A Groupon deal brought me back to Ciao Amici's after nearly a decade. Under new management, I was disappointed to see that the few menu items I remembered were no longer there. However, our waitress was VERY helpful in recommending dishes, and my boyfriend and I both ended up with entrees we would order again (the lasagna for him and the eggplant parmesan for me). We were also addicted to the bread with the oil and vinegar dip - I think we went through three baskets before dinner was over. Though the prices are a bit higher than I'd pay for an average meal out, the portions are huge and you definitely get your money's worth. We arrived for our reservation and were seated immediately in a very nice circular booth. My wife and I were greeted by the waitress who took drink orders. We were in no rush, and decided to order an appetizer and delay a dinner order until later - this did not seem to bother the waitress at all. We had the prosciutto-wrapped shrimp appetizer. It arrived hot, and quickly. The menu had stated that these were Boursin-stuffed shrimp wrapped in prosciutto. The shrimp were large - perhaps a tad overlooked, but the Boursin wasn't really discernible. In spite of that, it was a good starter. My wife ordered the veal Marsala while I had the perch. Both entrees were good. They each came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The service was good - the waitress seemed content to match our desire for a slower tempo with the meal. Overall, this is a nice restaurant. I would say that there is nothing really "special" about it, but you'll find good service and a nice menu here. If you want eclectic dining with interesting sides and sauces, this isn't the place. But I'd come here again - the menu is large and all of the food that passed by our table looked very good. read more

Ciao Amici's provides a very good fine dining experience. They ran into sone financial trouble during the recession, but didn't we all. Since then, they've returned to the same excellent standards they've been known for. This isn't quite a casual restaurant, but jackets definitely aren't required. The atmosphere is pretty refined and the high back booth tables provide a lot of privacy. The service is usually very good and the staff tend to be very considerate. The food is always good with very moderate pricing. I highly recommend this place. read more

You have to eat here!!!! We travel all over the country and I'm always at hotels and restaurants. This is one of the best I've ever been to. The food was even better than Gordon Ramsay's in Las Vegas Nevada. Bobby, our waitress was one of the best waitresses I've ever had. If I ever have a restaurant I will come back and try and steal her. She is fabulous. We drove 39 minutes down the freeway from our hotel to eat here because there didn't seem to be any good food with any good reviews around our area. Totally worth the drive. I have dined at Ciao Amici's at least once a month over the past six months. The food leaves me feeling pleasantly surprised & impressed. All of my friends that I have taken to this restaurant have remarked similarly. I tend to be quite critical and demanding when it comes to my food, and Ciao Amici has yet to hear me complain! Wonderful dining experience...every time! Oops! I do have one complaint: sometimes large parties with children can be quite annoying and distracting. I wish that they would seat large parties in their lower level. read more

Now here is an example of a phenomenal restaurant. Food made from scratch is off the charts, excellent. Servers are mature, know the food, know the wine list and are very well trained. My husband had the veal scallopini and he ate every bite and every drop of the sauce. I had the eggplant parm, which is cut lengthwise and very thin, making it really crisp. I would have preferred an angel hair pasta on the side, but the pasta sauce was very good, pasta a bit over cooked. Now the hit of the meal was the mushroom bisque, full of earthy flavor, I could have just had that as a meal. Kim was just wonderful, knowledgeable, took time to talk and care about our meal as if we were guests in her own home. Booked on Open Table which we recommend as this place can get busy. read more

Usually a very good restaurant. Unfortunately very disappointed last night. The shrimp Luca is NOT lightly breaded... it's heavily breaded. Chose it because it was accompanied by vegetables & polenta...not cheesy rice! My companion had the seafood option with mussels, pasta etc in a spicy red sauce (bara something !!!) said it was the most tasteless dinner he has ever had there. Ciao Amici's was recommended to me by a friend. I wish I knew why. I came in at an off time 4:30pm. I sat at the bar and waited well over 5 minutes for a bartender to appear. When she did, I got a brief hello and then was ignored for another 5 minutes whole she chatted with the only other customer at the bar. I didn't even have a menu! I finally got a menu and ordered two apps after several more minutes of waiting with my menu closed and set aside. The apps were brought out together. She didn't ask. The food was average. Nothing to write home about. The wine list was nice even though I wasn't offered one. All in all, I won't be back. read more

