Went in here to get two bottles of olive oil. I asked if we could sample them before buying even though we were already purchasing them and she said I quote "no I have other things going on here" and repeated it twice. The store was empty and it was super rude and unprofessional, I would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

When gift giving, I make it a point to only give consumables and I like to give with intention. I also love to support small and local businesses. This is the cutest place in Carlsbad Village and any gift recipient will love anything from here. Very boutique-like with all kinds of gifts! Super competitive prices. They are the nicest people too! I bought a few bottles of olive oils to give to family and friends, and I also bought a handful of the little 60mL bottles to hand out to neighbors. My only bugaboo is that the 60mL bottles have no identifiers on them. In other words, if any of my "secret santa" gift recipients want to know where to go to buy this olive oil, they won't know because it doesn't have the business name/demographics on the 60mL bottles. If you haven't done tastings of olive oil or balsamic vinegar before, you should try it. Honestly once you taste a specialty oil and vinegar and experiment with different flavor combinations, you'll never want to go back to plain old oil and basic vinegar. I was out shopping in the Village for last-minute Christmas presents, and tucked among the boutiques, restaurants and salons, I noticed Humble Olive Oils. You enter into one, big open room that somewhat resembles a craft beer tap/tasting room, with small barrels lining the walls on either side filled with various oils and vinegars. On the right-hand side you can indulge in sips of infused olive oils - chipotle, basil and Baklouti green chile to name just a few. Head over to the opposite wall and sample their honey ginger white balsamic vinegar or perhaps the cinnamon pear dark balsamic. All oils and vinegars can be bought in 60ml, 200ml or 375ml, and you can get a great little gift pack of two 60ml bottles (your choice) for $12, or four 60ml bottles (your choice) for $24. If you can't find a small bottle of what you're looking for, the staff is more than willing to pour you one. They offer some great pairing recommendations, too! If this store ever moves locations I will handcuff myself to the door-which I realize is counter productive but you cannot expect a man to think straight when you take away his fix. I've been here dozens of times and bought something each time. You can try everything and ask questions and if so inclined, give thanks to the universe (and the owners) for this bounty of beautiful babies. It's not just the olive oil that's worth the trip (if you like a little heat you must get a bottle or two of the Baklouti green chile and the Harissa. And if you're as big a fan of infused balsamic vinegar as you tell your mother in law you are every holiday season-and you aren't getting backup bottles of the espresso balsamic for red meats...then I must ask your politely, but firmly; to leave. I first thought I walked into the wrong store. The pictures posted depict a clean, uncluttered space filled with mostly olive oils and vinegars. Instead, the store was cluttered with clothing, knick-knacks, and other random junk for sale. When I finally found the olive oils, I noticed the bottles aren't marked with a harvest date and/or best by date, so I would have no idea how old they are. When approaching the staff to inquire about this, none of them were wearing masks during a statewide Covid indoor mask mandate, so I promptly left and will not be going back. I bought 6 bottles of oil and vinegar and one of white pepper, should have checked the receipt, when I got home and checked it, she had charged me for the things above and 16.99 bottle of oil that I did not buy, of course since I had left already could not complain, but be sure to check your bill before you pay it, I was overcharged by 16.99. The boy and I had a reservation at a nearby restaurant. But got to the area a little earlier than expected. We've lived in Carlsbad for a couple of years, so we decided to walk around and look at shops. We stumbled upon this place, and decided to check it out. They had array of oils as well as vinegars. You sample a taste of what they and go from there. I ended up doing s few samples/tasting. I actually ended up buying a couple things, the lemon infused oil and black truffle oil. Which will add a nice flavor with some of the dishes I want to make. The only thing that I didn't like, was we where the only customers in there, and I believe the owner was the one on the front counter. He didn't even bother asking us if we needed help or even suggested anything. I would have like a little acknowledgement. I don't know, maybe he thought we looked like tourists and have no interest in buying anything. I would like if he came up to us and maybe give us a background of their shops, oils, and vinegars. Despite of that experience, we still bought a couple of things. And the ones I did sample were all good. Maybe I'll be back to this shop again, if I'm ever back in the area. read more
