We loved the menu but we felt the bartender that the person bartending had no idea how to make. We ordered Gibsons which are on the menu. We had to tell him we needed cocktail onions. Not sure if the pasta here is made to order, but it was extremely fresh and al dente and clearly, I couldn't tell the difference at that point. Our server was pleasant and prompt. The tables did seem a bit tight (felt like I was in a cramped NYC Italian joint) rather than a local restaurant in suburban Michigan. Other than that, no complaints! We were there on Sunday May 22, 2022. First time there for us, it was just okay. Our server "Vera" was a bit on the rude side. She would cut us off mid sentence, my son asked for a beer list to look at, and she said "What do you want?" he never did get a beer list. Most disappointing dinner I've had in a long time. My boyfriend and I left completely unsatisfied and irritated. Both of our meals were bland and did not taste fresh at all. The chicken was especially bad and was definitely not fresh. Meal was predictable and I did not have any desire to take more than four bites. My boyfriend did not even want his massive plate of leftovers, which leads to the second critique: The portions are ridiculously big. Overwhelming amount of food that tasted bad. His tortellini seemed like it was frozen before and like it was in a microwave. The worst part of all was how expensive this flavorless meal was. It stung to pay $50 for this meal, I truly did not want to. With prices that high, I expected high quality food- we were severely let down. At the end of it, it feels like we got robbed. Let me start by saying that I've been to Ciao's many times in the past and have enjoyed it. I work in a restaurant and would tell co workers and friends that it is always a good, classy atmosphere with flavorful, well presented dishes. My most recent experience was anything but. I stopped in for dinner with my date at about 6 PM. It was steady, but not busy by any means. The staff was polite, we were seated and greeted quickly and placed our drink/food order right away - I ordered the pork chop and she got chicken parmesan. The food was delivered quickly, dishes looked good. However, after cutting into my pork chop I could instantly see that it was completely raw in the center. I flagged the waitress, she apologized, and took it back to the kitchen. Not a huge deal. She brings the same pork chop out again, and I cut into it to reveal that it is stIll raw in the center. The waitress apologizes again and asks me if I would like it cooked well done, as if some customers are ok with raw pork. She takes it back to the kitchen, and shortly returns with still the same pork chop, now in 3 or 4 pieces, on what looks like the same plate that contained the raw meat. I ate around the bone and what I consumed was actually flavorful and went well with the cherry chutney. I didn't make a fuss about it, and maybe I should've, because we were never offered any kind of compensation or discounted price. I paid $16 for the pork chop, as well as the $3 up charge for my side Caesar. No dessert was offered, no manager came to our table, just a few "sorrys" from our server. read more

Before coming to Ciao Amici, I read many reviews on Yelp. When somebody told me that food and service was great, my husband and I decided to bring one of our friends visiting from Arizona. The bread was the best part of our meal. It was fresh out of the oven, and the dipping oil with balsamic and assorted spices was on point. Service was absolutely terrible. Other than our group of three, there was a gentleman sitting by himself in the back and a booth of two elderly ladies sitting not far from us. We didn't see the waitress much, and when we did see her, she wasn't super helpful. I ordered the gnocchi, which by itself was pretty good. However, I would have loved to see which types of cheese were in the dish on the menu, as one cheese ruined the whole dish. (It tasted like blue cheese, which is the one cheese on God's green earth I don't like.) The husband's chicken parm was mediocre. We had lots of leftovers but didn't take anything home. We were both sick after our visit as well, which I suspect might have been from the salad dressing. read more

My family and I came here after an event about a week ago. We made a reservation, which ended up being unnecessary, and they had our table ready for us when we got there. We started the meal with a LOT of their bread. It was hot out of the oven and really quite delicious. We all ordered very different dishes and most of them were really very good. My husband and I have been here a few times over the past year, most recently this past Wednesday. We were so impressed the first time that we decided to go back to Ciao Amici's for our anniversary last year. There is a large variety of dishes available, not just noodles. I had the Chilean Sea Bass the first time, and it was very good. The other times I've gone, I've usually had the daily special (usually fish related) and they've all been very good. The bread that is included with entrees is warm, herbed, and soft. They have a huge wine selection with half-off bottles on Wednesdays. The atmosphere is great for a romantic night out. This is one of the few places in Brighton where we feel like we can't just go in a T-shirt and jeans. Some people are really dressed up there, but we feel business casual is fine (it isn't super fancy). The tables have nice cloths and the layout is open and classy. There isn't a bunch of TVs and cheesy stuff all over the walls. The outdoor seating has a nice view of Mill Pond. Our waitstaff has always been very helpful too. We went during Brighton Restaurant Week this year, and the waitress less us know that the Wednesday wine deal may beat the R-Week deal, depending on what we ordered. The water glasses are always kept full. The owner always stops by to see how things are going. We've tried almost every dessert, and liked them all (except my husband doesn't like coffee so he wasn't a fan of the plain tiramisu). The chocolatey cheesecake one was the best, in my opinion. My one complaint is that we've had multiple problems with leftover containers from there. Something is always leaking, and one time they put the boxes in the bag sideways. What a mess! I'm giving it 5 stars instead of 4 because we were so impressed with it the first time, and it still feels like a special occasion every time we go. read more

