have a happy hour🤔? I can't seem to find any menu or information if they do. Time?

No they currently do not. I called today 9/1/23 and asked.

Do you still have a cigar smoking area?

No cigar smoking area indoors or out per MN law

How is this place for vegetarians? All pastas and pizzas seem to have meat in them.

I didn't have trouble! Mushroom pastas and meatless pizza options. They will take meat off too if you need.

Also important to note, they close at 8 PM. It's decorated like a true family style place, cute flowers and colors and light fixtures. The service is friendly, but if you are in a hurry, they are not. They bring olive oil and herbs to the table with homemade bread to start which is an extra touch I think most restaurants have stopped doing. They did offer any pasta dish to be made with gluten-free penne. My pasta dish was tasty and warm but the meat was sparse, and though the prices seem fair, I would say all around this was an average experience. I can see how this could have sentimental value to people who live in the neighborhood, and I do like to support independent restaurants so I'm glad we tried it, but if you are a true foodie and if you are looking for great Italian, I don't think this is the spot.

Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and very pleasant. She explained the specials and was also happy to accommodate my request for gluten-free bread options, which I really appreciated. My husband ordered our drinks, and since it was happy hour, the bar drinks were offered at some great prices. For dinner, I ordered the Lemon Chicken with Roasted Veggies, while my husband chose the build-your-own baked pasta dish, loaded with plenty of vegetables. The only downside was our table location. We were seated right next to the kitchen door, and every time someone went in or out, the door made a pretty loud bang. It was distracting and a little irritating throughout the meal. Maybe a hydraulic door closer or hinge could help with that? When our food arrived, the portions were generous, everything was hot, and it all looked delicious. My lemon chicken was incredibly flavorful, and those roasted vegetables were absolutely the best! My husband's baked pasta was also packed with flavor, and he loved all the roasted vegetables he added to it. Aside from the noisy kitchen door, another great dinner and experience. We were seated quickly at 6pm. The food was good! We opted for the beet bruschetta appetizer in lieu of dessert. I thought the sweetness of the honey ricotta played well against the earthiness of the beats. And the ciabatta bread was chewy and flavorful. The wedge Caesar was good, I loved the homemade croutons. A little heavy on the dressing, but you could tell it was homemade and had great flavor from the anchovy- a solid Caesar dressing. My husband got the seafood pasta, and I got the spaghetti and meatballs. He loved his, and I loved the bold flavor of the house made red pasta sauce. The meatballs were big and well seasoned. My only critique, and perhaps this is unfair, but the pasta was clearly not homemade and I wished it was. The only hiccup is that the date night was advertised as coming with a bottle of wine, and we were charged $20 for the bottle we got. It was explained to me that they had said in the beginning that the wine was "a $20 mystery bottle" meaning we couldn't choose it. I interpreted this to me that the free bottle of wine that was advertised as part of the date night was valued at $20. I explained this felt like a little bit of a trick and the charge was removed from our bill without any fuss. That was much appreciated. Because of how that was handled, we will definitely return!
