Compared…read moreto another olive oil tasting we did in Paso Robles, this one felt a bit more fast-casual and relaxed--which honestly wasn't a bad thing at all. It gives you the freedom to taste everything at your own pace. You order the tasting first, then they give you a tray with delicious sourdough bread from a local bakery. The staff explained that the balsamic vinegars are imported, while all of their olive oils are produced in-house, except for the truffle oil since the local soil isn't suitable for growing truffles. After that, you head over to the tasting section where you can grab samplers of the olive oils and balsamic vinegars before finding a seat outside under the olive trees. The space itself is beautiful and peaceful. There were around 10 olive oils and 10 balsamic vinegars to try. My favorites were the TH (Tuscan Herbs) olive oil and the traditional balsamic. The flavored balsamics were interesting and fun to taste, though I still personally preferred the classic options. Overall, such a fun and worthwhile stop if you're in the Ojai area. Paid $20 for two people. Also, bonus points because they happily give extra sourdough bread if you need more :)

The little drive up the mountain is very cute and there's a lot of parking. I will say a big disappointment was the restrooms. There are two porta potties with an exterior sink. I just think if you're gonna charge these prices that you should probably have a better bathroom. I did really enjoy how knowledgeable the lady was who helped us with our samples. You walk around and find a seat by yourself outside and then enjoy the tastings by yourself with a printed out guide. What's really great about this place? You can spend as much time as you want exploring and enjoying the olive oil. Prices are not bad. We paid $15 for a tray. They gave us some bread to eat with the olive oil and I felt like the bread was old and stale. Perhaps working on some fresh bread would help the experience.

I now own and use about 15 bottles of both oils and vinegars. My faves: Balsamics for mocktails- guava, gravenstein apple, watermelon Balsamics for salad - lemon, oregano, and champangne Oils - Madigascar black pepper, bahklavout peppers oil (spicy) many different varieties of cooking and fresh usage robust to medium. Temecula Olive Oil Company was such a fun surprise and ended up being one of the highlights of our day. The different olive oils were genuinely delicious, and it was really interesting tasting the differences between them, The Lemon and Mediterranean was especially good and definitely came home with us! The shop itself is adorable and has that rustic, small-town Temecula charm that makes you want to wander around and look at everything. Beyond the oils, they have olives, spreads, sauces, and all kinds of things you suddenly convince yourself you absolutely need. The Tomato Basil Marinara may or may not have also made its way into our bag. A Sunday spent wine tasting and olive oil tasting? Turns out that is a pretty perfect combination. Great products, a fun experience, and something a little different from the usual Temecula wine-country day.

She seemed annoyed to have to help me even though it was empty. Kept having to repeat myself and ask for different flavors. It makes sense now as I read others reviews of the possibility of why. This is a shop for people that own beach houses or have relatives that do. Or who have fully embraced the nautical or "beach" aesthetic in their homes. I do tease. This stores carries a well-curated array of gifts. These include such things as hand-made pottery, jewelry, candles, cards and an array of objet d'arts. There is dominant color palate of blues, greens and driftwood. It is a very nice shop and one that you could easily spend quite a while picking out a tasteful gift for a loved one. The Steamer Trunk has a lovely inventory. And it of course carries merchandise emblazoned with "Catalina Island." It's just that it's the same inventory I've seen when I've visited my mother near Rehobeth Beach. Or the Waterfront in Baltimore where my sister lives. It would have been nice to have seen some more local artists/artisans represented. As you might expect, the gift shop wasn't on the cheap side, but, to be fair, for the quality of the goods for sale it was reasonable. Resort towns (and California and especially Catalina) are typically on the pricier side. This is an economy fed primarily through tourism. But, again, prices were not exorbitant. When I visited there several other shoppers in the store and the woman tending the register was answering question for them. I felt like I would have no problem getting helpful answers. So, while not unique, definitely a place to find some beautiful gifts.