We tried this restaurant twice, praying that the first bad experience was an isolated incident. With very slim pickins for quality restaurants in Brighton, we couldn't have been more heartbroken. The details below refer to the second visit. In a nutshell, the food is a JOKE. The calamari was not drained and sitting in a pool of fryer oil that smelled and tasted like it hadn't been changed in months. The lasagne was microwaved to the point that the cheese and the corners got hard and chewy (not in a good way). The crown jewel was the veal chop... utterly rancid. It is illegal to serve rotting meat, but I don't think they know this! The manager refused to visit our table when we complained!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable. When it comes to a dining experience as a whole, mediocre food can be out-shined by stellar service, leaving the customer believing that the restaurant is wonderful. Not so at Ciao Amici's. Our wine glasses were empty for most of the meal. The server brought our salads about two minutes before our entrees arrived, and spent a great deal of time chatting with the bartender (with our table merely steps away!) instead of fulfilling her job title..."serving." We stumbled upon Ciao Amici's as we tried to find a lunch spot open the day after Christmas. Score! The decor was very nice, linen table cloths, soft lighting, and warm woodwork. Our server was excellent - charming and friendly yet unobtrusive. The lunch menu was extensive, offering the same options as the dinner menu simply at a lower price (and presumably smaller portion size). I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan which was still more than enough for one meal for me - so I was happy to be able to take the remainder home. All entrees were served with a side salad or soup along with bread. The bread was brought out freshly baked, still warm and lightly buttered. It was addicting - toasty little biscuits to dip in olive oil / vinegar / Parmesan. We all know where I could have stayed all day. Moving on: I did wish there was a vegetarian soup option, unfortunately even the Minestrone was made with a chicken stock base. Oh well, I survived with a salad. The salad was fine, I would order the dressing on the side next time though. The eggplant was quite good, it was thinly sliced and lightly battered, not overly cheesy and served atop a bed of thin noodles. Our server tried hard to time our entrees properly, noticing we were pretty chatty and therefore pretty slow in eating our soup/salad. He was conscientious to not rush us but not overload us with food, allowing our meal to go along at our own pace. Well done. I felt like the lunch prices ($10.99 for eggplant Parmesan) were reasonable for the portion size especially given the fact that salad and delicious bread were included. As mentioned, the portions were more than enough for lunch, allowing me to take leftovers home. I thought it was a very nice touch that our server boxed our food and once I got home I realized he'd labeled my container and even wrapped the Styrofoam box with saran wrap so no marinara leaked all over the car. I heard on the radio recently that people consider Olive Garden "Authentic Italian". Seriously? Ok, for about the price of the OG you can eat REALLY GOOD Italian food in a romantic setting. I have tried lots of the dishes. Everything is great (Pork Chop, Ravioli, Chicken Parm, Chicken Prosciutto)and service is friendly. You could easily split a meal with your significant other if you wanted. What fun is that when you can have leftovers instead? They get a full five stars for having some craft beers available. It would be a lot better if they had a few on tap. Adding a Bells Seasonal Tap would do the trick. read more

The decor was very upscale, and the staff seemed to be very well trained and professional. Our waiter Marril was wonderful and provided the highest quality of service we've had in a long time. I had the veal parmesan, and my wife had the gnocchi, both of which were beyond reproach. Accompanied by fresh bread and a Caesar salad that melted in your mouth with fresh provolone & garlic croutons, and topped off with blue cheese stuffed dirty martini's and I already can't wait to get back! We booked their banquet hall in the basement for my daughters wedding reception. Best move ever! The staff was great to work with, the room is very nice, we had 85 guests. We got a lot of attention from the wait staff during the reception, very friendly THE FOOD WAS GREAT!! We were impressed how good the food was for this size crowd. We went to Ciao Amici's on a Tuesday night and they had several people in the bar and about 10 tables filled up. Our service was wonderful and the food was outstanding for myself and my 2 friends. I was there one time before and really enjoyed the lasagna bolognese. This time I had the cheese filled tortellini with the spicy cream sauce and added their fresh italian sausage.