I recently when here for lunch with a couple of friends. One of my friends is vegan & she had a black bean burger, which she did like, however, their fries are fried in with the chicken & fish so she couldn't have those, and all of the soups had chicken stock in them so those were a no go too. They did give her fresh veggies as a side instead. My other friend & I had the Margaretta pizza. It was sooo good! And their bread is also amazing! I would go there just for the bread. Easter Brunch was fabulous! Great food and great staff! We had a reservation for our party of 8 and were seated within a few minutes of arrival and our waitress, Jackie was attentive without being a nuisance...perfect! The buffet had a wide variety of foods including breakfast items, salads, dinner and dessert. A made to order omelette was available but none of us took advantage of it. Everybody in our group was extremely pleased with the food and we all had plenty to eat. Often food in buffets are less tasty than what you would find by ordering separately, but we didn't feel that was the case here. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you! read more

We came to dinner tonight for my sons birthday. Made a reservation for 6:00, which we probably didn't need. We were seated in a booth. Honestly it was not comfortable. The backs are super straight and high. The menus are so big that they place them on the seats because the tables are packed with stuff. Water glasses, wine glasses, bread plates, silverware, a special menu, and the cocktail menu. It feels claustrophobic. Our server took drink orders, then asked for our orders. She did well at trying to upsell with appetizer suggestions, and upgrade salads, but didn't bother to go over specials with us. The table had two orders of gnocchi, the pasta con pollo, and the pasta da Vinci. Two people upgraded to the Caesar salads, and one got the Gorgonzola salad. I got the house salad with the shallot vinaigrette. Caesar salads were a big hit, the Gorgonzola salad was good but had way too many dried cherries. I personally love the shallot vinaigrette. Entrees were definitely plentiful. The gnocchis were good but had too much sauce and too much cheese. The chicken on the pasta con pollo was over cooked and it was also over sauced. The pasta da Vinci's was really good. The mussels were awesome, the scallops were great, as were the shrimp. I don't care for the fact that the leave the shells on the tails of the shrimp, and again it was over sauced. Our server was kind and boxed up our orders, but she seemed nervous. We chose this restaurant based on the reviews, it did not disappoint. We wore dressy/casual attire, and most of the restaurant clientelle were dressed that way as well. We arrived at the restaurant around 6:30 p.m. The staff were very pleasant, and attentive, but did not hover over us. They bring warm soft rolls to the table with an oil, balsamic vinegar and Parmesan cheese dip. The first time I had bread like this was was in Florence. Best way to eat bread ever! Even though it was one of the hottest days of the year my hubby and I chose soup to go with our entree. He had the French Onion, and I had the Minestrone. They were both perfect. For our entrees, I had the lamb chops, which were perfectly grilled, the vegetable was fresh steamed green beans. The beans were not overcooked and had a wee bit of crunch left in them. Perfection! One disappointment was the mashed potatoes, I'm not a fan of potatoes, and these were goopy. I'm sure this was the way the chef meant to serve them. However I my eyes they were a failure. I wish I had asked for a substitution. I had the house Chianti. I'm not a sommelier, however I love a dry red, and the wine was great. My hubby had the special, which was a HUGE pork chop with grilled Gnocchi with vegetables I think I saw spinach. There was a sauce on the plate that I think was a mild pesto sauce. The pork chop was moist and tender. He could not eat it all. Note that they cook their pork the modern way, and you may find it a bit pink. Pork no longer needs to be cremated, however I know a few people that the sight of pink will send them off the deep end. We finished off the meal with a slice of home made Tiramisu. It was a generous portion, and was perfect for two. It was very yummy. The only other critique I would give is they were a bit heavy on the salt. So, don't pick up that shaker until you taste it. Hubby chose a soda to go with his meal, and had no alcoholic beverage. The bill came to $80. read more
